Smells like a fall focused Love Don’t be Shy with added cinnamon and amped up vanilla. Much less sweet as well. Definitely different but I’m reminded of it. This is a beautiful, cozy and comforting scent. The dry down is almost like cream soda poured over vanilla bean ice cream. Love it. 9.5/10

Yeah he kept on saying surpy sweet and possibly cloying. I don't get that whatsoever but sweets but not over done. And I don't know what he's talking about with the synthetic note?

Etiket finally got the tester on Friday and as soon as I walked in, the perfume specialist Emma set it in front of me for me to smell and then proceeded to make me a few samples of it. Smells really great but I haven't tested it on skin yet. I'm sure I'll love it when I get it into the rotation because I adore vanilla in fragrances.
Haven't seen fragrance reviews for a long time but Althair interested me.
And I have to say respect how you improved the quality of your videos 😊 very entertaining and informing
Ash, I’m sure you’ve done them in separate videos but anyway you can do a video best PDM clones not just Layton? Greenly, Herod, Haltane and/or you favorite clones.
Maybe one for Amouge house also. I got a reflection man one from fragrance world and love it but it’s real weak. Thanks for the content, you’re the 🐐
Parfums de Marly and sister company Initio Parfums Privés were acquired earlier this year by a private equity firm. It will be interesting to see if the quality goes down and the prices go up now.

Got Altair a few weeks ago and I do like it, great for Fall! But, PdM has some heavy hitters that are hard to compete with. I’m actually wearing this today but Layton, Carlisle, are much better. But also very different.
Overall happy with this scent and happy to have it

Got a sample and I love it to me it’s giving Layton w/ HEAVY vanilla and I love Layton so I think it’s a cool spin def worth giving a try 🙏🏼
Bought a sample last week, like it, not love it, and it reminds me (a bit) of Initio Rehab when it starts to dry down. Not sure it's worth that full bottle price though due to lacklustre longevity, even with the PdM 25% bonus over yer standard 100ml bottles. Also, it does lean a little too much into the feminine for me, personally.

Althair is not too bad but IMHO no competition to Layton. This one smells just like spicy vanilla and definitly more a unisex fragrance
It smells very much like Boss Bottled Eau De Parfum. Testing out today and projection and longevity is great but cant help but be reminded of Boss Bottled
It doesn’t smell synthetic at all, to my nose, it’s a fragrance of extremely high quality. There might be differences between the US batches and EU batches, or perhaps you’re accustomed to fragrances of even higher quality. It reminds me of Layton, but at the same time, it smells different - it’s kind of strange 😂 I think they used the exact same vanilla or something similar.

I have Lafayette Street. And when I smelled ALTHAÏR that’s what i immediately thought of!
I’m so glad someone else said Lafayette Street from Bond #9. People thought I was crazy nonetheless, though this fragrance is beautiful.
I have Lafayette st. I went to the store and sprayed on ALTHAÏR. Wore it for a while and kept thinking this smells like something I have. Then it hit me Lafayette st!!

I just got this one in, I like it, but not ready to put it at the most reached for list this winter, it just does not have that uniqueness that can set it apart from some other scents. Guys may want to get a sample or decant before you pull the trigger on a full bottle.

I sampled this not long ago and this is a Combination of Initio Rehab, Aphrodisiac and add a shot of Percival mix it together. The birth of Althair.🎉 I'm a big fan of it . ❤

It reminded me of Bond No.9 Lafayette Street with cinnamon and bourbon vanilla! Is also think LS is a higher quality/price of Dunhill Desire Red

I agree that it’s not better than Carlisle, Layton, Oajan, but I do like it more than Herod.. It’s a beautiful scent that I’m glad I added to the collection, thanx for the review Ash

I bought this ….this is magic ….don’t listen to anyone …this is its own Vanilla , it’s own smokiness, own citrus & it’s own musk ….spray close on your skin and the dry down is amazing when the wind or cold weather hits
surprised no one mentioned that it smells like by the fireplace by maison marhgela but less smoky
Dunhill Desire was my signature fragrance back in 2001-02. My ex girlfriend LOVED it.

I would recommend Herod instead.
Frags can be broken up in genre's because that's the way they are designed. For example the Aventus genre, not clones, that have that vibe and that general vibe such as Explorer or Hacivat. Then there is the Blue genre inspired by Chanel and so on. You're doing it right bro. Keep it up.

Just a couple of things wrong with your comment. It was not sent by PDM in that condition, and it's a 125ml bottle, so it was $350

Balanced review and I agree. It’s a nice vanilla but it’s just that. Pleasant

PERFECT description of PdM's production of frags that are in the niche category, while some are def designer. Again agree, this one is in the designer category. Like all my 22 PdMs, it is Very Well Made. To my subjective nose it is a 'pleasant' designer scent....that is absolutely Not Worth $350. I tried the OG and then picked up a dupe from Dua. Given the pleasant and relatively simple note breakdown, guess what? This frag is So Easy to Layer, and it does that extremely well. Again, I won't spend $350 to find a frag I can layer. Lowest price I have found in Feb 2024 for Althair is $225 at a trusted discounted retailer. Disclaimer: my tastes lean strongly niche vice designer. Give me the two Exclusif flankers, Habdan and Oajan, and Herod as the ones that I reach for first.

That, or it's the "ALT"ernative to Musk's Burnt "HAIR"

I believe PDM name their fragrances after race horses. Although, of course, the horse could have been named after the Althair System located in Sector 9 of the Alpha Quadrant. Live long and prosper, and smell nice whilst you're doing it.

PDM is hard to fault. This fragrance imo is their miss and I think its because Im not a fan of perfumers attempting to make a vanilla-smoke/incense combo work. This smells dated. It isnt particularly alluring or pleasing - it smells niche for the sake of niche whereas Layton was niche due to its pricetag but was also an easy to love scent. There was a fragrance Ash recommended with a similar vibe from Issey Miyake. I bought it and sold it at a slight loss on ebay bc the combo wasnt for me. For cool weather - Layton, Habdan or Herod are my recommends.

I agree, it smells like Dunhill Red/ Lafayette from Bind no9 without the apple. It’s pretty nice but not worth the $
For me the dry down remind me of le male elixir without lavender
Got Althair delivered today. Was surprised how much is reminds me of Pegasus. So, I sprayed both Althair and Pegasus on tester strips and I couldn't tell them apart until the dry down/base notes at which they definitely depart scent profiles as the Althair stayed far sweeter and fresher. Maybe it's my nose today...but really could not distinguish in the opening and heart notes.
Note: You're completely right, it's very helpful to have a fragrance compared to others, gives valuable info.

I got a root beer vibe. Smells most like Alexandria Fragrances Cacao Dreams Prive with more vanilla. Really enjoy it but zero chance I’m paying $250-300, that’s hilarious pricing in the clone era.
The pronunciation of PDM Althaïr was wrong😊: there are 2 dots on the I😉, so it is Altha ir ☺️
PdM really needs to up the quality of their packaging. At that price point to have a plain box is kind of an insult.

Pegasus minus Almond and lavendar plus lots of sweetened Vanilla and a little cinnamon. Armaf should make another Craze flanker of this one. I layered Armaf Craze and Mercedes Club Black on the left and Althair on the right. Took votes in the house. MCB + Craze won 5 to 0.
ima say i just smelled this. and the other niche’s. vs the disigners. there is no comparison. maybe the new elixirs compare. but the niche fragrances smell like a bubble with all the notes in it and you can pick then up as they come. and the designers are at least 30% weaker. and as soon as you smell niche you learn the difference between synthetic and natural. this one does not have a synthetic feel it has that natural bubble of scent i was just talking about

It smells like a JPG fragrance but waaay better balanced
PdM is almost always ultra oversweetened with nothing to balance it out. I think a few are alright but moreso I think PdM is popular because people have more money than sense. They're like a luxury restaurant for people who's favourite food is Mars Bars.

Yea i think so too. There is also a lot of impressively close clones out there for almost all pdm‘s, which initselfs shows how basic most of them are.

I don’t get the whole niche fragrances smelling designer? Why are designer houses designer and why are niche houses niche?
I tried this at Saks last week and I was sorely disappointed as I found this nauseating. The Orange Blossom dominated the entire range and admittedly this is not a note I like. Do not blind buy.
Man herod exclusif is something ive been asking Pdm for years lol they always like my comments so it may still come . I use duas attar version and sold my original herod since i enjoy dual better. But the herod smell is up there in my top 5 with l air du desert morocain , layton, l immensite, br540, dior homme intense... so id loveee to see an exclusif herod.
With its price tag its hard choice...

Had it. It’s an average, basic vanilla frag. Sold it the next day. There are so many better vanilla and Fall frags out there for much less money.
