We have a pretty interesting array where I live. Bless these things because they eat mosquitoes and don't bother people. There are some damselflies that are solid icy blue. And some dragonflies that are solid red. And some dragonflies that are solid black, but have icy blue tipped wings, which is probably my favorite. Last year there was one that had a pink body and red wings. There was also one that was icy blue and had black wings. And one that was pink and had black wings with blue tips on the wings. There are some real beauties where I live. Glad I have a swimming pool for them to lay their eggs in and hunt. They are always a lot of fun to watch, and they keep the annoying insect population under control. I never have nearly as many issues with getting harassed by wasps, mosquitoes, horseflies, etc. whenever dragonflies set up their hunting grounds in my yard.
A week ago I only knew about my own indigenous dragonflies in the UK, usually duller colours...that was until i saw an orange dragonfly in the Algarve, couldn't believe it, I'm now a paid up fan!
Those ebony jewelwings are nice. Buddy of mine in Michigan had 20 acres, and times I visited, I saw these out at his place. Really irridescent and shiny like a 🐉. Always enjoyed seeing them; both in blues and greens. I probably could hide among the beautiful demoiselles mwahahahaha. Perfect camo for my people. The boreal bluets look like what we have on the Gulf Coast, hard suckers to catch or to catch a picture of. Cool stuff! Interesting to see some of the different ones from other continents.
Seeing a Dragonfly is a wonderful Message. Dragonflies symbolize harmony with our inner light, the purist forms of ourselves. Some example of other terms associated with the dragonfly are: prosperity, courage, strength, change (growth), and the infinite cycles of life/death (both spiritual & physical).

it signifies that it's extremely hot outside and dragonflies can die of dehydration just like any other animal.
