Great progress there Wally. If you’re going with the sleeper option you may want to consider how you can still drop the engine in case you ever need to. The cross member will slide forward but you will still need a way of getting a hoist/ crane into the sleeper to lower the engine. Once the engine/ trans combination has been lowered to the ground how do you move the truck over it. While it’s at your place you’ve got the gantry but anywhere else and it’s going to be a real pain in the butt. I’m certainly not trying to make things difficult but it’s easier to sort out now. Cheers mate, Stuart 🇦🇺

Great install on the engine. The redo of the mounts was a spot on after thought. Where the angle mounts onto the bottom of the frame, maybe add a few gussets onto each side. The forces from the weight of the engine will cause the tubing to flex the angle iron.

"No way, I'm not buying another project" either famous last words or the single greatest lie a man has ever told himself? 😂😂😂
Realistically if you need to take that engine crossmember out it's just one by and a zip wheel will have that off in minutes.
Shame you never took that far crossmember out before it would have saved you so much ballache when siting the engine, but hey it all worked out in the end.

The sleeper section could be hinged on one side of the chassis rail and flip up like a hood. That way it should give you access to most of the engine.
I’d also add 4 more lengths of that 1 inch pipe under the transmission cross member and drill through the bottom of the chassis and insert very long bolts. Than tack the top ones to the underside of the rail and the four tack to the crossmember. That way you could remove the crossmember but have the location pins on the top still there for alignment.

Tip: Measure the pinion angle on the yoke now and adjust the transmission spacers to match the drop on the transmission as it sits. It is easier to adjust the transmission angle with those heavy wall tubing pieces, than to mess with rear end leaf spring spacers and stuff.

How about a tilt box/bed? The stock water pump will move the coolant ok. Pontiac Fiero's have the stock pumps on the engine and a front mounted radiator with the supply and return pipes hid behind the rocker panels. That's about 16' of piping. You'll be ok with running aluminumized exhaust pipe.

I have a 1948 Ford COE. I’m going to hire a professional builder/welder build a tilt cab on mine. I’m a bit nervous about putting the engine that far back and throwing off the weight balance. I plan to use my truck as a pickup but to also pull a 40ft camper trailer. That much weight all on the rear end could cause an accident. Front wheels could hydroplane in a rainstorm or puddles. I realize Corvettes have mid-rear engines, but difference is, they were designed to handle that weight. Enjoying your Videos, just a little concerned with the weight distribution.
