Pete’s humility is why he is one of my favorite climbers (and pro athletes in general) ever. The man gives us a list of everything he noticed that he needs to improve on, and then casually drops that he’s on a V17 haha
Im curious how he does on that climb and if its actually anywheres near v17 level. Hes got shoes on and double kneepads so thats a lot of “aid” compared to barefoot. Plus crack climbing is a very different style to “normal” climbing. People can climb v16s and probably can’t do v5 crack problems 😂
The moment I've seen Charles crack video, I (and many others in the comments) have been wondering if Pete is going to have a go at it! I'm so glad he did! So psyched! 🤟
Why i always get impressed about Pete abilities if i know already you are incredible? You make feel everything casual, and we fell you just like one more of the climbing neighbourhood. Thanks for the nice content.
I know that it may be a strange colab, but anton fomenko (ex ninja warrior) has been climbing a lot recently, It would be tons of fun watching some competition between you and also teach him the ways in the cellar
Magnus knows Anton so he could introduce you but I think Anton has tendonitis at the moment which is why he is doing less ninja stuff in his videos at the moment.
I was watching some younger Pete the other day on Hot Aches Productions. Trying to combat nerves on a scary climb by trying to imagine it was top roped. Pete maybe you should have just said top rope, top rope, top rope during comps.
Someone should create an all-crack training board where there are benchmark problems for all the classic jams. Imagine having access to something like that in your gym 👊😍
It's always funny when i see some videos with Swiss athletes i don't know. Since i don't follow climbing outside of yt i only knew of Petra Klinger. So first thing i do was trying to figure out where she's from by her accent - got to say: she has a great English and no distinct accent... open second window - google her name. Turns out, she's from the French speaking part. Makes me even more impressed about the (non-)accent! Now back to watching you guys climbing - which is what i'm here for. Edit: just checked out her youtube channel - now it's clear why she has very good English... it's her first language / mother tongue xD
The climbing comp at the next Olympics should have crack sections in it, including off-widths. If it started with off-width then Pamela Shanti Pack, Trad Princess and Mari Salvesen would be on the podium and the current champions probably wouldn't figure. Competition sport climbing has much more varied holds than back in the day so why not cracks as well?
I'm not liking this recent trend in the climbing community of having discounts as prizes. I get that this is a high value product, and for that reason the price is very high, but knocking 50% off doesn't make it low. If you're going to collect names, emails and phone numbers, then... Have a prize, or don't.
It's nuts to me that somebody can climb for decades starting as a kid and never learn how to do basic crack climbing. Gyms have had cracks for a long time, don't people get curious? You don't even have to be into trad climbing, there are plenty of sport climbs outside where I find useful jams, and I try to imagine what other people would do there without jamming, like trying to sidepull/gaston a pocket or do other harder things with it.
I’m assuming you’re from the states? Because in western Europe cracks are very rare in gyms (and just thanks to the wide boys/World Cup hype, before it was nonexistent ) and not everyone climbs outside 🤷♂️ That being said I do agree that starting at a young age it would be cool that everyone gets to try everything and pick what they like! It’s going more and more in this direction imo with climbing growing… which causes other problems 😂
@@samr2733 Yep I live in Seattle, Washington and basically every gym here (even bouldering gyms) have some sort of crack route or crack trainer area. But our gyms here are pretty old, including the oldest gym in the USA (Vertical World) which were heavily influenced by outdoor climbers during their inception, and there are lots of cracks to climb around here outside.
@@Govanification I’ve heard about that ! I think it’s cool. I think the crack culture is just bigger in the US as in Europe, it’s a running joke here, after dying to come up a crack in chamonix to say “4a in the states” 😂

It's ironic how incredibly down-to-earth he is considering he's such an amazing climber 😅
@sploo13 well….now im even more psyched to see how Pete does on this monster. 😄
@sploo13 what are you talking about? he's climbed V13, in addition to 8c, 8c+, and 9a routes.
Psyched to see you on Barefoot Charles' crack!
So glad you had Sofya on! She’s a lot of fun to watch and crazy strong!
The moment I've seen Charles crack video, I (and many others in the comments) have been wondering if Pete is going to have a go at it! I'm so glad he did! So psyched! 🤟
Letschti besti! 😂 Didn't think I'd hear Pete utter Swiss-German in my lifetime haha
Ha!! Didn’t expect to see literally my two favorite climbers in one video ❤️❤️
Sofya, Pete, great video, thanks, helps a lot!

Legendary quote: "If you can climb faster than gravity, you won't fall" - Sofya Yokoyama
This gym is close to my house. I should probably start climbing soon
I liked the climbing board that could mirror boulders to work either side of your body the same 👍🏽
+11?!? That gives Sofya longer arms than I do at 168cm tall 😮 (I'm -4cm). Amazing!
Blimey! A 'Diamond C' tee-shirt. They must be pretty rare - especially one that doesn't appear to be in tatters; has there been a retro-issue?
I don't think this is a re addition, I've had it a very long time.
I know that it may be a strange colab, but anton fomenko (ex ninja warrior) has been climbing a lot recently, It would be tons of fun watching some competition between you and also teach him the ways in the cellar

The strongs Engländer in french swizzy la la land. the best climber from UK

Yooo that’s my gym!! Hahah i can’t believe it
looks like a good board!
Great video. Tension board looks superb. Maybe if I say 'Tension Board looks superb' on enough videos the Castle Climbing Centre will get one.
dude pete I'm unironically digging your hair(style) rn. A little higgledy-piggledy and mussy, it looks very chill :) good video as always
What ?! Pete @ my home gym ?! What are you doing in lausannne ?
I stopped off to try Barefoot Charles' crack on the way back

hell yeah! check out our hard routes in valais, i think theres some untouched cracks for you to finger
The fact Pete always forgets to mention, is that crack climbing is as much pain tolerance as it is technique xD
Would love to see some videos on the crack boulder!
There will be one coming 👍
Two of my favorite climbers in my gym???

I clicked this so fast
Her ability to not cut feet is crazy

I missed Pete in my local gym damn !
Good watch
where can i got that wideboys knee pad plsplsplspls?? 🥺🥺
Coming soon. Finalising a few things 👊stay tuned
wait, i know that gym, it's the one i always went to when I was in my exchange lol
Did Sofya just say she had a +11 ape index?!?
Shout out le cube
very good
17:39 for what you came here for :)
Pete comes to my gym and I never knew :(
«My weak parts is power and strenght» hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
Are you allowed to bring crack gloves to a World Cup competition? I can’t see having enough time to properly tape up.
Crack Gloves aren't allowed in international comps, same as Kneepads
The constricting finish crack seems like a questionable choice.
Lolz... The consequences in comp climbing weren't high enough to concentrate Pete's mind.
Just one big advert!

I am attracted to excellence, and I constantly see that in you Pete, and, you're kind on the eyes. 😊
This is creepy
