Thanks so much for watching and I hope you enjoyed. Leave any future video ideas you would like to see in the comments below and don't forget to subscribe!
OMYGOSH that lamp it’s everything!!!!!! 😍 all the flips were so good!!! LOVE 😍
Love your videos xoxo 🥰
Love you ❤️
Totally agree!!!! The lamp was my favorite flip!!!
Macenna captured by a light.... Ahahahah i could bet it. Love your pendant lights girl!
SARA NENA DIY
Totally agree! I would have never thought of it. And it is amazing.
LOVED them all but the wooden bowl/pendant light was super special 👌🏽
Love all of them and to only pay $7.... what a steal! That is real wood!
TY!!!
I'm pretty sure that is a teak bowl so it was actually a really good price!
My fave!!!!!!
Right?! OH MY GOD.
That lamp came out perfect. Cannot even imagine paying $300 for a lamp when you can make it perfectly for under $20.
Thanks for this, Drew! Will try it out. I have an old green ikea lamp that needs a makeover
that wooden bowl lamp is giving me restoration hardware vibes! obsessed!
I think the chair could have used new foam, the old foam is almost disintegrating and won't be as cushy as when it was new. Once you have it all opened up that's the perfect time to swap in new high density foam for a more comfortable seat.
And use the existing fabric as a pattern for your new piece! :-)
It's prob just a for effect chair, not a piece that will be sat on often.
Agree!
I can't believe he painted over the vintage and original frame with that one-dimensional paint, I think it kind of hid it's original charm and story
I actually yelled NOOOOOOO while watching....omg, he killed it. LOL. But I feel crappy saying that because I LOVE everything he does. Minus this frame. 😢🤣🤣
I also think it is too one-dimensional but if he added a little antiquing it would really make the carved details come to life. (watered down black or brown paint, just in the nooks and crannies, and wiped off the highest spots)
@@ceer9141 i totally agree! and we're not here to hate but to express our enthusiasm
@@lestranged my thought exactly!!
Agree. it was semi painful seeing all that character and history being sprayed over. I absolutely looved every other item thou.
WOW, WOW, WOW! The pendant lamp is the best! You drilled a hole and it is masterpiece. And, just when I thought is was safe to continue watching the video, you blow my mind again with the table lamp. I could not tell the difference between the $278 and your $17 version. The chair, the frame , everything is inspired and incredibly simple. Awesome job, Drew! Thank you for sharing your talent with us,
The black table lamp - like - damn! What a comeback story 😂
These have to be some of the best projects you’ve ever done. Can’t decide which of these I liked best. May be the chair? Or the frame?
These projects were some of my favorites as well! So glad you enjoyed :)
Lone Fox hey I have a request for you but I don’t know where I can send you that request if you can let me know please
I feel like thrift stores in Arizona and Florida, especially those near retirement communities, have great stuff. Because so many older people retire to those states and they have beautiful vintage things they bring with them, and then when they pass away the families have to clean out all their stuff and end up donating a lot of it. It's often in very good condition, it's only had one previous owner and they took care of their stuff. It is nice to think of these items having a new life and being appreciated by a new generation. A 90 year old person today was 20 years old in 1950 so they often own great mid century modern items.
I love mid-century modern and boho and I always Thrift for those things.
I like to get vintage things but lately I am thinking that I when I die my children will have to dispose of a lot of sh...t...that’s so sad...😞😢💔💔💔
@@claudiasalgado4007 Do some 'swedish death cleaning' when you get old. This is a common thing apparently where older people go through all their stuff and downsize, give it away to family members who might want it or to charity, and throw a lot out. They do it while they are still alive to reduce the chores for their kids.
Exactly. The antique stores in northern CA are fantastic....rival those in New England!
America has the best Op Shop finds.
As soon as I saw the wooded bowl, I thought.... PENDANT LIGHT! I hope he makes a PENDANT LIGHT! You are amazing! LOVE THEM ALL!
Bought a navy pair of ginger jar lamps for our nightstands when I got married in the early 80’s, DIY’d them in the late 90’s with new shades, ModPodge and torn paper grocery bags. Now I’m gonna DIY them again with this look(minus the mud). Man, have I gotten my money’s worth out of those lamps!😊🤣 Thanks Drew!💜
Baby that lamp was EVERYTHING, I'm definitely going to the thrift store tomorrow
I cannot figure out why anyone would down vote this, everything is very clever. None the less you should consider putting together a book of all your projects. You could take the pictures from your videos.
PS: I would have cut new foam and batting for the seat cushion. The old foam looked like it was disintegrating.
I loove this idea !! even the projects that aren't 'on trend' anymore it'd be so lovely to flick through
Totally agree. That was the first thing I thought of.
Bravo on all of your projects! Have you thought about rub n buffing the inside of your new pendant so more light will bounce off? Again, such great original content. So glad I found your channel!
I think they shouldn’t even have the thumbs down button. The likes make the heiarchy I thought. If not interested or liking they can move on!
@@lyricwritertoo Great idea with the button. But strangely enough even thumbs downs are counting as interaction and help ranking.
The chair was made of Hickory.
The black specs are prized in the figuring of the wood.
Drew ..."jy is te pragtig". (adorable). I am 73 yrs old and live in South Africa. You are so natural in front of the camera and I always wait for the next quirky thing you going to do. You make me smile with those big eyes that is never still. Your ideas are remarkable.
"We aint got time for the antique store, or the money, so.." So relatable 😂
When you said “Wait mother I need that bowl” 😂 So relatable haha
my heart shattered when he painted over that beautiful emerald lamp.... it was such a beautiful color.
why do I have no idea what your referring to
Can I just say that I have gone down many, many rabbit holes watching diy projects, decorating, or even just perusing Pinterest and Houzz and by far I have gathered the MOST inspiration, tricks and tips and from you. So I am so, so glad I stumbled upon you...so thank you!!
I remember furniture having that type of finish in the 70’s and I believe it was called pecan. Loved the table lamp!
I GASPED at the wooden bowl turned lamp shade! So simple but looks like you’ve spent a small fortune! Looooove
Yes! Thank you!
These were all awesome but that frame with that painting made my jaw drop!
Absolutely ADORE the light fixture you made from the wooden bowl. The large frame...gasp❤
The lamp transformation...of course you could do it..YOURE DREW!😆 AMAZING!!! THAT CHAIR!! You upgraded that chair into a DREAM! STUNNING!! I so appreciate you sharing everything. Stay safe Drew❤😘cat xxx
Thanks Cat :))
@@lonefox You are very welcome Drew!!
Re the chair. early 70's and the finish was called 'pecan' including the velvet seat!!! great job on the chair.
Lol...Pecky pecan...
This collection was stunning. Every piece was just perfect and didn't look thrifted or homemade. You are just amazing, Drew!
The chair is just beautiful. I am in awe of your talent. You are blessed and thank you for always cheering me up..love and light from Ireland x
OMG, Drew. you did it again. ST UN NING DIYs. You never fail to make my jaw drop!!!!!
upholstering tip: when you upholster fold the edge of the fabric under to make a hem and then staple over to create a clean finish ^^
Or get the black finishing Fabric and put that on the bottom of the seat. That's what I do and makes it finished off professionally. If you look at any chair you'll see that fabric on there, sometimes I even steal it from another chair to finish my project.
Yeah, the black gauze like material is referred to as a dust cloth and is stapled very neatly to cover the cut edges of the fabric. It prevents the underside of the chair from dust hence the name. I also suggest that even if you don’t change the foam, your foam should be covered by a thin batting cloth such as a quilt batting.
Folding under the edge is not only neater it makes the stapled edge stronger and less likely to pull out
When he said he had never done upholstery before I thought, why didn’t you just watch a RUclips video?💁♀️😁
The final chair looks amazing - the black was absolutely the right choice. But I gotta say the original colour of that table lamp was stunning. What a gem to find!
...those ginger jar lamps were very popular in the sixties/seventies, and now making a comeback. Very clever how he brought it to a current trend to look like actual old pottery. I probably would of done it “white” with black lampshade...to match my decor. Even, rope wrapped up at the base and a terracotta color...there’s so much you can refurbish when you have a lamp with a good classic shape. Plus, trimming a lampshade w/fringe or rope, and/or painting it.👍🥰❤️
I used to live in AZ and I loved the thrift stores! I miss them. I loved all your flips...especially the lamp and the chair! Nice job!
I am SO IMPRESSED with that lamp! It turned out amazing! 🤩
OMG, you’re the KING of DIY thrift flips! I loved them all! 🤩🤩🤩 That chair... umfff... 😍🥰
I think the RUclips video that used mud was Becky's from The Sorry Girls :)
Anne A: I was thinking it was Brandy Jackson but when you mentioned Becky I think she did it too. I would have never thought of putting mud on, right? ❤💚💜💙💛
Ive always thrifted. We grew up poor. Ive remade thrift clothing since I sewed as a child but your videos and a few other young designers are helping me to have a new eye in this “upcycle” decor trend. Things I have passed by hundreds of times! I also love the wood pendant lamp but really impressed how you changed the table lamp to look like clay! Also the black on that chair makes it much more elegant because of the shape of the back. I wish I could find an odd chair like that for $4.
oh man--are you tired of me saying this yet?? you are amazing and a genius and just WOW!! can *not* believe how BEAUTIFUL everything you did on this video (and, let's face it, on all of your other videos!) came out!! You have a fantastic eye for beauty and for the 'possibilities' of things. thank you so, so much for sharing!!!
I need your creativity, I would have never thought to make that out of a cute hanging lamp, looks so modern.
I am consistently impressed by your flips and diy.
That chair looks like pecan wood. Everything looks soooooo good.
Seriously Drew you are so freaking talented!! I don’t know how you don’t have millions of subscribers. Your content is the best on RUclips 😍😍
That lamp is EVERYTHING. It’s such a good replica & looks so expensive!
I have a vintage eclectic ascetic and for most things I agree that thrifting for decor (and DIY projects) is better than antique shops. But, outside of major cities, antique stores can be pretty affordable. Also, one of my major sources are flea markets. There’s a large year-round one near me and I find TONS of great finds for cheap.
It's true, antique stores can be cheaper than brand new Ikea-quality stuff and you get much better quality and solid wood instead of pressboard and cardboard.
I LOVE the chair black so beautiful, so Victorian!!!! BRAVO!!!!!
The creativity. The resourcefulness. The style. I die. 😍
You’re so cute! You always make me smile. I LOVE these DIYs. Especially that lamp. I have one like it that I plan on doing this with. I’m so excited. It’s literally been sitting here waiting for me to find the perfect idea to transform it. THIS is it💕 Much love 💕
I was so impressed by all of these projects. The chair looks so expensive!!
That LIGHT PENDENT WAS GENIUS!!!
Adding handles and texture to up grade the lamp was brilliant ,,, and make the wooden bowel into a lamp !!!! LOVE YOU !!
I'm absolutely in love with everything you did. It is almost impossible to pick a favorite. I love your videos and I "copy" your ideas every time I can!! You're so awesomely talented!
I Love the lamp , the chair everything you do.
I am so happy I found your channel. 👍
You are extremely talented !
I’m CRAZY !!!!❤️❤️❤️❤️👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽 the LAMP! You made it DIFFICULT 🤦🏽♀️ to decide That LAMP IS AWESOME!
My fav was the dining room light, no, the lamp, um....the chair. I love them all
I'm new here and I am loving everything ❤️❤️❤️
You are amazing!
I’ve been looking for a frame like that for my bathroom, I want to put a mirror in it with a antique dresser I transformed to a vanity. Very well done on all your projects!
Got your video's streaming on my TV and I can't even believe your content is FREE 😍🥰😀 Everything you make is breath-taking.
Absolutely loved everything. So beautiful
Loved all the projects. Think the chair was my favorite. I admit I was holding my breath when you started painting it black, but it looked so good, perhaps that is the way it should have always looked. Blessings from Wisconsin
I've done some frames, and I love the light fixture, the lamp DIY was really innovative, but I so want to do that chair. Time to go to the op shop!
Table lamp was good as it is. The glass color and smoothness was beautiful.Other projects are good.
That salad bowl - turned into a beautiful warm light fixture - you are so talented & you saved so much money. Great job & thanks for sharing.
“I love how everything turned out, even though I don’t know yet” lmaooo I love it all!! Great job as per usual.
Thank you!! 😊
“We don’t have the time or the money for a antique store” amen to that sister!
You are soooo right, thrifting is so fun!!
So in love with that pendant light, will be looking for bowls from now on! Thank you for the inspiration!
I too love getting wooden items especially bowls of all kinds at the thrift store. To make them look even more gorgeous I give them a good wiping with mineral spirits. A bottle from Ikea will last a long long time. Huge difference in the items, brings the beauty of the wood out.
Is the ikea one mineral spirits or is it wood oil? Or are they both the same thing?😂
@@hadiy101 Raw linseed oil can be used on anything wood and is food safe. Mineral spirits is not
@@hadiy101 You can use mineral oil to protect wood. It's kind of the same concept as danish oil. It's just oil protectant. People treat cutting blocks with food grade mineral oil to keep them nice.
A vegetable oil (canola), olive oil, baby oil; all will make that wooden bowl look even more beautiful!
@@katherinewill2704 You do not want to use most food oils as they go rancid without some other agent added to cut it. You'll want oils that don't deteriorate like mineral oil, danish oil, or jojoba oil
Everyone: Let's go for a weekend trip! We'll try the local restaurants and take some photos.
Drew and The Sorry Girls: Let's go for a weekend trip! We'll try the local thrift stores and buy some furniture :D
The bowl...absolutely fabulous!
Such a great vision executed with that lamp. Awesome.
Stahp!! These projects are honestly some of the most beautiful and inspired you’ve ever done. That lamp is EVERYTHING! As always, well done, Drew!!
Video request: Tell us-What are some of your essential DIY tools? Where do you buy them?
I want to know where you got your staple gun lol.
looks like DeWalt staple gun. Most hardware stores carry it.
Okay can we all vote up this comment so Drew actually does it 😂
Love, love, love the lamp and pendant light!!!! ❤️❤️❤️
It's always so exciting and you're always very excited OMG OMG
I wish we had such good flea markets/thrift stores like this in Germany 🇩🇪
Where in Germany do you live? From the Netherlands myself close to the German border. Almost never see German people in the local trift store but you can find them in almost every other store.
TheFullStar the other side actually, Saxony ♥️
I would also like there to be in France 🇫🇷
@@misslyntheena Dear Lyntheena, try to go to Czechia and look for "bazar".
paniHelena thank you, that sounds promising - once it’s safe again I will definitely go ♥️
I used to live in Scottsdale and THAT is where I fell in love with thrifting and thrift stores in general because they really are so well kept!!! I’m not sure where they moved in AZ, but I definitely recommend making the trip to Scottsdale when you are there next!
Fia, I'm in Scottsdale right now visiting my Mom and I loooove the one off Hayden. It's clean and they have unique stuff.
Nikki K yay!!! That’s a great one! I loved the one off of Greenway and Tatum, it’s pretty big and SO well organized! After I found a West Elm lamp never used in a box for $12, my thrifting obsession began!
@@FiaGarciaDIY
Guess where I'm going tonight!! I'm trying to check out White Dove on McDonald but they close at 5. I'll have to try Saturday. Thanks for the tip!
Love the black chair, so simple so beautiful.
Gorgeous projects. I love all of them.
Awesome...all are my favourite 😍😍 bit the chair is AWESOME ...but the lamp took my heart.
With Love from SAM
Guwahati Assam INDIA
These were SO GOOD! Genuinely can't choose a favourite. My heart died a little with jealousy over the lamp. Can't believe you took out that cute monkey print though, he was so cute!
The light looks sooooo good
The pendant light was just AMMAAAAZING!!!! So was the table lamp.... loved everything ❤ ♥ 😍😍
The Rub-n-Buff tarnishes over time and loses some of its original luster. A clear coat spray varnish might prevent you from having to redo it.
But you really want that to happen, to achieve the patina of age/antiquing without adding additional layers of paint/stain finish to the frame.
liking before i even watch because all your videos are great :)
Me too!
you kill it every time! the chair is GORGEOUS. my favorite for sure.
Love this segment. MORE PLEASE!!
It has black spatter or probably a fake patina because it is originally a “chinoiserie” style replicated a lot in 1960-1970s
that chair had personality, i would not have done that if I were you, maybe upholster with a bright fabric?
That pendant light from the bow was gorgeous!
Love love love the mud technique. Chair looks great, light and frame!!
Ummmm excuse me this is your best thrift flip video yet!!!!!!!! Ps your tattoos look so good 🤍
Loved all four flips! Yeah, agree with other commenters about replacing the foam cushion next time. Who knows WHAT is living in there! :P Cool shirt BTW. :)
geez, i loved it as a bowl....as a light....special!!!
I loved this thank you Lone Fox! It's really inspiring to see the way you do these things. I adore the lamp base and shade but also the chair so much. I love reviving chairs too - it's such a great way to make a difference to decor.
“That is so pretty but I don’t want to pay for it” 🤣
Wonder why he didn’t replace that nasty😱 foam .. but the chair turned out amazing
Oh, yes........nasty foam!
I think it would have made the flip way more expensive than the others, but it would have been worth it.
I thought of the hygiene aspect as well. It looked awesome at the end, but knowing about the foam would make me not want to sit on it.
@@jccharm Honestly it doesn't look like a chair that's meant to be sat in
@@tigerkind that kind of defeats the purpose of a chair now doesn't it? Even decorative chairs are used for sitting. It wouldn't have cost much more to greatly increase the value.
Yay to vintage/eclectic styles!
Just love thrift flips❤️❤️
I was wondering when we were going to pull out the matte black spray paint 😅
The sorry girls have done the same “terracotta vase” 😊
Omigoodness! YOU! ARE SOOO BRILLIANT WITH THESE IDEAS! THANK YOU
You are brilliant! Love to watch you transform things and share the process
