  • Is the BT-01 Chassis anything special? Well let's find out!
In this video I will go over steps 5 and 6 where we will attach the gear cover and the motor mount.
    THINGS TO BE AWARE OF:
If you're a beginner to the world of Tamiya R/C cars I don't think this kit is going to be for you. By choosing to go with a design that can be configured in multiple ways, Tamiya have chosen to go with multiple instruction manuals that don't stand alone. You have to refer to the different ones as you go along with the build process. I'm not a fan of this type of setup as it can be easy to make a mistake and find that you have to go back steps to fix things if you did something wrong. So to avoid any confusion, I will be building this car using the standard mid motor rear drive setup.
I have heard there are issues with this chassis so again I'll take you on this journey of discovery and when the build is complete I'll do a full review on the car and give you my thoughts.
But from what I already know about this chassis...it's not an easy build and can lead to confusion.
I have to tell you when this chassis was first released I was NOT excited about it. I'm not a fan of a chassis that is being designed so that you can build it in multiple configurations. With the BT-01, you can build it Front Motor Rear Drive/Front Motor Front Drive/Mid Motor Rear Drive. And when you can build a car three different ways it can often mean that it's sub-standard in all configurations. From what I'm hearing, my concerns are valid as others are finding there is "slop" in the chassis in multiple places.
So, in theory, having a kit that can be built in three different configurations is fantastic...and as this video will show, I'm excited about building this one. But I'm not convinced that my excitement will last once we get into the build process.
Be sure to subscribe and hit that notification button if you'd like to follow along. There may be some frustrating moments in the build series and I intend to show you everything I experience along the way.
    Wish me luck!

Couple of simple steps, those are what’s great to see some quick progress when working on a build!

As a whole John it's a pretty cool build! Some of the steps seem pretty easy but like you say it's nice to see immediate progress with only a couple quick things to do.

Very. Some of the steps in the build make me wonder why they just didn't add it to other steps rather than make them as individual steps. But as a whole things go together nicely.

Getting it done. Interested to see what that sticky foam is there for.

was going to sat the same. Although I have missed out a lot of foam cushioning from various kits in the past as it wasn't really needed

I realized as I was getting further along that the foam is there for the battery as it acts like a battery compartment side wall.
