Remember everyone, you can enjoy something and find fun in it while also recognizing it as flawed. Opinions on a movie can be a little deeper than simply "good or bad".
@@ManHamOriginsquickly, activate the “it’s a movie about superheroes intended for children” shields! I wonder if you gave the same amount of “you’re not allowed to criticize it” to The Acolyte? Or is that the product that you’re allowed to dislike because the majority says so?
Nah, RDJ being a foundation as one character, and then facing the challenge of creating a new character on the opposite side is crazy feat to attempt to achieve. Let the man try and cook
@@mattrasp1615 Problem is that even RDJ can't save bad writing. If the script is shit, then there's nothing RDJ can do to salvage the movie unless its carried by comedy or just pure enjoyment regardless of plot like Deadpool.
I understand not wanting to spoil a new movie, but I think it made the entire discussion boring and pointless. If you feel like you can't discuss a movie properly, then maybe don't do it at all
For "Deadpool and Wolverine," There are plot points and character motivations that made no sense and a lot of nostalgia baiting for old millennials but it wasn't cynical. And that allowed me to just let the nostalgia and Ryan Reynolds' nonsense wash over me and have a good time.
@@justin9744he does. He's just diappointed that the movie has the TVA bs and they forgot the previous TVA bs they established in LOKI. Consistency is rule 1 for Mauler, because the whole point of getting paid to write a script for a franchise is to figure out how to build off the established stories. He's made that point, esp on this show bc Will is a writer
I love Maulers take. It's not like he is wrong. He is absolutely right about all of his points. His expectations are just very high and I honestly thought many of the same things that he did. I just switched it off so I could enjoy what is otherwise a very fun movie.
MauLer's deep, introspective evaluations of cinema are top notch. But like anything, that's a tool that has to be calibrated for what cinema it's warranted for. D&W did not advertise itself as the film he wanted. Listening to him wield his high standards on a film not sold as aspiring to them is like watching someone use a power drill to change an eyeglass stem screw.
Its a sequal to both the Deadpool and Wolverine movies. Its should be expected for it to hold up the same standard. I had assumed the marketing material did the same thing Deadpool movies always did, key jingling while keeping the story mostly to be experienced in the theater. This time the key jingling is just all there is.
"how useful can a few people in a pickup truck be to a town hit by a tornado" Literally lifesaving That exact thing happened a year ago when towns in Mississippi were hit and emergency services were an hour aaay, stormchasers/ streamers showed up in pickup trucks and saved lives
I think DP1 was the best of the bunch, and I'm not going to pretend that DP&W was Saving Private Ryan, but it did a good job being what it was supposed to be: an action-comedy "odd couple" movie about Jackman and Reynolds. Not all the jokes landed, but enough did to keep things fun and I laughed out loud more at this one than I thought I would. Fight choreography was solid, especially in the two big DP v W fights, and while the cameos COULD feel excessive or pointless at times, my wife absolutely adored them and I'm quite pleased that they got X-23 back and got a good performance with her. All in all, I'd say 8/10, good reason to return to theaters for the first time since Biden was installed.
Yea mauler and the crew take this stuff way too seriously and every single movie apparently has to be totally perfect or else it’s trash. Maulers opinions get old. Dude just hates everything.
@@justin9744 I disagree with Mauler about his take on the movie, but he likes a lot of stuff. Dead Space Remake, RE4 Remake, God of War Ragnarok, the Gentleman, House of the Dragon, etc etc
The most impressive things about Twisters: It has no story context connections whatsoever to Twister yet is repeatedly referred to as a sequel; it’s actually much more of a remake/reboot. It managed to disguise its messaging so well in plain sight that most people can’t see it right in front of them. The Girl Boss who is the key to everything and only needs to realize she’s as perfect as everyone already thinks she is, managing to kick all the ass once someone else’s mistake gets corrected and she can steal all the lead male’s equipment to accomplish her mission. Then the single throwaway line about how tornadoes have been steadily increasing in number and intensity without overtly discussing climate change. All these things jumped off the screen at me. I had fun with the movie but I’m just surprised how few people saw these things.
People say they enjoy a film , Mauler says he didn't , that's good for conversation but then they just become downbeat and talk like they also didn't like it , stand up for your own opinion. If you liked it stand by that. A small moan , love the open bar.
It wasn’t funny , the last scene was cringe , fight scene with the dead pools was so shit , the gen z slang constantly takes me out of the film , the gay TVA agent was god awful , cameos was alright but they just lean on nostalgia to take away from the fact the films not all that
Did nobody pay attention to why he was the worst wolverine. Spoilers ahead be warned. Drinker was right about what would make the worst wolverine. They seem to only remember the first half about how he wasn't there to save the X-Men but not the second part about how he went on a rampage killing tons of people many of which were innocent and turned the public sentiment against mutants destroying everything his friends worked for. He failed his friends and got them killed, then he failed them again by destroying their ideology and desecrating their memory. Like did nobody pay attention
@@juggernautheadcrush4161 I mean, how are you going to kill the Wolverine? He heals all damage and is invulnerable to any damage which he would be unable to heal quickly. As long as he's not causing any trouble, the best thing to do is leave him alone.
The movie points out that the multiverse is stupid. This is not a defense since the movie still multiverses. However, the movie was also pointless and didn’t try to push multiverse ANYTHING except for bringing Deadpool and Wolverine into the MCU, so I give it a pass there.
There’s a 5 minute RUclips video that reframes the Karate Kid movie to explain Daniel as the bully to Johnny, it’s very convincing. I believe it to be the real reason that Cobra Kai became a show.
If you think about it, Daniel did pour water on Johnny and his friends while they were just chilling smoking weed in the bathroom. Yes, they were mean to Daniel earlier but he decided to take petty revenge and antagonized Johnny and his friends and faced the consequences. Miyagi of course didn't know this, all he saw was a group of young guys beating up one guy in an unfair fight. Of course, Johnny and his friends tell Kreese their side of the story: Miyagi jumped them and beat the crap of them. Thus, the rivalry was born. Kreese understandably wanted to stand up for his students. Miyagi understandably stood up for Daniel who was outnumbered and bullied. Johnny understandably irritated at Daniel for being a little prick (he was) and Daniel was absolutely clueless how he escalated everything for petty revenge.
Mauler is correct and it's the way I feel about Picard Season 3. There are some serious screenplay and structural issues with Deadpool & Wolverine. It's barely a film and instead is a collection of set pieces. Ultimately, it was a fun, crowd pleasing rated R comedy. We don't get many of those anymore. For Deadpool and the style of film, even if most jokes miss, the ones that hit were great. At very least the film attempted to honor the comics and movies rather than dump on the fanbase and use that for rage bait clicks. Maybe in a few months everyone won't be so kind but for now, it's a nice diversion and decent send off to some of the Fox characters.
@@npwarr2651 I can't find anything to disagree with that sentiment. I'm not a huge fan of nihilistic, meta modern storytelling where there's no real stakes but it works for me in this case. MCU can play off both concepts as long as it's the right character and it's not overused. Star Wars is much more limited with what's currently possible. I have a soft spot for Sami Rami so Dr Strange 2, for me, was passable despite the story flaws. My issue was it required watching Wandavision to fully understand what was happening. No one should have to subscribe to an additional service to understand the full context of a movie. Maybe that aspect is better now on Disney+.
1:29:45 The objective was to stop the twister as opposed to create a model of a twister as it happened in the first movie. To see a 'No Holds Barred' Deadpool 3 would have been a sight to see; this film was effectively hobbled. At least it could have had a well written story that made sense in universe(s).
The antagonist was weak. They might as well have had an AI that was created in another timeline whose sole purpose is to manufacture paper clips. This AI (the New Paper Clipper) has already destroyed numerous timelines, leaving nothing but paper clips. Shenanigans ensue as the characters try many different ways to stop/end/destroy it ... or not.
Awesome discussion of Deadpool Wolverine; I actually kind of agree with ALL the takes on it, as they are all true. Still came away with a basic enjoyment of it, but yeah, it could have been so much more. And there is no universe where Roseanne is hotter than Madonna.
Some of these comments about the MCU in the context of the RDJ announcement will make for an entertaining bar next week! The level of Cluelessness from Marvel is simply alarming! And proves they do not care a single bit about what fans want.

Deadpool and Wolverine is one of those movies I can overlook a weak plot. It is definitely not the best movie ever or even great, but I had a ton of fun watching it with my Bro and Niece.

Talking about cinema reactions that you didn't expect (and this is going back a bit): I went to see Wrath of Khan when it came out; in those days you still occasionally got a "short" or, as with us, a bunch of cartoons. The people on the back row were very rowdy when the cartoons here playing, making me wonder if they were an actual Star Trek audience or had just come in out of the cold. I hoped they'd quieten down when the film started. Roll on 90 minutes or so and it's Spock's death scene. And all you can hear in the cinema is the quiet sobbing from the back row. People can surprise you.
I think the thing I fully didn't understand is HOW does Cassandra survive knives and shots hitting her? I get her being Telekinetic and even Telepathic as long as she has physical contact... but healing factor too?! Is Cassandra even an actual Marvel character or someone they just created for the movie? Serious question.
Cassandra Nova Xavier is what the Shi'ar call "Mummudrai", the spirit that is the equal and opposite of a person. She ended up being born as Professor Charles Xavier's sister, this was due to the amazing genetic potential of Charles, his Mummudrai was able to create a physical form, effectively a twin. According to Shi'ar myth, Mummudrai, also known as the anti-self,[1] are entities that each individual must fight before being born. The Mummudrai are residents of the Astral Plane and are born alongside every sentient creature.[7] Birth of Cassandra Nova One of the most influential Mummudrai in history was that of Professor Charles Xavier, which would come to be known as Cassandra Nova.
Finally watched twisters. The rodeo twister scene was not anywhere what i expected after hearing open bar on it. Tornados and storms able to produce them can indeed form out of nowhere when you dont expect them or think they will. And from touchdown to full size can take a long time or be done in mere seconds. There are plenty of examples in the states of this exact thing happening.
I’m just now understanding the story of Deadpool and Wolverine. Initially, I was confused why he was in the 616, and confused how he got from 616 to 10005. But the story literally is that Marvel bought him. So now he exists in the 616 or 10005 or any other place and time as Marvel needs him to be. It’s not time travel. It’s not the TVA. He didn’t use Cables watch or a temp pad. He was purchased. And everything left of his universe lives in his apartment. Insane. To be honest, I wanted to think Mauler was wrong on this one, but I don’t think he is. I feel kind of let down.
As a person earlier in the comments said “you can enjoy something and still recognise it has flaws”. It’s not a perfect movie and in my opinion the weakest out of whole trilogy, but it is more than enjoyable.
@@nataliabusko1432 I absolutely enjoyed it, it included nearly everything I’d want to see in a movie like it, except for a solid story. In some ways it is the worst of the 3, and in some ways it’s their best work so far. I’ve watched countless movies with worse stories. Disney making themselves canon inside their own fiction is just such a strange move to me.
I get why mauler doesnt like the movie, but honestly what was he expecting? This movie always promised to be the ultimate fan service movie and it achieved that while also giving a satisfying conclusion to many previous properties from Fox. 1 thing I do massively agree with is that we 100% need to get rid of the TVA. All that set up from Loki went to complete waste and Deadpool X Wolverine should have completely killed the entire TVA for fucking with the multiverse.
It was great... They ended Deadpools story within the first 2 movies. Him and cable were a better match up in my opinion. But this was just a excellent ending to a a very average movie franchise. Goodbye to Jackman and Reynolds. Now it also made it impossible for Disney to succesfully make their own X-men... They will make it awful with females Wolverine gay Iceman and Colossus and Storm and Jean grey will be the main characters 😂😂
I totally disagree, since the conclusion for every cameo was getting them horrifically killed or straight up cast aside and neglected after they kill a few goons. This is not satisfying nor is it respectful, whatever the intentions behind it.
Mauler is just a whiner that doesn’t like anything. If he dislikes a product then he has to nitpick EVERYTHING in order to justify his misguided hate. He’s a putz.
Venom 3 should have been a crossover with Andrew Garfield Spider-Man. They would both get a third movie, this Spidey works out his trauma and anger from losing Gwen, Venom gets someone to play off of (Venom is wayyyy better when playing off Spider-Man). Missed opportunity.

@@Death_MTL_Dude No, I did not forget it. They included it in this movie. It’s a bullet to the head of a Deadpool. 1. I'm not going to say that all jokes in D1, D2 and D&W landed perfectly, but many of the cringe jokes ARE SUPPOSED TO BE cringe. Because Deadpool is cringe. He's one of the most hated person in Marvel (by characters), not because his humour makes everyone laugh, but because it annoys everyone. 2. Hearing Mauler being lowkey proud of his "he will tear it down, even if, or especially when, others liked it" persona is unintentionally, but genuinely cringe.
I really strongly disagree with MauLer on his Deadpool take. Yes the plot was a mess, but the characters were absolutely not "assassinated". Also his idea of including Cable is awful, the Drinker was spot on that you can't have two straight men archetypes in this formula and MauLer's pitch for how cable and wolverine would interact was to literally give Wolverine the Luke treatment from TLJ. If they had actually went that route this movie would have been an abomination. I think MauLer and Echo are extremely good when it comes to plot, lore, and logical consistency but I think they both have awful radars for the tone of movies. Deadpool and Wolverine nailed the tone which rescued the movie from a nonsense plot. The Drinker essentially said as much in his review.
In general terms... if I Was Critical Drinker, in a World where everything movie tv streaming entertainment was THAT sh.t. And Drinking to cope. Id probably already had alcohol poisoning.
The story for twisters was written by Joseph Kosinski of Top Gun Maverick which was fast tracked in 2020.. I'm surprised none of these fellas can do minimal research lol.
I didn't watch Deadpool, but it sounds to me it's the textbook summer blockbuster: plenty of fun, but not a masterpiece, will be forgoten in a couple of months, but makes good profit. Won't save the MCU, won't save Disney, won't save Hollywood, but it's doing better to all of them that almost anything released in a long time.
Deadpool is a strange one to assess. I thought the comedy was great, the cameos perfect and the violence felt realistic for characters with powers like they have. So there’s enough there to make me think it was good. But the plot… makes no sense when u think about it. And that Wolverine cgi at the end was among the worst we’ve seen
I Actually thought it was hilarious and I love the music and the fight scenes and the cameos.... considering Disney's track record I thought was a big step up
I rather liked Cassandra Nova, she seemed like a bit of a nutjob with moments of lucidity, and it was obvious what her motivation was; rule the Void, even if that means making it the only reality in existence. Plus the TVA lied all the time, who’s to say there was only ever one void?
All entertainment competes with all other entertainment for your time, money, and attention. Mauler wants the minimum to be better, not for all art to achieve perfection.
Geeez. Wish people would stand by their initial views rather than just yield to MauLer’s take on everything. Happens on EFAP all the time at this point, too.
That's called a "convincing argument". Weird, I know, but there's this weird thing where if someone makes reasonable and justifiable points, it can change someone's mind on something they thought they understood. We live in some wild times for that sort of thing to be happening. Use to be everyone would gang up on the dissenter and throw out their thought out opinion rather than try to rationalize it or God forbid, agree with it. A genuine shame
Are they yielding to Mauler's take or are they able to admit that something flawed without letting it effect their enjoyment? You can like something and still acknowledge that it might not have been that good.
So you want people to never change their mind when provided with arguments that challenge their point of view? If the initial view/opinion can't withstand scrutiny then why should someone continue to hold that opinion and not amend it?
He's not wrong. As far as general film making goes, it was a bit messy. However, I wanted a Deadpool & Wolverine buddy cop movie, and that's what they gave me. So, happy camper here. Though I will say other than Johnny and X23, the cameos were pretty pointless and would rather have had more Deadpool & Wolverine plot. Though some of their joke were funny as hell.
Funny how they all went first and expressed enjoyment and said they really liked it. Then mauler did his shtick of hating something. Then they all started simply talking about what they disliked. Mauler has a few good points. And quite a few silly points on this one. Sometimes I agree with him, sometimes I don’t. I just find it funny how here, just like EFAP, it’s a massive circle jerk with almost no varying opinions on media. Even when Mauler likes something, everyone loves it too. Funny how he seems to always set the tempo….🤷🏻♂️
Taxi Driver - Right to make it reality because I think part of the point is how easily things could have gone either way. If he's just imagining it that point isn't driven home.

My take is that movie could have been better had Deadpool being captured by corrupted tva authorities who employ him as a "multiversal fixer" as a punishment for using cable's device and also get him under they thumb by threatening to destroy everyone in his universe (they could have also showed them getting Cable pushed back into his timeline and that way we justify not having Brolin anymore in the movie, lazy as that is tho) and Wade slowly coming up with a plan to either kill or get rid of the tva agents, and in one of his escapades, he finds a universe very similar to his, and finds Cassandra who is more than willing to "help" him in his mission. Also he has been using Logan (yes, OUR logan who we saw at the end of D2 in that gag scene) secretely as a partner in crime to gather enough people to fight the tva (they use some sort of techno bs so they dont get discovered by the tva) and it all ends in an epic fight recruting the cameos we saw, Blade, Laura, Elektra, Gambit, maybe Ghost Rider and Daredevil, and then they fight Cassandra but they dont kill her, instead they imprisoned her in an universe where the Fantastic 4 (yes, those) got her trapped in a special cell...but in a post credits scene, it is reveal that she was in talks with Galactus, opening the way for the new F4 movie
I'm so glad MauLer's always willing to take the hit on a movie when everyone else says they liked it, even though it's clear, as soon as he says there are problems, everyone else also noticed things they didn't enjoy and just didn't say so on the first round. The first thing Drinker says after MauLer breaks the ice on it is that he was BORED for part of the movie, to which everyone else agrees, and a much more interesting discussion of film is able to develop out of that.
@@Unit-kp8wm “But Mauler was being mean” Yes. Even if you’re correct about something, you’re not gonna convince anyone by being an obnoxious bundle of sticks about it.
I have to genuinely wonder how Mauler's stance led to a more interesting discussion when the others already gave mixed stances on it. None of them were singing high praises of it, in fact they were all critical of it to some extent in their initial stance- Mauler was just just straight "this is pure garbage with zero good to it" all the way. How is that a more interesting discussion? I prefer it when the panel can discuss the good and the bad, or at least theorize some kind of potential in the concept. It's hardly as interesting when the discussion becomes "how can we pick every single part of the film and complain to no end?"
@@TKDBoy1889 but they did talk about moments and sequences they liked. It just sounds like they had more nuanced opinions on the things they didn't like, and they all had different things they particularly didn't like, whereas they seemed largely unanimous on the things they did and generally didn't elaborate on those things (likely to avoid spoilers). There was much more discussion over why they didn't like particular things, and things they would have preferred to see. You can enjoy a film as vacuous fun, but it's hard to make much of a discussion out of that, especially when you don't want to be specific about particular jokes that did or didn't land. And it sounds very much like, outside of vacuous fun (whether that be jokes or action sequences) and pleasing cameos, this film doesn't have a lot to offer.
His review is a mushroom. A shit-take.
"how useful can a few people in a pickup truck be to a town hit by a tornado"
Literally lifesaving
That exact thing happened a year ago when towns in Mississippi were hit and emergency services were an hour aaay, stormchasers/ streamers showed up in pickup trucks and saved lives

The most impressive things about Twisters:
It has no story context connections whatsoever to Twister yet is repeatedly referred to as a sequel; it’s actually much more of a remake/reboot.

Fair enough but Deadpool 1-2 were complete films.
This was on par with Dr Strange 2, and Rise of Skywalker as far as plot.
@@npwarr2651 I can't find anything to disagree with that sentiment. I'm not a huge fan of nihilistic, meta modern storytelling where there's no real stakes but it works for me in this case.

I get her being Telekinetic and even Telepathic as long as she has physical contact... but healing factor too?! Is Cassandra even an actual Marvel character or someone they just created for the movie? Serious question.
She's a comic character that was created by Grant Morrison. You could say her powers would be if Xavier wasn't nerfed.
The Mummudrai are residents of the Astral Plane and are born alongside every sentient creature.[7]

One of the most influential Mummudrai in history was that of Professor Charles Xavier, which would come to be known as Cassandra Nova.

Damn, Mauler would probably hate Loaded Weapon I and Hot Shots Part Deux too
I really strongly disagree with MauLer on his Deadpool take.
The Drinker essentially said as much in his review.
yes , it could have be a potential 10/10 but quite happy with a solid 8.5 effort.
Pretty much. Its a movie you walk out of having had a fun time.
Rocky IV was awesome at the Old State Cinema in Grays, Essex back in the day!
I Actually thought it was hilarious and I love the music and the fight scenes and the cameos.... considering Disney's track record I thought was a big step up
The movie felt like you had a steak and decided to make hamburgers with it. Enjoyable enough but that’s what you decided to do??
@@lukegtothat's one tasty burger.
Listen, not everybody enjoys your raw ass steaks leaking blood all over the place. :P
True
I think they went overboard with wolverine being watered down, it gave me Jack sparrow part five vibes. 😅
Yeah, Jack definitely wasn't as good there. I don't think Wolverine was THAT bad, though.
I rather liked Cassandra Nova, she seemed like a bit of a nutjob with moments of lucidity, and it was obvious what her motivation was; rule the Void, even if that means making it the only reality in existence. Plus the TVA lied all the time, who’s to say there was only ever one void?
This panel had so many flavors of English. If only the panel included an Irishman, an American, and a Canadian.
Mauler, it’s ok. Not every movie needs to be Schindlers List or Citizen Kane.
All entertainment competes with all other entertainment for your time, money, and attention. Mauler wants the minimum to be better, not for all art to achieve perfection.
Wonder if you ran this “it’s not a masterpiece” defense for the Acolyte.
For Mauler there's two types of movies. Garbage, and The Prestige.

I just wanna see Tom Hardys Venom, Tobey and Andrews Spider man, hugh jackman and deadpool show up in Secret wars, thats all i want!
The Drinker is here!!!
Taxi Driver - Right to make it reality because I think part of the point is how easily things could have gone either way. If he's just imagining it that point isn't driven home.
Twister 3 : Twist Harder.
A Dust Devil identifies as a Tornado.
I got to watch Deadpool and Wolverine in a cinema bought out by my employer, no ads too. Probably wouldn't have watched it if i didn't get the ticket for free, but its enjoyable
I wonder how many people here saying "This movie was amazing and showed me characters I loved doing things I loved and is making a billion dollars and Mauler is an asshole!' felt the same way about Barbie.
Well those things are ok when it’s stuff they like. It’s only ok to make fun of stuff they don’t like.
@@ZenobianPrince No its more like its ok to make fun of stuff that cares more about ''the message'' then actually trying to be a good and fun movie.
Barbie was through and through a propaganda movie. Deadpool wasnt. Also in case of Barbie many commentators were afraid to actually give their full thoughts ''because im not a woman'' which is just a copout, and we need less of that in todays world, not more.
@@TiasungSo you don't actually care about the quality of films but only about whether or not a film with the message in it is bad so you can use that as another point in the culture war?
@@ThisisKyleThese people are really the same has the leftist they cry about.
DP always gave off mediocre vibes to me. The stories and villains are so forgettable. I don't remember any of the jokes. Truly pap
Yep
I think Deadpool 3 was a very flawed movie, but it was still very entertaining.
Excellent point

“But Mauler was being mean”
Yes.
And there's nothing wrong with admitting that and talking about things that could have been better or more interesting.
Mauler is the MCU equivalent of Lee Gunner. 😂
All these people who cheer when Mauler rips apart something they don’t like all of sudden start crying when he does it to “Muh Deadpool”. Mauler’s standards never change. He wants BETTER writing, not more pointless key jangling and “dumb fun”.
“Mauler’s standards never change”
Until it comes to stuff he himself likes
"Maulers standards never change" lol. Lmao even. Rofl if you would
