As much as I agree with you sympathetically, I have to say though, having my boy Tiva around for as long as I can remember, he gave me substance and depth in my life he showed me that I don’t need to have connection with human beings in order to be happy. He taught me how to find happiness in myself and the things around me. And he didn’t even speak a single word and he taught me the values of love and friendship. God I miss him.
Reading this scene in the manga made the psychology especially poignant because "deals" between Devils and Humans are not only oral. They are more like contracts or Geas, you literally cannot break a contract once its been sealed. I remember so much pain that intensified over time about Pochita's sacrifice.
@@GeorgiaDow you should do a whole psychological review on chainsaw man and its characters there is alot of interesting things the manga and I hope the anime will put up and show, with this whole manga about denji growing up learning connection and to not be obsessive over learning everything nonstop obsorbing information, and also not being ignorant and letting people abuse you. It's a beautiful story I hope you see through all of it
You technically can break a contract. You just die if you do. Although it does appear that when you sacrifice something to a devil like flesh or senses, it is instantaneous. If you made a contract with a devil to do something and you don't, you die.
I actually teared up when Makima hugged Denji. For some reason that moment of someone treating him like a normal person after all the craziness of the episode really hit me hard.
6:42 me watching every Denji x Pochita scene: As a manga reader, I have a little more baggage about their friendship. Watching the scene where Pochita becomes Denji's heart made me cry. The soft music and the emotional mood hit me really hard.
Spoilers!! For manga) The next thing you know potchita turns into a blood thirsty devil capable of fighting all the hybrids at once and makima, and completely destroying them too
It´s also interesting that Denji´s first reaction wasn´t "Hey, I have my eye back." (and probably kidney and ball too). A friend and me commented Pochita might be looking at Denji´s dream from the regrown eye.
This woman is becoming one of my favorite content creators for apparently to pick apart the subtle nuances of the characters and the various themes that guide the media she examines. She brings a more broad open discussion with each series she tackles and her insight is so fascinating. Especially cause the media she chooses to analyze a lot of that I enjoyed is animation. She’s able to give a deep discussion for a medium that’s widely not given enough credit. Not to mention she adds that occasional personal empathy. By the time I finished this video, I was crying too. Probably my favorite one she did. So thank you as always. TvT
The relationship between Denji and Pochita feels like an unsubtle metaphor for the power of vulnerability. The reason they have their link and can be as strong as they are is because they share their vulnerability with each-other: Pochita as a tiny member of his kind, and Denji as an exploited homeless kid. This vulnerability is a very real part of them. Their hybrid form is strong, but manifesting the saws causes them pain. They are using what harmed them to make them stronger, but its still a painful process.
i will never get over the fact that anime, in 20 minutes can deliver a more impactfull story arc than a 2 hours long movie, is just incredible. These writters, can set the world, characters, and motivation with so little time. I think one of the best examples is the first episode of Attack on titan.
Such a softy! Don't worry though, these allergies of mine really started kicking up during your analysis. I hope we see more from you on this series, as the characters, their motivations and relationships are all wonderful, and surprisingly touching, given it is about a man who sprouts chainsaws from his body. If you really want to emotionally devastate yourself, I thoroughly recommend the one shot manga "Look Back," by Chainsaw Man's creator Tatsuki Fujimoto, if you haven't read it already. It's beautiful and sad, and very honest. No chainsaws though.
.... Anime is often SO wonderfully weird and yet raises an (or several) interesting point. Every single anime is about the value of friendship in some way and every one is just as touching as the previous one. I never saw Chainsaw Man, but it does look to be adorable!
The fact that Denji found comfort in Pochitas company, even tho his life was the way it was. Was truly beautiful. Really makes me appreciate more the total luxury that it is, to be able to live "a normal life".
Ngl I first started reading CSM at a really poignant point in my life, my relationships failing, career in the gutter, mentally and emotionally shaken by events. Reading this really brought back the sense that it could be crazier but it definitely felt weird relearning things like what makes a relationship, why someone wants something and so on. Watching your video just really drove that back home, so thank you.

Also your explanations are always very well done, I appreciate you going into details about specific topics related to the main one, it really adds up to the depth and value of the video. What I like the most is you showing your emotions though, it adds a layer that you wouldn't really see in any other type of analysis, it makes your content unique. It's kinda like rewatching the series and experiencing all the emotions once again, but much more powerful than an actual rewatch. Seeing you feel the same, or something deeper or different, gives so much more weight to certain scenes or themes seen in the show and makes me appreciate it more. I don't usually comment but I really wanted to let you know how much I appreciate your videos, you really deserve much more recognition, I'll share your channel with as many people as possible (already did with some friends). I love the fact that they got Shiori Izawa to voice Pochita. The only problem is having the flashbacks to Made in abyss which is another amazing series. Oh, what a wholesome little anime (wink-wink). But really, I'm fascinated with how the opening alludes that the relationships in the show are ones of abandon, almost mad. Being so alone that you're willing to free not only that feeling when you do find someone, but willing to forgo reason, pride, social norm. Basically if two broken people find each other, they just enjoy being broken together, going mad not because their loniness broke them, but because what are the odds of two people to be that messed and alike and for fate to allow them to meet. Not anyone would survive such a relationship.
If you ever think about doing Makima, I think you should wait and see a couple of episodes to really get to know the true her. Probably would have to see more than the intially planned 12 episodes
