Your videos always make my day Aaron as someone who also loves fragrances and is getting into perfumery I learn a lot from you and you are the most down to earth master perfumer out there
Aaron you are phenomenal .Not sure how i havent found your channel until now.But you make other perfume reviewers sound like nowadays sports commentators that talk about the games without ever setting a foot on the field.Absolutely the best!
Love this fragrance. I finally pulled the trigger on it a couple of months ago after a few samples of it. Just in time for the colder weather seasons. It’s probably my favourite PDM so far. Just beautiful to smell.
I freaking love you :-) thank you for this review I absolutely enjoy the fragrance itself, and I'm super excited for the next video! Also, by the way, I love the backdrop!
I’m a big fan of your fragrance descriptions. I have Haltane . Such a great perfumery from PDM . I’m learning all the notes and aroma chemicals. The way you explain is easy to understand how these ingredients work . Thanks a lot
As a woman I love love Haltane. It’s amazingly clean, but sweet and powerful. Smells amazing on me and every time I wear it I receive tons of compliments. Great review!
I really like how you explain what season or event it is occasional for. Hoping for international shipping available soon 🙏
I have tested Haltane and find it quite likeable. I already have a fragrance of a similar vibe, so I will not likely pick it up. Fantastic review, Aaron.
I needed my daily “how’re you?” Today. Thanks for the review mate
Great analysis as always, Aaron. Please consider also reviewing Kalan by Parfums de Marly. Cheers!
Great review!
Interesting I wore Haltane yesterday the day you uploaded your video. I like it a lot and find it to be very strong and projecting. As a matter of fact i had someone come into my office and tell me they didn't like it and that it was very strong and it hurt their throat and gave them a headache!! 😢. I was a little trigger happy with it though, i did 7 or 8 sprays! I will just dial it back next time I'm in the office..
Today I i have the pleasure of wearing Calislse!
Always tol notch Aaron thank you for your excellent reviews. If you can get your hands on it try "Le Male Essence" in the dark brown juice. It's reminiscent of Armani Privé Oud Royal only juicier and a bit sweet. I think you would really enjoy it.
New background looks 👌🏻
You are the best and honest reviewer. I bought blind buy many times by other youtubers. Most were just mediocre or below. I love the way you review it. Straight to the poins.
I would love to know your favourites.
Thank you
You are right about that. I was disappointed.
Great review as always. Love the background on this review. I have Sedley and was leaning towards getting Layton. May have to get the sample of Haltane before pulling the trigger over Layton.
Try a sample of Layton first as I find it very weak since they dropped the concentration, not worth the money now imo.
I much more prefer Haltane over Layton. But thats just me 😂
Awesome. Loved the video
My prayers have been answered, haha! I knew you would love it
I'm wearing Haltane rite now. Love it. A really likeable fragrance. I think a few of the ladies can rock it too. A really good perfume if you want to try oud and musk.
From what I remember, there was some consternation regarding concentrations... but what it came down to was that the method used to compute what written on the label was not the right and proper method. So people who look at older boxes thinking they get more, they just get the same.
Love your technical expertise and insights. HALTANE: Love this fragrance!!!
Aaron, if you like this then there is the king of this scent signature from Ormonde Jayne, called Oudh Flor, which is also a Harrods exclusive, like Haltane. I've had samples of Haltane and Oud for Greatness, but these are only the supporting acts to Oudh Flor! Please see if you can get some and make it a triple test. I have many of your fragrances, so I know you'd love it and feel inspired by it! 😊
I realy enjoy this release ❤ oud for greatness is good but prefer this with the praline note makes it smooth and more appealing to the people around you. Thanks Aaron for a top notch review.
I’m with you here! OFG reformulation ruined the longevity! This is the better option!
He ain’t lied not one time about this fragrance he spot on with everything he said about it👊🏾
I would love it if you'd do a review of my favorite fragrance right now, regent leather by thameen.
I think you're amazing at what you're doing, and i love watching your content
Nice review Aaron! This was the first PDM that I bought and the only one I have as a full bottle. I’m middle eastern and the oud in this really attracted me. Every time I wear it, I get a ton of compliments! Definitely a luxurious type formulation
im i washingt DC. where can i get this fragrance and how much does it cost
$410. Nordstrom, Saks, Bloomingdale’s, N Marcus.
When we westernes talk about these kind of frags being autumn/winter, you guys wear it in very hot temperatures, right?
How do they perform then? Because you guys are known for wearing these heavy frags all year round?
Cheers.
My whole PDM collection is pre reform 77% & 78% alcohol concentration. I do not like the new 82%. I dont believe Haltane has been reformed yet? Its not old enough imo and I haven’t heard anything at all. Haltane was the only bottle I didn’t love at first and sold. But I have a decant and have really started to like it lately. I had it during the spring so it wasn’t ideal. Winter is on the way so maybe Ill get another. Awesome review btw Aaron thank you.
Bro, I sure wish I could find a place to purchase a few of your fragrances. Maxaroma is always out of what I want in the states and your site doesn't ship to the USA. Great review...I have Haltane.
I just came here again to just listen to Aron talking. Calms me down that is :D
You're getting 100K !! 🎉🎉🎉
I’ve missed you 💜
Good review Aaron I'm going to take a guess on which was the only one parfums de marly fragrance that you didn't like that you briefly mentioned but didn't say, I bet it was Kalan?
Great review , can you do a review on PDM Kalan as it’s a very polarizing fragrance from this house ?
Thank you Aaron.
I love it when Ethyl Maltol whips through the base!
Lollll
They have indeed dropped the concentration which has effected the longevity in my experience. Price is very high now - taking this into account.
Just learned the company was bought out 2 months ago together with Initio - it would explain the price bump and lower quality
Yep PDM and Initio sold for 700 million in July 2023 to Advent International
That is a lie
@Athanatos250 no problem with longevity that is a lie
@@MrDextratorno they haven't sold their business yet
Haltane is a great release. I've been testing a sample of Althair and love it too.
Is it just me or does Haltane and Althair have a similar aromatic (yet somehow still rich) opening?
I think ALTHAÏR is a lovey scent. I bit like a smoother Noir extreme, with more vanilla and some caramel running through it.
Dam I love them both
This is a great fragrance…I fell in love with it when I first smelled it and had to pull out my card to pay right away😂
Your style is awesome!!!!
Chanel 1957 or Cuir De Russie would be great for you to review. Both amazing
So glad you reviewed this one. My favorite fragrance in my collection.
Hey Aaron! You should review manceras new perfume “cosmic pepper”.
About the concentration: yes they decreased their concentration by 2-5% (depends on the frag) a few years ago. All the newer concentration bottles have the percentage on the bottom of the box. The stronger ones did not have percentage on the box
Yup, I was nervous when I got my bottle of Akaster and it didn't have that on the bottle then some one explained it to me. Makes sense as I don't have to spray much. Good thing is it will last me "forever"
Nice to know I'm not buying it then
Haltane, Carlisle and Herod are hands down my favourite PDMs
Aaron love you man. Top guy.
Give us that Aaron Terrence version of an old man scent to remind us of hugging our loved ones gone but not forgotten
Have you reviewed Kalan yet? It would be very interesting to see your reaction to it.
I love this one but didn't particularly like Oud for greatness. I feel this one is more wearable and fresher. Looking forward to the comparison video.
They have reduced Layton's concentration. I believe they used to be 78% alcohol, nowadays they are 82%.
I asked PDM's customer service about this, this is what they said;
"Please kindly note that we certify the mass percentage of alcohol, contained in our formulas, has not changed.
Based on our regulatory partner’s recommendations and advice, from 2020, we have adapted our calculation method leading to a revision of the alcoholic percentage mentioned on our EAU DE PARFUM/ PARFUM packaging."
They may have been reformulated in other ways, or maybe you think they're lying but that's straight from PDM
I was under the impression that they had to reformulate because of ingredients being banned.
yeah, my bottle of layton doesnt last very long or project much. Which is very different from what it was before the reformulation
This is my favorite house still, even though they have reduced the concentration from 78% to 82%. I own three fragrances, from this house because of Aaron's recommendation: Herod, Oajan, and Layton.
Pdm is my favorite house and just because they changed stuff a little bit there fragrance are still the same. They have not sold their business yet I hope they don't
@@jts4248they are not the same , for the price they charge , the least they can do is Longevity and projection , my Layton used to last a whole day , now lasts 5 hours with mid projection , Was about to buy Haltane , reading through the comments many people are having performance issues too .
this is a fav of mine! i think Herod is their best but this is a second for me... this is very classy and manly, very grown up and sophisticated. and much more wearable on any occasion where as Herod is more for special occasions and dates and such. thic could be worn to the office or whatever, its almost like a liniment or kinda aftershave balm vibe to it... iven kinda vintage first aid kit with the old liniment and smelling salts... i get that vibe a bit and it takes me back to my childhood...
This is by far my favorite PDM! I’m actually typing this before I watch the video. So I’m very interested in what you think and say about it?!
So is the comparison video going to be with this and Initio Oud for Greatness by any chance? Lol
Glorious perfumery as usual from PDM, radiant and cleansing
Dam right love pdm. They have not sold their business yet I hope they don't
Nice to watch reviews from someone in the industry. I own 9 PDM fragrances. My favorite is Carlisle and Oajan. Do you plan on reviewing Althair?
I also enjoy Carlisle...do you have spring/summer favorites?
This is the only PDM that I gravitated towards and own a full bottle - didn’t know this is their version of their other house… Initio’s OFG… never put nose on that scent.
Best reviewer on you tube and doesn’t it do it for the sponsors or the scams.
Haltane is such a wonderful scent
On my skin I got good performance on my samples of this. Got two compliments in two days. Agreed that it is too strong and sweet for warm weather.
This is very much an Oud for Greatness take, more towards the sweeter direction with more wearability. Perhaps worth it for those that are newer to niche and don't want something as challenging as Oud for Greatness. I wouldn't recommend it to anybody myself.
I was about to say that, it has an oud for greatness smell. I heard that it was the same perfumer? I know it's the same company that owns both PDM & Initio
Imo OFG isn't that challenging considering it's an "Oud" fragrance.
Purchased a OFG decant in 2021 because of the hype, and I had zero clue what OUD was. Upon first smell it was HORRIBLE (like a barn) to me. I even washed it off (attempted to). Over the next few days I watched as many video reviews I could find and eventually did another skin test (from my 2mL).
On the 2nd wear I LOVED IT!! I mean I was completely blown away from start to finish. ❤❤ I have no idea why my first experience was like it was.
The only thing I could figure is my brain was registering and processing the new olfactory stimuli (since I’d never smelled Oud before).
…but yeah I like ❤PDM Haltane also.
I love OFG but I am yet to encounter another person that actually likes the smell irl.
Yes I had the same exact experience, first time I sprayed it on I had to wash it off, my nose just wasn't prepared for it.
Second time was much better
I have Herod in 82% and I have no issues with projection or longevity
This is a grown-up classic fragrance it was exclusive to harrods initially. This is in my top 3 PDM fragrances, and I have 10. I think it is an occasion scent. I would not wear it every day, but definitely when you want to feel good. I also think it deserves a body wash and deodorant spray shaving cream moisturiser etc so you get the whole experience with this scent. I have this with acqua di parma colonia and when you do the whole routine you feel amazing
What are your top 2?
@Danny12777
Carlisle
Kalan
Haltane
Herod
Layton
Ouajan
Sedley
Pegasus
Percival
Greenley
Probably in that order but its hard as they all perform amazingly
Could you try some of the Loewe fragrances?
One of my favorite for cold weather....last on me 12+hrs😎
I have haltane and I love it,if you like oud for greatness then you will love this
Aaron please Review Layton ❤️💙
I bought Layton recently and was disappointed with the performance, it was bought from Harrods so isn’t a fake, I waited a long time to buy this so such a shame , I’m now buying more Xerjoff as these always perform
this is BEAST !
Akaster is their oud-rose offering. Also, Layton Exclusif has oud in it :)
I have been looking for an Akaster, i missed out on it and regretted every day since haha
@@gentlemangaz3651they have samples on cologne collection I got 10ml for £20
Probably my favorite from the house.
I also think they have reformulated their fragrances because I bought Layton 3 months ago and I am a bit disappointed with the performance, I don't get more than 6-7 hours longevity...
Xerjoff Tony Iommy I think it would be to your taste🙂
Hi Aaron! It's me, your friend from PSH 😊
I love it & have the Harrods version!
To me it smells similar to Oud for Greatness! which I have too…
Makes sense since PDM and Initio are a sister brand and use some of the same perfumers.
They indeed reduced the oil concentration. I've got an older Herod and Layton with 22% oil concentration, newer batches have 18% concentration
everything is getting smaller and more expensive
What About the Percival ?
I could be wrong but I don’t think haltane got diluted. I think it’s been 80 from the release. The price did increase a bit though
Nothing wrong with the new batches I have old ones as well
@@RustyTridentsyeah they're trippin. If they watered this down already after only 2 years that's bonkers for 1, and you're right lol it's been 80% since release.
Oud for Greatness is good, however Golden Oud by Al Harimain takes the cake if you like a true aromatic oud fragrance. with actual oud from the middle east as its intended to be.
Will Haltane perform well in a tropical climate like India?
Ethyl maltol whipping through the base 🥰
What Mic do you use? It's whipping through the base.
Aaron can you do a review on ELDO Rien or Rien Intense Incense
Review Althair plss
Love the smell love how long it lasts however this has zero projection its an intimate in the manor you have to be really close for someone to smell it
You are right about that. I was disappointed.
There is something wrong with the camera focus when you're moving your hands too close. Never happened before. Probably some setting. If you can't figure it out, perhaps ask Chris. He's an expert in cams.
I do enjoy M Micallef fragrances. My favorite is Desir Toxic.
Please do althair
my bet for comparison is by the same company: Oud for Greatness.
Their new Althair is really nice as well. Insanely long lived.
Same company?
@@Dr_allstar21 Initio and PDM have the same parent company
Initio and pdm are owned by husband and wife (to my knowledge)
yep, all been reformulated recently, the alcohol concentration used to be around 78%, now it's at 80-82%, depending on the actual scent (now they print the % to the sticker on the bottom of the bottle too, it was only on the bottom back then)
PS: let me guess: you are comparing this with Initio Oud for Greatness, right? :)))
i guess so)
Wasn’t the reformulation in 2020, but Haltane came out in 2021
@@blackknightdlreformulations happened in 2021, but I guess they will eventually tone down newer fragrances as well.
They reduced the concentration? My Haltane which I’ve purchased recently lasts forever on me though. I’ve smelled it on my jacket for weeks 😅
Ah, you’re reviewing Haltane! Does this mean Althaïr is next??? 😍
You will compare it to Oud for greatness?
What are your thoughts on M7 by Ysl
They reduced the concentration of all of their fragrances as well as removed some of the materials used because of FDA regulations.
They removed Butylphenyl Methylpropional and at least from what I´ve tried the performance/longevity is pretty mediocre..
I’ve had a similar experience.
Laytons and Haltanes no longer perform well , talking from experience , Too bad because Haltane is my favorite PDM overall.
I need that Terence fragrance ASAP I like crisp clean scents any recommendations?
Crisp and clean: PDM Percival, Creed Aventus Cologne, Chanel Allure Homme Sport, Prada Luna Rossa Carbon
bet the comparison vid is with initio's oud for greatness
Has the video your about to record after this got anything to do with Initio OFG ??
can you do althair next
Please test Vertus Vanilla Oud!!!
Akaster should also be an oud PDM perfume
Yes, Parfums de Marly reduces the concentration of their fragrances. Tested Carlisle when it was 77 % alcohol and got a bottle with 81 %, which smelled remarkably worse than the older sample.
I got a 2021 bottle of Herod, and it was complete garbage, like 2 hours of longevity. My 2022 Percival is also not nearly as strong, as it used to be. Around 6-7 hours and a subtle skin scent afterwards. I'm done with this scam house. When my other bottles run out, I'm not buying anything again.
@@againstthestones I’m with you on this , my Layton was weak as hell , these companies get popular and then dilute everything down , Creed is a good example, these aren’t cheap and I expect performance.
@@againstthestones
Yeah I went to Dua Fragrances, and got their interpretation of Herod and it was almost spot-on and lasted a hell of a lot longer
that's shameful for a luxury house who charge way more for watered down frags.
Probably one of my least favorite PDM. Kinda contemplating getting it just to complete the collection but on the other hand I’d never use it hmmmm what to do what to do
Just get a backup Percival instead
I love it and it would be my signature but it's the price for me, too expensive.
I reached out to pdm regarding the reformulation. This is what they said.
