totally agree. I discover it now but What a suspense ! Finding a murderer without the police finding he takes the identity of somebody else... not a second is boring.
Thank you so for rendering this in its original aspect ratio! Rendering 4:3 into 16:9, as is so often done with vintage films like this, is an act of desecration rather than preservation and makes them headache-inducing and unwatchable.

Interesting how they made changes to both the pulp and radio versions of the character. Also, why they changed the name to Granston. Thanks for showing this.
Just before the end of the film, and immediately after we see the batch of newspapers identifying him in print as Granston, the name is spoken aloud. The pronunciation couldn't be more clear - "Cranston"!

Hi Helen the shadow strikes good film who knows what evil looks in the hearts of men the shadow knows. Even better is the shadow serial. A chapter by chapter serial. Really captures the essence of the pulp fiction magazine they used to have. In the shadow was on the radio programs too you can get them on RUclips easily the radio ones are actually the best versions of The Shadow they're better than the movies even. Well anyway have a happy weekend and a happy Sunday Helen God bless.

Back in the 60s and 80s both Archie and DC comics had "the shadow", you might be able to locate a copy at a comic book shop. Also old radio shows of the shadow on record/audio tape and on...youtube!
The shadow strikes is good but the shadow serial is even better it seems more like the pulp fiction novel check it out it's a chapter by chapter serial it's in public domain
@@amk8411 I liked the Alex Baldwin version I saw that in the movie theater that's pretty much seemed like the old pulp fiction magazine style I enjoyed that movie I haven't seen it since I saw it in the movie theater on second thought I think I did rent it on video one time I would like to see that show up on RUclips here. So I could see it again but yes that was a very good movie.
ooh! i am familiar with the radio show, but i didn't know there was a movie! (.."The Shadow knows"..) Cool :v and a good one for times like these, i reckon. Cheers! 📻🎙️🕵️🎬🎥🎞️
Was excited for this because i grew up with the radio serials, but why tf make a movie about the shadow if you erase the powers that are the entire reason for him being The Shadow?
The Victor Jory serials were much better. Never heard of this movie version. And the Shadow's real identity was never known to the public. His mind clouding was his real power And only the radio audience knew he was Cranston. The serials and Orson Welles' radio shows made this very clear.
It's either feast or famine with things like that. You've had no Henry's. But the widow next door has had 8 of them in a row. I heard it from #8, aka Henry the Eighth - he got married to that same widow next door, and she'd been married 7 times before. And every one was an Henry! She wouldn't have a Willy or a Sam. This guy was her eighth old man, and he was a Henry, making him Henry the Eighth. Anyway. In this case, when it rains it pours. Ya know?
Check out the old radio programs of the Shadow they are the best hard to top them check out the serial movie version of it chapter by chapter great and they got several other Shadow movies in the public domain all of the things I said are in the public domain that I mentioned on RUclips

So many films today cannot begin to touch this era of films

Man, I do love original cinema.
"Who knows what evil lurks in the heart of man, the Shadow do."
These last few months i have been collecting the books from the shadow and now i get to see one of his movies.

Here it is...probably first superheroes film in existance
Not when The Mark of Zorro exists

lucky me, this is my first taste, I have al the rest to search for.
Very amusing. I liked it, but the storyline has so many holes.
I didn't know about this version. My first shadow movie was the Alec Baldwin version in the 90s
This one is much better than the Alex Baldwin version. Less cheesy
There were 2 serials starring Victor Jory before this.
Brilliant entertainment
I watched a movie last night called the Shadow, and in that movie he was a Bad guy.
maybe they are brothers, kinda like Cain and Abel.
Wish I had a "Henry".

It's 33 minutes in before The Shadow is even mentioned. Very strange and very disappointing.
Victor jory...is the shadow.
How did Winstead get in that chair in just two seconds before he died?
Editing! Heh heh.

Lamont 'Granston'?

Man that was weak! Lol!!!

Floyd the barber
Wasn't Lamont Cranston a "closeted" homosexual?
Deeply closeted. But not Rod La Rocque. And no jokes about his name either.
Neither don’t look or sound like Orsen bean
One of the most annoying voices I've ever heard!
Don't know why they would hire La Rocque. Terrible actor.
