    Although none of my aquariums exhibit any "green" water I decided to add the UVC Clarifier to a 406 on 100 gallon freshwater that is situated in a brightly lit room. Very easy install and this video helped with the timer functionality. The only suggestion I have is Fluval should consider a separate mounting bracket that the clarifier unit can attach to. This way when the clarifier reaches end of life, a replacement unit can simply attach to the wall/cabinet mount rather than using new screws or reusing the same screw holes which will weaken when unscrewing/rescrewing into them.

    I have been avoiding buying one of these as I wasn't sure how the timer worked or how you knew the clarifier was on. You have explained it extremely simply and although I have a Chinese made clarifier bought from Amazon for £25, I am not altogether happy with it so I will now consider buying one of these . Thanks!

    I installed the device and I it’s running on its day 3 set on continuously, but I see no progress at all. In fact, I cleaned the aquarium before I installed the device and now it seem like the water it’s cloudier instead. I checked the timer and the light it’s green, not red, but do you think the device could be broken, maybe? It doesn’t look like it to me, and the box was perfectly sealed when I bought it. My question: If I uninstall it, take the hoses off and turn it on, would I be able to see the blue light showing out of the holes where the hoses go? I wonder if the bulb it’s broken or defective.

    • @fluval
      @fluval  8 месяцев назад +1

      Hi there! It may take longer than a few days to notice a difference in the aquarium. If the light on the timer is green, the CCFL UVC bulb is in good working condition. If you uninstall the unit and turn it on with no hosing attached, in a dark room you will be able to see a faint purple glow!

    I purchased this and installed this morning. When I initially turned it on the light was green then turned red after about two minutes. I turned off the power and turned on again and the same thing happened with the light turning red after a couple minutes. I tried again and now the light is constantly green but I'm worried its going to break again. Is this normal on a new unit? I thought a red light means the bulb has expired.

    The problem with this design is the glass sleeve will gunk up over time and be less effective, and it can’t be maintained or cleaned , so it will probably reduce the function, if this was a replacement bulb and the glass sleeve could be cleaned I would purchase one 🤔

    • @fluval
      @fluval  3 года назад +4

      Hi Simon, thanks for your comment! The UVC Clarifier contains a smooth glass sleeve on the inside. Paired with the powerful UV light emitted by the unit, no algae or debris is able to form or stick to its inside walls. That said, the units effectiveness will not diminish over time due to waste/algae or debris build up and is completely maintenance free. Although non replaceable, the UVC Clarifier features a CCFL (Cold Cathode Fluorescent Light) bulb that runs cooler than traditional UVC bulbs to last up to 30,000 hours, running 24/7, which is three times longer than other UV sterilizers on the market. Hi there, Fluval is a trusted and reputable brand that certainly does not sell fake/scam products. If the operating status light on the timer is green, the UVC bulb is functioning normally. If it's red, the bulb has expired and the UVC Clarifier must be replaced. If you're still in doubt, you can disconnect the Clarifier from your filter and look inside - a faint purple hue will indicate the bulb is on and working.

      @@fluvalThanks for replying i appreciate it…. I always use ur products especially the 07 canister filters they are awesome… Just not sure on the uv as like I said I can plug that timer switch into other things and the green light comes on!!! I ran one on my 407 for about 3 weeks and the algae came back almost every 2 days!!! I plugged my ehiem reeflex back in to the filter and within hours my water cleared right up…
