This might just be the best Porsche drag race line-up of all time!
We’ve got Mat lining up in his Porsche 911 Turbo S, and he’s about to go head-to-head against one of the most expensive Porsches around - the 918 Spyder!
Naturally, the stats on both of these cars are absolutely insane! Starting with the 911 Turbo, it’s powered by a 3.8-litre twin-turbo flat-six which is good for 650hp and 800Nm of torque. It tips the scales at 1,640kg, and if you’re looking to pick one up, it’ll cost you around £169,000.
But trust us, that’s nothing compared to the 918 Spyder. If you’re looking to buy one of those now it’ll set you back at least £1,300,000! But that’s not all, it’s also up on power compared to the Turbo S! Its 4.6-litre naturally-aspirated V8 also comes with two electric motors, which combine to put down 887hp and 1,280Nm! It is slightly heavier though, weighing in at 1,675kg.

i mean it's Just 10 years..except for the smartphone, nothing change that fast🤷 Ferrari and Porsche dont even release a hypercar from the 918 and LaFerrari, and all the new car they based or use the same technology shown with this big projects. This Is how they still look modern..same for McLaren , all new Cars in term of design especially for the front are truly inspired by the P1.

well, compared to modern hypercars it's like 1,5 seconds slower to quarter mile..

I agree. But it does help Porsche stick to similar design in the blueprint so the 918 doesn’t look out of place even now 10 years on.

Every drag race should have a standard car golf GTi or something so you can see the real speed of these cars

He could measure the terminal speed. Many modern cars would be well past 200km/hr at the end of a 400m drag race.

Biggest difference IMO is you can daily the turbo S for a “fraction” of the price of the 918 and on normal roads, turbo S is a no brainer.. that being said the design and tech of the 918 is unparalleled. It’s a 918. Both beautiful works of machinery, well done.
You could do a lot of tuning with the difference of initial cost to make that 911 much lighter, much more powerful, and still have enough money left over to buy a decent house!

@@DiaperSNiFFER I meant overall length. The R35 was simply too big. A refreshed R34 widened by a couple inches is perfect IMO. But that’s the problem with the Japanese…they feel they have to revolutionize the vehicle versus the German’s evolution mentality (which I also prefer).
About brake test: in such cases, you can see how precise and consistent the dna is in different models of brands like Porsche. Fine details like this make the finest engineering work visible. Awesome stuff.
Two of my favorite cars from my favorite manufacturer.
However I've seen the 918 hit hi 9s quarter-mile on other shows and I've also seen Matt hit 10.1s inches 911 TURBO S.
But overall Matt did a great job on his usual checkups on half mile and 50mph stopping ability 👏
A lot closer than I would have thought, the even more impressive thing is you can comfortably use the 911 Turbo S as a daily.

Was never the huge 918 fan, always preferred the LAF and P1 but its incredible how good the 918 looks for a nearly 10 year old car. Still looks fresh now.

It totally amazes me how an almost 10yo car is able to outdo the mighty 911, knowing the 992 is so advanced and quick. It also blows my mind how we are getting used to this level of performance in relatively "normal" supercars, this used to be hypercar level not even a decade ago.
Welcome to the electric age. I mean its pretty insane that even at this level of performance and speed the 911 can still be outdone by quicker electric sedans and SUVs
911 has never been a supercar, it's always been around gtr & Corvette level sports cars.

Porsche engineering specifically. But even then there is something magic in that 911 Turbo S - it can hold its own against nearly any ICE or hybrid ICE. And is easily the fastest in its price range.

You’re supposed to go as soon as the arms move , not when they reach the bottom. So as soon as you see movement you go.Just like a racing tree . You go as soon as the light changes green .

I'll echo what I've always said about a 911 Turbo and it's contemporary competition. Miss it and it's gone. If it gets on boost before you react, not much will catch it up. What a legend. What a pair!

In my opinion the only two hypercars that look better than this are Agrea RS and P1. (Just in my opinion)

Not entirely true. The Shelby GT500 abd 992 would be close in a roll race. The Shelby GT500 even keeps up with the Lamborghini aventador like the 992 turbo S. We don't have a proper video on RUclips yet of the 992 turbo S and GT500 in a roll race. Hopefully that happens soon
People underestimate the GT500 because it's a Mustang and slightly heavier than average. The DCT in the Shelby GT500 is super quick. If the 992 turbo S keeps up and evenly match in a roll with the demon and the GT500 does the same, then they'll be close. No doubt the turbo S will win a drag race due to AWD and rear engine layout.
Need a traffic light system ( tree ) so everyone can go on green. Problem with mat is he makes the race about himself and his reactions by always trying to get the jump. But you’ve got to remember it’s a competition between the cars not the people who have a unfair disadvantage to the start

@@s.i_xo They did a race over a mile the P1 had to go over 200mph to get near the bike unless you have a Bugatti Chiron or a car of that type you’re not going to be to a bike in a straight line modern day superbikes have 200+Hp and a power to weight ratio of over 1000 per ton the only only thing I can think of that would even t Beating a bike is the aerial atom V-8 that thing has just as much Horsepower per ton then the bike so you can see what car you have to be have to get anywhere near a bike
