Laura you’re such a beautiful soul ❤. You always put a smile on my face. I can see childlike true happiness when you find a great piece. Jessie is a gentle soul and the two of you make such a beautiful couple.
she really is and thats rare these days❤
Just started watching your videos. I’m not a reseller but enjoy you and Jesse together. Your infectious smile and positivity is what makes me tune in.
So glad you passed on the teal S&P set. I got the info off the label you showed, called the Little Antique Mall and they’re on their way to CT! Yay!
I just sold my house in wine country Temecula, CA. One thrill the last three years was driving our RV up the coast of Cali, Oregon and Washington To my hubs office in Tacoma. We went all the way to Port Townsend. He would pull over anywhere I wanted and let me thrift the coast. I watched and followed where you would go. THANK YOU YOU!!!!! I met another Laura follower whilst I found I HUGE Keneth Edward’s Mexican Platter. I collect it. I will miss coast thrifting. Moving back to gorgeous Colorado to a mid mod house. Time to decorate. I’ll be copying you and Justine blakeney.
I love when Jesse is with you. You 2 put a smile on my face!😊
Hi Guys - that marbled lampshade is a Plafonnier or flycatcher lampshade. It's the whole thing and not some part of a chandelier - it's hung exactly as it's meant to be from 3 hooks. I have about 4 or 5 around my house and they cast beautiful light! Love your videos.
I actually appreciate how some thrift stores have a few Christmas things throughout the year. I've found a few big-ticket, showstopping pieces of Holiday decor FAR out of season. Very lucky finds, which likely wouldn't have made it to the sales floor had it been closer to the Holidays. Just my experience. :)
That Australian carving represents a bird and it’s made from bean tree wood which is quite a light weight wood. If it’s a little wobbly then is a good thing because it makes it lively. The carvings rarely sit square. That aboriginal carved bowl is a coolamon and was also carved from the bean tree and you can look that word up on google. The bean tree also delivers beautiful hard seeds in hues from yellow through reds to browns. Forty years ago the aboriginal artisans would make necklaces and mats with the beans. It would take two white hot fencing wires from the camp fire to drive a hole through each seed to create a bead. Today a drill is usually used but the old way with the burnt intererior left a wonderful campfire smell and reduced the chance of mites taking up residence inside the bead. $275 is a good price and indicates what a bargain your carving is. We lived in central Australia for 40 years and were privileged to be quite close to these wonderful people. Ps $35 is a bargain.
Laura! Thanks to you and all the knowledge you share, I scored my first Bitossi in the wild this week, for pennies!!! I randomly bought a lot of vases for $2 in an auction based upon something that looked promising, peeking out in the background, and when I picked it up, there it was! You also helped me realize the planter that I have loved all my life that my mom finally gave over to me was a Bitossi too, and even though I love it and never plan to give it up, I never would have known what it was without you! Thank you for all the knowledge you share with us! It is priceless, and you are a breath of fresh air every time I watch one of your videos. ❤
It’s so sweet how Jesse is Laura’s biggest cheerleader. They are so stinking cute together.
Does anyone else play the "which one is Laura gonna pick up" game? 😊 My eyes went right to those awesome brass earrings too! Love them!
I never get it right!😂
Yep!
Yes! I actually spied those fish earrings too!
I always do that. Lol
I think you have inspired me to start a thrifting reselling business. I am disabled and get at least a migraine a week, which shows up on my MRI’s, along with numerous autoimmune conditions. POTS causes fainting and fell and broke my lower leg last year. I need something off the books, to continue my SSD case. Something I can do on good days, that also lets me be my own boss! Thanks for all the detailed inspo! Live for you and Jesse together! Ya’ll are so chill & funny. 😄 Hope you are having a wonderful move into fall.
Laura I just love your channel! You produce such amazing content! 😊
The shark that that was next to the big black vase at cheap frills was so cute! I was hoping you would jus pick it up so I can see it more haha
Classic intro! Brings me back almost two years ago when I binged your videos and was inspired to begin planning my reselling business. Thank you, Laura. It's going fantastic!
That is so wonderful! Congratulations!! 🥳❤️
YES Wonderful!
I remember this episode and it’s a good one.
I’ve moved down South since then,
and am preparing to have a yard sale soon 😊
Omg….the outtakes at the end…..GOLD!! ❤😂
Those turquoise salt and pepper shakers, though! 😍😍 I would not have left those.
I put my cat's dry food in my cookie jar from 1930! You're rocking those gold earrings, Laura. Another great episode with Laura and Jesse.
You’re filming is just the best. Your videos are a joy to watch!
I especially loved this episode! Makes me miss the Oregon coast and I just visited in July! Wheeler Station was fantastic! I got myrtlewood bookends there and found a Kosta Boda at Little Antique Mall in Lincoln City for $8.00! It was the best trip ever! Thank you Laura and Jesse too for a great episode!
Laura I know you hear this all the time but I feel like we are best friends. You are so kind and so inspiring. I have deleted everyone but you. It's more than just making a profit for you and I really appreciate how you show us how to stage your items. Thanks so much.
Beautiful scenery in Oregon
That was a Reuge music box! they are quite expensive!
That handwoven turquoise rug....I think it's Zapotecan, from the Oaxaca area. Beautiful colors and a bold, design. The weavers of the Teotitlan del Valle area often weave for a contemporary market and they pull from other cultures. This rug seems inspired by patterns found on Navajo Chief blankets and the animal reminds me of Zuni fetishes. It is not a Navajo rug, though, because it has fringe at two ends....the fringe informs us that it was woven on a floor loom. Navajo rugs do not have fringe. They are woven on an upright frame loom and every bit of the warp stays within the weaving itself.
Wow, you have a lot of knowledge about the types of rugs. Do you mind me asking how you gained all this knowledge?
Ooh, so excited to hear where those Aboriginal pieces came from. I have an anteater and did not know it was Australian. Learnt something from you today, Laura. Thank you? Amazing video, as always 🤩✌️🇬🇧
Yes come down to the southern coast. There is a new Antique Mall in Coquille The Purple Branch. I’m a vendor and I’m having the time of my life sourcing items to sell on top
Of making Art. Stop at Aloros wine bar and Restaurant in Bandon for dinner they have the best food. If you make it to Coquille have pizza at Denny’s Pizza Parlor. Hope to see you. My hubby and I work the Antique Mall Saturdays. P.S I loved your Goodwill series.
You two are so easy to watch. You're always upbeat and provide so much information! I love shopping with you!❤❤❤
Cracks me up every time you play the penguin ice bucket music! As soon as it starts I’m looking to see where it’s hiding 🤣🤣🤣
I saw two today thrifting in Colorado! 🐧🐧🐧
I love when she spots them too, it’s been awhile, so she was due! 🐧🇨🇦🐧
Was thrifting today at goodwill in Phoenix and found the James Mont Foo Dog ice bucket. If not for faithfully watching all your informative and wonderful videos I would have passed it by. Thank you Laura for all your hard work, absolutely love your channel!! Sign me addicted in Phoenix
Niceee🎉🎉Another video, you have inspired me to become a vintage reseller, I love selling at the Elephant Trunk Flea market, everyone loves my little store/table...and it's all because of you!! Thanks for all the good videos and the good advice, love from New York ❤️ 💕
The wooden rocking chair at 35:28 looks like an Adirondack Chair (as in Adirondack Mountains in New York State). They are usually more rough and rustic, and frequently painted, but I haven't often seen a rocking one. I do like this one!
That glass art deco shade is all original, I have 3 of them
I assume you follow Drew with Lone Fox? His Spanish Revival home is epic! I loved seeing the Newport footage. My father used to have his dory fishing boat docked there while I was growing up. I spent many weekends in Newport & it’s still one of my favorite places! 😊
I love watching Drew, he's so talented and adorable.
@@debbiekennedy6030I agree! He’s soooo talented! 😊
The primitive pottery vase is interesting. Try South Africa - maybe Rorke's Drift pottery. Or possibly Papua New Guinea - but more likely South Africa. Good luck. Elaine from New Zealand.
I'm an elementary school teacher and kids still use those scooters in the gym. They love them! Finger squishing and all. 😊
So funny. I am a 60’s Oregonian and was telling my husband about these yesterday! Spent most recess inside and used these ….ours were wood!
At 22.06 I would have bought the wood shelf at Habitat. Great price at $10.00. I have several shelves throughout my home & love to display treasures & memories on them. You & Jesse are so fun to watch.
Lol the scooters! We had those when I was in school after 1908’s! Prolly in like the early 2000’s? Def a finger destroyer 😂😂😂👏
Love the wood flowers, brass bowl with enamel inserts, flyers frog and especially ALL your turquoise jewelry!!!!❤❤ I so much like your shopping, trips and information. I have some of the small antique items that you show. My father-in-law( deceased since 1998) used to make lamps, end tables, TV stands, old hurricane lantern holders--that you could hang on walls, bubble gum jars(pint or quart jars/with canning lids & pull out wooden slots to get gum. That's just a few items that I can think of---so many more!
Please keep us in your travels, pictures and life! Maybe one day I will be able (money-wise& physically able to join y'all!❤😊
Laura!! I was near the outback in Australia and found a Penguin ice bucket 😂😂 I almost fell over. The old gent who owns the shop wouldn’t allow me to take a picture but when I go by there again in a few weeks, if it’s there, I’ll try to sneak a pic for you because they’re obviously doing the march of the penguin ice buckets 🐧
😄
I LOVED the bloopers at the end! I was LITERALLY LOL-ing!! 😂 But what I love the most is yours and Jesse's relationship and how it all beautifully intertwines with your love for vintage and thrifting. It is trully beautiful to know that kind of love DOES exist. You guys are amazing! ❤❤❤ Thank u for the trip along the coast! SO much fun!!!! 😊
I just love you guys. You two make me smile.
Jesse those little seats with the wheels..... We had them in the 60's but made of wood. Going forward was hard but going backwards you could fly! 😂
I would have gotten the hanging light and put candles in it.
I would have used it as a planter!
Great haul. Always good to see Jesse, makes the trip fun.
I think the pottery vase depicts the African folk tale, Anansi the Spider.
I love the Oregon coast and it’s more than a treat to me when you make videos there. My favorite is the central coast, so it’s great to see so much of Newport.
I have Myrtle wood radar, too. Years ago I was on the southern coast and we accidentally stumbled in to a family operated Myrtle wood business. Very craftsman and folk art place. I bought a slab of wood from them, unfinished with live bark edges. I kept it for years trying to decide what to do with it until finally decided to make it into a bedside table. So my daughter finished it, put hairpin legs on it and it turned out beautifully. Even more special because my daughter did it for me. It’s one of my most treasured things. Your table that you found reminds me of that.
That brass enamel bowl that’s it for me 🎉
That was fun. Lovely to see some Aboriginal works. I live in Australia and love your videos.
The scenery is simply amazing. ❤❤❤
The angry ship men are Toby Jugs, very English things, and come in a wide range of styles. Another great episode though and makes me wanna go to Portland/Oregon.
Loved that you switched out earrings! They're gorgeous 😍
So fun watching the two of you having a great time! I have to say I just love your index finger ring, but I am distracted by it the whole way through the video, lol! I will be looking forward to the next video---like always. 🙂
I realize that I’ve watched your channel for 5 years or so . I was thrifting in Arlington, Tx., and found the penguin ice bucket!! Never seen one before, and now when I see it on my buffet , I think of you! It’s amazing how you’ve influenced my thrifting- no brown pots tho!
So happy you finally saw one in Texas! 🐧 and thank you sooooo much for the support for so long 🥹
Every time I go to an antique mall I look for the penguin ice bucket. I wish I could share a picture of them.
I was out thrifting with my sister today. We were at an antique mall and I found a candle holder with the original Royal Haeger sticker still on it 🤩. It was marked $8…I got it for 20% off
Yay a fun video. Great finds. Love when you two are together. 😊😊
Such a bummer you didn't get the lamp from that estate sale after you paid for it!
Love the Italian inlay jewelry box!
Darth Jesse! 😂
What a nice Friday video surprise! Love your coast trip and all your cool finds!! ❤
The whole wood top, scroll-y base, hairpin legs, seven year switch out convo was hilarious! 😂❤
My son had exercise-sport classes with those same scooters in 1994 in Chicago suburbs. The kids batted around a ball.
I used to drive up and down the coast when I lived in Salem. Went to Newport many times in the late 80’s. So much fun and beautiful.
I thought the little brown jug at 2:05 said $6.50 not 65.00 AND it was 20% off.
Thought the same
The earrings look fabulous on you! I would have gotten that cool light fixture. You could have put an air plant in it or a battery-operated light, or if in little Italy hanging up, it would have looked great. Oh well!
Little Italy is an outdoor space so nowhere to hang the light but an airplant would look amazing 🙂
Now YOU look like an angel! You’re blowin’ out like an angel!
Well…*shrug* that’s not the first time I’ve heard that! 😂😅
You guys are too much! 😋
I love finding small local thrift stores. Usually good prices and hidden gems. I love the old man brass candle holder.
I would use the wooden detergent holder for a planter.
Spanish revival candle holders is probably door hinges
Speaking of Jesse's guy, I believe he challenged you to stage it. Come on Laura I really want to see that!
Funny story about Cheap Frills, we were just there this last weekend, and walking around inside with my hubby he came across a vintage 80s skateboard. He himmed and hawed about getting it and then decided to set it back down. Well a few minutes later the lights got turned out on us, it was closing time and the entire building went dark inside. I made my way to the front door and then realized my hubby wasn't behind me. So i waited outside for a few minutes and thought he had gotten lost in the dark, then I see him emerge at the cash register with that skateboard in hand! My hubby is 52 and I love that he found something that made him so happy that he braved a maze in the dark and possibly some irritated employees to go get it. 🤣
Love that!
Loved the brass/enamel bowl. It reminds me of William Morris. The tall tribal looking vase is awesome. I hope you’re able to find out its origin. Great haul!
"The cycle of vintage." Love it! 😊
I found that James Mont ice pitcher at a thrift store in Florida for $6.00. Flipped it for $65.00 on Facebook marketplace, thanks to you❣️❣️❣️
Amazing!! 👏
I found some pewter wedding spoons at a flea market in Germany in the 70s. 😅
The “Cheap Frills” store is the small clothing section in the back portion of the building. It used to be its own consignment store on Hurbert Street several years ago.
The actual name of this antique mall is Nostalgia Estates Sales.
My favorite place for fresh seafood also is Local Ocean! Lol. They sure have come up in price though! Wow!
I haven’t been to Rustic Ridge yet. Wish I would’ve run into you to say Hi! 😢Happy hunting a little late!! lol have a great day!!
The aboriginal pokerwork designs bowl looks like it could be a coolamon. A coolamon was used to carry babies and bush tucker.
Excellent episode love watching you two shop and all treasures you find
Re beige and brown vase: I'd check African pottery. And as always, thanks for a great tour through Oregon's thrift and antique and vintage stores. ❤
I agree! The creature below the face makes me think of Anansi the spider. He’s a West African mythological character.
I smiled when Jesse said, "they even spelled my name right", because I'm a Jesse too and all my life people have added the "I" which is the female's spelling - I even have relatives that forget!
My favorite timeshare is in Depoe Bay and that is between Newport and Lincoln City. There is a great restaurant there called Tidal Raves Seafood Grill
Catholic school in the 80s we had those scooters too. Used for indoor PE on rain days to play "scooter soccer". Definitely crunched some fingers 😁
My mom has one of those "wedding" chairs. It's been in her house since the seventies.
This is why I love your channel so much. You do the research and you know what you are talking about. Some other thrifters say things like "I think this is old..." and they don't seem to know the designers/artists.
That brass bowl with the enamel is awesome! Love the jewelry - especially the heart & bear. The amber rose is amazing!
Fun video!!
On your next trip to the coast I would like to invite you and your viewers to the small town of Waldport just south of Newport we have several vintage shops right on Hwy 101 including Lil Joe's General Store and it is full of treasures!
That box that ended up being $60 is from The Taj Mahal in India. My husband went there and brought home coasters exactly the same …. Beautiful
Yayyyy!! I wasn’t expecting an episode! I thought it would take a little for the other ones… I literally just scrolled trying to watch other RUclipsrs and they couldn’t keep my attention for more than 2 mins. Nobody compares to Laura’s videos!! Love 😍 🙌🫶😍
Nobody compares 💯
@@tinamarie6871she is fun to watch! ❤️
@@GrandmaKW yes .. I've been watching Laura's videos for about 2 months and I have never thrifted in my life. ....needless to say, I thrift now! And having fun doing it....
I 2nd that awesome!!!!!!
I agree!!!!
Yay new video!!!!
Fun trip!! Send them my way, I have two James Mont style ice buckets, ones listed and one is in my store. I do love the picture.
That was fun. You guys call those dude head mugs angry fish men!🤣I call call them Rod Stewart mugs. Tell me that every one of them doesn’t resemble Rod Stewart at any given moment?! Great finds as usual. Great eyes for style! Great dopamine rush when you find a collectible you want but don’t have at a gray price noless!Oh yeah!👍🥰
😂😂😂
LAURA you are the best! I love to see you on YOU TUBE! I learn from you good things , you are an inspiration ! Thank you, because you exist in my life!
The rocking chair is made by Amish ! I'm from Ohio & I have one just like it !
I lived as a child in Newport. There was a old hippy thift store up on the hill we used to spend so much time there is was magical there.
I'm in my 60s now and still miss the foggy days there.
Lol. Vintage! Vintage Market! My bestie and I pulled up on a Vintage Market at someone's home. Walked up the driveway .... and it was a family reunion.
🤣 I love it! I’d totally do that by accident too!
I believe the name of the indigenous group from Oaxaca Mex is Zapotec. (Zapotecas in Spanish).
I am not an expert but coming from the south east of Mexico I don't think the "tapete" tapestry is from that area. Looks more Native American to me. I think anyway its beautiful and worth it to do some research!
Did anyone else saw Jesse's saucy joke at minute 28:23? Hahaha! Love the series and love it when you're out and about together. Greetings from Buenos Aires, Argentina.
the stain glass lampshade makes beautiful christmas tree collar !
What a fun thrifting video ! So many great finds !
The little carts omg! I went to elementary school is the 2000s and loved them 🤣🤣
Wow!!! So many amazing items!!
Are you guys from Oregon? Didn’t realize Oregon was a thrifters Paradise!! ❤👏👏
Those retractable ceiling lights were quite the novelty in homes back in the day. I remember them being in dining rooms and kitchens.
My grandparents had one in their dining room we used to play with it all the time.
I use my cookie jar for my Keurig pods. It has a seal on the lid so the pods stay fresh.
Great idea!!
Just found this channel, love it so much! So upbeat and informative for a reseller that isn't very knowledgeable outside my particular focus❤
