If no one bought new, and all furniture manufacturers were to go out of business, the only choice would be to buy used. So the same used furniture could just be donated over and over again, right? A 20 year old sofa that has been recycled through 10 families sounds great, huh?
Seems like to me that there should be a continuous cycle of new furniture that will be resold or donated at some point.
Another thought, just think of how many jobs would be lost if all manufacturers and furniture stores closed.

Pro tip; when inserting foam cushions into fabric covers, put the foam cushion in a plastic bag with the opened end facing away from you as you slide it into the fabric cover. It will slide in so easily. Then pull the plastic bag out. Once you have adjusted the fabric into the correct position and zipped it up, steam the entire cushion with your iron. Steam will puff up the foam a bit, filling out the cover and setting the seams to lay flat.

    • @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley
      @BewareTheLilyOfTheValley 24 дня назад +6

Could steam help a couch cushion that's gone a little flat due to being sat on a lot? I have a favorite spot on my couch but my weight has definitely flattened the spot a bit, lol. The cushions you sit on though aren't removeable. I love everything about my couch except for that. It's not a horrible flat spot, but it'd still be nice to find a DIY way to revive it a bit, other than disconnecting the chaise lounge portion where I like to sit and having the whole thing reupholstered. Not sure if that even could be done with such a couch.

You show us YOUR ideas and projects and how YOU decorate your home in an informative and humble way, without saying that is the only way to decorate! You also give us such great thrifting and recycle projects to consider as well that makes a home personal and unique. You don’t always spend a small fortune and are very honest as to cost. You need to show the lamps either working or (& you may have done this) disclose if they need rewiring. MANY people are terrified of dealing with anything electrical & all they consider is the cost of hiring someone to replace them. As inexpensive as wiring kits are now, it may even be worth your time to take the listing down, replace the kits in both & repost them with a header of "Newly Reworked" at your original $200. Bravo on the other pieces! I expected you to use "Retique It" on the corner hutch but the wax turned out beautifully. Thank you for the inspo, have a wonderful, safe & blessed week ahead 💜🙏🏻

Obsessed with that chest you looked at! I have one that looks almost exactly like it inside & out except mine is a dark red. I keep all my bed linens stored in it.. but i want a darker or in like a brown or even black to use as a coffee table. I find mostly rounded top chest & of course need the flat top. We used to own A thrift store for about 5yrs when we lived in Tennessee. We had A piece that looked just like the red corner cabinet donated but it was actually a heavy wood piece & very scratched up. My daughter used to do some furniture flips & made that piece over. She just did it in A creamy neutral color, it turned out really pretty. Love the fabric you chose for the chair! I love anything old & made of wood.. large or small pieces. I love the little desk😊 I bought a little table about that size with a drawer, it was old & very sturdy. I had a small 3 drawer cabinet about half the size of the top, in the same color wood. It sat on top of it perfect & so i made a little desk out of it, styled it with some old desk pieces & it turned out really nice! I may eventually strip & restain it, but I'm kind of liking the old worn look of it. Oh i definitely love the chair cushions.. so pretty!❤ I'm not surprised those items sold so quickly! If I lived closer i would have been after the desk & possibly the corner cabinet! Great job on each piece!😊

Hi Drew: just watched episode where you stitched your first cushions. Congratulations!
May I suggest 2 steps for your next project:
    1) make the zipper long enough to go around each corner ( 2 inches or so)
    2) wrap each cushion in a layer of quilt batting. Makes a big difference when chair is sat on. Without batting, fabric will not spring back immediately & leaves wrinkles. Also aids in inserting and removing the foam.
    Best wishes! S

OMG I soo hope shells trend! I have a few pieces myself, and I volunteer at a Art Reuse thrift store (It's decor and vintage stuff, but also paint and canvas, fabric, notitions, hardware, lights, school and office supplies, fine art supplies (the pro quality paints, pens, markers, pencils, etc), yarn and crochet/knit supplies, jewlery and beading, and more. Almost everything costs between 25 cents and 10 dollars (about 30% of the retail value)). We have a section called "natures treasures" and the rocks and crystals always sell out before more get donated, but we literally cannot get rid of the shells. There are so many that get donated, and no one ever buys them, so they just pile up. Hopefully if they trend we can make space for more rocks!

❤DEFINITELY do more of this type of content!!! These are my favorites and you are so good at redoing these pieces. Plus, it's fun to see how much you are able to make on each item in your market area.

Shades are easy to clean in the shower. Spray with a gentle cleaner, let sit for a few minutes and spray with cool water. If it's a well made shade it works great. If it's a cheap glued shade the glue may soften and you may need to re glue.

I agree totally with another commenter that said next to your room makeover videos, these are her favorites! You have such a clever eye to what can be done to make something more appealing, and Justin has great input, too. The corner cabinet transformation really blew me away!! I would never have looked at that piece in a thrift store and imagined it could look like you made it look! I think the fabric you used was gorgeous and turned out so stunning, but the fabric you saw first and said you need to use in a project in the future would have truly been amazing, too, with a very different vibe. Please, please, please continue these thrift flip videos!!!

Try using a product called “fabric tac” for glueing trim or fabric together. Sticks together quickly & and no mess or strings of glue

When you cover cushions, like the chair, you wrap the foam cushion in batting before inserting into the cushion cover. Give it a try.

    Great job Drew!
Can't believe that chair sold for so much!
I used to have that entire (matching) set of furniture (sofa, loveseat, 2 chairs, coffee table, 2 end tables).
Since it had a "rustic" vibe, we put it in our vacation rental cabin.

Another thing I like is watching you take on a makeover of a person’s home. Maybe not the whole house but one or two rooms. I am here in Burbank and my 1941 home has many design challenges.
(Having said that, I would volunteer mine… Lol!)

I've just started reselling vintage on Marketplace and am averaging profits per week of the same as I would earn in a day at work. I'm mostly selling smalls because small beautifully designed/made things own my heart, and I am way too disabled to be hauling furniture. But the thing that I'm absolutely loving is picking a few gems from the sea of stuff in the thrift store, researching what I've got, taking some pretty pictures, then writing a listing with keywords that allow collectors/lovers of that particular thing to be able to find it. I know how excited I get when I find the perfect vintage thing and I love being able to bring that excitement to others.
