One tip when upholstering chairs like that - use something thinner like an old bedsheet or t-shirt first for the first layer next to the sponge, then staple on the fabric you want over it. It keeps your sponge cleaner and you can use it for much longer. My mom and I have done this a million times, we change the chair fabric every few years, and only replace the sponge every 10ish years. This also stops the sponge to stick to the fabric when it starts to fall apart, so you can easily reuse the fabric you are just bored with on the chairs.
Great tip!🤗
I’ve never thought to do that before! Thanks for the advice! Sponge is way more expensive than fabric where I live for upholstery projects, and I would love for the sponge to hold up longer 💕
Jug handles suggestion: After attaching the handles, use spackling around the seams where the handles meet the vessel. After it dries, you can sand it a bit to make the transition of jug to handles look nearly invisible. It will appear as though the handles are original to the vessel if done correctly.
This is a great idea! I was thinking along similar lines while watching
that’s what i was thinking definitely made it look a but tacky with the cracks and unevenness i might even try this 👀
A great idea. Im gonna tag on that having wire the clay is formed around will also help with the structure. If the wires are left sticking out thay can be used to anchor the pieces to allow them to stand for baking and in place for less distorting. After baking wire cutters can be used to cut of the extra wire leaving the end flush for attaching.
What is the name of the clay she baked and use to make the handles
@@josephjones6467 she said that she used oven bake clay, essentially a polymer clay. But if your wondering the exact brand, it looks like she’s using the 1lb (454g) brick of Sculpey.
Tips for the clay- wire in the middle to ensure it has some structure and when baking have it propped exactly as you want it with crunched up tin foil
Ooooo crunched tin foil !! Amazing tip thank you so much 😊
@@XOMaCenna welcome :) my father was a potter and I’ve watched some stuff on it
MaCenna, I loved the "free wood frame" you made it beautiful again by restoring the original wood. It will be so beautiful with a mirror in your new house some day. Thank you for sharing your videos with us.
I love all your projects ❤ 💕 they look amazing. God bless
I was so proud she took it! I knew she’d have a great plan!
Oh MaCenna, I was yelling at my iPad for you to grab the frame! I’m so happy you got it. It is utterly stunning. Thank you so much for not painting it I would have cried. 😁 Making it a mood board for now is a genius idea. I love it. 😍
same here!
Muy bonito desde Valencia España 👍
La idea del espejo voy a ponerla en práctica pues tengo uno guardado en el tratero ,y me a parecido...GENIAL ☺
The black chair is a Thonet chair. Michael Thonet was a german carpenter who specialised in bent wood furniture in the 1900's.
Thank you for this info!
if it's a real one this is a lucky find, they cost a lot!
I picked up a small children’s chair for $4.00 because it was a cute turquoise color. It turned out to be a Thonet. I knew nothing about him til I did some research!
It's Austrian Thonet bend wood furniture :) greetings from Austria. You can find such pieces still a lot in our cafés
Chair and free mirror fix
Classic chair design. My parents had chairs like that when I was a child, and I'm 75! Bentwood, post-war, very simple but great.😊 Ours had cane seats though.
A tip for the “mud” look on ceramic... take a dry brush and paint on shoe polish! It makes it look aged and grungy but so much less messy than real mud.
Much better idea! I do t know how these people wipe/clean the thing when it's just covered in dirty water.... Guess they don't?? But what if it gets dusty?
@@laurens7731 I have been using matte clear coat on mine....didn't like the idea of bringing dirt inside the house LOL.
@@kajnadams ah that makes much more sense than essentially putting a dirty case on the dining table 😂
Will the shoe polish counter the matte finish of the paint?
Excellent idea! Definitely going to try this. (Really like the simplicity of MaCenna's vase. And adding the clay handles was genius!)
I'm here since the video with Lone Fox and I'm staying forever! You're so positive and inspiring, xoxo
Me too
Me too!! Love when collabs on my favorite channels feature good RUclipsrs...It's so fun to find new (to me) channels
These videos are the only thing I look forward to on Sundays 💕
aww yay! thank you!
That frame is one of those once in a lifetime finds. For free! So beautiful and I’m so glad you left the finish as it was.
omg! I was dying for that Parisian chair, then each project just kept getting better and better. Loved them all.
Feeling so inspired to go to the thrift stores to find some things with potential! Another great thrift flip video 😊✨🙌
same i’m going today 😩
dri ffeRRrR%ewRrRerR
LI😂😂:-D:-D
I can hardly ever find anything reasonable anymore in goodwill.
The mirror piece reminds me of a violin! It echos a time that has long past, and holds a promising future... simply beautiful!
That mirror/pin board turned out great. When I saw it, I was like "Romeo, start the car"!!!! Like that IKEA commercial when she got a good deal....it was kinda like that. Who gives something like that away for free! It's gorgeous. I also liked the vase, that turned out really nice
All three projects were fabulous!
But- I simply CANNOT get over the beautifully ornate free wooden frame!! 😍
Would have been at least $50 in an antique store.
I love the last one! It's a gorgeous piece and, surprisingly, free!!!
My favorite part of Sunday (besides church of course lol)
💕💕💕
Amen 💯🤣
Same 🙏🏽🙌🏽
The beautiful wooden frame was a find of of the century for free! It looks exquisite!
Fun diy flip collab for you and Lone Fox. You both have stocked up craft rooms. The challenge is don't buy anything, and make something cool using only whats in the other person's craft room.
You've inspired me to thrift and i brought my 8yo daughter with me today, we hit up two goodwills...at first she thought it would be boring, but she got so excited when she started finding stuff and we started brainstorming what we could do with certain items....she's literally looking through her room right now for old items she can "flip"!! She's a Macenna in the making haha!!! Thanks for all of your hard work, you're so inspiring! And we love Kinsley!
I have a mirror that broke and I was saving the frame to fit in a new one but this video gave me another idea 🤣
I love what you did with the little bentwood chair! The rattan accent over the painted wood completely makes it a more beautiful style.
So happy Lone Fox brought me here.
I think Kinsley was trying to help you my walking on the fabric to adhere it more to the foam board lol! So cute. I love how your thrift flips come out elegant 💕
That vintage frame was just an amazing find!! Also loved the chair transformation.
That mirror frame looks like something I'd find in my grandparents' old house. My granddad is gone now and my grandmother isn't herself anymore - seeing you restore and bring that frame back to life was so special!
That free wood frame is gorgeous.
I love to watch your videos, even in these stressing times just seeing your DIY or makeovers makes me feel calm, thank you so much.
Soooo awesome! I loved everything but the antique frame is my favorite. Kinsley is also the best helper ever! 🐕😍
The bistro chair looks beautiful 🌸
You could rule the world with your diy self. That bistro chair...WOW
"How is that frame free??"
First thought: HAUNTED!
Probs originally a mirror, but the glass broke
@@josephodell4830 ...it broke when a ghost jumped out of it!
@@rexrad9735 😂😂
Which ghost 😞
Same
That mirror frame is SO STUNNING oh my gosh! Absolute insanity that it was free! I’ve been searching online for ornate frames & mirrors for months and for one that size it costs anywhere from $50 - $3K ! Amazing! I def wondered if it was haunted haha! It’s so beautiful def my fav of your thrift flips! 😍
I legit thought it was haunted too!! LOL
Great
Me too!
Very hard to find the perfect antique mirror!
Hi Traci, did you ever think to buy modeling air dry clay & buy molds with pretty ornate styles??? Find a large plain mirror & glue on your designs after you make them & paint them to blend in with your mirror frame.
I will be doing that when I move out of state in a few mnths, can't wait!!
Omg! That thought actually crossed my mind too- haunted mirror! Lol
That jar project was Everything!
I loved all three projects, but the pin board was my absolute favorite.
I mean, just a wow. Love that everything is so original and things you actually use rather than just things to fill space on your channel ♥️
Omg MaCenna I love them all! You never cease to amaze me. Leave me inspired week in and week out! xo
Yes, I liked all, but the last one with the mirror redo was AWESOME!
As an interior designer i freaking adored all of these diys in this video!! Also it was surprising to see a beautiful antique wooden frame for free hhh loved the idea of turning it into a moodboard 💙💙💙
Thrilled for you that you found this amazing wooden frame!!!!! The wood came up beautifully and making it into a pinboard for now looks great! Also loved the chair and the vase, but have to confess I quite liked the original colour. It might also have worked with mosaic tiles stuck on. But your version is a great match to the mood board and the whole vibe of your dining room!👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
Kinsley is so cute! I loved all three projects but my fav was the chair. You really got a great find with the free frame! Thanks again for sharing!
I’m blown away, honestly. And I’ve been doing diys my whole life
That board is DREAMY!!!
I find that thrift stores in Claremont have the most amazing finds, it's about 45 mins away from LA but it's my favorite place to thrift!
Thanks for the tip, I live in Glendora and have been hunting the same old shops for years. Found some great stuff but still can't have too many new hunting grounds. And downtown is just too far. Claremont though, that is great news, never thought to check out there.
What streets in Claremont? Or names of stores, I live in San Bernardino! Love Claremont n not far from me at all! Please share! Thanks
E V E R Y T H I N G, I absolutely mean, every DIY is AMAZING!
You are so lucky to find that antique frame. I have been looking EVERYWHERE for YEARSSS that doesn't cost an arm and leg for me to play with.
I don't have words for how relieved I am that you didn't paint that beautiful frame, but kept that wonderful wood as is. I would have cried if you'd painted it.
Free?!?! I would've snatched that up too! 💙
Could be haunted
I need better thrift stores in my area. The one around here has dollar store containers for .99 - ridiculous
Amazed and so jealous that you got the antique French frame for FREE!! It is worth hundreds.
That frame is TO DIE FOR!
She's the "Tinker Bell" of RUclips.
Hahaha it’s like MaCenna hasn’t learned anything from her last breakfast nook table. She’s still doing DIY‘s on this one!😂😂
LOL. I was practically shouting at the television for you to GET THAT ORNATE FRAME!!! What a beautiful FREE item!! Your pin board looks lovely and I was impressed with your “jug” transformation! 👏👏👏♥️
The chair, the chair omg the chair !!! You, my dear are a genius.
I feel like I just saw the female version of drew's (Lone Fox's) last thrift flip😂 A chair, the vase (wich was inspired by the same lamp) and a frame lol
But in the same time it was different and intresting in it's own way❤
This frame was the COOLEST diy yet!!
That free mirror frame is a dream!!!
OMG!!Talk about being in the right place at the right time!! What a deal on that beautiful mirror!! Absolute bst deal EVER!!
Thrift flips are my favorite !!!
Automatic like ! 😜🤍
THAT FRAME IS GORGEOUS
I am so interested in your channel. Because you don’t have a “work room” space either. You make it work!!! I love that. And you sew. I lady after my own heart.
Terrific idea and work !!!!
I live in NYC and you would not BELIEVE the things people throw OUT!!! You could furnish a entire apartment , and well.
They don't even give to a thrift store!
That vase project was super cool! BUT I like all of them ... that mirror is priceless!
The wood on the big frame is AMAZING after you pampered it
I loved all of them, but the one that I really loved was the last thrift flip!!!!
❤❤❤❤
Found you for the first time today. What have I been missing?? The use of the cane on the chair was so clever. It made it one of a kind. I have added new fabric on top of other past coverings in good condition, as an nod to its history and other woman’s choices of decor. It’s interesting to see the different fabrics taste, a real blast from the past. Of course it is a given, the free frame is the envy of most of us out here. Another clever idea 💡 to give it a new lease on life. I’m 75 but still love to find new items and ways to make our home interesting
Absolutely loved chair and the mirror. Amazing! Kinsley is so adorable .
Love, love, LOVE the pinboard!! What a great find and what a great idea!!
Oh my--that framed pin board is fabulous!!!
I love each and everyone of them, my favorite was the free wood frame for the pin board.❤️
That pot! Actually everything!💕💕
Yes ALL OF THEM!! Love
And now the vase !!!!! love it
Wow, everything looks so amazing! My favorite is the mirror frame changed into the mood board! Perfect!
At 12:59 kinsley got spooked and ran away in the back 😂
That frame is a dream!!!! Free-Dollars... 🤯
That's the fabric I was leaning to also. I love it!
That mirror frame...❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤ !!!
OMG, that chair! Love, love, love!
I’m so glad you got that mirror frame! It would also be amazing with an abstract line work or gestural portrait inside!
Love the pin board!!
Love the pin board!
YOUR THRIFT FLIPS ARE MY FAVORITE
Loved the pin board! Kinsley is too cute!
loving the ~fleet foxes~ vibes with the background music!!!
loved them all but that frame... OMG that is gorgeous!
How beautiful would that mirror be in the cottage! Loved this MaCenna!
I especially loved your bulletin/inspiration board!!!
Definite favourite is all of them. That frame is amazing!
Loved them all but my all-time favorite was the antique frame, I mean WOW! Beautiful!
I can't believe that mirror frame was free!!!! Good job MaCenna!
I love the chair turnout omggg
I love the board as like a vision board. Absolutely beautiful!
I loved the mirror frame ... what a wonderful piece !!!
I love all of these!! The vintage/antique vibe of them are tugging at my heart!! It looks like you are decorating the scenes for Emily in Paris.
The mirror frame is everything!! I can’t believe it was free. Creative use of it.
You inspire me !! I am a colorful decorator and watching your creativity I have somehow started using more earth tone neutral colors !! I never really liked macrame or baskets and I find myself looking at them and trying to figure where they can fit in my decor!! Less color more earthy..for now 🙂🙃
I loved all of them!! The wood frame was unique!!
