I miss Phyllis and still enjoy her peaceful southern voice. I have always placed my mixing bowls in my sink when using my electric mixer. Saves so much on cleanup.
Oh how I wish I could have met Phyllis!! I love all her videos. And I don’t cook. Lol. But anyway they help me relax and remind me of being a kid when my mom and grandmother would cook for me. This one had me laughing out loud. I watched her say “now, it seems people like to put whipping cream in coffee. There’s just two people here and I don’t drink coffee. So anyway...” 3 times. Too funny!!! God Speed Phyllis! So glad you made all these videos before going the heaven!! ✌️❤️😁
I have to try this recipe for yellow sheet 🎂 cake. Thank you Stephen for keeping your Mom's delicious recipes on Utube. Love you Stephen. Thank you Jesus for Phyllis Stokes🙏🙏🙌
Cake was delicious and pretty. I put a chocolate icing with pecans on top, because that's what my husband likes. THanks for the video! We got a big laugh about the "missing whipping cream". 😀😀😀
This looks incredible! Love watching your cooking/baking. You've truly been blessed with a wonderful gift of teaching. Though I LOVE good food, I'm not a great cook, and generally feel stressed out in the kitchen. Your voice, though, is so soothing and relaxing; I could listen to you all day! Thanks again for these videos. We appreciate them greatly!.
I am taking the time to go through Phyllis's recipes and capture them and I plan to print them to make my own book. This is a little time-consuming but I believe it will be well worth the effort.
Ms Phyllis, if it's God's will, please don't stop making these videos. I've really enjoyed watching and learning from you. Please know that I do appreciate your time and that there are folks watching these videos. I'm going through your catalog of videos and each one is better then the next. Your family is very blessed to have you. Oh, AND Mr. Bucky too!
Oooohhhhh Mrs. Phyllis!!!!! I made this cake tonight....I did it in two 9inch cake pans. I let it cool for a while. When I flipped it over on the wire rack just the tiniest stayed in the pan. Of course I took my finger and got it out to taste. This IS the MOISTEST, MOST DELICIOUS, buttery cake I have EVER had!!! I am going to top it off with homemade frosting. Thank you so much for sharing this. God bless you and Mr. Bucky. love The Randles💖💖💖💖
Honorable Women giving credit where credit is due to Aunt Marie. Thanx 2 U both. Looking forward 2 making it soon as I buy that pan. Love the size. I'll take 2 next Daughters of American Revolution event🌷
This recipe is super! I made it this past weekend for our mini family reunion. Even though the enhancing flavor is orange, the cake itself tasted a bit like homemade butterscotch krimpets! Yum! Everyone loved it! Next time, gonna cut the base cake recipe in half, using a 9x13 pan, spread a layer of peanut butter/confectioners sugar blend first, then top it with milk chocolate ganache that hardens a bit! Hoping for tastecake 'kandycake' results! Love ya Phyllis! :)
This cake presentation makes ones mouth water...I love the Orange juice/sugar blend spread before putting the main Orange buttercream icing on top..this could cheer up a sad day..thank you Phyllis.
That looks SO good right about now. I remember, as a little girl, my mom would put her mixing bowl and beaters in the freezer. I KNEW that something really good was on the way when we would spot those.
Hi Abbygirl, I'm not sure how hot the tip is but here goes. I generally cook four to six servings and sometimes more. We almost never eat left overs the next day. Everything gets frozen for later use. The only exception would be chicken and dumplings which we eat for every meal until they're gone. The deserts are always frozen as soon as they are cool enough to go in the freezer we just have one serving and that's it.Our children and grandchildren (eleven grandchildren) live far away. Phyllis
Hi Miss Phyliss ☺️ I finally got around to making this 🍊 cake this morning. It Is Wonderful!! The cake batter barely made it to the pan ... I had to Taste .. and OMYummy!! Thank you so kindly for this recipe. I wish I could share with All 😍! My Blessings. 🌹
I agree with another commenter! We need a cookbook from you! I'm gonna try this cake! I like the idea of putting on the simple orange syrup before icing. 😋😋 And I like the way you low key threw Mr. Bucky under the bus bout using that cream! 😂😂😂😂😂 I cracked up! Poor Mr. Bucky! 😄 I love cream, any kind, in my coffee too! Lolol!!! Cake looked great!! Can't wait....👍🏽😋
Phyllis, I added this one to my "favourites" in hopes of making it soon. It LOOKS so moist as you mentioned. Wish we could taste it as you are are tasting❤
Ms.Phyllis, your cake looks wonderful! The perfect balance of sweetness and richness. ..I love sheetcakes..they're always more moist and lighter in texture than tube or layer cakes...just my opinion over the years.
My granddaughter and I just made this with some of her neighborhood friends and it was delish! I had to hide 4 pieces for other grandkids. Thank you :-)
Like the recipe for sheet cake. Can't wait to try it when I have the occasion of needing a large cake. I do a Orange Creamsickle double layer cake using a white cake and orange frosting. Going to be making it Monday for a dinner party. I add orange extract to the cake batter to keep the cake white and give it a nice orange flavor. Going to try the glaze you did for the cake before you iced it with my recipe. Thanks!
Hi Miss Phyllis! 😊 I'm sold, and will be making soon. I know it will be Delightful! I can still taste your Wonderful Chocolate Coffee Cake in my mind. It was such a Big Hit! Thank you and I hope all is well with you! 🤗
Ohhhhh boy! This looks so good. I will be adding this to my menu for Sunday dinner. Thanks for all your cooking ideas I just love to spend time with you and yours is the first channel I hit for new ideas. Good thoughts sent to you my friend. :)
This cake looks so delicious! I want to make it so bad, but it looks hard to make. I don't have a mixer to whip the whites with. I can't afford all the kitchen gadgets that you have. Your such a wonderful cook. I've never even made a pie in my life. I'm kind of embarrassed of that. 😞
MMMMMM ... I love chocolate and orange together so I might have to make this and add some chocolate to the cake batter. I still buy the orange sherbet pushups at Walmart ... their Good Value brand ...have some in the fridge right now ... I think I'll have one! :P
Well that is a great idea.. we usually eat our leftovers.. but sometimes we give them to our needier neighbors! I use to buy some of my favorite fast foods like KFC and Taco Bell and then freeze them for a quick meal... like Taco Bell's burrito's, I put them in a pan and then cover them with enchilada sauce and cheese and bake. But these days its not really cost affective because prices have gone up! We have to drive a distance for fast food and gas is horrendous! My grandkids live faraway to!
Thank you Phillis for the nice recipe. I use only 2 cups of flour because the batter is so thicky that 3 cups its really too much and I don't know why. I appreciate all of your videos. Bye !
A picture says a thousand words, simple but yet decadent. It looks ultra moist and delicious. What if you don't drink milk what else can you substitute it with. Thanks in advance!
Hi Denise, Wish I could help you on this one but I don't know what could be substituted for the whipping cream since that's the very thing that makes the cake so moist.
omg. nervous about the butter flavor Phyllis. I recall being a new bride/cook in 60S when that came out and I hated it. but perhaps they have made it better. that was quite a while ago but I cant wait to try this recipe. LOVE to bake and Cook. love your channel so much!
susan ryman I felt the same way about the butter flavor back in the 60's - I hated it too. This recipe with the butter flavor works well but I rarely use it for anything else. It only slightly taste like butter in my opinion. Thank you for your kind words.
Well hello socialitebite sounds like you've got a good recipe for orange cake. Hope the glaze works on your cake. Thanks for watching and making a comment. Phyllis
Ms Phyllis if u love orange, I have a wonderful orange pound cake recipe for u, its so moist and delicious, it taste like a orange dream sickle ,jt has a glaze over it thats out of this world. I made it up myself, and I out done myself on this cake
Cake decorator's hint: If you pick up the pan , the sheet pan, and drop it down on the counter to pop the bubbles, it will come out perfectly level every time. *wink... I was a cake decorator for many years.
Hi Phyllis! In your free time, could you do a Strawberry Shortcake video if you haven't done one before? It is delicious done with a sheetcake as a base cut into squares, and topped with Redi Whip whipped cream in the can, and sliced strawberries. Very quick but decadent dessert :) I would love to see you do one. I know it would look and taste absolutely delicious! Your orange sheet cake looks wonderful! I must give it a try.
Phyllis, I am a relatively new fan. I grew up in Maryland, took home economics, and am 71 years old. I now live in Puebla, Mexico with my husband, four dogs, and six cats. We bought a Vitamix this month and are enjoying a healthy green smoothie every day, thanks to you. I want to make cakes but worry about our high altitude here, 7,000 feet above sea level. Do you have any tips to share about this sheet cake that would help me to have success? I'd appreciate it very much.
I wish I could help with the higher altitudes but I just don't know anything about baking at high altitudes. Maybe others reading your comment will offer some help.
LOve the video. I'm making this cake for church Sunday. I need clarification on the eggs. Extra large or large eggs. The recipe says large but I believe you said you used extra large. THanks!!
Hey you can cover your bowl with cling wrap slice a hole in the middle ir for the beaters! Works for me alot less messy when whipping a liquid into a cream lol
I was wandering that as well, it must make a big difference since she normally doesn't use artificial stuff so leaving it out must not be an option. It seems wrong to use it for a homemade cake. I'm sure she thought of using real butter instead so that must not work either. I was hoping she answered you, bummer. She is going through a lot right now. Praying for her to have a full recovery and have strength for her loss.
Hello Phyllis, Do you think this batter for the orange buttercream cake would bake well in a tube pan? What are your thoughts about that? I thank you for your response. L
I miss Phyllis and still enjoy her peaceful southern voice. I have always placed my mixing bowls in my sink when using my electric mixer. Saves so much on cleanup.

I love this type cake and orange is one of my favorites also. Thanks for this recipe and your time to show how you did it.

I think I will try with this with almond flavoring instead of butter flavor. And would also be great with coconut icing. Yum.
Thank you Phillis for the nice recipe. I use only 2 cups of flour because the batter is so thicky that 3 cups its really too much and I don't know why.

Love finding your mother again...grreat recipe. Been looking for a good yellow scratch cake

Very interesting about the glaze.

LOve the video. I'm making this cake for church Sunday. I need clarification on the eggs. Extra large or large eggs. The recipe says large but I believe you said you used extra large. THanks!!
I would use regular large eggs. I probably had extra large on hand when I made this cake.
Hey you can cover your bowl with cling wrap slice a hole in the middle ir for the beaters! Works for me alot less messy when whipping a liquid into a cream lol
Laura Fall can’t you use a deeper bowl?
What’s a substitute for imitation butter flavoring? Also if you could write out the information on the frosting that would be appreciated. Thanks
I was wandering that as well, it must make a big difference since she normally doesn't use artificial stuff so leaving it out must not be an option. It seems wrong to use it for a homemade cake. @@areyoukidding1431 sadly, she passed away 😞
Hello Phyllis, Do you think this batter for the orange buttercream cake would bake well in a tube pan? What are your thoughts about that? I thank you for your response. L
I think it would work in a large tube pan, you'd have to adjust the cook time to longer.
