She started singing from a young age as a way to overcome a speech problem caused by the trauma and abuse she suffered at the hand of her mother, who abandoned her at an early age with an injured collarbone on the streets of Russia. Great reaction! She was 15 when she sang Human. The following performance was from a Russian show that aired last fall, and ran for 9 weeks. There were 9 singers who were also the judges and critiqued each other. There were 9 genres of music they had to perform over the course off the show. Thus Diana sang in many different styles.

Diana (dee-ah-na) was abandoned at a bus stop in the winter with a broken collarbone by her abusive mother at the age 3 and placed in an orphanage, diagnosed with cognitive impairment. Her adoptive mother had her enroll in singing lessons to help with some speech problems due to abuse and neglect. Her singing talent was immediately noticed and the rest, as they say, is history. It's a safe prediction that you'll have goosebumps and say that's the most unique voice you've ever heard.

Diana has the ability to play with her tones, her tamber, and in many songs she mixes her tones more than here, where she showcased her deeper overtones. Her earlier songs include Wicked Game, Blizzard, Rechenka, and even Yodel Time (she was only 13, her first real appearance which caused a scandal as the judges didnt turn, the winners were pre-determined). She then entered last year (she was 18) a show call "the Show Must Go On", where she competed with 9 other professional singers, who judged each other. Wicked game, reshanka, can't help falling in love, it's a man's world
Diana Ankudinova was only 16 when this performance took place. This cover of "Human" by Rory Charles Graham, better known as Rag'n'Bone Man's, now belongs to Diana and it really demonstrates that Diana Ankudinova has a true contralto sound which is a rare female voice type. In particular, the tone quality, timbre, the roundness of her sound, her resonance, and the depth of her voice define her as a "dramatic contralto", the rarest of the rare type of contralto. Diana is also a real polyphonic singer which in itself is also a rare talent and is a vocal technique that creates two different tones at the same time which makes it sound like two different voices at the same time. Diana does this through the resonance which she creates by using the airflow through the lungs, throat, mouth, and tongue placement. This polyphonic sound is why some people mistakingly think she is using a voice synthesizer or vocoder to manipulate and alter her sound, or there's another voice singing off stage, or she is singing over a pre-recorded track, which she is not.
To get an idea of Diana's vocal development and progression, I recommend you listen to these performances. There are a lot of other live performances but I think these are the best representation that shows her vocal progress and I would recommend them in the following order:

And finally, Diana won this competition.
Diana is one of the most talented singers of her generation. I think that the most talented, but let's be objective - one of the talented. The range of her voice... This is the most notably lowest sounding of the 15yr old Dianas early competition Recordings but you need to here Wicked game or Rechenka she is capable of singing as a contralto and higher... She has superb control and stage presence.. shes still only 18 and has won another major TV entertainers competition.
You will have to get used to goosebumps shes got a vocal range of three octaves and superb control..
Best look up her history on wiki so you know where she started from 😕 and how far she had already came by the time she was only ten.🎆🇬🇧💖🧙♂️

Diana performed this song on the show You Are Super, which was a singing competition for orphaned and disadvantaged children. This was her second year on the show, a "Champions" edition for finalists from previous shows. She won the previous year.
She was 15 when she sang Human. If you like her stage presence and that tribal sound you should listen to Rechenka (The River) which she sang at 14.
It is based on Russian folktales about a young betrothed orphan girl who goes to the river, the boundary between the living and the dead, to ask her deceased mother's blessing for her marriage.

I lost count of your "wows") This is a normal reaction to Diana (aka "Queen of goosebumps"). She is a very talented Russian singer with unique voice. Diana won a number of Russian song competitions. The last one was last autumn. This performance is fantastic, since Diana demonstrated here a lot of facets of her vocal talent. Thank you for such sincere and emotional reaction. Btw Diana has her own account on YT containing many videos with her performances starting from early childhood.

Talking about female voices, I will now introduce to you and your readership one of the most emotionally impactful UNDERRATED female pop singers of all time. Her name was “Dusty Springfield” and she was from the UK. Sadly, she also recently passed away but in the 1960s and 70s, she had a worldwide following and a legacy of amazing songs. Most people were not even aware that she was the first to help bring the “Mowtown Sound” to the UK ( all the great individual and vocal groups that eventually became world famous she brought to the UK”. She was not a Mowtown singer and the 2 songs I recommend that you listen to have nothing to do with Mowtown.
Begin with “ A House Is Not A Home” popularized by Luther Vanderross( Luther also passed away recently ( R. I .P) but unbeknownst to most music lovers it was the famous composer Bert Bacharach who wrote “ A House Is Not A Home” SPECIFICALLY for Dusty!
I recommend you RUclips the 9 minute one where Burt and Dusty talk for awhile, and then Bacharach gets on the piano and starts the song, then about a quarter of the way through, the camera pans upward to Dusty who then sings the entire song with such emotional depth and feeling that it sent goosebumps down my spine. Be sure to post the one by “VeraCruz” and NOT the one by Frans Janson ( it’s the same song but the “Frans Janson” one is only about 3 minutes 37 seconds leaving out Bacharach.
Now that you know what an emotionally impactful vocalist Dusy is,
its time for your next song that summarizes her life and the life of many celebs who snub their friends when they were not famous but playing in small venues. But when famous, they live only for themselves and end up alone and miserable.
