That tapestry is peruviaaaan! At home we had one soooo similar!!! Omg, nostalgia is coming in 3,2,1 😭 when I was a child, my grandpa told me a lot of fairytales stories based on that image!
It’s insane how cheap these are sold for in Peru. Last time I went I bought one of the tapestries and some hand painted plates that I absolutely adore. I had always seen these in my family’s houses growing up 💕
Yes, they are super common on the whole andean area, from the north of Argentina to Ecuador, basicaly anywhere where you can find Quechuan culture you can find one. Those small ones are the most commons, but there are some that are like 7ft wide!
I love that chair! I’m literally so jealous. Maybe make a base or legs for the chair and use the bottom piece as a foot stool? Make cushions for both or cover the top of the foot stool in woven cane!
As you were making the cushion, I was yelling out, "it was way too small before, make it much bigger and flatter," in the hopes that you would somehow hear me, lol. I love it as a chair. I would just make a larger cushion.
love it as a chair as well! I'd try to make the botton cushion larger but also have a cushion for the back as well. up to you if you'd want them attached or not :)
I like that chair as is with the spinner, once you make the right size cushion and pillow for the back it won't look like too much going on with the wicker, you'll just see the bottom and the sides.
I agree! As much as I love some of the other ideas, the whole swivel thing is so awesome! And as you said, a rare find! My very soul is screaming, NOOOOOOO! to making it into 2 pieces. 😓
I agree 100%. The swivel chairs are super hard to find and it would be such a waste to take it apart. I'm all for the creative reinventing of used or broken pieces but that chair is in fantastic condition and should be kept as is. I'm sure you can find a matching rattan footstool to turn into a side table. Or a broken rattan cane chair that could use new legs. But I really wouldn't encourage people to take apart good condition vintage furniture for the sake of a thrift flip. Maybe make a new cushion by weaving yarn to create texture or add a sheepskin/lumbar pillow.
That’s definitely an Andean/Quechua tapestry. It could be from Ecuador, Peru, Bolivia. Places that have indigenous roots in their country. I’m Ecuadorian and have Quechuan ancestry, but it could be from any of the places that I mentioned, as they have similar ancestry and culture!
hi macenna for your propagations on your heart leaf philadendron make sure you cut a node and get the node in the water so it roots. a single leaf without a node won’t root. also a little direct light on the propagation is ok, like if they’re in a west window you can leave them there and especially in the winter when the days are shorter. hope this helps :) love you girl!
That tapestry is an Ecuadorian wall hanging. I own the same one and I purchased it in Salasaca, a little town in Ecuador famous for their handmade wool tapestries.
Last year I got a very similar chair from an old woman on marketplace she sold it to me for 5 or 10 dollars I think and the cushion was horrendous so I swapped it for a neutral coloured ikea one. She told me that it’s real wicker and originally cost over $200 and I definitely believe that. It’s such a gem and everyone who comes over always thinks that chair has such a warm boho vibe 🤗
Thanks for the info! I could tell it was andean for sure, the alpaca/llama, the hats, the clothes, the colors, the mountain peaks...! I've never seen one done with that technique though! It's very pretty! I have a tapestry I thrifted at home though, and I can't really tell where it's from, not even sure about the general area... my guess is Mexico or somewhere in Meso America, but I could be completely wrong!! xD It really kills me not to know...! lol
Looks great!!! I would definitely split the chair like you were thinking. Maybe make the stool a really pretty plant stand and add some awesome legs on the top piece. And for the cushion, maybe give it to baby Kingsley for Christmas as a little bed in the car! Great job babes, as always!
New cushion with the band!!!! Yeeeees to coffee table!!!! Change the wrapping that keeps it all together to a black or contrasting color. Can't wait!!!!
If she does separate a dig bed from the top and a round lazy Susan coffee table! I would also do my best to keep things as simple as possible so it could go back to the original chair. Just in case! Its completely doable if she goes with this idea.
The wood rings go over a wood rod that rests on the brackets. The little metal ring is where you would hook the curtain. The hooks in themselves actually slip into creases at the top of the curtain. Kind of like a large square paper clip. One end hooks through the the little loop on the ring and the other fastens into the curtain pleat. It's the kind of curtain rod my grandparents had in the 80s. I think we were all happy for the birth of more modern versions! This kind of rod would be great today in a cottage.
My favourite find of the year: your channel! I love all your videos, filled with inspirational thrifting and DIY ideas. Thank you 🙏🏽😊 , have a good Christmas !!! 🎄🎄🎄
Leave it as a chair! its so beautiful, thats my dream thrift find! I think a bigger flatter cushion would look great. You can even get 2-3" thick foam and plywood in the correct size and shape and upholster it. It will look much more professional that way.
Split it up!!! For sure! I agree to every bit of indecisive opinion you had after redoing the “cushion” but it would look so much better as a coffee table and and chair with pretty legs
Omg the tapestry made me so happy!! I am from Ecuador and it brought back so many feels! I am going to see if my parents have any tapestry’s I could frame.
The philodendron your propogated will be easy where you placed it! Just change the water once a week and it roots very quickly! You can cut the roots and let it continue to grow back and live in the vase, or cut them down to 2 inches of root it you pot it (and just keep the soil damp for the first two weeks before backing off since it's going from water to soil, and soak the soil first before planting). This was my quarantine hobby! It was so fun to learn about different plants and their needs! I now have mini garden in my home?
use the cushion for the "footstool" so that it doubles as a seat as well. Maybe attach the cushion to the stool with bands that clip on or attach via velcro
I think you should turn over the bottom and put in the pillow as a bed for the doggie. Then , put on some tapered legs on the chair; sort of mid-century/boho vibe. Glad you bought it!
I love love love the tapestry and how you displayed it!!!! I absolutely love the rattan chair!! I’m going to make myself a propagation window sill in my kitchen window!!! I love thrifting on mondays usually but I also go to them on other days when I have nothing else I have to do. I am an avid thrift flipper, try to use a vintage item in a different way such as old platters for my everyday cooking. Old China pieces for holding my jewelry, vintage stemware for my wine, tea, lemonade glasses. Large Old frames for photo galleries (place smaller pictures in the frame) and so much more.
Well what can I say???? Well done again. Everything perfect. Love the rug into a picture and looking forward to see what you are going to do with chair. Keep safe and enjoy. xxx Lenna uk
I like the separate piece idea for the chair. I think if you found a black leg frame for the chair it would fit your boho/industrial vibe. It would match your black window frame too! The pillow would look good against the back of the chair instead of as a cushion since it’s too small. Maybe add some texture with tassels or wooden beading to the pillow too. And it’d be cool to make a side table from the bottom piece of the chair but put the spin piece back in and it could be like a lazy Susan table? Idk if that’s functional but seems cool!! Love your channel 💜
Thanks for showing the chair, even though it didn't turn out how you wanted! Its important to show the real side of what you do - sometimes things don't go as planned!!
I clicked on the video when I saw that tapestry on the thumbnail, I'm from Peru and this gives me so much nostalgia. My parents have a similar one hanging in the terrace. So beautiful!
I like the idea of new legs for the chair and making a side table...spray painting and making a new cushion with the band and piping. There are so many ways to go with paint color and fabric. It could actually be pretty spectacular.
Add hairpin legs to the top- I think it would make it much more interesting, & contemporary, esp. since you're using it inside. The base can be sooo many things - basket, flip it over add that same pillow to the top, or add a table top and make it into a side table for the chair. Have fun!
Check your marketplace. I live in a pretty small town and I've recently seen a lot more listed. I think people get them cheap in thrift stores, and sale them for more now that boho is such a huge deal.
I used to work at a florist and those vases were the ones we had for when someone wanted 1-3 roses with babies breath :) As for the chair, I say leave it as-is unless you find legs and a table top that you think can work seamlessly with it. I think the original cushion shrunk in the wash, because it fit the chair when it was at the thrift store, and after washing, it was super round like a little stuffed donut haha :) I'm always so impressed with your DIY's. The wooden ring-vases turned out amazing!
As soon as you lifted the base of the chair up, I thought Christmas Tree stand. Add some fabric or textured material on the inside, maybe some lights and plop a tree in the hole! Loved the wood ring pottery, I love how you can see things that would never come to mind.
A separate chair and a foot stool using the cushion you made would be so cool! Merry Christmas to you too! Thanks for making my life better during the pandemic!
I really love the way the vases turned out! I was skeptical on the paint finishing but it looked amazing (simultaneously rustic and expensive-looking) in the end!
I liked the second flip, with the vases. My grandmother always had a glass root ball in her kitchen window. I inherited that when she passed away. I don’t have it in my window yet. I have clunky blinds. I’m going to either make or buy some type of kitchen curtains. So I can put that in my window when it’s safe to use it. It’s very delicate glass on a wrought iron stand. I think you should put other legs on the chair and make a footstool out of the bottom. Just sit on the cushion awhile. It will go flatter. Can’t wait for the next thrift flip video.
The tapestry frame looks amazing in contrast to the festive decor. Simply amazing! The chair would look good as it it but maybe change the cushions into a boho style/colour fabric.
I love what you did with the tapestry, i am sure someone spent so many hours making it and you are honoring it :) it looks so cute ! For the chair, i don't think it should be two pieces, i think you can make a better shaped/sized cushion. Maybe in a more fun patterned / darker fabric ?
I honestly dont know about that last one but excited to see what happens hahah! I appreciate the propagation station one so much because it is so simple and easy. I love your complex ones but am also inspired by something simple! Thanks for including it!
So many thoughts! 1. THE BAKING SODA PAINT WORKS! LOOKS GOOD! LETS NOT MAKE THAT GO AWAY ANYTIME SOON! 2. The tapestry framed looked so so good! I was screaming buy that buy that!! 3.Should have got the rose macrame tan pillow cases too! I was really hoping to see those repurposed into something cool. 4.The wood rings turned out amazing as per usual!! I did my bath and body works foaming hand soap bottles with a plaster of paris mixed paint in a cool aged terracotta look. I freaking loved how they turned out! 5. Oh my goodness that chair! I knew you were going to get it! I wouldn't have left without it. Part of me says it's a great chair in great shape just make different cushions for it in a more modern look. Then the Heywood Wakefield lover in me says turn it to a lazy Susan coffee table!! I had a Heywood Wakefield rare spinning coffee table with a base shaped close to the chair but it only had 3 legs with a round base. It was our first real piece of furniture as a couple and I lost it in a storage room water damage disaster! Breaks my heart thinking about it. I loved it and it was a instant conversation piece everytime we had company. So if you can use the spinning part and make a wood top for it a part of me says go for it! I would try my best to not mess with the original integrity so you can make it back to a chair if it doesn't work out. Definitely look up Heywood Wakefield round spinning tables they are a slice of MCM HEAVEN! HOPE YOU SEE THIS! ❤❤❤
Keep the chair together, and yes, add a band around the cushion- it's loosing some of its width because it's curving up to meet the top! No need to scrap it, just pick it open and add a band! I'd go with a foam pad inside with the stuffing added. I'd also add ties to the back like the original cushion to help keep it in place!
Yes! That chair is so beautiful! I think the reason why that cushion was too small, is because the other back pillow would sit behind the cushion and on the sides, slightly, moving it forward and making it all look like it fits...but that's just what I think.
Definitely keep as a chair!! Make the cushion thinner and wider. If you sew some wood buttons “large ones “ through the top to make your cushion look more “finished or polished “. I absolutely love the chair! I have so many ideas running through my head right now, but I think you were on the right path, just need a little tweaking. You could make the cushion larger, wider and hand sew some of the wood beads that you use in bowls all the time that would give you a beautiful finished edge to your cushion 🤔
I say turn the chair into a set with the bottom as a foot stool and the top as the seat with new legs. You can use the cushion you sewed as the cushion on the foot stool and then it’s also dual purpose for another seat. The banding on the seat cushion is definitely needed, and I think some little tassel add ons to the cushions would give the set such a cute boho feel :)
I think the chair would be adorable as a swing. Make the seat into a swing and the bottom into a side table.
I like the swing idea!
È[
I was going to say a swing as well!
I just commented the same thing... 😂
Yes! This^
Kinsley walking around in the background gets me every time. She’s so cute.
Yess.... sometimes I watch videos just to see her pop in🥰🥰🥰
KEEP IT AS A CHAIR! Just take time on the cushions
That tapestry is peruviaaaan! At home we had one soooo similar!!! Omg, nostalgia is coming in 3,2,1 😭 when I was a child, my grandpa told me a lot of fairytales stories based on that image!
That’s really cool that someone has a memory of a similar image.
I love your story!! One generation passing along their stories to the next. 💖
It’s insane how cheap these are sold for in Peru. Last time I went I bought one of the tapestries and some hand painted plates that I absolutely adore. I had always seen these in my family’s houses growing up 💕

omg
i knew it!! ive been and hubby is born and raisedddd yay
I love that chair! I’m literally so jealous. Maybe make a base or legs for the chair and use the bottom piece as a foot stool? Make cushions for both or cover the top of the foot stool in woven cane!
YES!!! I LOVE THIS IDEA
Yes!!!!
I'd let the chair be as is, and I would style it with a really fluffy sheepskin throw, maybe Icelandic sheep skin.
Love Your Idea! Excellent!
As you were making the cushion, I was yelling out, "it was way too small before, make it much bigger and flatter," in the hopes that you would somehow hear me, lol. I love it as a chair. I would just make a larger cushion.
Agree. Love the hair but definitely larger flatter cushion.
I agree! Leave as is, just needs a different cushion!
Larger cushion with tassels all around.
love it as a chair as well! I'd try to make the botton cushion larger but also have a cushion for the back as well. up to you if you'd want them attached or not :)
I think the fabric shrunk when you washed it. 🤷♀️
I like that chair as is with the spinner, once you make the right size cushion and pillow for the back it won't look like too much going on with the wicker, you'll just see the bottom and the sides.
Keep as a chair!! The swivel ones are rare. I like your idea of making it more expensive looking with a band of fabric.
I agree! As much as I love some of the other ideas, the whole swivel thing is so awesome! And as you said, a rare find!
My very soul is screaming, NOOOOOOO! to making it into 2 pieces. 😓
I agree 100%. The swivel chairs are super hard to find and it would be such a waste to take it apart. came here to say this. probably woven from hand dyed alpaca
hi macenna for your propagations on your heart leaf philadendron make sure you cut a node and get the node in the water so it roots. a single leaf without a node won’t root. also a little direct light on the propagation is ok, like if they’re in a west window you can leave them there and especially in the winter when the days are shorter. hope this helps :) love you girl!
this is exactly what i was going to say! :)
as a plant hoarder, i noticed this right away. haha.
Came to say the same
Glad other plant people caught that too! 😂😅
Ditto!
That tapestry is an Ecuadorian wall hanging. I own the same one and I purchased it in Salasaca, a little town in Ecuador famous for their handmade wool tapestries.
Yes, i have few similar paintings from Ecuador too which i purchased from Quito during my stay there.
Omg noooo! Keep the chair on its own! It’s so beautiful!
Agree!
👍
Love the chair as is. Great find. No way would I spilt it up. Too crafty.
The Tapestry looks great ❤️ I'd keep the chair together and remake the cushion x
The tapestry is Peruvian!! 🇵🇪 I got so excited when I saw it, loove the frame you made for it! 😍🥰
yes!! 1.99 is such a great deal!!
Thanks for the info! I could tell it was andean for sure, the alpaca/llama, the hats, the clothes, the colors, the mountain peaks...! I've never seen one done with that technique though! I did too! I knew it was from Peru right away from the alpacas haha
@@nataliegayoso how do you know this could be Ecuador or Bolivia as well.
the trapestry a is San Pedro de Cajas style from Peru color style an weabing technique!
I vote for keeping the chair, it's gorgeous the way it is! For the cushion I wonder if it would look nice tufted :)
Looks great!!! I would definitely split the chair like you were thinking. Maybe make the stool a really pretty plant stand and add some awesome legs on the top piece. And for the cushion, maybe give it to baby Kingsley for Christmas as a little bed in the car! Great job babes, as always!
I agree
Those are really good ideas!
Hi how are you doing my friend
Oh yes! This is my favourite out of the suggestions
The tapestry might be one of my favorite things you have thrifted. I LOVE it.
The tapestry looks like an image from a town in Peru.
Or Equador
Yes, for the lama
Came here to say this!
Beautiful baby's
Definitively from the Andes: Chie, Perú, Bolivia, Ecuador. Is a very popular tapestry made out of alpaca or llama wool
As a peruvian, my heart sang when I saw the tapestry in the thumbnail 💕💕
It made me smile & giggle seeing your dog in the intro just doing her thing...love dogs & love your videos!
Please keep it in one piece as a chair, a few adjustments to size of the cushion and it will be beautiful!!💕
I love wicker chairs with just a textured throw and lumbar pillow, no cushion.
New cushion with the band!!!!
Yeeeees to coffee table!!!!
Change the wrapping that keeps it all together to a black or contrasting color. Can't wait!!!!
Use a hair straightener on the corner of the tapestry maybe ? I love the chair but the curtain circles in vases look good too 😁
I absolutely love her dog's portrait in the background! So wholesome
That chair is my dream chair! I can never find any comfortable spacious chairs like that! Btw I love your videos!! 💞
Yeah that's the best one. I would actually love it as a computer desk chair since it swivels :)
The tapestry is from Cusco, Peru. I'm so hyped to see this. I'm Peruvian so I feel so proud 🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪🇵🇪
I think the top of the chair would make a great dog bed!
We need to have a video starring Kinsley 🥺❤
Split it up!!! For sure! I agree to every bit of indecisive opinion you had after redoing the “cushion” but it would look so much better as a coffee table and and chair with pretty legs
I love the chair, 🤍🤍 just make a bigger cushion and backrest.
Kinsley's little head popping up in sections of the video is the cutest thing ever, I'm in love 🥰
Omg the tapestry made me so happy!! I am from Ecuador and it brought back so many feels! I am going to see if my parents have any tapestry’s I could frame.
The philodendron your propogated will be easy where you placed it! Just change the water once a week and it roots very quickly! use the cushion for the "footstool" so that it doubles as a seat as well. Maybe attach the cushion to the stool with bands that clip on or attach via velcro
Never would have thought of taking the chair apart but you have the vision! Love that idea!
I would definitely keep the chair as a whole piece. I would just make a back cushion similar to the one it already came with.
Keep it as a chair!!!! I personally love how it turns, and I do think a cute, more better-fitting cushion is all it needs
The cushion is smaller because the chair had that other cushion for the back.
I really love the way the tacks look with the tapestry. Your mom knows what she's talking about!
I’m so excited for this!! You are my biggest inspiration when it comes to home decor ❤️
I think you should turn over the bottom and put in the pillow as a bed for the doggie. Then , put on some tapered legs on the chair; sort of mid-century/boho vibe. Glad you bought it!
Kinsley jumping on the couch out of nowhere made me laugh so hard I love it 😂🥰
I love love love the tapestry and how you displayed it!!!! I absolutely love the rattan chair!! I’m going to make myself a propagation window sill in my kitchen window!!!
I love thrifting on mondays usually but I also go to them on other days when I have nothing else I have to do. Well what can I say???? Well done again. Everything perfect. Love the rug into a picture and looking forward to see what you are going to do with chair. Keep safe and enjoy. xxx Lenna uk
I wouldn't change the chair. It is so perfect already!
It’s from Peru!!! The highland! I am Peruvian. OMG I love that chair! Maybe a chair and ottoman!? It’s gorgeous!
I agree with everyone who said keep it as a chair. It reminds me sooo much of the Ikea Buskbo chair - that I wish I could afford!
Love the tapestry - what a find. Keep showing us all of your great ideas with Kinsley.
Where did you get your sweatshirt? Really cute.
Love the idea of the chair with new legs and matching table. Also like the idea of turning the top into a swing.
KEEP THE CHAIR!! Those are next to impossible to find in my area!
That tapestry looks like it came from Peru, the Llama gives it away🤗🤗 Nice DIYs MaCenna👏👏🤗🤗😍
Wow amazing find on the tapestry! Where I am that would be taken in a second! I have a handmade bag that looks kind of like this 🙂
I like the separate piece idea for the chair.
I've never been this early to an upload! Australian timezones ruin everything ahaha I'm so excited though!! love your content xx
Thanks for showing the chair, even though it didn't turn out how you wanted! Its important to show the real side of what you do - sometimes things don't go as planned!!
When we finish wool hookrugs we "block" then using damp towel and and iron to set them square and straight.
I clicked on the video when I saw that tapestry on the thumbnail, I'm from Peru and this gives me so much nostalgia. My parents have a similar one hanging in the terrace. So beautiful!
This tapestry is from the beautiful country Peru, south America.
This could be from Ecuador or Bolivia as well.
I like the idea of new legs for the chair and making a side table...spray painting and making a new cushion with the band and piping. There are so many ways to go with paint color and fabric. It could actually be pretty spectacular.
Loveeee!
Definitely go with transforming it into a new chair with a footstool! 🙌🏾❤️
Add hairpin legs to the top- I think it would make it much more interesting, & contemporary, esp. since you're using it inside. The base can be sooo many things - basket, flip it over add that same pillow to the top, or add a table top and make it into a side table for the chair. Have fun!
So unfair that chair would never be found in a thrift store here 😭
Check your marketplace. I live in a pretty small town and I've recently seen a lot more listed. I think people get them cheap in thrift stores, and sale them for more now that boho is such a huge deal.
eBay or Facebook marketplace have lots of choice re old chairs & footstools on wicker or cane.
Make the chair a separate hanging chair believe me it will look dope 😘👍
Absolutely love this idea!!!
Keep it as a chair! I think it's super cute! I even like that it spins but I see how that wouldn't work in a small space.
i want the chair so bad 😭 i can never find furniture:(
Yes! Chair with new legs and a footstool with a cushion on it!
Use the top of the chair and make a swing or hanging chair! :D
That is the dream chair I need for my bedroom, but oh that original cushion. AH!
The base of the chair could make a really awesome plant stand. Love the idea of the chair top with metal legs of some kind
As soon as you lifted the base of the chair up, I thought Christmas Tree stand. Add some fabric or textured material on the inside, maybe some lights and plop a tree in the hole! Loved the wood ring pottery, I love how you can see things that would never come to mind.
I love the idea of the chair becoming its own new chair with new legs and then a little side table! So cute! Can’t wait to see what you do with it!!

I have clunky blinds. I’m going to either make or buy some type of kitchen curtains. So I can put that in my window when it’s safe to use it. It’s very delicate glass on a wrought iron stand. For the chair, i don't think it should be two pieces, i think you can make a better shaped/sized cushion. Maybe in a more fun patterned / darker fabric ?
Loved how your dog just popped up! Lol.
I also have a large collection of glass vases, so THANK YOU for the idea on what to do with them!!
Yea gurl!! Turn it into a table and a chair!!! Such a great idea!!
I think the chair with new legs & the bottom as a coffee table with a round wooden top would look so cute ❤️
I always love your thrift flips, but I love that you turned this into a Q&A too!
The chair is gorgeous as it is! A new cushion with a band will be perfect
These are great. I always look at the linens. I frequently find great vintage placemats, table cloths, and even napkins.
All of my aunties had that chair back in the 90s! 🤣 My grandma too! Glad to see it coming back into style
I honestly dont know about that last one but excited to see what happens hahah! I appreciate the propagation station one so much because it is so simple and easy. I love your complex ones but am also inspired by something simple! Thanks for including it!
I’m sure whatever you do it will come out fabulous. Happy Holidays to you and your family!! Can’t wait to see what you have fir us in 2021!!!
I really love how you took the little Mexican rug piece of art and made it into the picture that you did really turned out cute
Two separate piece. You are so talented and creative. I know it is going to o be amazing. Just like the tapestry. That is gorgeous.
