Whenever I see and hear this orchestra of young people of nationalities whose relationships are not easy, I am happy and for me it is a symbol of a better future. Great respect for them and for the genius conductor and pianist and "father" of the orchestra.
Merci !!!🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏🙏
He’s simply amazing. Playing Beethoven and conducting. There’s a good chance that every smile, look, nod, head shake, wink, tic, and movement of his head is his conducting but his hands are playing so he has to find other ways to perform conducting duties while playing Beethoven. Janine Jansen does the same thing, while playing violin and conducting an amazing rendition of Vivaldi “The Four Seasons”

Strange, I was just thinking of that myself. His unique. There will never be someone to take his place. I just live in the moment. This piece is heavenly. I enjoy living in the moment. Bravo. 😊
It is a joy to hear this performance of Beethoven's sublime 3rd Piano Concerto in C Minor by Daniel Barenboim and the West-Eastern Divan Orchestra. Such excellent playing. Directing from the piano must be difficult, I've seen Ashkenazy doing it very well too in the past. I imagine there's a risk of the pianist/conductor getting distracted from the interpretation of the piano part by the need to direct the orchestra. It is also remarkable what a great pianist like Daniel Barenboim can memorise. As a dedicated amateur jazz pianist who doesn't read music I sometimes think I'm doing well to have about 170 American Songbook and other genre pieces in the memory bank and with improvisations too, including a few of my own short compositions. Then you hear the great classical pianists such as Daniel Barenboim and it is just mind-boggling what they are able to commit to memory and play perfectly too. It actually inspires me to improve, even though I can't play classical music, just the odd quote from classical pieces used as an introduction or to improvise on. The 3rd Piano Concerto is always great to hear. I love the eerie passage just after the huge cadenza, followed by the triumphant end to that first movement, then the gorgeous, reflective second movement, and the brilliant finale. As ever with Beethoven, there are beautiful sounds coming from the woodwind section.
How wonderful that the mature musician, Mr Barenboim with his life and musical experience and immense energy can bring young, talented musicians together to bring joy and extasy for the listeners. Let be peace in the world!
That's the spirit, there's no need for a conductor, the pianist can hack both. And cash in both fee$. But with Barenboim it ain't about a fee, It's about sheer joy and glee, spreading unbelievably positive and contangious energy. And WHAT an "unbuttoned", fancy free dress code at that. The musicians CAN breathe & play with ease.
What a master piece. This music has been playing on in my head for ages and still I come back for more & more of the same wonderful sound of perfection.
Daniel Barenboin is for me one of the most polfacetic musicians as piano player and dirigent. This partiture is the best I like among the pianoconcerts. The language is dramatic with some moments of hope that fall drowned in a sea of uncertainty (more or less as the fitst mouvement of the fifth). The second one, in the far tonality of mi maggiore, creates other enviroment liricly as a nocturne by Chopin The effect of the performance is always the accurrate one. The orchestar takes the ambiance of the piano easily as a logical answer. A 4 notes secuence of the woods has gentel arpeges of the piano (a complete masterwork). The violence returns in the last mouvement, a rondo. A second musical idea creates a cima of a little tranquijity. A frienly melody of the clarinet is followed by a fugatto. At the end the main melody is followed by the second one. A variation of the theme preludes the end of the work. ❤
If people think others are better, why are you on here listening to Barenboim and annoyingly replying to my praise of him? You won't change anyone's mind like that. Especially someone who has been listening to classical music as long as I have.
Perhaps the second or third greatest work of Beethoven in my book. The performance is wonderful. Daniel B is going to be missed sorely because of his humanity regard beyond music itself. Also to all who cooperate in order to place this art to a world sorely in need of cooperation. And the experience is pretty much free of money, travel, etc. Thank you so very much.
There are no words to describe this piece of Beethoven so tender, forcefully played by a superb fairly young orchestra and a superb conductor and pianist,it is like going just a short time to heaven,! Thank you 😅!
What a great performance! Master Barenboim is beyond.... what a conductor and what a pianist 🙏 an absolute MASTERPIECE interpretation from this wonderful young MUSICIANS 🙏 A delight to listen and watch 🤗🙏
It is Beethoven's happiest concerto. Personally, I don't like the pianist become a conductor. But it is without any doubt an excellent interpretation, by one of the best pianists. More than that, Barenboim is one of the musicians most faithful to the score, with impeccable interpretations, from someone who truly knows and loves music. One of the best musicians of all time, alongside a Toscanini, Furtwängler, Karajan or Rubinstein
There is an intimacy between piano soloist and orchestra that would be diluted with a separate conductor for the orchestra, and indirectly for the pianist. I've always been impressed with Barenboim's musical genius - this exemplifies it to the fullest.
For so long, I missed his piano soloist who might seeming to be the master conductor for all the composers regardless the piano pieces for 21st century...This video is remarkably come back for his original talented musician who becomes the most prominent conductor for Clasical years in music...
!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!wow....Daniel......has sido una inspiración en mi vida desde el momento en que supe de tí....MUCHAS GRACIAS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
An appreciative audience and enthusiastic applause at the conclusion of this masterful performance. A wonderful listening experience by this enormously talented ensemble of young musicians with venerable maestro Daniel Barenboim soloist and conductor. ❤

Daniel Barenboim said that music was never a career or a profession for him, but a way of life.
You only have to listen to know he is absolutely fully dedicated, you can't play this well unless it is your life.
Whenever I see and hear this orchestra of young people of nationalities whose relationships are not easy, I am happy and for me it is a symbol of a better future. Great respect for them and for the genius conductor and pianist and "father" of the orchestra.

This is how it was done back in the day of Beethoven and Mozart where they conducted and played their own work. Very hard to do well, but here is it.
❤
Mr. Daniel Barenboim is a great pianist also a great conductor. Bravo and good luck for him.
everyone's sweating, public and performers. mr barenboim is the iron man, playing and conducting in the heat

He is so good that he can be soloist and conductor at the same time. Thank you for sharing this great interpretation of Beethoven’s masterpiece.

This is how Mozart, Beethoven etc used to perform their pieces. Conducting and performing together. Barenboim likes to keep it OG.
