In my drinking days I externalized the demon and gave it a name, and pictured it as a large gorilla (believe it or not) trying to intimidate me into drinking. When I quit I visualized locking it into a cage with the bars welded shut, no way to exit or enter the cage

I have never commented before but I found your channel shortly after my husband's alcohol related death. I never understood completely what his addiction to alcohol was doing to his brain until it was to late. That is actually how I found your videos searching for wet brain. I wish I knew the symptoms prior to his accident ,it might not have changed the out come but it would have helped me understand things better. I continue to watch still trying to make sense of it all. Thank you for sharing your story ..it's truly helping me understand the disease better and helps me to stop blaming myself for not knowing or understanding what all he was going through.

@Jo In I totally understand when you say you treat other people better than you treat yourself. Why do we self punish? No matter what makes us act this way, whether its trauma or just low confidence, we don't deserve this shit were inflicting upon ourselves. You probably already know that, its so fukin hard to stop but everyday I keep telling myself 'your better than this, you don't deserve to do this to yourself' over and over and over again.......were doing something we hate! Why? .... actually look at it like this too.... your not being nicer to other people at all... your being a selfish arsehole! So stop copping out in self pity! All your loved ones don't think its nice of you to weigh heavy on there hearts. Constantly worrying about you, wondering when there going to be burying you...is that being nice?? No is it fuck...... your still looking for excuses and blame.... YOU can stop it and I hope you do, you deserve better and I'm pretty sure you owe it to your loved ones to stop too. They'd rather you was a sober prick than a drunk wimp.....c,mon lets go man....x

My brother in law has drank alcohol 🍸 for 30 years . I mean when I say he's drank...he has drank 24/7 for his entire 30 years of his life. Not only has he ruined his 30 years , He's ruined his 2 daughters lives, his wonderful abiding wife of 36 years. When my B.I.L. Jimmy drank he would turn into dr. Jekyll and Mr 🤪 Crazy. Jimmy got to a point where the Drinking wasn't enough. He added Marijuana. This made him start slurring and becoming more obnoxious . Then Jimmy added cocaine . ALL THE WHILE HE WOULD RUN TO REHAB TO TRY TO GET HELP TO DRY OUT. This would last about 2 weeks if that, then back on the crazy 🤪 🚆 train. One time he got so drunk and snorted large amounts or cocaine and he barricaded himself into the house. His 3 teenage girls coming home from school they put their key 🔑 into the door 🚪 as he was baracaded into his closet having serious paranoid thoughts that aliens 👽 was tryin to kill him. Luckily his 2 girls , the older one went to the apartment managers office and used the telephone to call her mom at work and tell her the situation. Mama 🐻 bear comes home and literally had to go talk to him thru the bedroom window for him to come out and she had to convince him there was no aliens around. So after 30 years of rehab and abuse to his wife and girls he said he felt a tugging in his heart to go to this different rehab who offered holistic help along with a hospital environment of nurses who could do a I.V. alcohol taper becuase he had violent seizures from detox alcohol withdrawal tremors. So after 1 week in the new rehab he was able to come off everything thru prayer and fasting and with God and the awesomeness of the new rehab facility that closely monitored him. This time he stayed clean for 3 years. He was like a different person . A good person and good father and husband now. It did damage to the family which they all are still counseled and still going to al*anon. But I just wanted to tell this really happens and there is a serious spiritual attachment of some kind. They don't call alcohol SPIRITS for no reason. I pray for anyone who is struggling with any sort of addiction and wants to quit the addiction but they do not understand there is alot of help out tbere . U just have to number 1 admit u are powerless over the addiction and that you are willing to get help and rehab to be FREE OF THIS ATTACHMENT. AMEN.Jesus saves
