I picked this up by chance on the day it was released about 6 weeks back. Was in Harrods to pick up Herod and when I got there Haltane was being put out, the sales rep said I would be the second person to purchase it ever! So of course I had to grab it, the bottle looks stunning and on first smell I really enjoyed it. After getting home and wearing a couple of times I realised how similar it was too OFG and got those bacaarat rouge vibes aswell. However I have only ever owned samples of those and both are on my wish list, so I was really pleased with this purchase because it ticked those boxes and scratched that OFG itch. If you own OFG I’d say this is redundant, if you don’t own it then I think this is a really good purchase. I’ve had numerous compliments and am thoroughly enjoying wearing it.
Totally off the current subject, but have you read or been introduced to “The Ghost Perfumer” by Gabe Oppenheim? It’s an interesting profile of Pierre Bourdon, his career as a perfumer and his involvement with the fragrances from the house of Creed. Not to diminish the fragrances themselves but it’s an eye opening account of how the industry runs itself. I recommend it as a good read.

Managed to get my hands of a decant of this, and wearing it as my SOTD on this chilly day. I'm enjoying it, but it maybe a bit redundant for me personally since I already own OFG.
I love this fragrance. Very high quality. it does remind me of Oud for greatness, but a bit lighter and woodier.

I have a bottle of Haltane and I agree with you Sebastian, it does not wow me or excite me. I get big BR540 vibes, especially when it dries down and the saffron starts to take over. I get no oud or praline in this either. Just bergamot, saffron, and cedar. Happy to own Haltane but I probably won't be reaching for it often. Also, FYI - word from Jacques at PdM is that Haltane will be available to everyone outside of Harrod's starting in April 2022.

It replaced both Oud For Greatness and Happiness for me. Like it better than both.
I bought this on a 15% off sale at Saks. Havent opened the package yet but was able to snag a sample and wear it. Your review is spot on. Not bad, but OFG is better and for a dark oudy type scent, I like it dense and slightly syrupy rather than dry and woody. I get not BR540 vibes, just a less dense OFG with a dash of something else similar to the ginger they put in OFH. Ill be returning this one because I prefer OFG which I already have.

Nice review! Pralines aren’t chocolate though, more similar to caramel with nuts in it. They have an almost maple syrup note when made with pecans.

I just ordered myself a humble "haul" of 10 samples, fragrances I've kept hearing about prominently from you and two or three others on RUclips since I started watching this year. A few of these I assumed I'd never try because of the price and am still sure I'll never get a full bottle of, but, hey, why not try a sample and satisfy my curiosity! Also one or two of them are, I'm pretty sure, not for me but I think they'll fit some friends. For $50 (incl. shipping and taxes) I consider this a prudent, fiscally sensible experiment. Ordered Amouage Beach Hut Man EdP*, Au Coeur du Desert Parfum Extrait, Parfums de Marly Percival EdP, Escentric Molecule 01 EdT, Tauer Incense Rose EdP, Imaginary Authors Fox in the Flowerbed EdP,* Roja Parfums Vetiver Parfum Extrait, and Comme des Garcons Zagorsk, Hinoki, and Marseille. Asterisked: probably gifts but of course I'll sniff them! THANK you for all the enjoyment you've brought me in this new little hobby of mine. I wish you the happiest holidays!
I was very interested in this but haven't wanted to just blind buy it. I recent got a sample of Oud for Greatness. I've heard two sides. Both you and another reviewer had mentioned the similarities with OGF but a little different. But OFG would be easier to get my hands on for a little less. If anything I'd like to sample Haltane. Now I'm interested in OFH. 🙂 PDM was second niche house that I fell in love with. I have most of the PDM fragrances aside from a few.
I’m going to Harrods tomorrow. Will have to test this fragrance out.

I think this is very dark, woody & leathery with a touch of sweetness by the saffron/praline. I am one of the few people that doesnt like Layton and the other PDMs I have tried all underwhelmed me. This is very pleasant and classy to wear though. So far my favorite PDM fragrance but I only tried Layton, Pegasus, Percival and Galloway.
Nishane has launched a new Harrods Exclusive Favonius, a same bottle color , I am looking forward your review of it Seb.
Hey Sebastian, I have PDM Darley and that has a gold cap. A few others have too.
It's amazing to me that it doesn't matter what a company says the notes are it can literally smell like anything 🤷♂️ you used to be able to look at a fragrances notes and have an idea what to expect, not anymore, especially the brands that list three notes.
Kind of a weak move splicing to sister brand fragrances together and selling it as an exclusive.

I've always wondered about the Harrods exclusives - are they truly worthwhile, or is it primarily the exclusivity that renders them so elusive and highly sought after?
I think it depends this one even though exciting at first was a let down but then again it’s just me people will find it amazing. 😀

This fragrance reminds me of Tom Ford's Ombre Leather Parfum in the dry-down. I was shopping for freshies and Haltane is definitely not a freshie, and yet was lovely.
much much better than ombre leather which is more like godolphin not Haltane..

Thanks for the honesty Sebastian. While nice sounding for the price this sounds like well, if not a total nothing burger then a half-eaten burger at best. Price to Value ration sounds absolutely ridiculous. Talk about not 1 original idea. NEXT!

Yeah I wasn't blown away. Def reminds me of OFG and BR540. How long was Carlisle a Harrods exclusive before they turned it over to the general public.
I think a good year if not a bit longer.
During the summer, I got a discovery set of Milano Fragranze's first eight releases. Recently, I bought a full bottle of Milano Fragranze "Basilica": it was definitely my favorite one from them, and I like it a lot. It was released in 2021. It's become one of my favorite fragrances. Have you tried it yet?

I blind bought this from Harrods. The scent is familiar but I am loving it. I actually dont care for OFG but this one I can do. OFG had a little bit too much “manly” in it for me lol

It’s a shame to hear. When I saw Oud and praline I immediately thought Oud Bouquet by Lancôme. Carlisle was originally a Harrods exclusive so my expectations are high but this sounds like a let down. Since I’m not the biggest fan of BR540 so this may be a pass.
I was curious about this one but... If it's not that original I'll use my money in other more interesting fragrances and save a penny. Check SHL Mamba also Harrods exclusive , maybe if you try it, with all the fragrances you have smelled, will find a similarity, but I haven't smelled anything like that one. Great idea...maybe touch on some vintage selections. Might be a good idea to do fragrances you have grown out of. Either your taste has changed or something better (along the same line or motif) that has replaced it.

Haltane is fire
This is a Unique sence. Doesn't smell like nothing similar. It's very elegant and have rare ingredients. Only '''le conneseur'' know what means Parfums de Marly. Your nose it's broken...
Recently, I purchased, and tried for the first time, Azzaro "Visit", and I can like it, but it smells very similar to Kenzo "Jungle Homme". I already have two bottles of "Jungle Homme", so I was, at least, somewhat disappointed about the two fragrances being almost the same thing.
People say Visit smells like Gucci Rush. Is this true?
@@ThePerfumeGuy I’m not sure on the comparison since I’ve never smelled the Gucci, but Visit is a solid cheapie that’s great for the fall and cooler months in my opinion.

I got it in the mail today from Harrods, it Definitely reminds me of PDM KALAN and OFG/OFH . It smells good but it's very familiar and nothing original like you Said!

Black Gold is outstanding as a fragrance, inho. To my nose it has huge depth without the price tag

Hmm I have Sauvage elixir and Haltane they are quite different. I like to layer elixir with versace Eros. Haltane too strong for that.

If they used some of the same ingredients, then it would make sense that it reminds you of other fragrances.
I smelled from a decant. Dupe of some of the scents you mention or smells similar or close. I'll skip this one. Hopefully next one is going to be a solid release.
Has anyone recently purchased a bottle of Amouage Lyric Man? I bought one from FragranceX and everything looks legit, except for the fact the it has Lyric written under Amouage on the front of the bottle AND around the neck of the bottle. I have never seen a bottle with both and I always assumed it was one or the other. Do you think I got a fake?
Yes the bottle is updated. Go look up Lyric on the Amouage website it will show you the legit look now. Hope it's the same as yours! :)

In a couple of years , with more and more new releases, it’s going to be difficult to find a ORIGINAL scent…they all use the same ingredients + -…. There’s a finite number of combination you can do…when I heard the word , REMAINS ME … I say ok… I look at my collection, take the ones are similar, and decide if I’m going to buy it…simple..

This brand is super lazy. It is an expensive designer company, not niche at all. Don’t get me wrong, I like Layton, Layton and Pegasus Exclusif, Percival, but these are not amazing, they are just ok, worthy to have but a perfume lover won’t be astonished. For me retail prices are crazy. In my country I can get some of them at discounters and then it is a bargain but 350-400 dollars for a bottle? Hell no.
