Tony Stark was the MCU's anchor being. He died, and it died with him, slowly withering over time. Their only desperate hope now is the same as Deadpool's: bring another RDJ character in Doom to try to re-establish him as an anchor being, just like drunk Logan.
Na, it was 2017 Logan cuz the fucks gave us M SHE U Godmother Captain Marvel nudged in between 2018 infinity war and 2019 end game instead of putting black widow in between the two... the Signs Were So Clear
I think a fix for the whole “anchor being” thing would be for it to a complete lie by Paradox but he used it as an excuse to get rid of the X-men universe because he got bored of monitoring it after Wolverine died, but wanted Deadpool to be safe because he was still interested in monitoring him. It still works as a meta joke and makes more sense unless I’m a huge idiot.
…that is genius. This would expand it from Deadpool racing to save his friends to Deadpool trying to save the Fox universe from being destroyed and thus forgotten. It’s a quest for the movie to make us remember what came before the MCU and not forget them, represented by Deadpool trying to save their universes from destruction by the TVA, the MCU loving organization representing Disney. There’s so much potential there. This movie is just SO close to being good. So many ideas that were ALMOST done well.
I actually really like that. Especially since it was clear everyone in his office had seen Logan die like a thousand times to the point of knowing all the lines. He’s a fan. Thats brilliant.
That's perfect. Even if you toss away the whole theme of "second chances" the movie thinks it has, it's just a far more air-tight alternative to this anchor nonsense.
Also it would play into the character of Paradox that this lie would suffice for Deadpool (even though this anchor being does not make sense) because he thinks Deadpool is an idiot.
Hey wolf, if you read the comments, please clip the part from 5:40:10 where mauler starts talking about Logan at the end. I think that speech is really good and I think more people should listen to it, which would be hard as people might not reach the end of the podcast

I remember an interview about Tony Gilroy's writing process for Andor and it sounds starkly different from how these productions are put together today. Basically, Gilroy started the pre-production of Andor by locking himself into a room, just researching Star Wars canon and mapping out the story for a whole season. Then when the pandemic hit, he took the opportunity to redraft the script again. When the Andor crew walked into production proper, everybody knew what to do without a doubt. No scrapbooking, no figuring things out as they go. It's no coincidence that Andor had the most surviving footage out of any of these Disney+ shows either from Marvel or Lucasfilm. That crew didn't have to throw away a lot of footage.
Oh Disney is 100% going to push the "right" fanservice (Ghost Rider, Toby Spider Man, etc.) and cameos hard in Secret Wars after seeing the success of this movie

@@citizen3000It's okay, every genre goes through a trend like this, we'll get through it. Remember horror movies, more specifically slashers? Hellraiser had some very enjoyable early entries, same for Halloween, even the bad ones were really fun. Then horror got really popular and successful, and every franchise that made a mark was bought out and milked for everything it was worth. Legacy characters got thrown away, the movies just become a series of lazily written gratuitously violent events (Almost like lazy cameos and fan service). Horror fell off, a bunch of people started hating on slasher flicks and the entire horror genre, and now years later you're seeing a bit of a resurgence in horror, suddenly it's gone from one of the worst genres to one of the best, most creative, artistically diverse genres for both amateur and expert filmmakers. There are still bad entries, definitely, but it's no longer miss after miss of lazy corporate toned down garbage, there's plenty of people in the field wanting to make good, original flicks. Granted, horror isn't the best example, it's a niche genre that has had a pattern of overall ups and downs over decades, buuuut I'm just saying that I think superhero movies will hopefully fall off, get sharted on, and then get brought back. So in terms of wolverine being the worst wolverine. I believe in the comics there was a ‘what if’ story where Logan accidentally kills all the X-Men. He’s brainwashed to thinking the Xavier mansion is being invaded by robots and kills all of them. When he comes to, he realizes he murdered all his friends. In his depression, he tries to kill himself by putting his head on a train track. For a second, I thought Disney was gonna go down that route, but there’s no way they have the balls for that sort of story.
Getting deceived into doing an action that makes you suicidal isn't something that would make you 'the worst' of anything. That's even worse than the actual film because at least this wolvy was cognizant of his actions and consequences.
@@-Azure.EXE- That's a good point. But they could have amended the Old Man Logan story to make it seem worse. Maybe Logan could sense that something was off with the mansion attack. His family died at his hands and the villains were able to take over the US thanks to the X-men being eliminated. A better premise would be that Wade quits merc/hero work because it endangers Vanessa, so he gets a boring job that he doesn't enjoy. Vanessa ends up getting pregnant and they're pleased but soon start worrying about how they'll pay for their kid. Wade decides that the best way to do this is to figure out a way into some parallel timelines, either by stealing Cable's tech or some other means, and doing merc work there so that it wouldn't endanger his family (and also because he enjoys it so much). The 2nd act low point could be the villain stealing Wade's method of timeline travel to strike at his family and use it for their nefarious purposes. Any of the people from his timeline could come with him to help with the merc work in the beginning, Cable might chase after Wade so that he doesn't use the timeline travel tech irresponsibly, and Wade might have to fight some of the heroes of the other timelines and/or ally with them in the third act when he's fighting the big bad guy. The OG Secret Wars (85-86) comic was not about a multi-verse. Various heroes and villains from the same main comics timeline were taken at random by an unknown being and sent to a foreign dimension/world to fight each other. The villains and heroes break into factions and its a great story. Secret Wars (2015-2016) on the other hand... alternate dimensions, universe, variants, the Thor Corps... I had no interest in a Pedro Pascal Reed Richards and I have equally no interest in RDJ coming back to be Doctor Doom. They should have found a tall menacing actor that could pull of Eastern European. The actor that was from Nip/Tuck that portrayed Doom in the early 2000s Fantastic Four is a more menacing looking Doom than RDJ.
Secret Wars II was more "Beyond fucks around and begs everyone to tell him what the meaning of life is." Also, comedy. Lots and LOTS of pointless comedy that pad out a pointless event comic.
I think you are talking about the most recent Secret Wars, not Secret Wars 2. lol Secret Wars 2 was a 1980s sequels to the first story and it was this being taking human form and being called The Beyonder. And he interacted with a few super-heroes in their own titles too cause he was this cosmic being who wanted to experience what it is to be a human. The recent Secret Wars I think there was a Battleworld as well but yea it was a new World that was all controled by Doom as Emperor. I think cosmic beings wanted to destroy the Multiverse and at the last minute Doom managed to get great powers and he saved two Universes, the 616 one and the Ultimate Universe and fused them together which he then controled. Story was completely pointless. I think the reason people are thinking about Multiverse for this one it's cause they think Disney may want to do a story with different Universes so they can pick and choose which versions of characters they want to keep. If they want a fresh young Chris Evans Cap, they can basically pull him out from any alternate realities. Make him fight current Falcon Cap and Evans would win. I think it may be what they want to do, have various versions of characters fighting each other. It's not a bad idea. I would love Ed Norton Hulk whiping the floor with Mark Ruffalo Hulk. Every losers in fights, they Universe would disappear. Sort of a mix of the first Secret Wars with people fighting but with real stakes of keeping their Universe.

There is a Secret Wars II that came out in 1985 and finished in 1986, later in 1986--9 issues that failed to deliver as the OG event did (it was very unpopular). The real Secret Wars II is "Secret Wars" a 2015-16 comic book story-line published by Marvel Comics. Something I noticed… no dismemberment (mostly)! Maybe they didn’t want the joke played out (with Deadpool losing limbs), but honestly that’s not good enough. There’s no way you fight Wolverine and not lose a limb if he’s trying to kill you. You could even have a Monty Python Black Knight scenario, but Wolverine has to carry him for a bit. Wouldn’t want DP out of the fight too long, and his healing isn’t that quick, but it should probably happen in the first fight up to the middle of the movie. You might have to move or get rid of the car scene. Or do one arm/one leg, both arms, or maybe a gaping hole in the middle so he’s still mobile. I mean, this movie stars _Wolverine_ the guy with _knives_ for hands. Dismemberment should happen often, and the reason it was off camera before was to keep the Fox movies from getting R ratings just because of Wolverine. But Deadpool is rated R and should be gory in line with the others (first movie you see inside 3 guys’ heads in the first scene). I think there’s just Sabretooth and Juggernaut, and that’s it, and you barely see anything (Juggernaut is a long distance shot). Heck, Logan’s opening scene was more gory than he was in this entire movie. Ya DP&W get _stabbed_ a bunch, but that’s it. No real visual representation of how bad it is other than blood packs. I don’t even think the suits got damaged at all (minus the end). This feels like a Disney move. Which is stupid because it’s already an R rated movie, so you gain no benefit by making it safer, because it’s nowhere safe enough for kids to watch anyway. Reminds me when they got rid of smoking in Gears of War (4 or Judgement) to tie in with some busybody campaign, when you’re slicing creatures in half with chainsaws and blood gushing out. You’re too far away from being “wholesome” for it to make a difference, so you shouldn’t even bother. And there’ll be few if any people who are fine with this much violence and blood but draw a line at dismemberment or gore.

My theory is that Nicepool was MCU Deadpool or if Marvel had Deadpool from the jump. The polished Armor, unscarred/unmasked face, and the camera turn with Deadpool responding "Bitch you think thats what I do"
My biggest issue with this movie is how it tries to tie Logan into the Deadpool universe, which both continuities can't coexist. In Logan, while the world is running normally, it's a post apocalyptic future for mutants as they're almost extinct, with the X-Men themselves being accidentally killed by Xavier's seizures. Xavier (played by Patrick Stewart) is also killed by Logan's clone. Yet, in Deadpool 2 (which takes place after Logan), not only are mutants thriving, but there's enough of them to make up a special prison designed specifically for them while the X-Men themselves are not only existing, but are somewhat looked at more positively in the media as bystanders are happy when they show up to contain Russell. Additionally, Xavier is alive and well, played by James McAvoy, and makes a brief appearance when Beast closes the door to the study hiding when Wade has his tangent for not having anymore X-Men around. But that's the problem with the Fox X-Men films: It has a severe continuity problem. Other than that, I enjoyed this film.
Majority of Fox Marvel films aren't supposed to be on a shared timeline. They went with the classical comic approach of loose connection and canon. You have Days of Future Past that crosses over between both X-Men timelines they had but Dark Phoenix also asserted that they're not the same canon. Logan and Deadpool 2 didn't exist in the same timeline but they both got caught up in the "Void" of Fox.
That stuff really doesn’t matter that much. Honest to god. It’s more important to make a better movie then worry about timeline stuff, if you get hung up about it and can’t enjoy the film because of it then you have autism
Maybe Deadpool will be so angry for being tricked into acting out of character by the Disney money that he will kill the MCU (or sacred timeline) and finally set us back on the right track to getting good movies.
Much like Starfield, the universe is broken to the point that I no longer care about future projects. The only difference is Starfield never had anything worthwhile in the first place.

The movie should've been about Deadpool getting a Wolverine who never joined the X-Men or a Wolverine that stayed in the Weapon X program and integrating him into his new X-Force team (Colossus, Shatterstar, NTWH, Yukio), which had been tasked to save their timeline by the TVA since the X-Men are no longer active in their universe, or something like that.
I can see it now. Mojo prattling on about the ratings he’ll get for having Blade and Gambit and Elektra etc in his new show and when Wolverine asks what the hell’s going on Mojo and Deadpool just turn and say “algorithms” really casually.
One of the stupidest things about this movie is how they treat the events of Logan as something that happened many years ago. Sure the movie got released in 2017 but the story of Logan takes place in 2029. Deadpool 3 takes place in 2024 in the same universe. The fact that Deadpool shows up at Wolverines grave proofs that he can time travel with that device. And he apparently decided to travel specifically to a time where Logan is dead as supposed to any other time before that. Also I guess by the end of the movie, the Fox Universe now has 2 Wolverines. And knowing what he now knows wouldnt Deadpool and Wolverine not at least try to prevent the events of Logan in which basically every X-Men die. I think our new Wolverine might have a problem with that.
@@twentyfour4998 that’s how time works. Going to the past doesn’t change what happened. You just create an alternate timeline. So that’s a nothing point
@@Djhiphop1000000000what?? Did you not understand his point? Deadpool could've traveled to an hour before Wolverine dies by his clone and saves him because he has a time traveling device. Do you really fucking think deadpool cares if he makes another timeline because of this?

Rags has the uncanny ability to make a third second talking point take five minutes. And no I don't mean in the EFAP way as we like. More like "Yeah...I like it. I think I do. I like it. You know...this is something I like. Yeah. Yeah. I like it."
Rags has an amazing ability of being the worst co-host since atleast 2020. He also has the ability to make the most unfunny jokes ever and stretches them out for way too long.
Eh. I interpreted as an unserious comedy that doesn't work as canon. (Not that there aren't heartfelt bits, but I used more Looney Toons logic than anything.) I want them to put effort into it, but I never really saw it as "the actual MCU", so much as a metaphor for Disney picking apart the carcass that is Fox's Marvel properties.
2:26:30 I feel that a lot of modern writers, teethed on a steady diet of "subversive storytelling", don't seem to get a very simple principle: you have to *earn* an anti-climax. An anti-climax (by it's very nature) is a downer, but it can be really interesting and memorable if it's used deliberately. Let's say you've played the tropes of your story very straight the whole time. The heroes have to face off against the big bad demon lord or whatever, with a time limit, and they know they are under-powered for the task, so they over-prepare. The demon lord's castle is inside a volcanic caldera, so the heroes put together this harebrained plan about exploiting portals to fill it up with water to limit the demon lord's fire powers, then get specialized artifacts to breathe and training to fight underwater, and put together elaborate tactics on what everyone's roles would be, only to put the plan into action, and instantly win, because it turns out the demon lord couldn't swim and he drowned before they even got to the castle. That's anti-climactic, but it's also extremely memorable, because it's both an unexpected and yet logical development that takes the characters aback as much as it does the audience, and to do that, the author has to maintain the illusion of "this is serious business" in order to pull the rug out of under everyone's feet at the last second. However, this kind of thing runs into the law of diminishing returns extremely fast, because the impact of such subversions is entirely dependent on the buildup and the audience's willingness to take it seriously and get invested. But then we have modern, multi-million dollar writing, where all of this goes out the window and it's just anti-climactic subversion after subversion after subversion, without any thought put into it, and this movie seems extra-guilty of it, because they can hand-wave it all away with "oh, it's just a meta-joke". Except, when done this way, the audience will stop feeling *anything* when they happen, because the writers condition them not to get invested in the characters and the plot, because they now expect that it's just going to be thrown out the window for a cheap anti-climax joke at any moment.
I can see you boys never heard a true cajun accent this is not the only variation of it but it is definitely one i have heard. I would say this more accurate especially since they described Gambit as having one the 90's cartoon had his accent dialed to just French when it should have been seasoned french fry. When i did spend some actual time in New Orleans this is the vanacular i ran into. Yeah you have to think French language basis but deviated by years of seperation similar Haitian or Portuguese only less time and forced to somewhat stick close to English.
Those closing statements from Mauler about Logan are in Watchmojo’s top 10 Mauler’s Maulologues. Definitely clip that along with Fringy’s additions too.
Oh yay! I'm so excited for the angry comments that will confidently say Mauler and company are wrong but then provide no counter arguments or references to support their point of view.
@@derekhatton7799 And I still haven't heard many good counter points imo. Especially when it comes to the problems with the writing. It's alright to enjoy something while recognizing it's flaws. I certainly enjoyed seeing Ryan and Hugh, I just wish they were in a better written movie. It feels to me like the MCU has been such shit lately that people are forgiving this movie's flaws because it has a lot of novelty and is more 'fun' than recent MCU entries.
Why would you have to manually activate the time ripper ? They have all the switchboards and shit in Deadpool’s universe wouldn’t they die if they activated it ?
One thing to add to the stupidity of Deadpool looking for Logan. He goes not only forward in time to when Logan is dead. But forward so far that his corpse is rotted away into a bare skeleton, in a place where the weather has heavy snowfall. So like, another 3 or so years I'd imagine later than logans death
@@snipersougo13 But he isn't tho. He finds Logan dead. My point is that he's on a time crunch, but travels into the future to grab Logan. But not only does he not grab an alive Logan, he travels so far into the future Logan is a rotted corpse.
From a movie perspective, I can totally understand why Mauler hates it. BUT: I had a lot of fun in the cinema, and I guess that is something at least. You definitively have to turn your brain off, but DP3 is one of those movies where I can do that.
Very opposite from my pov. Haven’t seen the second film and I remember feeling indifferent with the very first. That being said I felt nothing for this film. When I was told, “you shouldn’t go to a Deadpool movie with the story in mind, I clap back with the many emotionally manipulative scenes that informs me I should care otherwise… It’s great that people had fun, but when I see videos and people saying, “it’s making fun of the woke trash” I legitimately cringe and just reply with, “so they duped you and took your money”.
@@MancoDanko I was split. The member berry moments frustrated me. The marvel TV tie ins sucked because those series taint all they touch. That said, having read a fair amount of these characters comics, Ryan and Hugh do an amazing job at their characters. It was one of those moviea where it feels like you need too much outside material to fully enjoy it.
I mean. By this logic, Obi Wan and Ashoka meet the same standards as DP3. A movie where watching it once (and only once) because it will get worse with a second viewing is not high praise. Deadpool 3 could have been a brutal commentary on the MCU (like its preceding movies)… But why have those movies again, when the white bread “just stick Wolverine and cameos in it, and we don’t need to get anything right!” Works so much better? I wonder how many Deadpool movies it will take to wake up the audience? Will it be when we get something as terrible as “The Acolyte”?
3:40:00 i just thought, would it be better if they had said "he is the most useless wolverine." Rather than "the worst of the worst" because hearing that word, you think the most heinous, evil things he had done... he killed some good people too...Thats the worst wolverine? (I hope i explained it well, English isn't my first language)
I will eternally be grateful for this EFAP for vindicating my intense dislike of this film when I first saw it. Sometimes you just cant quite put a finger on why you feel a movie sucks, and sometimes that feeling is perfectly illuminated by a Longman rant.
@@xendependentlyminded5012 Sometimes people feel the certain way and they can't describe why. Conversation with people or listening to others talk about it, like in this case, might help some to understand why they feel how they feel.
Stupid question..maybe they mention it later..but..if Deadpool wants to dig up Wolverine thinking he is alive- he would be still there as an anchorbeing making the whole plot irrelevant ? So the idea that he is alive is totally idiotic.
@@wisecrackingcat6329 he’s thinking that Wolverine of his earth is still alive, regenerating but finds that he’s actually dead and what Paradox is saying isn’t bullshit. Also, the death of an Anchor Being is what kills a universe.
Regardless, I don't see how dragging some random man from another universe into this one fixes the fact that the anchor being of THIS universe is dead. Even if deadpool dragged infinite wolverines into this universe, I don't see how that fixes the issue of their universe's unique anchor dying after his last stand.
@@isplat927 Yes, I took it as Deadpool was in denial. Also, he never used that device to time travel, so since that wasn't shown in the movie, perhaps it merely travels different universes.
@@Alex_FaheyThink of it as an anchor hero, not anchor being. In order for Deadpool’s universe to survive, it needs a Wolverine. Which is a meta story point in and of itself in the sense that Disney/Marvel probably wouldn’t have allowed a Deadpool movie to happen if Hugh hadn’t decided to return as Wolverine. Essentially, without Hugh/Wolverine returning, Ryan/Deadpool would’ve “ceased to exist”.
@@Theendman42 I think he does time travel cause he supposedly does go to the grave of his Wolverine (Logan movie) which was in 2029 while Deadpool 3 takes place in 2024. Though those events are still a little screwy.
If this is the refuse dump from the MCU, how is there not millions of those things lying around here like the infinity stone desk ornaments? How is anyone able to be trapped here?
Now that we've got it confirmed what incompetent bunglers the TVA guards are and how easy it is to survive in the void, there's no way clans of Iron Men and Thanoses aren't running sections of it.
3:20:00 It could've been so easily explained by saying Juggernaut's helmet is as indestructible as he was or something! The writers could have at least tried...
I hate multiverse stuff, it simply deletes stakes because you can't care about every other universe, it's stupid and it should stop. Go back to small movies with smaller stakes, those work much better.
It would probably never happen but you need to do a efap on the 1997 film “The Castle”. A wonderful Australian movie that encapsulates family values and father’s love for his family and a “David v Goliath” battle against the government. A feel good story that would benefit many efap viewers and allow insight into authentic Australian culture.
Absolute classic made on a tiny budget that has so many quotable lines that have permeated into everyday life in Australia (“it’s the vibe” and “tell him he’s dreaming” being 2).
5:17:48 I don't think the phrase works in the MCU's multiverse. Surely everything in every timeline is "homegrown" because each timeline has a single origin point. I don't think any classifications work, since the next moment from when you have named a timeline it has variants. 617 has become 617A and 617B before you're done naming it.
At 1:55:14 rags (right?) switched from infinite to uncountable. For a math nerd they are not the same, some infinites are countable (such as integers) - others not (such as reals), and based on how the universes are named I assumed there was a countably infinite amount of Wolverines.
One of the most depressing things about this film that the only thing people can find meaning from in its content is purely meta. Anchor beings as an idea make no sense until you realize the audience is supposed to recognize that it symbolizes the meta importance of Hugh Jackman as Wolverine and that's it. Deadpool going to join the Avengers makes no sense until you realize that the audience is supposed to recognize that they wanted Deadpool in the MCU and that's it. Blade, Elektra, X-23, and Gambit "wanting an end to their stories" makes no sense until you realize that the audience is supposed to recognize that these characters come from forgotten movies and are getting a chance to leave their mark in the modern world of superhero movies. This movie cannot stand on its own without the crutches of a society-wide meta knowledge of these characters and universes. Deadpool 1 and 2 absolutely stand on their own as meaningful stories. Deadpool learning to accept himself and save lives works without MY knowledge of superhero movies of culture. Deadpool learning to love a found family works without MY knowledge of superhero movies and culture. Deadpool Logan, and this cast of characters getting second chances and "mattering" are both unsupported by the metanarrative AND the execution in the film, which is horribly embarrassing. I don't believe that Vanessa and Wade would break up in such a cringeworthy way. We only ever saw them passionately in love with each other and seeing the opposite here with actually no supporting evidence is insulting to the amazing relationship built in both Deadpool movies. I don't believe that the WORST WOLVERINE EVER would be a man who wasn't there when his friends were murdered. That's a sad and tragic Logan, sure. Not the worst one... ever? I can't believe that every character I loved from Deadpool 1 & 2 are either in one scene in the movie or completely erased from it. Sure, Cable is expensive because Josh Brolin. Ha ha. What about Russel or Domino or Colossus or Vanessa? Why does Disney not think these stories matter? Why is hiring expensive actors like Chris Evans what they think we need instead of solid story with characters who we were already invested in? Why is telling a stupid multiverse metanarrative clusterf*** what this movie HAD TO BE? I only watched Logan for the first time this year. In preparation for this film. Deadpool and Logan have more genuine passion in a single scene or even single line than this film had in its first script, second script, or third script that they went with before taping this movie together. Disney respects the Honda Odyssey more than they do the Fox Universe or the characters whose skin they're parading in front of an audience who is here to remember when people with passion made superhero movies.
I'm late to this but I just watched Logan and it genuinely hurts my heart to think Deadpool 3 is getting so much praise. I think it boils down to the simple fact that for some people, movies are nothing more than entertainment. They either don't, or can't feel it on a deeper level and so they don't appreciate when it's done right. Logan wasn't a perfect movie, but you could feel it on that deeper level, it was beautiful. I wish Hugh never came back for Deadpool 3... So disappointing...
If they actually remembered the chronology, Wade would’ve gone into the Fox universe in 2024 and Logan would’ve been alive and well hanging in the mansion. The happy ending of Days of Future Past literally takes place one year prior. It’s arguably the most peaceful, harmonious time period for the mutants. It would’ve made more sense logistically, it wouldn’t have fucked with the ending of Logan, AND it would’ve been THE Wolverine that we’ve known and loved for years
Thanks for all the critical analysis, gents. I did feel weird in some points of the movie but were pretty much distracted by D&W combo and the almost non-Disney Marvel levels of humor it got. I did enjoy the movie much, much, MUCH, better than anything they've put out post Endgame, though. Hopefully the trend improves.
I laughed, I smiled, I had a good time with my family. It's not a good story, it's not going to save the MCU, and I don't care about it's implications for the larger plot of phase 5, or whichever phase they're on now. Forgettable nonsense is Marvel's stock in trade now.
Did you watch Deadpool 1 & 2? Have you watched anything that was even decently edited? Have you seen anything comedic outside of Reddit? Because it is impossible to have a good time if you have ever seen anything outside of those parameters.
3:14:13 Channing Tatum sounds weird because he’s trying to do a Cajun accent, which is what someone from Louisiana sounds like, because that’s what Gambit is. Check Gambit in the ‘97 X-Men cartoon, he does it too. My Drill instructor in Basic was also Cajun and it was really hard to not laugh(would’ve gotten in deep shit) whenever he talked or yelled. 4:19:07 just for the sake of argument, Juggernaut isn’t a mutant. His invulnerability & strength comes from a mystical totem of the Juggernaut diety.
The only way this film would have worked to "save" the MCU would have been Deadpool kills the MCU for a hard reset. Eliminate the multiverse/tva/time travel nonsense and start over with a X-Men/F4 reboot. That could have worked if done well. We've skipped or squandered all the best comic stories and speed run straight to the death era of the comics.
@@mariobadia4553 I agree. I went to see it fully expecting to be disappointed because i wasn't that impressed by Deadpool 2. But it was a great experience.
The thing about the bullet scene in the first Deadpool is that it's arbitrary. He could just take a gun from the guys shooting at him that he kills, he just doesn't.
4:03:56 Each of them should have had a dedicated 1v1 with each of the heroes, even if they'd still lose. Also, Lady Deathstrike is in this dimension because she must have survived the adamantium pump in X2 (which was suggested but never got followed up on), and this film heavily emphasises the healing factors of Deadpool and Wolverine. Lady Deathstrike was proven to have basically an equal healing factor to wolverine, same with Sabretooth (who's head would have healed back together before falling off), so the fact that they just die was a colossal waste.
Yknow something crazy? Nobody ever talks about how UNFAIR reviews can be. It's like, Marvels sucked, AM3 sucked. But DP3 does the same things that are bad in those movies, and yet, it expects points for being self aware. And people give it points coz "It is just fun movie, it's unabashedly itself". Kinda makes me feel bad for the shit Marvel movies. Like, yall suck, but this movie is being put above you and it's very unfair. When, if you realise the TVA, Multiverse etc is dumb, you should be LOSING points for actively using it.
It's just the cycle of things. The second people start becoming aware of the qualities in writing and what's good/bad after being outright punched in the face with it, all it takes is the right kind of slop to make everyone forget those problems even exist with the things they like. At the end of the day, it's an entertainment medium first and foremost, and the average person will throw artistic merit and logic out of the window the second their emotional needs are satisfied and they're entertained.
It is all stupid. But the difference IS that Deadpool actually made it fun to watch and not annoying. The characters pretty much carry this movie and thats fine by me.
I am disappointed that so many people have said that the film is good when it's more of the same from Disney Marvel. This film was on the same level of safe edgy as The Boys Seasons 2-4, and had all the cameo shite from Multiverse of Madness. Yes, Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman and Daphne Keen are good actors, but they're working with literal dogshit.

5:40:07 - 5:53:57 What an excellent rant. Going over the meaningful nature of the Logan movie and the fox x-men, and explaining disney's rancid disrespect for all of it.
I only saw the film once and clearly didn’t give it the attention you guys did, so these are just questions I’m asking I’m not presenting them as counters to your points, so a) is it possible happy just thinks this is some crazy guy and thus isn’t taking his story overly serious and that’s why he doesn’t have much respect for his tale and deeds? and b) in the comics Deadpool is legitimately an insane person and thus that’s why he can say so many reality destructive things without it being taken too literally, is it possible their going for something like that?
a) yes, possible b) kinda, but thats missing nuance, he is not that insane. Deadpool is still a hero, even a weird one. That means putting his life on the line to save others. The major problems on this movie is twofold regarding deadpool a) His way of speaking is used by other people than himself on this movie b) His actions are contradicting what we understand to be his core values.
There's a lot of this movie that feels completely illegitimate, or at least inauthentic. Like, most of the plot revolves around story elements that are plainly transparent veils over the desires of the writers, What's with the "anchor being" concept? Well, they want to reference real world franchise continuity. Why is there an entire world of "discarded" human beings from old superhero movies? Well, the writers want to reference franchise continuity. Why does everyone (including Deadpool) talk about a universe as if it's really just a handful of characters they do/don't care about? Well, because that's how the writers see it. There is seemingly no further consideration, or sincere effort to create genuine fiction around these ideas.
Idk if I just misinterpreted this but I didn’t get the vibe that Vanessa left him because he wasn’t doing something that mattered, I though it was implied by the flashback scene that he had basically given up on himself and she was trying to work with him to get him out of his depression but he shut her out and that’s why they ended up splitting up more so then him not doing more with his powers.. I might be wrong but that was what i was getting from that scene
I thought that was quite obvious. Vanessa obviously isn't that shallow but Deadpool is seriously flawed and don't get what she is trying to tell him and misunderstands the problem. He might think it is because he can't live up to her standards when for her it is just about him having the will to go forward. She obviously loves him for who he is and not for his looks or his status as a hero. Which might be a bit hard to accept if you look like Wade and know you are a flawed person so instead he draws the wrong conclusions and messes up big.
@@Klickoryea that’s was my takeaway also I get criticism over her not being in the film as much but I do think what we got of her did do pretty good service to how their relationship evolved I can def see Deadpool feeling like he is even after being her back to life know that his ways were what got her killed in the first place. I felt like that was the heart of the whole film was him feeling he failed her and couldn’t live up to being enough for her and still wanting to save her and the time timeline of people who mean the most to him and getting out of that place of self doubt. But idk I wish they had people who enjoyed the film on to counter come of their arguments so we got some more fleshed out explaination on what did or didn’t work with this.
Great EFAP. This is what I miss, good old fashioned analysis without 20 ppl talking over each other. I can’t believe hugh jackman came back. He said he was done after Logan, saying that was a good end to his playing the part.
Jackman said he regretted saying that Logan was his last Wolverine film as soon as he saw DP1. He called Ryan Reynolds afterwards asking if they can make a Deadpool and Wolverine movie happen
I watched this live. Maybe at some point I'll come back and edit this with the timestamp when I find it. I wish that anyone who says that this group of people "just wants to hate things", would listen to mahler's rant at the end of his assessment of this plot. I'll admit, it could be said to be full of hatred and loathing and vitriol, but it is so evidently full of all of those things, due to a genuine love of, and respect for, what this monstrosity has been built upon. We've had so many years of heroic stories with these characters, many of us have grown to be emotionally invested in them, they were a form of parasocial relationships before those were a thing, it's something so many of us turn to for comfort. Seeing all of these properties either fllanderized, or filled with spite, or both has been upsetting, but almost all of that passion, is born of care, not malice.
That’s because these people are children, and actively WANT the wool over their eyes. When they get angry at people making cogent arguments, it’s not that they’re mad because they’re poor arguments spreading misinformation and tarnishing a good movie. It’s that they don’t want to become aware themselves that something isn’t “12/10 GOAT peak fire frfr”, and get angry back as a way to go “I’m covering my ears, blah blah blah”. Because a lot of people are brainless and just go along with what everyone else is saying/doing so they can have a bubble of “good vibes” and use that media be able to have something to talk about with people. Then discard it as soon as the next big mainstream thing becomes a hit.

@DevilMan88
You have completely missed my point.
Also it would play into the character of Paradox that this lie would suffice for Deadpool (even though this anchor being does not make sense) because he thinks Deadpool is an idiot.
that's actually pretty funny, I love it lol

I hate to break it to you fringy, but marvel has been scrapbooking their movies and tv shows for a while. Just shooting multiple scenes and film's and editing them together later to try and get the best test screening results. It's why their budgets are always so bloated
It's part of why their writing makes no sense and seems so amateur. They literally can't plan a simple plot from beginning to end.
I’ve spent like 15+ years or something waiting for reference culture to go away.

The fact that they didn’t show even a few seconds of wolverine vs hulk in this means they’re saving it for secret wars. Otherwise for a movie all about fan service teasing that fight but not showing it was the most baffling thing they did.
You'll just have to deal with a bunch of people saying, "I don't like superhero movies," because they'll put the entire genre in the same boat, and then you'll hear them say, "Oh that one was good... For a Superhero movie," followed by, "I like modern superhero movies," and then when modern superhero movies fail again they'll go back to Deadpool 1 and Iron Man and say, "I prefer the classic Superhero movies these days."

I fear that is what the Russo bros will be pulling from RDJ will become God Emperor Doom in yet another Disney Marvel Multiverse disaster.
OG Secret Wars was also the actual origin of Black Suit Spider-Man and Venom. I actually had those comics but didn't know what I had as a kid.

Didn't one of the throwaway deadpool variants lose his hands and get shown with little baby hands afterwards?
@@poopoo7705 I don’t recall, but even still that’s a total of… 3 across the whole movie. There was more in the other movies and I think Deadpool was the only one with weapons that could do it. Now we have Wolverine where his whole thing is slicing and he just doesn’t really do it.

I doubt he will, as he didn't sound passionate enough about this for it to warrant that, but we'll know for sure if the film continues to be referenced as well as background info on it or the writers name getting mentioned in the future.
Keep in mind that Logan takes place in 2029, whereas Deadpool 2 is 2018
Deadpool 2 happens a full decade before Logan does what are you talking about?
@@petery6432doesn't matter, logan says no mutants have been born for 25 years (meaning since 2004), which is clearly not the case in DP2

I'm asking this in the nicest way possible: Please add time stamps to these.

@@nick_ashley Phase 4 was horrendously bad outside of this film and NWH.
Is everyone here this shallow? Everyone loves this film man. You’re slobbering all over pseudo intellectuals. Try again bud💀
@Djhiphop1000000000 "everyone loves this film" is wrong, the movie is getting plenty criticism, but also who cares how many people like it? It''s gay and cringe. Many people like a lot of garbage all the time, doesn't mean it isn't garbage. You are gay.
I thought the whole "The worst Wolverine" thing was not refering to "the most evil or ruthless Wolverine" but rather "the Wolverine who was the biggest failure and most mediocre"
This falls apart (like everything else to do with this movie's plot) when considering that the TVA exists outside of time, so they would logically already know about his redemption at the end of this movie. But again, everything to do with the TVA is a complete fucking mind-numbing mess.
@@Squeeble00 The whole thing is beyond stupid any way you look at it, the Loki series fundamentally broke not even the MCU but all the other non-MCU Marvel films and series.
Every time they do anything to make some new rule for the multiverse things just get worse and worse, like do Anchor-Beings effect Incursions?
The major problems on this movie is twofold regarding deadpool a) His way of speaking is used by other people than himself on this movie b) His actions are contradicting what we understand to be his core values.
deadpool is a hero? Good joke@@tabull8180
Interesting perspective.
Great EFAP. This is what I miss, good old fashioned analysis without 20 ppl talking over each other.
I can’t believe hugh jackman came back. He said he was done after Logan, saying that was a good end to his playing the part.
Turns out he likes money. 😂
Probably needed the cash after the divorce
To be fair, who'd pass up an opportunity to work with Ryan Reynolds?
Jackman said he regretted saying that Logan was his last Wolverine film as soon as he saw DP1. He called Ryan Reynolds afterwards asking if they can make a Deadpool and Wolverine movie happen
@@Aquajoe2.0but Logan was after DP1 in theatres?
Holy shit blud, we ain't reading your yapfest.

5:53:05 defrostdrobot77: but Ryan Reynolds co-wrote the script?
5:53:45 joejoesoft: @defrotedrobot77 there were at least 5 credited writers on D&W
There were 5 and 2 uncredited from an earlier unused script before Jackman ever came on. Those 5 include the same writers of the previous movies (including Reynolds), the director, and Zeb Wells. From what I can gather, Zeb and Shaun were contributors, while the three that wrote the other films have talked in detail about writing it together and who came up with what. It's basically the same group.
Also in chat, TheHardys01: Does Reynolds deserve any scrutiny for the decisions made in this film???
