    It always moves me and makes me deeply happy that I live in Germany with a unique orchestral landscape of 110 professional orchestras and a soooo rich musical culture. And that YT - whatever you think of it - gives us all access to these musical pearls, completely democratic and determined in the spirit of Beethoven. And thanks to all the musicians who, at this level, put their entire lives in the service of music for the joy and healing of all of us.

      He’s not my favorite cellist, and is behind several others, but the subjectivity of the art is what makes it so fascinating and wonderful! That way, many brilliant musicians can make a living and we get to have a wide choice! In the late ‘60s, Christopher Nupen (Allegro Films) managed to make a film of Barenboim, Perlman, Jacqueline Du Pre, Pinchas Zukerman (viola) and Zubin Mehta (bass) as they rehearsed and performed Schubert’s “Trout Quintet” with the English Chamber Orchestra, which is still _PHENOMINAL!!_ I’d already loved Du Pre’s playing and mourned her tragic early death before I saw the film, but that cemented her as my favorite cellist. Why I’m cold to Ma is a mystery to me….as a classically trained musician myself, I can surely appreciate his art, but that’s as far as it goes. Weird, huh?

      Inspiring, and sublime are words one can use, but the German word 'namenlose' comes to my mind: I did not spell it with all the proper German punctuation, but it conveys an expression we attempt to put words to, which only the Music itself and the Minds that embrace it can express: as it is 'Nameless'

    I cannot say how much feeling I have for Itzhak Perlman’s pure artistry and positivity, a brilliant, cheerful man who loves to joke but is not fooled by anyone or anything, and has such an appetite for music and fellowship, who adores his wife and kids, who has made a monumental career despite obvious drawbacks which would easily bury another, less resilient, artist. He is a man who rises to the occasion, who grabs life by the throat in the most positive sense imaginable, and is the King of turning lemons into lemonade and notes on the page into some of the most gorgeous sounds ever heard. Perlman seems to pour it all from his overflowing mind and heart into his unforgettable music, with such generosity of spirit that there’s no room for ego, and I love all of it! (The other men are amazing, too, especially Barenboim, but it’s the fiddler’s turn today!)

    Yo-Yo Ma is phenomenal. As is everyone in this performance, but Yo-Yo is a superb musical conversationalist. He watches his colleagues almost every moment (hardly ever looking at his own instrument) so as to respond to every nuance as they play. To me, he is a marvel of a musician. Yitzhak and Daniel are great too, but it's as though Yo-Yo Ma is looking after them. What a wonderful performance of the Triple Concerto! Thank you for the upload.

      IMO Barenboim is the single greatest interpreter, performer, and keeper of the knowledge of all things Beethoven

    Che altro dire,sentire eseguire in maniera eccelsa il triplo concerto da questi mostri sacri,Baremboim,Perlman e Yo Yo Ma mette solo una ammirazione e piacere nell'ascoltare questo capolavoro della musica classica classica

    I am sorry the camera operator keeps going in so close. I think what I want to see is how the soloists work together as a trio rather than what each individual is doing. But a wonderful performance nonetheless and wonderful to have this available.

    Cette version de la Fantaisie-Chorale est aux antipodes de celle dirigée par O.Klemperer avec D.Barenboim au piano en 67. Deux pures merveilles.

    Of course! A Triple Concerto is not often performed, because it needs such great musicians as Itzhak Perlman, Daniel Barenboim and Yo-Yo Ma. That explains why I've never heard this piece. Thanks for posting!

    As I listen to this, I can’t help wishing that Jacqueline Du Pre was playing in the trio! The film and recording of the “Trout Quintet” by Christopher Nupen and starring Perlman, Barenboim, Du Pre, Pinchas Zukerman (viola) and Zubin Mehta (bass) is one of my favorite music documentaries of all time!

    • @samueltiosam8673
      @samueltiosam8673 11 месяцев назад

      Eu imaginei Jacqueline no lugar de Mr. Ma. A presença dela tornaria este concerto em algo esfuziante, como sempre acontecia com ela. Talvez ela ainda esteja em cena, se for o Davidov que está sendo tocado por Yo-Yo Ma! Quem viu, viu!

      I love that documentary too, amazing to see them all so young 55 yrs ago. It's a wonderful performance ("The Trout" is my favorite piece of chamber music), and it's fun to see them cutting up backstage before they take the stage. I don't know if it's still on YTube; I bought the DVD 'cause you never know when a video will suddenly be taken down.

      As a musician myself, I can say that nobody in that orchestra would care if _no one_ showed up! They play just as well to an empty theater. But I’ve noticed that people who look for negativity usually find it!
