- In my arrangement of the Twelve Days of Christmas, I play a different instrument on each day, but not ordinary instruments. Xaphoon, cello banjo, double ocarina, dan moi jawharp, solicaster, qanun, chordomonica, bass harmonica, sitar, bombard, tongue drum, guzheng, pipa, claviola and burdola. It was a fun challenge figuring out how to make this strange ensemble into fun, listenable music.

Those. Jazz chords are amazing the way you do it. Can't believe how big those chords are on such a compact instrument.
The richness of that chordominica is awesome! They should make more of those.
Thank you for your demos! I heard the soundtrack to “The Good the Bad and the Ugly”, and I couldn’t place one of the sounds. I just guessed a bass harmonica existed. Your demo proved I was right. It’s huge!! Also, I really like your harmonica design and your playing is amazing!
Rory, thank you for explaining the layout of your harmonica! That’s a very cool idea to find the most versatile chords and tongue blocking to get other ones. I just bought one of those big chord harmonicas and tongue blocking between chords gives you the chord extensions, too, except it’s 2 feet long vs a 12 hole chromatic. You’re a genius!!
Great talent and awesome chordomonica tuning, will see all your demos thanks for sharing.
truly amazing
Man these videos just satisfied so many of my curosities of all these instruments. Thanks so much!
I love this. Thank you for posting ❤❤❤
Wow! These are great sounding!
I was hoping to find a video with someone on the bass harmonica and who knew what he was doing. I'm glad I found your video.
Interesting and brilliantly demonstrated.Thank you.
You sound amazing! I didn’t know harmonica could sound so cool!
Amazing feel and skill of instruments!
i accidentally saw "bass harmonica" on a search for a harmonica and now i don't know what i dont know even more. what the hell other cooler things are there out there? im getting stupider!
Awesome! Thank you so much for sharing. I got into the bass harmonica because of its use on Pet Sounds.
Wow máster! You are a Genius! What you did to that harmónica they chordomonica was awesome!!
beautiful
verry jazzy chord.Fantastic,thank you
Excellent!!
Amazing!!!
Awesome
Tocas muy bonito. Gracias ☺️
The Bass Harmonica actually sounds close to a Contrabass Saxophone.
This is harmonica excellence. Manifested.
that bass harmonica is so cool
How fun. Love your music. Please produce and sell that chordmonica
Would like to hear you play the Sanford and son theme Rory
logged in just to give you a like. That was awesome.
You and your custom design are most impressive.
This is so cool!! chromatic harmonicas never did it for me, because of the chord structures. so maybe what I want is more of a chordomonica.
Thanks Rory, I had one of those with a button, lost it, way back when. No one believed me. BTW my fam. and I sure enjoyed you at Nash Palace,
You typically make any instrument look as easy to play as riding a bike, but seeing the amount of breath you were forced to draw for that bass harmonica exhausted me.😅 serious lung power
Nice vid man
I was at a wake for a friend's dad around 1990 or so in Virginia, and he had a couple of old gentlemen there (I'm 64 now, and they were older than that) of a country music persuasion, and one of them had a compendious harmonica the size of a hardback book (as wide as a healthy harmonica and about 2/3 as deep) that would play any major key with a switch or lever. He said it was made in the 1920s, and no more were available. I have one photo where he's playing it, but nothing that shows any detail at all. Looks like a featureless black box in it.
3:27 DORAEMON GOING UP THE HAPPY STAIRS AHOY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
this dude is a bad ass
Your Chordominca is awesome! Would love to hear any minor 9 on it. It sounds like a vocoder!
that bass harmonica be THICC, fantastic
I know both kinds of harmonicas only from special harmonica ensembles, that one plays bass, one chords and one the "normal" what also could be chromatic the way to have C-Major and C#-Major on the same instrument.
I couldn't get the moving parts down, but I tried designing a button chord harp.
This was amazing I would love to know who made your harmonicas from Germany maybe they would make me some
Your chordomonica is great! I found this type of harmonica just few days ago and was really impressed with your play on it. So I immediatelly ordered one chromatic in C-maj with 10 holes in order to re-make it in chordomonica. You have mentioned about tongue blocking. Is it possible to share what scale is in your chordomonica. Thanks!
Wow, that chordomonica sounded very accordionlike. I guess your mouth and lungs are serving as the squeezebox.
Can you please do a cover of Edgar Winter’s Frankenstein on harmonicas?
Hey Rory... great job as always. Hey listen... how do you go about having one of those chordomonicas built? Can you tell me more about what chords are accessible on it and point me towards how I might have one made?
Hi, can you share how the chords are layed out on the harmonica. I'd like to make one too.
The bass harmonica looks like a 3ds
2:45 WHAAAT I've never heard someone play a harmonica or chordomonica like that (I didn't know chordomonicas were a thing either, heh).
4:20 Please do a video of you following behind fat guys and playing their theme song.
Brilliant playing!!! Please tell me how you got to fix your bass harmonica to make it play so easy. Mine is almost impossible to play, difficult to get the reeds to vibrate especially on the lower notes. I would be very grateful if you have any advice.
It's almost impossible to say. Your comb might be warped, the reeds might need to be gapped closer, the leather windsavers, (if any) might be bad. Or it could be a technical problem on your performance; not sealing the harmonica well enough with your lips, not applying the correct amount or velocity of air...I just don't know. I have not had any work done on that particular Swan bass harmonica; though as I stated, it is more of a baritone harmonica than the big bass harmonica which is 2 harps hinged together, and with 2 reeds per note. The one I used in this video is only 1 reed per note, which is inherently easier to play.
@@roryhoffman485 Thanks, I'll check your suggestions and eliminate them one by one, there can't be much else that could cause the problem. I bought a second one thinking the first one was faulty but had the same problem with both. I'm thinking maybe start with the reed gap. Maybe its time to start learning about these things myself, but I'm just too afraid I'll damage it. Both my harmonicas are Swann like yours. Love your talent, keep playing!!
@@roryhoffman485 Awsome harmonica. The Keytar is basically a Keyboard played on the Shoulder like a Guitar via strap.
Rory love that bass harp to me it sounds close to a Baritone sax
Let's go to Chicago !
😊Ce model harmonica e ?
Dear Roy.. Thank you for your video.. Great work.. I want to know where I can get a chordarmonika.. I live in Germany and would visit these companies if you could share their names or addresses with me. Thanks very much.
So, was it a bass harmonica that they used for incidental music in Green Acres? It sounds like it might be.
yes.
Haha yeah, they were used in incident music in the 60s quite a lot.
interested in a bass pro harmonica to purchase
What company did you have make the chord harmonica?
What song are you playing at 3:05mins?
No song in particular, just improv. May be somewhat similar to the Gloria section on Angels we have heard on high...?But it wasn't intended to be any specific song.
This nimble tongue bringing in lots of lady viewers. ; )
You mean YOU xant c
grow back that mustache, my dude!
What's up with his eyes?
