Funny you say that Ben, I have lived in San Diego my entire life, I'm at retirement age now and I'm seriously considering making a small RV or big van my domicile. I lived in a '68 VDub bus for several months in 1980 while waiting for an apartment to open up and all I did was surf all day and work the 2nd shift at night. Slept by, and showered at LJ Shores. To be honest... it was awesome.
I can confirm you are all locals I probably saw all of you as well. If you were either at the lobster lounge, Simmons, windansea but especially if you were down south a little bit anywhere in Ocean Beach especially the jetty we painted that rock 3rd grade
@@BobbyJetty1502 I hit OB lots over the years, but would always check PB and MB first. I probably surfed south side of Scripps pier most often, but eventually ended up at Blacks anytime the swell was correct. I'm a goofy foot, spent a lot of time long-lens shooting the local crew at Big Rock, but rarely hit Windansea simply cause I saw plenty of how the locals treated outsiders. It was just a respect thing. But yeah, times were different then. Way different.
@@fronts3165 Probably so. I'd get off work at 11, and always found folks willing to share a bonfire and a few beers. Dawn patrol every day, showered and got to work (Morena Blvd) by 3. Righteous life.
I was born and raised in San Diego. I moved to an Island march of '24. From 2020-22, I lived in a small motorhome. I had retired and moved out of the house to live where I wanted and do what I wanted. At first I was so excited to be camping/living at the beaches and parks. Well I found out real fast, the CITY OF SAN DIEGO was my enemy! They started harrassing me immediately. I found out that 'We the People' are not allowed to sleep in our motor vehicles in the county of SAN DIEGO. For two years the police harrassed me. Then they stole my motorhome, and i was homeless and on the street, and they had NO concern to be careful about infringing on my inalienable rights as an Amarican. No Due Process of Law, or realizing that I had NO contract with the CITY OF SAN DIEGO and that the department was unlawfuly stealing my private property. These facts did not interest them. Oceanside was just as aggressive. Good riddance.
Democrats think everything in life comes free. Nothing is free brother. Someone has to pay for it. Get a job and stop leaching off the taxpayers. California is a great place but the amount of entitlement is insane.
Man, that sucks. I lived with my gf in her motorhome for a couple of months while awaiting repairs on my rented condo. It really was difficult, having to move it all the time, last resort look for a WalMart who allowed parking in their lot. And... we weren't "homeless", we had a home- it just had wheels.
Not sure when this was recorded... But I hope you were there for last week's SW swell. La Jolla really loves those. Hollow reef bowls a-plenty... If you can give up the Cardiff Reef waves.
Welcome to Encinitas! Terra Mar is my break in Carlsbad. Leave the crappy campground waves to the tourists. Head up north to the reef. See you out there dude....
If you’re ever in San Diego during a Padres home stand, we’d love to have you come down and enjoy a ballgame at “Americas Favorite Stadium” Petco Park!
@@BenGravyy The Phillies were here at the end of April so I guess the next best thing would be a 2022 NLCS rematch in the postseason this year, heavy claims! 🤞
Beautiful San Diego!! I would like to go back there some time soon. Last time I was there I was not surfing and it was having its first rains in a long time.
So many spots, so little time, enjoy my old stomping/surfing grounds Ben and Jordan! SD is a surf mecca and you don't know until you go/grow there... Stoked your getting N.county goodness goodness 🤙 Blessings and aloha NUB

Hope you love crowds! ? Outside of a campground good luck with the overnight parking/sleeping thing (knock knock!!). Also if you get up at 4am every morning parking shouldn't be an issue at the good surf breaks, just don't sleep in. Oh and be careful where you hide your keys when surfing, just giving you the heads up, there people are watching you from a far ie: they're up on Vulcan looking at you parked at Cardiff Reef, soon as your out in the line up they go down and strike -- make a move on driving off with that nice van or take the nice stuff inside, or both, crazy world. Good luck!
