Tony is to Sting what JR is to Stone Cold.
very true
That's pretty appropriate
Amen!!
Facts
STONE COLD STONE COLD STONE COLD STONE COLD
Tony's face is just of pure joy everytime he says "It's Sting! " that man is a treasure. An actual treasure.
Man they should have definitely given us the stinger versus the enforcer Arn Anderson is he scared or what
Tony knows, McMahon has never cared that...
And shows ya Vince isn't. Cause Tony went and Broadcasted Minor league baseball for a while, while he wasn't broadcasting wrestling !!!
No one missed Tony......WCW was always inferior and getting an ancient Stinger won't make this WCW 2.0 any better

“What? Tony, are you kidding me? Bring it in, gimme a hug!”
I popped for that one.

he can be the mysterious badass, but also this and it is great.
When I first read this I thought it said, "I pooped for that one."
Sting still has that aura. He just bleeds greatness.
"See you around kid"..chills.

Whats this Star Wars! LUKE Skywalker!!! lol
Weirdo
Great line.
You know what goes hand in hand with Sting... the Four Horsemen. It is going to come 👀👀
He looked so happy making his return to the ring, it doesnt matter if he is a 60 years old man, i will enjoy every part of his last ride inside of AEW and now Welcome Back Sting!
Sting could show up without face paint, in bedroom slippers and still get a huge pop. 🦂
Well nothing makes undertaker happy than performing but you all don't keep the same energy for him
So true and that made me happy
I think that is the best thing that Sting can face with any wrestler. We can think that Sting have to be in the creative part in AEW.
61 actually
Cody legitimately looks like he’s geeking out being in the ring with Sting.
Yeah he does like taken back that sting is standing in front of him
I can say with nigh certainty he was. Cody was very much one of the "Little Stingers" during the height of Sting's career. He grew up idolizing Sting, and he was never ashamed of acknowledging that. It would have been odd if he HADN'T been visibly on Cloud 9 during that entire promo.
Sting will look badass until hes powder

I was grinning ear to ear during this whole segment. So glad my all time favorite is away from that other company, and here with AEW. He will have a proper " end of his career run " with this company...And have some fun while he does it. He really doesn't even need to wrestle as far as I'm concerned. Just show up out of the blue, with that flashing black & white scorpion logo on the jumbotron, scorpion death drop some fool, have some cool mic-time, and JUST BE STING. Cody seemed like he was trying to stay in character and then couldn't hold the smile back.
I think he had a hard time keeping kayfabe; I mean, STING just gave him a pat on the back and said, “See ya around, kid.” Not many people experience their childhood heroes like that.
Sting is Cody's childhood hero.
He need it the hug from sting he was so happy to see him
comes in like the epic badass icon, first thing he says is to ask for a hug. nothing is diminished.
There's something that's just so right about this. The Enforcer, Sting, a Rhodes and Tony Schiavone in front of a crowd.
kudos for you sir. Late to notice that. Its like a time machine back to early 90's 😁

The best part of this segment was Sting saying "There is something REALLY familiar about this place" while pointing at Darby Allin.

That's not Ciclope!!!
Sting has a tremendous youthful quality still for a guy that is 61 years old. He can't go like he did in the ring like he did in 1990 or 2000, but he doesn't seem OLD and WORN like other legends did at the same time.
Admittedly, it has to be partly because, at least to my knowledge, he took care of himself and didn’t indulge too much in drugs or alcohol like many of the other stars of same said era.
Is it me or is Sting looking at Darby like he's looking in a mirror in his younger day's
Yes a younger smaller version of Crow Sting. Because of his persona. BUT has the hair style damn near of Surfer Sting! LOL
It's just you.
That's right 👍

@@justinkelly9526 They played both football & basketball in high school. They got into wrestling, under unintentional circumstances. They became mainstream stars on a Turner owned network. Sting: Hey Bud wanna hug?
*You mean Darby?*

I almost forget how natural of a promo Sting is. He can't really wrestle anymore but by god he's still a great talker.
He talks like an interviewer haha
They said he couldn't really wrestle anymore when he kicked HHH ass all over the ring with DX & nWo interference & above all HBK & he put HHH over and showed the world they had him fucked up. He could still wrestle.
He can talk. I wish his first promo had a bit more edge or purpose as oppose to the happy reunion tone and actions. The overally joyful hugging kinda killed it for me and i like sting.

This clip is a perfect representation of how AEW is becoming the best promotion, despite that I’m writing this in 2023. It’s grown so much and introduced new incredible names and brought back absolute legends. It’s like Tony Kahn is playing with wresting action figures, taking all the best, classic icons, and discovering new hidden gems, and creating a dream like wrestling world that’s voiced by JR and Schiavone, and it’s all actually happening in real life. It’s awesome. Something myself and probably a lot of other never thought they’d see in the world of wrestling again.
Correct
This might be the most entertaining Sting ever. The hug with Tony was great.
"There's something really, REALLY familiar about this place."

@@daviddrake5272 he's comparing it to WCW when Sting would sit in the rafters of the arena
Man oh man, it looks like Sting hasn't lost a step after all this time, and he genuinely looks like he's happy to be there! Hell, Cody couldn't keep that smile off his face when Sting hugged him, and you could tell Tony Schiavone was legit happy. This just warms the heart.
Sting's mic skill is beyond legendary, I was watching the video of him and CM Punk and he absolutely stole the show when he got on the mic. Not many people can do that when sharing the same ring as Punk.
It amazes me that Sting is still so popular 40 years later. Plus this was nostalgic with Tony saying his name. This is reminiscent of WCW, I love it.
Sting is looking absolutely amazing for his age and looks like he can go at it anytime, I don't care if people say "he's too old", if he feels comfortable wrestling let the man wrestle. He's the one entertaining you after all 😀😀
I’m with you though I think he should face someone like Dustin as a start up match someone who he can work a good and easy match without needing anything to big that would lead to an accident like with Seth
Not only his age, but his voice doesn’t age either. He sounds like 20 years ago. Baffles me

Absolutely something you love doing you don't lose it
I didn't know he is 61 until I see this comment
Sting seemed like he had so much fun, and that makes me happy
This moment between Sting and Cody... The history behind this moment, the fact it was like a real conversation and not a normal promo, the fact that Cody seemed to corpse at times because he was so happy to have the moment. Gah, this right here's why I love wrestling.
I love Cody's pride being hurt because he got out-Alpha Male'd.
Storywise maybe but you can see real Cody geeking out because Sting is Cody’s favorite wrestler growing up
This really feels like the Sting of old, he's here for something and he's going to get It.
Shout out to Sting for giving Tony his flowers!! People forget that before JR would go wild for STONE COLD STONE COLD, Tony was going wild when Sting would drop from the rafters. So awesome to this legend again, he looks so happy and rejuvenated and always good spirits.
JR & Tony were both always going wild for Sting in WCW, it's just that JR was gone before Nitro came about, so most people don't remember his WCW days before that. I loved JR's commentary on Stings first NWA title victory in 1990.
@Joe Mendez Didn’t say he was, I’m saying before JR would Mark out when the glass shattered, Tony would Mark out when Sting came down from the rafters. I’m talking from a commentator’s view. So it was good to see that again with Tony and Sting. That’s why Sting had acknowledged Tony for that doing that for him.
Even with the grey.
I love the hair. It gives an air of the old gunslinger's final stand.

Like Cody develops beef with Sting because he doesn't like being so upstaged on own snow, and that Sting likes Darby more than him, so he takes it out on Darby to get the belt back and re-establish that "this his HIS kingdom", as his theme song says.

Sting is still great on the mic at 61. His mic skills are very underrated
In retrospect after Sting being in AEW for closing in on almost a year now I have to say that he has probably been one of the most valuable signings they’ve ever made. I loved Darby before Sting came along. Lots of us did but there’s no way anyone can say that when Sting returned and walked up to Darby you weren’t like “holy shit is this happening right now?” AEW have used him perfectly. Minimal matches and helping younger talent get over whether it’s him managing Darby Allin or just simply making someone feel bigger by association he’s been nothing but an asset to them. Also I just love seeing Sting still and more importantly I love seeing Sting actually happy where he is.
I grew up as a little kid watching NWA back in the 80's before it became WCW , and Sting was just a rookie at the time. It did not take long at all for him to be over with the fans. His feuds with Rick Flair, Vader ,and Nikita Kollof are amazing. He still looks amazing , and still has that fire he did over thirty years ago. I will never forget when Sting won his first World title back in 1990 on WCW's The Great American Bash against Rick Flair.

This is awesome
Birth from the ashes of WCW. The rebirth phoenix. A payback for having to go out the way they did.
May they avoid making WCW's mistakes.
I am delighted to see Sting on AEW, he looks really happy to be there and full of spirits along with being raring to go, whether it is a match once every year with little to no bumps or just Promo work, I am just grateful to see this absolute legend, because without him? I would not have started watching wrestling when I did back in 1997.
The thing with Sting, and this is a very similar feeling I have for The Undertaker, they are both simply in a word that I feel I could not be more complementary to them no matter how hard I try and it is this.. They are *Timeless*
I love that the endgame of bringing Sting to AEW is making Darby an even bigger deal than he is now. He was the only one that looked Sting in the eyes last week and now Sting makes him feel like a bigger deal than Cody to him.
Also love how natural Sting talks and acts, even if it takes away a little of the mistyque of the character.
I remember drawing Sting and selling those drawings to other kids in elementary school. Sting made me rich back then!
