Some of my favorite lyrics ever are “Dreams unwind, love’s a state of mind” I connect with that a lot. And I like the way it fades in the background towards the end. Fleetwood Mac is an amazing band and Stevie is an incredible song writer.
From what I can tell it's 'Dreams unwind, love's a state of mind' followed by 'dreams unwind, her love's a state of mind' and repeated in that fashion of every other line. I'm pretty new to the song but yeah it sounds like she adds in 'her', as I say, every other time.
Being of Welsh ancestory I have always loved this song. It captures a small part of Rhiannon. She is definitley my favorite part of Welsh folklore. She could ride a horse at a slow gait, but nobody could catch her. She had a bag that could never be filled. 😉
Lately her losing Pryderi has been haunting me. I love that the Welsh are unflinching in keeping their mythical women/Goddesses real in that they may not like their children or, being r*ped, or in Rhiannon's case, possibly losing their babies whether stolen or stillbirth. My brain wants to associate her losing Pryderi to stillbirth a lot lately, and I can't quite grasp why. Hope for my ancestors back in 1300s Wales when Pryderi comes back to her? I love this stuff so much!
Rhiannon is Welsh for Goddess of the Moon!💙🌕 Rhiannon, also known as Great Queen and White Witch, is an inspiring character in Celtic mythology, who possesses deep magic and can manifest her desires and dreams for the good of herself and others.🌛🌜🧿

When I was in South America in the summer of 1978 in my hotel room in Cali, Colombia, I could hear someone blaring this song really loud from about 2 blocks away. Made me feel right at home! Everyone appreciates great music no matter what language they speak!!
When I left Ill for Cali to head to the Pacific I had two new Cassettes tapes of the band, soon they wore out, in P.I. I found them for 50 cents each bootleg & they lasted longer than the so called good shit, just shows you good music is played around the world. She has & is & will always be a great singer, songwriter! I still listen & dream of the girls I miss even still today. As an old man I know to many have passed on to early!

Rhiannon is the Celtic Goddess of the Moon, fertility, rebirth, wisdom, magick, transformation, beauty, artistic inspiration, and is the patroness of poets, as well as the Divine Queen of the Fairies. She is reputed to be extremely beautiful and have a tremendous singing voice. She was born at the first Moonrise, and much of what we know about her comes from the Mabinogen, an ancient book of Welsh folklore. According to the Mabinogen, Rhiannon fell in love with a mortal and refused to marry one of her “own kind”, much to the distress of her family. The lucky guy was Prince Pwyll. They first met by Pwyll’s castle, at The Tors, a place reputed to be just above the entrance to the underworld, and was thought to cause enchantment and love. Pwyll immediately fell in love, and when Rhiannon rode by, he followed her. On and on they rode, Pwyll persuing her, however he could never bridge the distance between them, no matter how fast or long he rode. When he could ride no more, he called out to her in desperation and she stopped to wait for him, smiling to let him know all he had to do is ask for her.
The Mabinogi** Interestingly, the Welsh language doesn't have "e" in their alphabet, but then again, they don't have that better known -ion suffix either.
I visit my grandparents every Monday Wednesday and Friday so you could say I have a very close relationship w my grandfather. Since my father didn't always make the best decisions when I was younger my grandparents raised me and just yesterday I visited and he pulled me to the side and told me that he might have cancer, but he told me not be afraid cause he isn't and he's happy with what he's done and everything he is going to leave behind. And all day today ive been listening to songs that he would play when I was younger and when this song came up it just brought tears to my eyes and keep replaying the memories of us in my head. To those that have lost loved ones to the various types of cancer I send my condolences.
My favorite fleetwood song. So calming, so beautiful, one of my all time favorites. Some great lyrics and just personifies greatness. This was an era of beautiful music
To be completely fair: Rhiannon = what each of us perceive to be just outside the grasp of our attainability. Rhiannon is both real and fantasy for each and every single one of us.
This song gives me a full-sensory memory of a sultry summer day in Maine, the smell of pine trees and ferns in the air, lying in the back of Mom's station wagon as she drove down country roads to visit some really cool hippie friends, this song on the radio. Old hippie Mainers will remember WBLM, the station that was always on Mom's car radio.
I was 14 years old when this song was released in the early 70's. I vowed if I ever had a daughter, I would name her Rhiannon. In 1978, I had a beautiful baby girl and I named her Rhiannon Eve. She was a hard worker and she partied hard too...she also loved to travel the world and considered herself to be a REAL pirate! My gorgeous daughter died in a car crash, September 2014. She was 36 years old. So now she's sailing the seven seas, having adventures we can only dream about...I miss my Rhiannon so much...
Thanks so much for that Michelle and Stephanie...if you want to see some pics/vids of my gurl, send a friend request to her Fb account that I now administer. It's under Rhiannon Eve King (Rhiannon Eve Wilson-King) I so love sharing her life with anyone who's interested...and that helps us keep our memories alive too.
My grandpas war journal mentioned the newspapers that would get sent to him from my family about the protesters and the hatred that veterans were getting when they came home. He wasn't into partying, he was surviving in an unjust war where there were people in Peaceful America protesting a war they didn't have the balls to fight in. But he did, and he died last November due to complications of pneumonia caused by AIDS. He shared needles with 2 of his original platoon members after they returned from the war. Demonized by the media, and patronized by youth, Neill R. Benson turned to painkillers because people wanted to party instead of surviving.
Ceridwen is the Celtic Goddess of the Moon. Rhiannon is the Goddess of Fertility/Horses and also considered by Celtic Scholars to be based on a pre-Iron Age Goddess. I love that nameless Goddess runs through her.
I remember listening to this at 15 while doing the homework of a course I did, at longs hot orange evenings and the feeling I felt is something that I am not going to forget, it was like magic, like I was somewhere else. I'm feeling nostalgic right now as you can see lol
I'm glad I've watched "American Horror Story: Coven". Otherwise I'd probably never have known this beautiful song. Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks obviously weren't very popular in Europe. Neither of my parents know them or have ever listened to this song. My mother also like "Rhiannon" now. ^^
Well, obviously not in (then-communistic) Poland! My parents went to discos and listened radio very much. I let them listen to some of the songs of this group a few days ago. Later I asked my aunts and my uncle. Nothing. And I know that they remember a lot of oldies. Especially my father.

I called my daughter Rhiannon. Had the name picked out even before she was born and I knew she was a girl. Funny thing is......... Rhiannon is a typical Welsh name. It means Welsh goddess. My Rhiannon is half Welsh and was born on Halloween!!! And yes she is a lil witch!!! This song is just her, her personality to a t!! She loves all things dark and spooky as well and we've a black cat 🐈
That's awesome my name is Rhiannon and I love to show my friends this song and explain that it's how my mum chose my name. I love it when they look at me with amazement and go she's amazing💕😍
My names also Rhiannon and I’m a baby witch. I’m named after the Celtic goddess as my grandad was heavily welsh and wanted me to take on the name of a welsh goddess and with my family loving things like tarot cards and praying to Celtic gods he thought it only suiting
I don't know if it's just me or not. But everytime i listen to Fleetwood Mac or Ms. Stevie Nicks, I always connect with the goddess... or put simpler.. I connect with myself, on a level that I've never felt before. Just something about the energy they put into their music, it makes one reflect on themselves. ❤💛💚💙💜 blessed be 🌛🌕🌜

I'm glad my mom named me after this song, I love sharing the name of a song that is unique and has a special aura about it... that sounds kind of weird but I love my name...
Was so moved by this song when I was 8 years old and it came out as a hit on AM 89 WLS Chicago that I promised myself I would name my daughter, if I had one, after this song. In 1988, I had a daughter, and I named her Rhiannon.
+Captain Mana - when I was a sophomore in college one morning all these posters were stuck to the walls and doors advertising Fleetwood Mac coming to the fieldhouse on whatever date, didn't say what year. Didn't fool me any, a grad student had told me Fleetwood Mac had come to the u of M five years before.
+Captain Mana The funny thing about not knowing them is that they have the 8th-best-selling album of ALL TIME (Rumors). These guys were not obscure in their time, and as far as I'm concerned, their classic sound is a really timeless one. But damn if their internal drama didn't banish them to obscurity with only occasional escape (like the Clinton re-election campaign).
Any time I hear a Fleetwood Mac song, it takes me bak to when I was a toddler. My mom would play their Greatest Hits album nonstop. I grew to love their music and even got to go see them in concert with my mom. Thank you mother for instilling a love of such amazing music!!
My mom listened to the album they had out when i was in her womb... Feb '79 i was born. I have ALWAYS got chills and connected with and loved their music and then my mom told me that when i got older (: . but i connect more with the mystical aspect of it than she does
Also my mom played mellencamp , Graceland and the talking heads concert video over and over growing up 😄👍 we would dance to the first two and clean house to the last one 😄

Thank you! finally someone who knows who Rhiannon was in Welsh lore..my 1st name is davison(name is from the Scottish Highlands),we used to hear a bit about Gaelic pagan rites, very cool!
This song reminds me of the days when my dad would take me and my younger brother on a road trip to Notre Dame for the weekend and we would have such a fun time there. Then on the way back, we would leave the hotel and start our car ride back home on the highway during the quiet, dark, early morning. Songs like this song would play on the radio as we look out the window at all the farmland. I loved those moments.
To love a Rhiannon is melancholy. It’s a deep passion - desiring to own but never being allowed the pleasure. It’s the sadness of setting a beautiful butterfly free, but knowing that it’s freedom is what’s allowed it to blossom so wildly.
This was my dads favorites by Stevie.I grew up with him playing all these classic songs.I am really glad he did.I lost my dad 3 years ago to Fukin Cancer and I miss him so much.So much left unsaid and undone. 😭
The Mabinogi is a medieval Welsh story collection, starting with the story of Pwyll, the prince of Dyfed. After successfully helping Arawn, the king of the underworld, he returns home to see a beautiful woman atop a horse in a field, called Rhiannon. Pwyll's best horsemen could not catch up to Rhiannon no matter how much they tried, even though Rhiannon was riding at a trotting pace. Pwyll drove his horse to exhaustion trying to chase her, until he simply asked Rhiannon to slow down, and she did. Interestingly, Stevie Nicks didn't know about the Welsh legend of Pwyll and Rhiannon before writing this song, and was amazed to find that the lyrics he wrote fit perfectly to the Welsh legend.
how else are you suppose to find music? like you magically think of it then poof its there? so stfu music is timeless and anyone can find out about it whenever
Zoe Cullen Researching on your own, seeking where the given genre took its root from. If you like rock, for example, then you shouldn't limit yourself to what's been created and recorded now/recently. I think it's too shallow. Not saying that YOU do i it this way, but most people do. If music is timeless then what is this song the only old one that you probably know?

Some of my favorite lyrics ever are “Dreams unwind, love’s a state of mind” I connect with that a lot. And I like the way it fades in the background towards the end. Fleetwood Mac is an amazing band and Stevie is an incredible song writer.
I so agree with you I Love Me Some Stevie
From what I can tell it's 'Dreams unwind, love's a state of mind' followed by 'dreams unwind, her love's a state of mind' and repeated in that fashion of every other line. I'm pretty new to the song but yeah it sounds like she adds in 'her', as I say, every other time.

Yes that is an awesome song love lyrics too everything Stevie sings is great
I was named after this song I have those lyrics tattooed on my stomach

The part of me that comes from this line.... It's like being pulled away by a rope at the feet

When I was in South America in the summer of 1978 in my hotel room in Cali, Colombia, I could hear someone blaring this song really loud from about 2 blocks away. Made me feel right at home! Everyone appreciates great music no matter what language they speak!!

Interestingly, the Welsh language doesn't have "e" in their alphabet, but then again, they don't have that better known -ion suffix either.

Absolutely
What are you talking about? Rhianon is a welsh queen from the mabinogion lol
So now she's sailing the seven seas, having adventures we can only dream about...I miss my Rhiannon so much...
sorry for your loss
Heart breaking, sorry for your loss. I know she was beautiful and may her soul rest in peace.

Damn
The 70's. Best decade ever! If you were into having fun, and you weren't in Vietnam. This song is so mystical.
It was released exactly 45 years ago from today and this music never got old for me

Fleetwood Mac and Stevie Nicks obviously weren't very popular in Europe. Neither of my parents know them or have ever listened to this song.

actually they were very popular in europe, just because you and your parents never heard of them doesn't mean they weren't popular.
Well, obviously not in (then-communistic) Poland!
My parents went to discos and listened radio very much.
I let them listen to some of the songs of this group a few days ago.

My Rhiannon is half Welsh and was born on Halloween!!! And yes she is a lil witch!!! This song is just her, her personality to a t!! She loves all things dark and spooky as well and we've a black cat 🐈

I loved those moments.
that sounds like a dream
To love a Rhiannon is melancholy. It’s a deep passion - desiring to own but never being allowed the pleasure. It’s the sadness of setting a beautiful butterfly free, but knowing that it’s freedom is what’s allowed it to blossom so wildly.

She has described herself as the Welsh Witch. I guess that is no surprise...
Thank you for posting this!

If you like rock, for example, then you shouldn't limit yourself to what's been created and recorded now/recently. I think it's too shallow. Not saying that YOU do i it this way, but most people do.
