Amazing recording... I've heard this many different times, and have even played it, but this might be the most memorable of all. In many places they take their time... Especially on the Andante, you can hear all of the notes. Yet in the 4th movement, it's the most energetic I've ever heard... Amazingly well played and thoughtfully interpreted... just loved it!
I was lucky enough to get a ticket to a Tchahikovsky concert here in the Musikverein which was being televised back to Russia as it was the Moscow State Symphony Orchestra and the music was almost secondary to the magnificence of this setting. It just blows you away. I would like to have heard this or the 9th there.
This was not an easy Beethoven 5 to listen to;. My opinion, is this is closer to what Beethoven heard in his head. I don't know if it is this performance, or now that I'm older, not how I heard it when I was 5 or 17 or 27; but I heard notes I hadn't heard before until now. But Thieleman's interpretation is one that has to be listened to several times in which to get acclimated. It connects to everything. It hits you in the gut, which I (just speaking for myself) feel was Beethoven's intention (similar to his "Eroica"). I am not the same listener, nor human as I was before this performance. My profound love for Ludwig has been increased a thousand-fold. Thank you.
The dynamism of the 4th movement is absolutely amazing. Fisher Ivan at Concertgebouworkest is at the same level 10 out of 10, but this fourth movement is 11 out of 10 in my opinion. Look Thieleman's face at then end. Like Rafael Nadal at Roland Garros. Thank you Maestro, thank you Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra, great great work.
Ich auch sollte viel früher geboren werden. Der heutige Lärm kann man kaum die Musik sein. Es gibt weder Melodien noch Sinn. Das ist schon längst verschwunden. Wie Schade!
If the great man didn't resurrect after this performance, then we shall have to hold in our hearts that the good Ludwig has long been enjoying his place in the grand orchestra in the sky. I wonder if he knew he'd be talked about on RUclips?
I'm a Rock and Roller but my father listened to classical music and I guess it stuck with me too. I've always made time for Beetoven, Bach, Chopin... The birds in my backyard love it also.
Beethoven # 5 kept popping in my mind when I took the medical qualifying exam ECFMG to the point that I find exam taking joyful. I don't know why and when the results came back it was higher than expected. That was more than 50 years ago ! RIP Ludwig, thank you for your sharing your talent.

The energy of this piece astounds me every time I hear it. Beethoven's passion runs deeper than the oceans.

Thank God for Beethoven.
Thank God for Thielmann!
The 6th Symphony is a delightful diversion. The 5th comes straight from the heart.
No words to deter the feeling
Spectacular
around the 20 minute mark i feel like there’s a lot of passages that seem to have inspired rachmaninov in his piano concertos, breathtaking!
The best of all times ♥️♥️♥️
a fantastic music
In my opinion, still the best music ever written.
What a beautiful sound
This is wholesome and wonderful
This performance brings out the grace and beauty of the piece, especially the 4th movement, and not just the bombast.
The Beauty of the place and time, and its peoples.
Can any one resurrect this gentleman? See what he left us to enjoy. May his soul rest in peace
If the great man didn't resurrect after this performance, then we shall have to hold in our hearts that the good Ludwig has long been enjoying his place in the grand orchestra in the sky. I wonder if he knew he'd be talked about on RUclips?
Grandissimo Maestro.
they've taken down the original post. shhhhh! ty for uploading this. :))
Very well done. Bravo
Fabulous to go inward and revere

The conductor is like the empire of signal
Apparently the opening bars of Creedence Clearwater Revival's "Proud Mary" are based on the opening bars of Beethoven's Symphony No.5.
Whenever I search for Beethoven's 5 the I think this is so bourgeoisie. But it is so good to listen to.
One of the best ways ive found to drown out my tinnitus
Bellísima e inefable interpretación de los músicos vieneses y la magistral conducción del Maestro Thielemann, bravissimo
Bravo!

One day I'll see an opera house
Maybe that's too hard because they're all side by side at the same time, they don't have a head phone or headset I'm so amazeeee!!
Damn that's one long symphony
fire
As we say in England, 'blimey!'
Ludwig's father use to beat him in the head. He had lost his hearing when he wrote this symphony.
He had begun to lose his hearing when he wrote this. He was deaf as a post when he wrote the 9th.
