Such a sweet lady! I miss her leaving new recipes. Thanks to her family for leaving these recipes on here for us to still use. We miss her, and I feel for her family who misses her much more. This holiday season will be really hard on you, but you can use her recipes and think of the lovely memories you have of this precious lady. These videos are a real legacy for you and her grandchildren. They will get to hear hers and Mr. Bucky"s voices forever. That is so great.
I'm so sad I only discovered her videos about a year before she passed, but now at least I can still come on you tube and watch and listen to her, she sounds like such a wonderful lady, so sad that she is not with us anymore, she will be missed. RIP sweet lady!
Crisco is Queen where I come from. I will use it as long as i bake. I did make this cake last Thanksgiving and it was delicious as promised. Again, thank you for your "very hard to find" knowledge. All of my elders are gone and now I'm that Aunt that cooks for the holidays and everyone expects the food to be perfect. You have really helped me out Sister Phyllis. God bless you and yours!
Phyllis i know u are passed but it like u are still here with us. I've been searching for a birthday recipe for german chocolate cake to nake for my ex. he lost his brother last year to pancreatic cancer. he's been devastated. ur speaking from above in ur u tube sending some love. im thinking of and Mr bucky. god, bless. ill treasure this recipe and memories of you.
My Mother always said, if you use chocolate to bake add leftover coffee, if you use miracle whip in salads, use a tad bit of sugar! She was a great cook coming up with great meals even if the cupboard was almost bare! She raised 9 of us kids!
Hi, Phyllis, I finally got it right. The German Chocolate Cake is wonderful. Moist, rich and wonderful, the coffee adds a special favor. I will make this again and again. I'm already planning my next bake. Thank you so much, you are my favorite.
Glad I came across your channel , didn’t know you and your husband are resting in peace in heaven. I enjoyed your calm and peaceful soothing voice as you showed us how to make those cakes. God bless your family..
@@robind8149 It was a long time ago, I don,t remember. I would have watched the cake starting at about 1/2 the recommended time and then tested the cake using a toothpick until it came out clean and dry. Enjoy, we got a lot of tasty recipes from Phyllis.
There needs to be a Love button!! :-) Sometimes I cut dessert recipes in half when I'm just cooking for me...I should have been cooking the whole cake and freeze part!! Phyllis always wakes me up with perfect tips!
I know this has to be delicious.. I love watching your videos even though you're in heaven now with Mr Bucky.. We love you both and you are very much missed..❤❤
Made this cake today for my granddaughter's preschool bake sale. I had previously made it in August for our Homecoming at church and everybody loved it. I'm sure this one will be a hit too. It is very moist.
Phyllis, I've been watching you now for several months. I love that you cook like I cook. Sometimes I wrap my hot cake in plastic wrap round and around and around. The top and bottom as well. Then wrap that in foil and freeze. Layers and bundt/angel food pan cakes. The moisture is kept inside and when you frost the layers frozen it makes it easier. If you wrap your cake be very careful as the cake is very tender while hot. Keep up the good work. God bless you and Mr. Bucky.
I made this cake this morning. My husband and I tasted a little tidbit and we both agreed it was delicious. I'm not going to put any frosting because I am a diabetic and the cake has enough sugar as it is. Time for a cup of coffee and a real piece of cake this time not just a tidbit. Thanks for making cooking look so easy and inspiring me to make some of your recipes. Wish Home-Ec was a requirement throughout my high school years, maybe I would be as talented as you are. I know my husband would have appreciated it. Keeping you in my prayers.
Phyllis, I really do enjoy watching you cook. Your actions are darling to me.. Keep up the good work my dear friend. Mr. Bucky is precious and I love watching him too. GOD bless you both.
Virginia...A friendly "Hello" from Ohio...I'm a fairly new subscriber, & I feel like i hit the "Jackpot" with discovering their videos...There's just something so soothing, endearing, and "real" about this lovely couple...
Phyllis, I have tried to check on you since Mr. Buckie’s death and your illness with no avail. Just want you to know how much we miss you and wish you well! Looking forward to your return. God speed! Carolyn in Mobile

Came across your channel just recently whilst looking for a recipe. I am working my way through your videos...you have lovely voice to listen to ....very calming. Thanks for your recipes...there are several I have to try... This chocolate cake is first on the list.
I like the looks of that batter. I use crisco in place of butter all the time. I feel crisco is still safer than animal fat ( like butter). I think if I try this recipe I will add butter flavored crisco along with butter. I' ll let you know how it works out!
Made this today. I halved the recipe for my family of 2. Delicious! Definitely a keeper recipe. So glad I can freeze for a slice anytime. Thanks for the tips.
Miss Phyllis I am up it's almost 1:00 in the morning looking at your videos and I am starving about this time looking at all these delicious cakes and desserts and these things that you're making. Looks delicious

This cake looks Delicious, Miss Phyllis. I LOVE WATCHING YOUR VIDEOS!!! I only wish that I am not a diabetic. I may try to make the smaller German Chocolate Pound Cake Recipe that is made in the loaf pan. LOL!!! Like that is any better for Me. Anyway, I have commented before on either another couple or few videos but This CAKE LOOKS LIKE IT IS THE "BOMB"!!! I love watching You, Miss Phyllis and Mr. Bucky also. I watched His video on how He became called Mr. Bucky. 😀 This old Northern Woman from South Dakota loves your videos. I'm going to try this recipe next time that We have a Family Get-Together so I don't kill myself eating too much of THAT YUMMY LOOKING CAKE!!! 😊👍🏼
I think I'd add the traditional German Choc 🎂 icing with the carmel coconut pecan topping. I think that would be great too, but your version look decadent also.
Hello Phyllis!! I made the German Chocolate Pound Cake on Sunday and it turned out really well. Thank you for sharing your recipes and passion for cooking!!!!!
Wow, I have never heard of a German Chocolate made into a pound cake, just one made into a cake! I am going to make this! Thank you very much for the recipe. Tell Mr Bucky he's a very lucky man to get to eat this! Lol
I so wish I was there to get a slice or 2 or 3 or 4 LOL of that yummy looking cake , which I'm sure it was delicious ... and I will be making it. I didn't know to cover to warm cake for more moist. Thanks so much for sharing that tip, will do that.
I've enjoyed ur recipes & videos so much ur deserts. Look so yummy & u put so much love in ur cooking could u try making a couple deserts for diabetics using stevia?
I tried the stevia and other sweeteners on the market, to be honest I just don't like them. You could probably adapt some of my recipes to make them useful for diabetics.
I go to your site and look back thru older videos that I have never seen....this is my "treat to me" after I have done something...like cleaned house, etc. This reminds me of a German Chocolate cake I made once...only because it is German Chocolate. I worked with a bunch of guys and I always made them a birthday cake and brought it to work for all to share. This one particular guy wanted a german chocolate cake...so I got a boxed cake and the icing. After a long day at work, I come home to make the cake....only to find that one of my two boys...maybe both, had opened the icing and had a couple of spoonfuls....no one owned up to anything tho...lol...I had some of the sweetened coconut and I had pecans...but I didn't know how to make that prepared, clear-looking icing that went on german chocolate cake.....I toasted the broken the pecans pieces in a 13x9x2 cake pan, and I then added the coconut on top to kind of toast it under the broiler. I then added my boxed cake mix on top of that. Then I made a cream cheese frosting and just dropped it by the spoonfuls into the batter and baked it per the box instructions. I told the guys at work it was upside down German Chocolate cake.....and they loved it !! Everyone wanted the recipe for it. Years later while looking through cookbooks, I begin to see this recipe for upside-down German Chocolate cake, more and more often !!! And only because my kids ate the frosting and I was too tired to go back to the store.....Try one sometime....it is actually very good and Mr. Bucky would probably like it if he likes fallen cakes.
