At 26??????? When you witness something like that, you get the feeling you just witnessed one of the wonders of the world. At 26 I was just out of my diapers....sort of speaking.... This musical excellence is what Einstein is to science. She is the measuring stick by which all other singers are measured. And look at the way she is build. Hollywood would turn her into super woman. Flying around side by side with superman.....Part from her vocal power maybe comes from the way she is built?
If you’re liking After Forever, I’d recommend you to listen to Decipher. It’s their second album and, to my very personal taste, the best they made. It’s one of the few albums of my entire life, that I like from track 1 to 11 (the other is “once” by Nightwish. Unsurprisingly the one where Ghost Love Score was recorded. A true jewel from track 1 to 11)!
Bas is such a great example of a roadie becoming a star. I remember being invited to their album presentation of this one. Hung out with the band quite often, but it took my bff's remark that when I told Sander I compared this to Dream Theater, a band he loved... that I actually kinda made his night. I didn't know Dreamflight is the song he was most proud of at the time.
Nightwish is her dream as well what she was wanting international fame as a female metal vocalist she was so happy and her parents so I don't care and I was a Nightwish/Epica fan already discovered both same year. I was 17 and it blew me away that music even existed like this how could anyone fuse two of my Favourite genres basically alwasy was Bach, Beethoven, and Mozart fan as well. Both similar in styling and the score always changing tempo to create different moods both were considered devil music at one time.
Sick like you said in the possitive way it is and was. Written by Joost van den Broek. Saw in retrospect an interview Floor and Joost did with FaceCulture promoting the (then) new album. This was Joosts favorite. After forever all these years it stands its ground.
Thanks for this reaction and analysis 😊👍 I'm not familiar with After Forever so I didn't know this song 😱 I think someone will have to react to it soon 😉
There is no live versions for Sins of Idealism, but it would be pog to see you listening to it. Also, I believe, there is a live version of Beautiful Emptiness from the same album (Invisible Circles). For me Invisible Circles is top notch Floor experience with all her versatility and theatre.
dude did u know that floor went into an deep depression a serious one after after forever stopped she still was in it then one day on a saturday the phone ring and yes it was nightwish annette stopped suddenly and they needed a stand in immediately so the next day she was on the plane and the day after she was on stage already she had to learn the whole setlist in 48 hours
Floor was more unpolished and does it so well at 21- 26 she was already becoming a heavy metal force to be reckoned with i like her better with all that experience and see how far her singing career took her
It's a small world after all: "On 19 August 2013, it was revealed that Gommans was engaged to be married to Amanda Somerville,[5] and the pair were married in July 2014.[6] On 8 January 2015, she announced that she and Sander Gommans were expecting their first child.[7] In July 2015, their daughter, Lana Elise Gommans, was born. In 2018, their twin daughters Anya and Juliet were born.[8]"
I wonder how much of the, shall we call it a redirection of energy? How much of that is saving it for the voice and how much of it is, well, kinda getting older? You can notice this also in the difference in Anneke's performance at I think it was the '97 PinkPop festival with The Gathering vs the same songs done fairly recently with VUUR. So is it just, "I'm not a kid anymore, I don't want to go nuts early on so I'm not worn out at the end of the set" or is it "I'm not a kid anymore, time to act more grown up "
When you get older, you learn more and more what it is all about, and you learn not to spend your energy at the wrong moments, but save it to have more left at the moment you need it, and get more result... You get wiser, that is (and this not only goes for singing...).
I'm not one of those people who likes every song of an artist they truly like. The operatic parts are great, but the rest of this song doesn't give me any good vibes. This is my first listen to an After Forever song. I've only listen to the song Disdain from Revamp also. I thought that one was really cool. I just discovered Nightwish with Floor 2.5 years ago, and it's amazing all her body movements and facial expressions she does with them is the same as she did with ReVamp and After Forever in her early years.
@@hamohamo8270 Please that is realy not correct information. You forget Sander Gommans and Joost van den Broek. Floor mostly did the lyrics. Listen to the interviews back in the days, still on RUclips. All in great respect Hamo Hamo.

I’m not really into the music she did in her previous band, to be honest. But I appreciate the vocal talent that she brought, and I think she brought out more of the different colors she had in her voice back then. But she definitely overall fares better under Nightwish.

Tuomas around this time: "when will After Forever stop because we need her, she's mine".
I was at this show! This was my introduction to the goddess herself. I walked away stunned!
Not knowing how lucky you were!!!
Lucky
After forever was really amazing band, with amazing music and songs.
Definitely in the same league as Nightwish back then!
yep now she has an amazin composer After Forever never stopped either she still making albums no
Sander Gommans is the growler, not Mark. Mark left After Forever around 2002.

Fun fact about After Forever, opened for Nightwish on a number of tours.

Well, we all grow up.... hopefully. She was brilliant then, & brilliant now, having finally sang us the phonebook beautifully, LOL!

That's the same Joost that did some stuff with Ayreon, right?
@@yvonnekremers4354 Yes the same.
After Forever (Revamp) - Nightwish = before - after a burn-out. More carefree and energetic singing before. More mature after.
Floor Jansen ,... Swiss army knife of voice !!!!
Nuff Said .
Oh God this woman.... How can she just keep surprising you.
I am not sure anyone has the right to sound this good at 26...
I'm a little sad Bas didn't sing more, he has such a great voice and sound too. AF was brilliant.
" Intrinsic" live at the Bibelot by After Forever
So this was 15 years ago when only 25/26 and already such control. WOW And sooo like Epica with contrasting vocals.
I didn't know this song, thanks for reacting :). I thought I knew most of Floor's earlier material, but I was wrong :D

Great stuff. I have a few AF CD's that are still in rotation. I actually prefer this to Nightwish.

He's not Mark. His name is Sander Gommas, Floor's ex-boyfriend. Haha

And Floor is the vocalist of scrutiny....?
Bro, what have you been smoking....?
Floor has always been good she just gets better, but this band not bad potential and didn't she write a lot of the music for this group
Floor wrote songs co-wrote with Mark, then Mark left in 2002, Floor became the only composer in the group.
