😫I don't know why you're all mad at me for talking about 8 Episodes. Of course several episodes would be much better, I mentioned that twice in the video! But that is not the issue here. I just worked with what we had and proved that it could be done. Please stay constructive and respectful! 💙

dont mind them, they're fans that will take nothing less than a perfect 10 eps season that covers everything they want
my only critique is that based on season 1 we should really consider the possibility that parts will get cut out completely (examples: most Don Crieg, many parts of Arlong Park etc. )
on a second thought maybe u shouldnt, if fans already jumping on u for doing an 8eps season breakdown which is likely, imagine if u do a vid of what parts to cut out 😂

Well 8 episodes can be good.
But more would be definitely better.
In season 1 many things were scrabbed taking away impact.
And we have also Logue town.
Smoker, Ace, Crocodile, the giants, all the agents, the king, Kureha, Wapol.. this is totally squeezed in 8 episodes.
Why not do more and make sure t to be great?

It absolutely can be done in 8 Episodes…But it shouldn’t. For example, you had Reverse, Whiskey, and Little in a single episode, that’s roughly 20 min per island. They still have to travel and everything, and let’s not forget that we know we are getting a Rumbar Pirates flashback as well. And then with Television unlike Manga/Anime you usually have the A Plot, and then B Plots and C Plots, that are laced throughout the entire Season that you still have to fit in here. Yes, it’s doable in 8 Episodes, but I think it would be a disservice to everyone involved.
My take on what we should expect; It’s very likely that the B Plot this Season could be Smoker & Tashigi. And, looking at the casting calls so far there is not a single Alabasta Only Character who has been confirmed….So what I expect to happen is that Lougetown/Reverse Mountain/Whiskey Peak and Little Garden will get at the very least 1 entire episode dedicated to them, and…Drum Island will be the final 3 or 4 Episodes. And that’s as far as we will get to in Season 2. Ace will be the character teased in the end, just like smoker was in Season 1.
And honestly, this makes a lot of sense after the Season 1 reception. Season 1 told a pretty complete story in terms of television season, so with that trust that they have earned the Team can take it, and use it to leave us on a Cliff Hanger for Season 3, which Season 3 would pay off the BW subplot set up with Zoro in Season 1, and further explored with Vivi in Season 2. And then Season 3 could theoretically make for a cheaper, or around the same cost Season, as they don’t have to travel or change Scenery too much, and have it take place completely in Alabasta.
We have to think less of “how many chapters can they fit into an episode” and take a more grounded television approach. Based on all the rumors so far, the casting notices, I think that Season 2 ending in Drum Island/Sakura Kingdom, and Season 3 being a cumulating Season of 1, 2 and 3 is more narratively fulfilling then trying to rush everything out asap. And I say this, really wanting to see Luffy beat the crap out of Crocodile in Season 2 already, but I’d rather they do what’s right for the story. Thats at least my take on it.

@@DesnestheDwarf I am sorry, but please read my comment again, I do not think you understood what I was trying to say. I’ll try abbreviating it in German, but I hope you remember that my German is very rusty.

@@DawnKnight1993 I think the best we can hope for is that they split the season into two parts. First part up until Drum secound Alabasta. I don't think we get a whole 8 episodes of Alabasta but maybe 4 or 5 in this case. They can film them in short succession and release them with a year between them. It would prevent the actors aging between Drum and Alabasta and the Alabasta saga still be contained in one season.
I wouldn't get my hopes up though.

I like your format. Almost similar to mine but here's my format if they will only do 8 episodes:
Episode 1: Loguetown (Just like how Loguetown introduced the series in season 1)
This arc in the LA would be shorter than the source material since Smoker already knew what Luffy look like (at the end of season 1). This will also include Zoro buying his swords, Usopp buying tools and equipments, Buggy + Alvida teamwork, and the introduction of Dragon. And this episode will end with the Strawhats crossing the Reverse Mountain and a cliffhanger of showing a huge whale.
    Episode 2:
    - Introduction of Laboon, Crocus, Mr. 9, the Unluckies, and Miss Wednesday
    - Laboon's backstory
    - Whole of Whiskey Peak
    - They can also add a scene where Garp, Koby, Helmeppo and the marines crossing the Calm Belts and explaining the concept so that the audience will know why pirates cant easily get out from the Grand Line
    - Mr. 3 should also be teased here
and this episode will end showing Miss All Sunday on the Merry
Episode 3: Little Garden. This should be a good choose of episode for this arc because the main villain here is Mr. 3. The title "One Piece" at the start of the episode should be themed to Mr. 3 because its literally episode 3
    Episode 4-5: Drum Island
I believe this would pretty much flow like Nami's arc on season 1 episode 7 & 8. Nevertheless, the ending of episode 5 should be the iconic fall of blossoms and Chopper finally joining the crew.
    Episode 6 - 8 (Alabasta)
I believe Episode 6 & 7 would choose between these scenes as endings
    - Strawhats + Smoker getting jailed
    - Sanji disguised himself as Mr. Prince
    - Luffy getting hooked by Crocodile
    - Vivi realizing she isnt with Usopp but Bon Clay
    - Crocodile defeating Luffy one more time
Episode 8 should be the final battle of the Alabasta. After the battle, they can show the Strawhats resting and then switching to other scenes like wanted poster of Luffy and Zoro has been made as well as scenes adapted from Episode 151 where the Warlords Mihawk, Kuma, Doflamingo, and the Fleet Admiral Sengoku have a meeting due to defeat of Crocodile. They may even drop names of the other Warlords too as a teaser.
And then, the episode should end with the iconic "X" tatoo rise during the goodbye to Vivi. But wait, thats not all, just like how they teased Smoker at the end of season 1, this episode should also add a VERY ending where Robin showed up in the Merry. And if you analyze this ending scene, it also parallel to my thoughts of how Episode 2 will end but this time Robin will identify herself as Nico Robin, not Miss All Sunday. So dialogues could be something like this:
"Miss All Sunday?? What are you doing here?!"
"Baroque Works is gone so dont call me by that name anymore. Call me Nico Robin and I am here to join your crew"
    And then The End

I'm thinking exactly the same regarding the last scene of episode 8. One thing that is so different from other series is that ended on a high note, happy and emotional, not an edgy cliffhanger (Smoker doesn't count). So they definitely need to do the same this time and keep the intromission of Nico Robin as a short "post-credit" scene.

My main issue with 8 episodes is that with Season 1 it was very well done, but started to strain itself with Arlong Park where a lot of things were cut that lessened the impact a little. It probably needed the equivalent of one more episode to be perfect.
Likely it was the Garp & Koby content that was added to make a more complete story out of the season - which may not be as big an issue for S2 as the Alabasta Saga is less episodic in that sense.
In which case your presented plan certainly works, assuming additional B/C plots aren't added.
Should juuust be able to get the necessary scenes from Logue town (maybe pairing some characters up to mix their scenes together?).
I agree you can certainly combine the Laboon & Whisky Peak stuff into one. Though I always forget just how much happens in little garden - giving the time to establish dinosaurs on an island, giants, and then the mr 3 and mr prince stuff? That kinda feels like more than 1 episode. But we'll see where they go.
Fine with one episode for Chopper's backstory if we blitz through the Walpol stuff 😂
Hopefully 4 episodes are enough for Alabasta. Perhaps my anime only experience has it clouded by the amount of filler?
I'm cautiously optimistic for the pacing; at least in the hope on lessons learned in S1. Alabasta's one of my favorite arcs, so I'm just hoping it's done well 😅

I like your breakdown. The beginning of the season will definitely be interesting how they cut the story down to fit. I think that Drum Island will be 2 episodes since it's Chopper's introduction, just like they did with Usopp and Sanji. After watching the Episode of Alabasta anime Special, i can see how they could actually fit Alabasta into 2 1 hour episodes, since the Special was under 2 hours. Though it's true that the movie was very cut down. Idk if 4 episodes would be needed to show Alabasta though. But it'll be fun to see how the patterns continue into season 2 in order to properly predict the structure of future seasons. Great video!

Tbh logue town episode doesn't even have to start from the sea. It can be start when each member of the crew in the middle of something: ussop buying weapon, nami buying clothes, luffy seeing roger's execution place, and zoro buying swords. Using this rule, every episode can be shorter.
What i feel when i read the early grand line saga is more about the chaos that they're experiencing.. Like the unexpected climate, nami suddenly get sick, the crew in the middle of the jurrasic park, getting caught in the middle of civil war, reverse mountain, getting inside the whale, assassins island, etc. If the writer can lean into the chaos aspect, i thing we still get the tone correct.
And also, logue town is a good start. Because it is literally ended up with a total chaos. There is luffy execution, smoker, the storm, dragon, smoker wants to catch luffy but get buggy instead, u name it. They can even make straw hat's crew rush the reverse mountain while getting chased by marine and ended in the laboon's stomach to make everything even more chaotic. It is the perfect introduction to the grand line

I love how everybody is playing this game in their heads. I wish they accomplish the level of synthesis of episode 1 (this episode has 3 Zoro fights, 2 Luffy fights, a flashback, a prologue and 3 protagonists introduced, without unnecesary cliffhangers). I fear they'll follow the path of Syrup village with many episodes of new plots. There's too many villains in this arc that need to be included because the numbering system but maybe most of them will go the Cabaji route. At the same time the idea of not having the Garp B plot taking time in every episode is hopeful.
In the version I play in my head they do a parallel of first episode with the speech: "This is a world like no other..." and the map turning into Loguetown once more, but this time is Luffy in the execution platform instead of Roger and he says "Sorry, I'm dead!". Cut to title card or "Loguetown: 4 hours earlier" or something like that.
Also the last scene of the season, the emotional "good ending" of course should be the "X" scene, in parallel of the barrel scene. One Piece should always end in celebration (as long as posible).
They could add Robin joining as a "post credit" scene.
Another thing is they used Nami (Nami isn't some tool to be used) as the major enigma that closes the season, introduced since episode 1 as Oda wanted in the manga. Maybe Vivi should be the next character that holds the season together from episode 1 (or 2).

(this comment isn’t hate to you, it’s just my opinion on the topic)
my issue with the 8 episode idea again is they already cut out a lot in season one. season one covered 95 chapters of the 100 chapters in the east blue saga, in 8 episodes. that’s an average of 11.8 chapters per episode.
season 2 is not only covering those final 5 chapters of east blue at logue town, but also the 117 chapter alabasta saga (122 chapters total). that’s 27 more chapters than last season. if they covered it in 8 episodes, then that much content within the same amount of screen time just sets a really bad precedent for the series going forward with longer arcs that are coming.
that’s 15.25 chapters per episode, 3 and a half more than the average per episode of last season. but if we have 10 episodes, that’s 12.2 chapters per episode, barely an increase from last season.
plus season one was literally originally billed as a 10 episode season before production started and they filed it back due to budgeting reasons.
this is how i personally would structure the season:
episode 1: logue town and going to reverse mountain and entering the grand line. also part of laboon.
episode 2: leaving laboon and the whole of whisky peak (could easily condensed into 40 minutes in one episode).
    episode 3: little garden.
episode 4 and 5: drum island. ending with chopper joining and leaving the island with Vivi feeling better. a solid mid season finale.
episode 5-10: all of alabasta. the saga is 63 chapters long, so 5 episodes would be good. arlong park is 27 chapters and was covered in 2 episodes. so 5 episodes for 63 is around a very similar pace.
and the season can end with them leaving Vivi and being confused why the poneglyph is pointing to the sky.
especially since they are most likely going to expand on Smoker and Tashigi as the B Plot this season to replace Garp; and another C Plot with Ace looking for blackbeard, i think that 10 episodes is suitable.
i personally am just not a fan of the idea that they should go with 8 episodes and end it with drum island.
in your video you use the 74 anime episodes as a baseline to be like “8 anime episode per netflix episode! it’s the same lace as season one!” but that’s simply not true. the manga and anime have completely different pacing. the alabasta saga in the manga (plus logue town) is literally 122 chapters. so using 74 as your example is kinda off based.
also ONE episode is not enough for drum island. that’s rushing it to the MAX.

Not to mention changing a lot of things for it to work. So: a pretty good Season leading to the finale with anticipation for the end, to then be somewhat disappointed at certain changes.

After watching the life action series I watched the anime for the first time, without nostalgia blocking my objectivity I can say that they really fixed the pacing issue from the anime, I agree that some stuff was better in the anime, like the Nami backstory, but those are just details compared with the favor they did by cutting entirely the Don Crieg fight, it was and still is the most boring thing I have watched yet, most of the filler stories are better than that.
Anyway, I believe the Alabasta saga has a lot they can cut, specially the early stuff. I know the live action will never go past a third season, the production would never be able to keep soemthing even remotely close to what the anime or manga shows, there are too many monsters, places, and races that the live action can't handle without breaking the bank.
That being said, I would reaaaaaally love to watch a 4 episode Wano Arch, that shit was way too long for its own good, the entire season would be 4 epiodes for Big mom and 4 apisodes for Kaido, thats it.

This format only works if there is minimal dialogue, which doesn't seem to be the case in season 1.
Jumping from Logue town, Reverse Mountain, Whale, Little Garden, Drum Kingdom wihin 4 episodes is too fast.
Also the whole aspect of them struggling to navigate grandline, facing sporadic weather conditions/disasters will need to be cut out.

I absolutely agree. They can do it with 8 episodes. This I've known the writers have proven. They can adapt very well with 8 hours.
But I do wish we had more episodes. So we could really build on this world in the live action. Get to know it better.
I could also agree with some people saying it's just. Gonna seem like being a little rushed. But who knows? Maybe the writers and oda can pull this off and still make this feel. Amazing. Plus 1 other thing I just realized is this would be 8 episodes that we know of but doesn't entirely say what the run time is for each episode. Some episodes could go longer than 1 hour, possibly 🤲 Allah. Stranger things most recent season. All I know for sure is I'm extremely excited. Super hyped. And now that everything's coming out makes it so much more fun again. This is going to be an epic journey on the rl Voyage, 2 season 2.❤

For the sake of world building & character development, I would prefer the pacing could be a bit slower. Quantity of chapter adapted not equal to quality of the adaptaton. The arabasta arc & logue town arc are very action & information pack arc compare to East Blue Arc.
Furthermore in term of place setting it will be easy to divide the Arabasta Arc into two season. One primarily travelling between island & other one just focusing on the Desert of Arabasta & beyond.
Based on recent cast calling, it seem they will adapted to Little Garden only, but I hope they will adapted till Drum Island. Little is more.
    Episode 1.
    Logue town.
Introducing to logue town, smoker, tashigi. Zoro with the 2 sword. Zoro with tashigi. A little slice of life & comedy. The Execution will be the cliffhanger with storm brewing.
    Episode 2
    Logue town + reverse mountain
The execution failing. Sanji & Zoro help luffy escapes. Zoro fight with Tashigi, Luffy fight with Smoker, while the rest of crew defending merry. Dragon came helping luffy & with his messages. The episodes ends with reverse mountain entrances.
    Episode 3
    Reverse Mountain + laboon.
The ascend & descending of Reverse Mountain. The crew make a stop to repair the ship & encounter Mr 9 & Mrs Wednesday try to hunt laboon. (I doubted that they will make the whale swallow the ship but I'm really glad if I'm wrong). Then the laboon backstory & introducing the log pose.
    Episode 4.
    Whiskey Peak
Introducing the grandline world, the weather & the monster. Whiskey peak hospitality. Partying. Zoro showboating. Zoro vs Luffy. Mr. Wednesday & Mr 8 reveal. End with Mr. 8 assasination attempt, & the crew scramble to escape the island just to be warn by Mrs All Sunday.
    Episodes 5.
    Little Garden
Vivi little backstory, the rebel, the struggle. Arrive at Little Garden. The luffy Adventure. Zoro vs Sanji hunting. The two giant fighting(i hope I'm wrong, but I think they will omitted the character just like Hatchan in Arlong Park). The episodes willl end with Mr 3 & his partner silhouette plotting something.
    Episodes 6.
    Little Garden
Mr. 3 took action. The Vivi, Zoro, Nami Cake. Luffy vs Mr.3. Usopp & the duck vs Mr.5. Sanji side quest : talk with Mr.0, kill the unluckies & obtaining Arabasta log pose. The farewell to giant. Ended by showing Nami bitten by bug.
    Episode 7.
    Drum island
Nami sick. The Crisis in Arabasta intensifies. Vivi decision. Blackbeard foreshadowing. Meeting with Chopper. Chopper Backstory.
    Episode 8.
    Drum Island.
Cure Nami. Luffy Defeat Wapol. Chopper join the crew. Head toward Alabasta. More introduction toward Arabasta. Maybe the season can be end with meeting Mr.2 prior to enter Arabasta.

    Episode 4: Little Garden

    Episode 7: Alabasta 1
    Episode 8: Alabasta 2
Alabasta in 2 episode can be perfectly done, in the anime they waste so much time visiting Nanohana and Doing side quests that really doesn't matter. I don't think Ace will have any significant role, he will come and leave just like Mihawk did in baratie arc

I don't think we need 1 whole episode for Reverse Mountain. You can split the Reverse Mountain arc from the ending of episode 1 and start of episode 2, then the rest of episode 2 is Whiskey Peak. Loguetown would be also much shorter here in the LA because unlike the source material, Smoker already knew what Luffy look like as shown in the end of season 1. So here is my format:
#1 - Loguetown + Reverse Mountain (ending at a cliffhanger showing a big whale)
#2 - Rest of Reverse Mountain (Twin Capes) + Whiskey Peak
      #3 - Little Garden
      #4 to #5 - Drum Island
      #6 to #8 - Alabasta
Little Garden on episode 3 would be a cool concept because of the main villain. Like when they will make the "One Piece" title opening themed to Mr. 3, then why not put that arc in episode 3?
