Fun fact: The Chewbacca costume that the late, great Peter Mayhew wore was not supposed to get wet in the garbage compactor scene. But it did, and considering the fact that the original suit was made of yak hair, It produced a pretty funky odor.

This is the 1997 version, which has a ton of CG. The original was simpler, and Han's first scene was different. I was lucky enough to see the orig in 1977, when I was 8. I also found a DVD pack with both versions. I only watch the original.
Go Google Project 4k for 2160p fan restorations of the first three films. 77, 80, 83. They are high quality scans and digital clean ups. You can then dump your DVDs. Thank me later. 😉
I was 7 when I saw this in 1977…. I need some help…. I vividly remember the original original run. On the Death Star when they swing across the bridge , Luke threw the rope and missed first. Then he reeled it back in and made it the second attempt. I don’t know why they cut this out. It showed Luke not being perfect. Does anyone else remember that?

@@ulfberht4431 Actually, both! 😁 I prefer the original version (for nostalgia), AND I don't care for the prequels or sequels. I accept that George Lucas would have used CG in 1977 if he had it. Ep III wasn't terrible. The last three sucked.

Rogue One is pretty good.
I saw this when I was 7 and I just sat there in awe after the opening sequence.Everyone including the actors thought it was just going to be a forgotten B movie for kids. But it completely blew everyone away and changed how movies were made in a lot of ways. The next one is even better.
Soon will come a fun but unofficial holiday here in the U.S. On 5/4, we call it Star Wars day as in May the Fourth be with you.
You should do a video interviewing Muskan! She's so funny and insightful. Would be nice to know more about her.

The whole "Episode IV New Hope" stuff is retroactive. In 1977 -- and for years after -- it was known simply as "Star Wars."

Did you notice chewbacca was the only living being not to get an award at the end?
@Theloudguysmovies It may have already been said but this is not the true original Star Wars Episode IV it's the enhanced special edition. They enhanced the coloring and digitally added additional scenes.
When Obi-Wan tells Darth Vader that if he strikes him down, he would become more powerful than even Vader could imagine. Once he dies, Obi-Wan Kenobi becomes part of the Living Force, which is why you hear Obi-Wan tell Luke to run and also while attacking the Death Star.

I was 4 years old when my parents took me to see Star Wars. It was my birthday. It had been a long day, and we ended up standing in line for over an hour to get into the theater. I fell asleep on my dad's lap before it started, and slept through the whole movie. Also, see The Empire Strikes Back as soon as possible. That's the good stuff...
Princess Leia was played by Carrie Fisher, she died next day her mother Debbie Reynolds dropped dead also.
It brings joy to my heart to see someone experiencing STAR WARS for the first time.

Nice movies... I would like to suggest you some for next one.. Try watching Anaconda 2 ( 2004 )
Fun. Only thing I would say, is don't explain so much and give do many hints. Let the young lady experience the movie as it unfolds. Part of the fun of watching a movie is making the connections yourself. 🤗 Love the channel.
Please Trilogy The Hobbit Extended Edition Of The Adventures Of Bilbo Baggin:

(2) The Desolation Of Smaug Extended Edition
(3) The Battle Five Armie Extended Edition
A shame the DVD lumps all subtitles together, even the ones for Greedo, who Han killed, and Jabba the Hutt.

Why don't you try this order, 4, 5, 1, 2, 3, 6? This way you watch the last movie LAST, and the story makes better sense that way.
It's best to watch ANDOR, Rogue ONE,1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9 and even better would be to watch the animated series THE CLONE WARS and REBELS and THE BAD BATCH mixed in with the movies in the order in which they appear chronologically. Then THE MANDALORIAN, BOOK of BOBA FETT and AHSOKA intermixed as well. There is a strong argument to watch them in order of release as well although I would still do it 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9
@@TERMICOBRA There is zero benefit to watching them in release order. That's the way I saw them because I had no choice. Why you would watch Episode 3 last instead of ROTJ makes absolutely NO sense at all.
@@B-a-t-m-a-n I saw them in theatrical release order because I grew up with them. That creates bias on their importance. When I remove that bias I conclude that it would be best to watch them chronologically. I wish I could have watched them that way. There is one drawback in that when a new viewer watches the original trilogy after Andor/Rogue One/Prequels they may seem dated. Another thing I recommend is to watch them with someone who knows the franchise and can answer questions as they're being watched but this person must be careful not to give away too much.
@@TERMICOBRA George Lucas says they ought to be watched chronologically, and maybe today, with any "spoilers" probably being mainly non-existent anymore, I would agree. But only IF they "already know." If they don't, I like the Machete order. I believe Andor and Rogue one could be seen in order, but it seems wrong to watch those right before ANH, even though the timeline says different. It's a storytelling technique Tarantino uses, and it can be quite effective.
Space Balls next.
Star Wars was released in May of 1977. Rocky was released in December of 1976. Star Wars obviously changed special effects and the genre forever. What gets lost is the steady cam was invented for Rocky. This is why you get the iconic run and you feel you are in the final fight. Before cameras were too big and heavy and had to be mounted on a dolly, vehicle, etc....
6 months between two movies that is the parent of the modern cinema.

No need to watch the prequels! (I saw them when they released, & finding them lame, & looking so artificial, thanks to the obvious green screens/bad CGI, I have to admit that I truly wish I had saved the time & money, & gone miniature golfing, instead! (Haven’t watched them since!🤮)
HOWEVER, “Rogue One” should definitely be on your list, after episode VI!

The sequels are watchable… Not perfect, but still better than 1-2 & 3! (Even episode VIII!) Whatever you decide, enjoy!

Whenever someone tells you not to watch a STAR WARS movie ignore them. People love different movies and you don't want to miss out on a major portion of the STAR WARS saga because of some else's perspective. As for you Mr. EPShockley I recommend you give the prequels another watch. A lot of people are going back to rewatch them and they find that they're better than they remember. I don't like the sequels but I would never tell someone not to watch them because they might love them or at least appreciate the additional story.
@@TERMICOBRA Your comments are valid. (Admittedly, I have said similar things about other flicks, but TBH… I HAVE tried watching Episode 1 again, & just couldn’t get through the first 15 minutes of it.🤮) But, yes! You are correct! Everyone should make up their own minds/opinions.
After episode 3, you should do Rogue One.
