    Great video!
    I have one of these, ordered soon after release. I really love it. My goldfish tank would start to cloud up at about 5-6 days after service.
    Now it’s still clear at two weeks!
    Before I was running dual AC70’s. I got the Fluval 307, and soon added the UVC. I still do water changes every week, but do filter maintenance about every other week. I may be able to go even longer between filter maintenance actually. Time saver!

    Looking forward to your biocenosis video. I've had one setup in my 75g Hap/Peacock tank with Fluval 407 for about 5 months now and have been seeing great results after initial 3 months of tank operation. In medium stocked tank, after 3rd month I was only seeing about 10ppm nitrate increase after 1 week. Been about a month since i've actually measured nitrates so I will have to see if it maintains closer to 0ppm Nitrate now over the past month. After seeing 10ppm max increase weekly, I've gone to biweekly 25% water changes where initially I was doing weekly.
    I made it from plastic ADA interconnecting plenum pieces you can buy on Amazon, and a modified skimmer connected to a Hygger dual sponge/media air lift filter which gives it a low turnover rate (~20 gph). Mix of Special Kitty cat litter and red flourite. Then a poly landscape fabric over that, as I have about 3" of Cichlid Sand above it and didn't want it to migrate down into the biocenosis media over time. Basically how Dr Kevin Novak recommended in one of his many videos on the subject.

    I went through a sterilizer era awhile ago. I tried the Green Machine and a filter that had a sterilizer built within it. Also the bare bulb. All had limitations of one sort or another. The bare UV light is the cheap route and does the same thing but can't be put where any of the light will shine on fish. I had it in the type of tank where the filter was hidden in the back area. For me, the sterilizer didn't eliminate any of my aquarium's type of algaes at all. I think it might only work for green water (?) algae that creates the fog in the entire tank.
    I think perhaps the sterilizer might mess with good bacteria but I don't remember if it does. I was disappointed in all of the types of sterilizers...none eliminated the algae I had. I've never tried to use the one you have in this video. Visually it isn't too big as some covered bulb type of sterilizer. Sounds like it also lasts a very long time

    interesting and great unboxing. I do like the design of this. Being in line is definitely the best way to utilize a uv filters in my opinion. I have a small green killing machine (a real small one -3 watt-it clips onto the overflow of an HOB) and use it a couple of days a month. I have had some good results with it. It is definitely something I'm glad I have on hand! I just don't think it's going to last a long time. It's also why I would consider investing in something like this.
    I too have learned not to throw my instructions too far anymore myself 💯🤣
    So far, I like the design of this and love that it has a built-in timer. I have been known to forget unplug or turn things off before 😢🤣
    It will be neat to see what kind of results you have with this unit!
    I'm looking forward to your projects coming up. Thanks for another great video I hope you and your family had a happy Halloween! I hope you have a very blessed weekend!! Thank you for sharing! 👍🌿🐟🌿💚

    I assume the bulb is not serviceable on purpose, due to risk of leaking if it opened. I assume the led timer goes out when the bulb stops working. It looks like the water makes 4 turns at 90 degrees in a very tight space. I’m wondering how noisy this is, and if it creates water noise.

      They are all the same . All germicidal UV use “Subtype C” of ultraviolet electromagnetic radiation; internal or external. There are 9 subtype of radiations in Ultraviolet spectrum. The wavelength of C subtype is about 100-280 nm. I nm is 1 meter divide by one billion or 0.000000001 meter. The shorter the wavelength, the stronger the electromagnetic radiation. It can alter the DNA.

    In the UV space, sterilizer and clarifier mean different things. I think you may be disappointed when you realize this isn't a sterilizer.

    • @fluval
      @fluval 3 года назад +6

      Hi! That's unfortunately not true at all. The Fluval UVC Clarifier is functionally the same as every other UVC Sterilizer on the market, except it lasts much longer and is more energy-efficient. Clarification and Sterilization are synonyms - they both refer to ultraviolet germicidal irradiation (UVGI), a disinfection method that uses short-wavelength ultraviolet (ultraviolet C or UV-C) light to kill or inactivate microorganisms by destroying nucleic acids and disrupting their DNA, leaving them unable to perform vital cellular functions.
