Steve, I wish I could have personally told you that you've inspired me and many, many others with your pure vibrancy, energy and talent to ignite an audience with using the most basic means! R.I.P.

I knew Steve, very well. I used to play keyboards with him a little after the time of this interview when the packet of three became the Official Receivers.. We used to fill pub gigs to the rafters, and every one was nothing but great fun. Steve had an irrepressible personality and an irreverent sense of humour. His guitar playing was fantastic, and I have some Marriott stories that can only be told face to face, but the most tragic aspect of his story is that he didn't die a millionaire. Like most musicians of the sixties, he was robbed mercilessly. If there is an afterlife, (which of course there definitely isn't) Mr. Don Arden and many others of his ilk will surely be suffering eternal torment.

Reminds me of some of the greats like the Kinks. Steve is a kick ass rocker and I bumped into his music later and have been astounded at his prowess in rock. He is a giant, genuine, and very very good at rock and roll.

Did you know a drummer Steve worked with called Dave Hynes ?

@@leonweller9903 - I never played with him, but there were two Hynes brothers who I got to know. I remember that one or both of them had health problems. From what I remember, they were great guys.

Steve Marriott what a guy…the quintessential cockney geyser, but what a fantastic talent, part of the Britain I grew up in.

I'm reading a biography of Marriott at the moment which is a collection of anecdotes by family members & others who knew him. He did not burn down his school, according to his sister all he did was drop a match between a crack in the floor of his classroom, nothing more than a little smoke was the outcome.
He did not appear as the Artful Dodger on stage either, he understudied the part.
A great talent but he had a habit of making up & exaggerating stories & could be a complete t**t by all accounts, described as a bully & a c**t by those who knew him.
