Hey John, you should try using 9.9.9.9 as your primary dns and 1.1.1.1 as your secondary DNS. Set this up through your router and your Xbox One and you will see a massive difference. Not to mention the 9.9.9.9 dns has built in protection to protect against ddosers and protects against any kind of malicious sites/viruses. 9.9.9.9 works with 19 different threat intelligence agencies to offer a faster and more secure DNS all for free. Same with Cloudflare which I know you’re aware of but, 9.9.9.9 (Quad9) dns is way better and should be your primary. Cloudflare should be your secondary (fail-over/back-up) DNS.

I have some tips for some people still struggling to update things faster. All you need to do is go to Setting>Power&Startup> then click on the bottom option. After that you want to enable “Instant On.” After enabling Instant on go to Instant On’s option “When Xbox is off, storage is off” and instead of having a mark on it, take out the mark by clicking on it. Now you are able to tune off your Xbox and the game will download faster due to the Xbox only concentrating on downloading the game. Do not Shut Off your Xbox just simply turn it off.

I’m glad I found this video. I just got an X, and I am also on 1 gig fiber. I was pretty disappointed it caps out at 250-350 max wired. I was thinking something wasn’t working right, but your performance is identical to mine it seems. Half the time, it’ll just bog down to 20-60Mb (no apps running), so Xbox live is just garbage service. Steam can use all 1000mbs, even the Xbox network diagnostic will show 1000+.

thats because things like speedtest are using megaBITs per second, but while you are downloading something on say xbox or really anything its megaBYTEs per second, the difference is 1 megaBYTE = 8 megaBITs, hope this clears some stuff up

Anyone with both consoles knows that Xbox Live is far superior to PlayStation Network. Even at "regular" internet speeds, downloading on XBL is way faster than PSN.

Hey John what do you think my issue is? 1 have 1gb speeds. I did the same test you did. It shows up on xbox at 540mbps. When I am downloading a game it is downloading at 41.15 mbps. Changed out my Ethernet cable and speeds hit up to 400 mbps but usually hovered around 250 mbps (same as video). You might try it!

I'm a bit late and idek if you'll see this, but do you have any idea why my downloads are rather slow, at least in comparison to my actual speeds? It's like it's capped. I also have gig internet, 800-1k download roughly, few hundred upload... Yet when I download, it never goes over 100mb/s. Why is this? Over the span of I'll say a year, I've gone from download speeds of 150, to 300, to 500 and now 1gb fiber, yet my actual doenload time/speeds never change or go above 100mb/s. Usually stays a consistent 80mb/s and I'm forever puzzled as to why lol

Everyone on here needs to go and learn the difference between Mbps and MB/s. Also those Xbox speeds of 300MB/s would mean his connection is 10Gbit not 1Gbit, so the Xbox cannot be trusted.
