"the drummer & the guitarist..." (LOL). That would be the Van Halen brothers, Alex & Eddie. Gotta love EVH using a power drill on some of those guitar rifs!!!
I have one of those old Makita drills just taking up space in my toolbox. I've always "threatened" to give it that iconic paint job and give it a place on my garage wall. Can't think of a reason why I shouldn't follow through....
Hagar had an interview where he talked about this song after it came out. He compared it to guys who always want the super pretty hot girl, fancy clothes, makeup, hair, all that. He said it was like buying a crepes Suzette for dessert. Once you get past all the fancy stuff, all you've got is a bunch of pancakes. What guys should be going for is good old poundcake, simple, delicious, filling, homegrown and down home never gets old.
I always took from this song is that sx with a woman you love is better than just sx with a ' hot girl'. "I've been out there, tried a bit of everything, it's all sex without love, I found the real thing is pound cake."
" I listen but can't help to get lost into it" ... that's called innovation. This song is as good as Van Hagar ever got. And this album sounds amazing - they went and hired Glyn Johns to engineer this record - Google THAT guy's resume sometime - and reunited with producer Ted Templeman. What you're hearing is Eddie premiering his newly designed signature guitar AND amplifier, Alex recording on acoustic drums for the first time in a decade, and some seriously great engineering and production.
Asia, Van Halen IS a frequency! Spot on girl! I’ve seen them live several times since their very first tour in 78. I’ve stood in front of Eddie’s cabinets and can honestly say, I’ve never seen anyone match the energy he could amass while playing. He was, and is one of a kind. What a privilege to have witnessed, and what a ride. EVH, taken much too soon. RIP.
