      Shhhhhh don’t tell these guys. Real car guys know the 997 Turbo is probably the sweetest spot in the 911 range. Power / smaller size and ofcourse mezgah!!!!!

    The 991.1 GTS is the best place to park your $ in. This is the sweet spot of the 911. The performance, look, and reliability combination is impossible to beat. Look for the 2015 and you will have the most reliable car Porsche has made. I have done the research. Porsche mechanics say 2015 is the key year. Cheers!

      I agree. 2 years ago I sold my 981 GT4 to buy a one owner 2K mile 991.2 GT3 and I love it. That 4.0L engine combined with the brilliant pdk transmission is magic, and this coming from a life-long manual Porsche guy. I’ve looked a couple of times at a 992 GT3, but the size difference and styling (especially the black plastic nose vs the beautiful 991.2 nose) kept me from making a move. One more thing - I sold my GT4 to a friend and he did the complete transmission re-gearing of the car, and it’s a absolute game changer when you shorten the ridiculously tall gearing on all non-RS GT4’s.

    987 R, 997.2 GTS, 981 GTS (Boxster or Cayman but should have PTV, PSE, SC, PASM), 981 GT4, 981 Spyder, 991.1 base, 991.1 GTS, 991.2 GT3 Touring, 991.2 GT3 RS (reality any GT3 or GT3 RS is a fantastic option). Not a lot of love for the turbos, any of them or any of the turbocharged product inc. 992. Also few buy the cars for "tech" they buy for the experience and often the tech is either intrusive, poorly laid up or simply a PITA. 981/982/991 got it about right, likewise for the interiors.

      i think 996.2 manual turbo also is a fantastic and underrated option, it has good hp, mezger engine and the design look so well nowday. Maybe a lot of people don't like headlights, but in my opinion it look really cool, look like Venom's eyes or some symbiote or something like that.

    I’m a 991.2 owner, but I think the 997.2 will be far more collectible and has a higher propensity to hold or increase in value than a 991.1. The 991.1 may be the LAST NA Carrera, but it’s far from the best. The reason 993 values have skyrocketed is because it is the best AND the LAST of the aircooled Carrera. The best NA water cooled Carrera belongs to the 997.2. It has the best size, hydraulic steering, looks the part, and was the last true built Porsche before VAG got their fingers into it. I love the 991.1, but I don’t think it will hold value as well as the 997.2 but it is definitely easier to daily and own.

    997s are going up in value in continental Europe, South Africa, Asia and US according to sales numbers. People say it's gradually becoming the most classical, consensual (design wise), reliable, mechanical and still affordable (at the moment) 911. Some prefer gen 1, mostly due to the shape of the gen 2 tail lights and front air intakes.

I kept factory PCM added Apple Car Play, Focal limited edition speakers, Addison amplifier. Performance is usable. Besides if I want to go fast I own motorcycles. One is a 325hp Suzuki Hayabusa. Also 992's are way too big and too easy to drive...you won't have that much fun driving a 992 vs a 997 or 991.1 manual.

    • @punkarse100
      @punkarse100 2 дня назад +1

      Never driven a manual Porsche but read that so many drivers moan about the long gearing. In that case, surely you change gear a lot less so why is it so much more involving? I just drive my PDK in manual if I wanna change gear💁🏾‍♂️

    • @marky9117
      @marky9117 2 дня назад +3

      @
      If you’re a PDK guy you’ll probably be happy staying put then. If you haven’t bought a manual by now then it’s not for you and genuinely no offence here but, if I have to try and explain how matching the revs to the clutch and rowing on a manual stick is more involving than pulling on two paddles then I fear I’d be wasting my time.
      PDK is for shaving tenths off a lap on track and for folk who are too rough to smoothly operate a manual or too lazy to learn. Oh plus you get the pub bragging rights of a quicker 0-60 with PDK and that pointless launch control.
      When every driver, journalist and car guy worth their salt bangs on about manual gearboxes, maybe, just maybe, there’s something to it. 🤔
      I make my own mind up, but in the case of pure, analog drivers cars, then a manual gearbox is essential. I simply couldn’t imagine hitting a great stretch of twisty road and then just sitting with my foot planted, pulling on a flappy paddle. But there’s a bum for every seat and it sounds like you’ve found your ideal car. Enjoy. 👍🏻
      PS. Gear ratios have never been a problem. Can change as often or as little as you like. If it was an issue just fit a shorter final drive. Nothing in the scale of things but after 20+ years in six 911s from aircooled to GT products, I’ve never had a single issue with the ratios.

    • @punkarse100
      @punkarse100 2 дня назад

      @@marky9117 hahaha I lioe how you've assumed I can't drive a manual. Been driving for 30 years and before the Porsche I drove Subaru's and Evo's. Bloody hell, I still heel and toe in my work van every day for a laugh🤣.

    • @marky9117
      @marky9117 2 дня назад +2

      @@punkarse100
      That’s good to hear. 👍🏻
      I never assumed anything. You asked how a manual Porsche is more involving and I explained my take on it.
      You’ll know from heel n toe’ing your works van that enjoying a manual box doesn’t have to be just about speed. You can cruise in a high gear or use the box more if you feel like it. That’s why most people who buy 911s as weekend road cars want a manual. The involvement argument isn’t really up for debate as anyone who knows, already knows.
      PDK is great for track or great for sitting in traffic. But if I go out simply to enjoy the thrill of driving I enjoy a manual way more. But like I say there’s a Porsche for everyone and a bum for every seat. 😎
