Today each of these are job generators for at a minimum of 100,000 employees directly or indirectly which means at least 500,000 mouths are feeding.

Absolutely wrong, India didnt invest in manufacturing in a large way so the potential is unknown. India produces more quality engineers than any country in the World, go check any sector any reputed company around the World you will find Indians working there. And there reputation of being honest and hardworking are very well known. India even exports young talents and labours around the World, so there are no shortages of either quality engineers or labour force. Today India has just started investing in manufacturing, so tomorrow we will compete with China, a day after we will will be at top.
We Indians were the richest nation of the World and we will reclaim that back.
You Europeans just sit back and talk crap, very soon all your colonial resources will end, then we'll see who talks more.
Stats currently will definitely favour China as you lazy Europeans gave away all manufacturing techs to China only sit back and enjoy, now when China is turning into a monster, you are still playing dirty politics makes me wonder if you are really sane!!!!

Tesla not coming to Bharat is probably good for both and even if he comes he will have to face a tough competition and might become another Ford.

Not sure if it really matters whether Tesla comes to India or not. Yes, there is lot of job at stake, however if they do have to do business here, they gotta adhere to the Government’s policies. Also, unsure if EV’s are the future.

I have great respect for Sri Jai Shankar Sir. But, somehow I am not convinced with his reply on Tesla issue.
After announcement of his India visit by Elon Musk, there has been continuous bombardment of negative reports by Global Times of China on poor road infrastructure of India and how Tesla cras are a misfit on Indian roads etc. By preventing Elon Musk from committing any Indian projects,China must be trying to have monopoly over Tesla Products manufacting outside of US. Once Tesla sets up shop in India, their Exports from China is going to be affected and hence China wants to ensure no compromise of their interests.
Mr. Jai Shankar being a seasoned diplomat may not like to comment on this issue publicly.

China may arm twist Tesla for now but the EV business is only a fraction of world auto sales. There is a lot of room to grow and India is a large market also. It is only a matter of time before Elon comes here else he will be overwhelmed by his competition. If we play it to our terms we can also win. The current set of technocrats will most likely ensure that.

Have you even read news of what happening at Tesla. They are firing thousands daily even in China. EV demand is falling. Elon Musk cannot sell cars in US with subsidy, how his business will even work? BYD makes EV for half-price now, no American company can compete. It’s better he didn’t come and hire people otherwise they would lose job immediately within month.

    2) Begging for oxygen tanks and donations during v|9 pandemic. PM Care Funds (beggar funds) were set up to beg for money WORLD WIDE
    3) Borrowing money from World Bank to build 110 million toilets for 600 million Indians (Swachh Bharat toilet mission) etc.
    4) India also happened to be the largest recipient of foreign aid since independence? Research "India largest recipient of foreign aid since independence?" 🤭

We are left far behind in manufacturing, because of Rahul Gandhi and Reghuram Rajan. WoW. Didn't think they could be so influential in this government. So I think in the cabinet, they are considering various proposals to develop India as a manufacturing hub for chips and Seminconductors. But then they are like " Hey , we can't do this because Rahul and Rajan will mock us, so we better sit on it😂😂

No but what the interviewee tried to insinuate is that China offers better incentives to Tesla to keep expanding there instead of diversifying into India. Jaishankar is so patriotic that he is afraid to admit India's anti-business backwardness. He wants to paint as rosy of a picture as possible yet Tesla is reluctant to invest billions of dollars because India remains inflexible.

The problem is that China is miles ahead of India in terms of infrastructure. Their cities are clean and beautiful. Yes, India has pockets of great infrastructure but also massive poverty and slums. When Westerners visit India they don't parachute drop into these pockets of developed areas. They drive through slums and poor infrastructure to reach these pockets of great infrastructure. So when they see our slums and poor roads and old buildings, it doesn't fill them with a lot of confidence in our ability to manage their investment in India. So until India doesn't significantly develop its poor infrastructure, the West will always prefer China over India.
