Love hearing your opinions on this stuff! Like I said, there will be a low light video test AND then a final wrap up video of these three trying to get a bit more comprehensive on features and pros and cons. Keep the comments and questions coming though. You guys help me decide what to test on this channel!
DJI Action 5 Pro is my next camera for these reasons: 1. Reliability (No random crashing/freezing) 2. Fast transfer speeds (Wifi 6 and usb 3.0) 3. Fast Charging (80% in 30 minutes) 4. OLED Screen in front and back (better for viewing in sunlight) 5. Long lasting battery 6. Good image quality 7. Very fast quick capture 8. Improved low light 9. up to 20m under water without a case. 10. Supports 2 mics 11. And most of all much cheaper than GoPros or Insta 360s offering. DJIs Adventure pack is much cheaper than the GoPro and Insta360 bundle offering.
And the fact that GoPro is locking Hypersmooth behind a $99 per year paywall. I'm not sure but I thing the only anti-shake in the smaller GoPro Hero (4K'ing) is behind that pay wall. GoPro wants you on the subscription treadmill, paying them every year. I'm going to say no thank you to that and my next camera will be the Action 5.
Gopro has a good Costco bundle as it comes with a case, 128GB microsd card, and 2 enduro batteries for $389 including shipping. I'm torn between the Gopro and DJI.
After watching the video with all the details on my 65-inch OLED Phillips TV, the clear winner is the GoPro. Only in cases of low light, it doesn't win. I use action cams for outdoor sports and I look for image quality and versatility. Greetings from Spain.
Actually liked the DJI Action Pro 5 - I was watching color balancing in your varying light conditions. Insta seemed to shine in low light but for overall picture and sound quality, it just seemed that the DJI was more generally appealing. Interesting reading other comments.
Image quality GoPro is the winner for me, except low light. I don’t know how to describe it, I think the colors might be more accurate in daylight. Bummer that they still have the old chip. Some technical specs of the Action Pro 5 are great, like the battery and internal storage. But I guess this doesn’t count for the pure image comparison review.
Already picked up the action 5 pro, I think the footage just looks the best in most situations. I’ve got a couple action 4s and haven’t had a single issue with them. Everything just works as they should.
Great comparison video once again David and thanks for taking the trouble to put this together. From watching it several times, here's my take: Bright and front lit - Action 5 followed by Hero 13 In the Shadows - Action 5 followed by Ace Pro Underwater - Hero 13 followed by Action 5 Audio Quality - Both Hero 13 and Action 5 One thing that surprised me in this comparison is the clarity of the Ace Pro which isn't great. For example 1:33 the lifeguard sign, 1:55 your face, 3:35 her better half's face and 5:07 your face
For how close the Ace pro is to the Dji action 5 only makes it better for the ace pro as there is a lot more expectation now for the Ace pro 2. Tight call but I think Ace pro edges it for me.
Small tip for making comparison vids: If you could have the text color different for the camera names then it would be very easy for the viewer to track what camera it is while watching the image without having to move eye to read the camera name in that few secs without requiring to pause the vid, thanks.
Low light comparison is very important because quality and stability are very good in good lighting for all those cameras. That's one key differentiator I guess. Thank you for the vid. I love my ace pro but i love the size of action 5.
Honestly, after the first round, it was pretty easy to guess the cams right each time. the ace has the best colours, but is rather soft in the details, the DJI is sharper and still pretty nice colours, while the GoPro is also sharper but has the least saturation. Having said that, i'd say the DJI is my personal overall favourite. Maybe the ace can correct the clarity by tweaking the settings, but as it is in your preview, the softer image feels suboptimal especially when there's text that you simply can't read as well as on either of the other two cams. As for audio, the DJI is again my favourite (in terms of voices having the best clarity), then the GoPro, which might actually be better suited for anything other than voices thanks to more bass, while the ace sounds a little underwhelming due to neither bass nor voice being the main focus.
Thanks for this! Above water, I consistently picked the Ace Pro and strongly preferred it. Underwater, I picked the Go Pro, which is a testament to their color science as I own an Ace Pro and shoot it underwater regularly.
David, Thank you for the video! I am still on a GoPro 11 and thinking about the Action 5 Pro, because of batteries life, stability and long term compatibility - for MTB. All of the features of the new Action 5 Pro are well known, but this video for image quality comparison is great. Your comparison test: If you know the characteristics of them, it is easy to guess right (But only in the underwater clip I was wrong). The GoPro has a little more detail, but I don't know, if it is over-sharpened per software or it is more pixels of the sensor. On the other hand some highlights of the GoPro clips are clipping. I can't wait for your low light comparison video - thanks a lot.
Can't wait for the ace pro 2. I have a go pro and I use it mostly for recording myself flipping on the trampoline. What's super convenient is that I can watch what I just recorded on my phone without having to download the clip. Thing that I can't do on my sony alpha.
My existing GoPro subscription is about to expire and I need to decide in a hurry which way to go. Watching the footage, I think the GoPro looked best in well-lit conditions, with most natural colours, less weird HDR, best detail/clarity. Obviously GoPro comes last in dark conditions. I struggle to understand why people get obsessed with dark performance - these are action cams. Ok i guess if your use case is indoors, but I think for most of us, we use them outdoors and it's a complete non-issue. I have read comments supposedly from DJI that address the low bitrate concerns people have raised (leading to lack of detail in some shots) and that they plan to introduce a high bitrate option in their next firmware. I'd love to see that but will have to decide before they release it. I'd also like to see the strongly-rumoured ace pro 2, but it looks to be another week away. I think I will probably stick with GoPro - a bird in the hand is better than 2 in the bush.
Thanks David for the comparison. It's really a trip to read the comments on this one. After working with so many Cameras I was locked in on one. The under the bridge test was revealing.
I want the Ace, especially if they update it with 10 bit and log…. But I really wish it connected wirelessly to a mic like the DJI DJI def has the advantage of that ecosystem
Looks like the GoPro strangely has more details in most of the clips, despite the smaller sensor. Wish you had the Action 4 in there as well as I have found in the Action 4 vs 5 comparisons, the Action 4 appears sharper than the 5, which again is strange to me.
Looks great, but i am not willing to change the Action 4 for the 5 Pro model.. i got it a few months ago, and I am not willing to spend more money for just a new sensor.. we must to balance the overconsuming phenomenon when the companies makes every year a new model! Keep doing the great job!
I already bought DJI Action5 for myself and I am very happy with the purchase, it shoots great, battery is perfect and night videos are great, mic is very clear- Strongly recommended - P.S 48GB of Internal memory bonus ))
Good idea with the mixing footage, just found the font size and placement distracting during the guess phase. Ace pro had the best overall image quality imho, if i didnt have gopro 12 already i would go for it
Insta is clearly the winner 🥇 the other 2 are brand spanking new yet they do pull some advantages over the ace but it’s very minimal being that they are also new. I’d still pick the ACE and when they bring out the Ace2 dayemmm it’s gunna be awesome, also the insta app is just the best for editing👌🏻 crem of all della crems ❤
Honestly for these specific tests they all look pretty good! But it's all the other things that come into play - GoPro's reliability issues and horrible low light make it a no for me. So that means it's DJI or Insta360. DJI would be great to match up with my OP3 and seamless wireless audio, not having to buy adapters etc. It also has a front screen I don't have to flip up. Insta360 is great, awesome app support, even though it's a flip screen it's easier to film in different angles but no log footage. I guess final decision will be made in a few weeks when we see what Insta360 is going to do. Right now I'm leaning more towards the Osmo Action 5 pro. Thanks David!
For image quality it was pretty clear to me that the DJI Action 5 had the best image quality. It showed more detail and had better colors. The only place where it was worse than the Insta360 was in backlight, where it darkened your face. However there are features of the Insta360 that I really like, such as the flip up screen, remote control with preview screen, and the ability to do 2x zoom without digital zooming. So I am keen to see what they come up with in their next version of that camera. Thanks for you video - very helpful!
Been using gopro hero 11 and very satisfied with the result. That being said i think hero 12 and 13 doesn't look like a worthy upgrade for now. But for low light needs I might get action 5 pro for my next camera.
Hi David, Keep pumping out these comparison videos! Looking forward to your lowlight tests. I read in the comment sections of another video that for A5P, the standard color and HDR profiles are mushy in challenging lighting conditions. The belief is that lower bit rates are being used so it has worst IQ vs A4, but if you use D log M, then it’s clean. Hopefully new firmware update will add higher bit rate options and clean up the color profiles. I would definitely prefer this vs. the extended battery life but have the option to switch back and forth depending on the use cases that requires IQ vs battery life and larger files and vice-versa. My preferences: - direct sunlight: first is AP, then GP13, then A5P - behind sunlight: first is AP, then A5P, then GP13 - underwater: first is GP13, then AP, then A5P - audio: first is A5P, then the other two
To my eye, the GoPro looks best in this test. Makes sense, in this kind of bright sunlight, I would trust my GoPro 12. Question, in the 13 the same sensor? Looks so. Next test, try these guys at night!!!! PS : I also really like the Ace Pro on this test, which is quite amazing considering the other cameras are brand new. Excited to see what the Ace Pro 2 will bring! And excited for more of your testing. I always trust your opinion! :)
What's missing as info: Did you use everything out of the box? I own the Action 5 Pro and there is an absolute difference if you tone down Texture/Sharpness and Noise Reduction. Even in lowlight the Action 5 is superior with NR setting to -1 or -2, just a quick tip.
I really liked Potato Jets comparison. I’d prefer you not move the cameras around. The movement turns it more into a game. I would rather be able to fairly compare each camera. I.e. GoPro looked better under water, Ace exposed the face better, action 5 showed more dynamic range, etc. it’s difficult when they keep changing. I just asked Peter Lindgren to compare the Ace. That’s what I’m interested in. I think the Action 5 and Ace have surpassed the GoPro, but I would like to decide which I like better. Thank you, David!
From your video David, this is my conclusion: Everything related to pool or beach activities, GoPro is the way to go, as long is sunny jejeje. Over and under the water it will do amazing, no wonders the founder was a surfer. Oh, and Audio, is superb compared with the rest, they significantly improved that. Real action, sunny or cloudy, any of these cameras can work, but if it is cloudy, that’s means in the rain forest, cave exploration, anything that could get low light during daylight, DJI could be the best to go. All around camera, for vlogging, trip to the city, hiking, activates that do not involve water jejeje Insta360 for me is the best, and it will do good at low light! Blessings bro and to your family, and thanks for your content!
The performance of the ace pro in the backlighting scene is amazing but I still would go for the DJI on this one. They really improved the camera instead of a tiny step with the GoPro.
The explanations are very good, however the Osmo Action 5 does not have a hindsight recording mode, where you can capture 30 seconds before the event, only the Ace and Go Pro have this feature, and after using it you will never miss a scene
Wow thx very much for this video ! I have the Action 4 and will buy the 5. For me, i still detected a defect on the 4 which I hope will be corrected on the 5; when I'm in the sea, snorkeling, the quality is impressive but... From time to time, the color turns green, before recovering within 10 to 20 seconds... Which never happens on gopro. As a result, I have to modify the colors of these "moments" on my editing software. On the internet, they say it's because of the front sensor which constantly adapts, and which the gopro doesn't have. We have great quality underwater, better than GoPro, but from time to time, it sucks as explained... Too bad.
I’ve just ordered a DJI as I’m over GoPro and it’s crashing and poor battery life. So I’m not biased and nothing I say will be fair and that means the DJI is the clear winner 😂 But objectively, the Ace pro looked pretty good. Go Pro and DJI similar. All are good enough so it comes down to the other features, reliability and price. Being able to connect my 2 Mic 2s wirelessly and fast quick capture? Yep, that’s locked it in for me
DJI !!! Action 3 makes a good job on my motorcycle travelling but not enough dynamic range, I see on Action 5 it’s a lot of better! I love DJI for battery life, quick charging, reliability and good sound, also wide angle without dispersion
3:18 Each action camera has its own advantages and disadvantages for each brand. just like a cell phone. Judging from the video results, I chose DJI Action 5 Pro.🎉👌 What I like about the DJI Action 5 pro is that it is an action camera that has internal storage.
For me is the Ace Pro. But I have to say that under water the GoPro is way better. Im just gonna patiently wait for the low light test because it's a major deal
Action 5 in most cases, even when it's back-lit. I also like the slightly wider field-of-view. But the GoPro easily takes the W for the closed pool underwater footage. Ace Pro tracking and exposing to the face is nice but it's almost borderline to when a picture looks fake cuz you cranked up the shadows to 100. GoPro's sky color looks more different than the typical GoPro look for some reason. (It was super easy to guess which was which cuz of the field of view and the sky color.) I wanna say Action 5 as well for the audio but I can hear the processing (noise reduction and compression) and that throws it off for me time to time but I guess for an action camera and not having to deal with fixing things in post, it's good enough. It's also interesting to see that the Action 5 and Ace Pro have very similar color science, especially with skin tones, but then the GoPro is just completely different.
For me it wans't hard to guess all the cameras on the First Guess Set = Sunny weather (4k and good monitor) - The GoPro 13 consistently delivered the high contrast, bright and sharp image with lots of details. - The DJI Action 5 wasn’t as sharp and contrast. It was more forgiving when it came to skin details and generaly looked more natural than GoPro. This doesn't mean better. Just different. Matter of preferences. - The Ace Pro always appeared blurry. I don't like so unsharp image. Surprised to see that blur from Carl Zeiss optics.
I found myself liking cameras in different settings. Sometimes the dji looked best but i think the insta 360 looked better when capturing the colors on the guitar. I feel like the insta also was the least sharp out of the 3. I think overall i liked the image quality of the DJI the most but you really can't go wrong with any of these
I feel like all 3 have their strengths and weaknesses. I have 2 GoPro 11's and the insta 360 ace pro. I do a lot of filming/editing, what I've found is like love the GoPro in certain situations but I love the ace pro in other situations.
Sound favourite was DJI but image was Ace Pro, followed by DJI, then GoPro. Not sure if I said this in your last video or not but I sold Insta360 X 3 and have no intention purchasing another. Tried that and the Go Pro Max and hated both…although Insta360’s was way better.
All of them are good for daytime videos with marginal differences, by this time, action cameras should have videos with optimal light down to a T. Slight variances in color science is purely individual preference. Heck, my daughter has a $99 Akasa and looks impressive with optimal lighting lol. We are so hyper-focused on this category we forget the other also very important categories that set each camera apart, ie. low light capabilities, user interface, ease of use, audio eco system etc. Great video as usual David, would like to see the Ace Pro 2 in this race as the Ace Pro is now a year old but still holds strong ;)
The problem I have with GoPro is their desktop app is not very good. Insta360 Studio has a ND Motion Blur software filter that is amazing. I have a GP 10 and 11 but my next purchase is going to be a Insta360 Ace Pro or Ace Pro 2.
The GoPro is the clear winner. I don’t need low light performance out of an action cam. Maybe that’s just me, though I doubt I’m alone. Plus, when you scour the internet for DJI reviews that aren’t from influencers who were sent the camera early, the vast majority of people still prefer the GoPro.
A very solid point. I think a big chunk of people that just view the footage like the GoPro’s high saturation and contrast. It’s a super popular look, especially for action cameras!
@@DavidManningvlog Even if you turn those settings down and run natural color profile and low sharpness, it’s still a better image. Nobody that’s sponsored by DJI, or was given the camera for an “honest review” says anything negative. Their biased opinions are not going to deceive my eyes. The GoPro is the better camera.
I do a lot of MTB riding in the forest. While I thought the GoPro had the best image quality it really performed poorly in the shadows. That's a show stopper for autumn riding when the shadows play across the trails. I'm also not a fan of the battery issues previous generations had in warm temperatures. Until I learn otherwise the GoPro is out for me. The DJI Action Pro 5 looked second best. I'm concerned about it's robustness. I sometimes wreck and the camera needs to be robust enough to survive those hard knocks intact. I'm concerned about the lens breaking. The Insta360 might be the last man standing. I have to know more.
I could tell just by shirt texture detail. After that, insta360 and Gopro. If given one, it will be a tossup between higher rez, battery life or attachments.
I was surprised to pick GoPro maybe 2/3rds of the time, and did not pick the Ace once. But daylight IQ was so close among the 3 I’m inclined to select based on ecosystem, and low light (dawn dusk) performance. Right now I shoot with an Air 3 and Pocket 3, have DJI mic, and like the idea of adding DJI’s action cam to that kit. But the exchangeable lens options of the GoPro are very intriguing. Might wait to see how that anamorphic one fairs before deciding. Also want to see if Ace 2 turns any tricks worth catching.
The GoPro Hero 13 and DJI Action 5 def have the better picture quality. I kept getting the two mixed up. All great cameras. I really with DJI's magnetic mount could go either way like the GoPro. Also, I wish my DJI Gen 1's could connect to the Action 5 Pro. ha
I've been a hardcore GoPro image lover since the Hero 8 Black but with the 13 out now and the Action 5 Pro... I have to say I now heavily favor the image of the Action 5 Pro for 90% of the shots you showed and 100% of the shots other RUclipsrs have shown! For reference, there were a couple of the underwater shots with the Hero 13 I thought looked marginally better. I'm 100% NOT sold on the gimmicky slow motion GoPro is trying to push as a serious feature and typically never use higher than 120 on an action camera to begin with!
DJI video and audio was really doing well. It’s been a long time since I’ve had an action camera but I think it time to get one soon. I’m not going with GoPro.
As a former go pro user. At this point because they all look decent I’m staying away from GO Pro. Way too many overheating issues, sudden stops, too much lost footage. They lost my trust unfortunately in the recent years I’ll only look at DJI and Insta at this point. Very tough to decide. Can’t wait to see Ace Pro 2 in a few weeks
I agree, just sold my old gopros and will be looking to either by dji or insta action cam. Gopro froze and stop responding way to many times on me. Can't trust them anymore. I have insta 360 x2 and now x3 and those cameras never froze.
Well almost all of the shots i guessed correct...im afraid in decent light the gopro hands down,if only gopro would compete in all the other areas, reliability, ease of use ,battery life etc,if there is a god, please roll all of these cameras into one !
I'd say in general the DJI 5 is the winner for me with the Ace Pro a close 2nd. The GoPro 13 also had me here & there, especially under water. Really looking forward to the Low Light comparison!!
I don’t think you can go wrong with any of the cameras. The footage is so similar. It’s difficult to tell which is which. I don’t count low light video cause these cameras weren’t meant for that. I think in the end it only matters what your needs are and how you will use the camera.
I really wish the youtube camera reviewers would make it clear if they are sponsored or even gifted the camera, it makes a difference if we can believe what you are saying.
GoPro far way better underwater, but I prefer ace pro on another scene The audio between gopro and ace pro kinda sound similiar and when switch to DJI I feel the sound transition Worth to wait for Insta360 release the AcePro2, maybe
Image quality is very similar on all 3. BUT. Low light and battery life DJI ACTION OWNS. Plus, camera and accessories are much cheaper than GoPro. I just don't really see the reason to get a GoPro anymore for the last 3-4 years. DJI and INSTA360 have really stepped up.
The Ace Pro cam is simply too good and in my opinion the best all around action cam of the 3. Color accuracy, detail, low light capabilities, face recognition, audio, image quality the list goes on. It's a solid action cam and I would buy one if I had the need for one and a user for these types of applications.
I have an Ace pro myself. I bought it because of the better recordings in low light. However, a tilting screen in a sports camera is not a good idea. Additionally, you can't replace the lens yourself. And professionals and those who consider themselves such (a small percentage) complain that it has an 8-bit wheel (16 million colors), and 10-bit is 2 billion colors. However, to see the effect you need a 10-bit display, and most screens don't have such screens. It's also hard to notice it when recording action. To sum up, it's a big difference in color, but hardly noticeable in practice.
I think the DJI an insta360 are pretty close, the only one I could call somewhat consistently was go pro because it usually looked the worst of the 3 and had the least dynamic range.
I think your test is backwards! Daytime Image quality is so close that it's not the deciding factor anymore. Low light is a different question. To me all the other features make the difference. Ease of use, reliability, file size and editing, audio, battery life, accessories, and cost. Ever since the Action 4 came out I love the DJI. Just started using the Action 5 and for daytime use it's the same as the Action 4. I'm really enjoying the battery life and the easy connection with the Mic 2 and the GPS remote.
One of the features you didn't compare is GPS... Which Action Camera has the best, user friendly, reliable, best app's ( ie telemetry overlay (its the only one Ive heard of) or others) best connections for GPS... No one of the content creators talks about this. Most do a brief it has it and someone might do a this is how you use it but no one has done a VS on it.. Please consider this....
I'm curious how insta360 will improve the Ace Pro. Also, what are your thoughts of the DJI bitrate conversation? Do you feel like there is some credit to the concern about it?
dji colors are kind of trash in my opinion… i experience this in low light drone stuff. i feel like overall, the insta ace really held up… there were a few shots w the go pro where exposure was off or colors didn’t sit right - maybe they’re more “accurate” but at times i like the warm look of the ace. i either picked the ace or gopro, don’t think i picked the dji one time
I failed at guessing 99% of the time. LOL ...at this point it is really splitting hairs when it comes to image quality between these cameras. The ACE pro seems best in low light but Im not out at night with my action cam so ill stick with the GoPro for now.
Every new action camera is just a big gimmic , we're still using the Go Pro hero 7 and it's 4k with great stabilisation and a Go Pro 360 Max ..as far as sound goes external mics and sync it , easy peasy lemon squeezy 😊.....still like yer vlogs though 🤣🤣🏴
Honestly, I love hearing that! I have a pretty hard and fast rule that it's not worth upgrading camera gear unless there's something you want to film and you can't with your current setup. That's when it's time to upgrade. If the Hero 7 is treating you well, then stick with it!
@DavidManningvlog it's a lot easier when you know the Go Pro reset procedure lol if yer wanting a laugh we're called Oot n aboot wi us and vlog in Scotland 🏴
Love hearing your opinions on this stuff! Like I said, there will be a low light video test AND then a final wrap up video of these three trying to get a bit more comprehensive on features and pros and cons. Keep the comments and questions coming though. You guys help me decide what to test on this channel!
Will you redo the comparison when the Insta360 Ace Pro 2 is released in a few days time?!
If the rumors are true about the Insta360 Ace Pro 2, can you test which of the action cameras is best for underwater recording?
It seems that, all of your selfie from Acepro are out of focus!
DJI Action 5 Pro is my next camera for these reasons:
1. Reliability (No random crashing/freezing)
2. Fast transfer speeds (Wifi 6 and usb 3.0)
3. Fast Charging (80% in 30 minutes)
4. OLED Screen in front and back (better for viewing in sunlight)
5. Long lasting battery
6. Good image quality
7. Very fast quick capture
8. Improved low light
9. up to 20m under water without a case.
10. Supports 2 mics
11. And most of all much cheaper than GoPros or Insta 360s offering. DJIs Adventure pack is much cheaper than the GoPro and Insta360 bundle offering.
Just bought it. It is really a great camera. moved from Osmo Action 1.
You can buy DJI action 4 same to same camera only some features is different
The most important advantage is that it has higher FOV than other two cameras. In all comparisons first clip that immediately stands out is DJI one.
After watching the video with all the details on my 65-inch OLED Phillips TV, the clear winner is the GoPro. Only in cases of low light, it doesn't win. I use action cams for outdoor sports and I look for image quality and versatility. Greetings from Spain.
Undecided because i liked each camera at different times throughout the video.
get the ace pro. all the uninique the features it has i cant live without.
But I guess this doesn’t count for the pure image comparison review.
well hero13 does a good job with night videos actually, which was not the case for older models
Already picked up the action 5 pro, I think the footage just looks the best in most situations. I’ve got a couple action 4s and haven’t had a single issue with them. Everything just works as they should.
The GoPro Hero 13 has a smaller sensor, the image quality is incredible. I think at that point the competition is tight. 😊
Great comparison video once again David and thanks for taking the trouble to put this together. From watching it several times, here's my take:
Bright and front lit - Action 5 followed by Hero 13
In the Shadows - Action 5 followed by Ace Pro
Underwater - Hero 13 followed by Action 5
Audio Quality - Both Hero 13 and Action 5
One thing that surprised me in this comparison is the clarity of the Ace Pro which isn't great.
This is a great test. I liked the GoPro almost every time. Underwater it looked amazing. Insta360 looked great in the shadows tho
I prefer the DJI Action 5 Pro
Thanks for the input!
Me tooo....
Me too insta360 ace pro 2
I totally agree with you
Small tip for making comparison vids: If you could have the text color different for the camera names then it would be very easy for the viewer to track what camera it is while watching the image without having to move eye to read the camera name in that few secs without requiring to pause the vid, thanks.
I watch these reviews and I still find myself enjoying GoPro's color science way better! Great review David!
GoPro clear winner, colors are way better, the DJI is sometimes oversaturated. Also underwater and sound on the GoPro is way better.
Gopro is poopoo and garbage in low light.
But I really wish it connected wirelessly to a mic like the DJI
DJI def has the advantage of that ecosystem
The ace already connects to the dji mic
The latest update fixed it!
I was pretty accurate guessing which one. And to my eye, the Ace Pro footage was generally better.
I already bought DJI Action5 for myself and I am very happy with the purchase, it shoots great, battery is perfect and night videos are great, mic is very clear- Strongly recommended - P.S 48GB of Internal memory bonus ))
picked the gopro as best in most
Makes me sad to agree with you, I still want to see it on my laptop at home in 4k
Hi David,
Keep pumping out these comparison videos!
My preferences:
- direct sunlight: first is AP, then GP13, then A5P
- behind sunlight: first is AP, then A5P, then GP13
- underwater: first is GP13, then AP, then A5P
- audio: first is A5P, then the other two
To my eye, the GoPro looks best in this test.
I guess it's time to pick up the action 5,I keep picking it from the comparisons. Awesome as always David!
What's missing as info: Did you use everything out of the box? I own the Action 5 Pro and there is an absolute difference if you tone down Texture/Sharpness and Noise Reduction. Even in lowlight the Action 5 is superior with NR setting to -1 or -2, just a quick tip.
Finally someone gave it right away without playing "guess the cam. What a wonderful video.
From your video David, this is my conclusion:
Everything related to pool or beach activities, GoPro is the way to go, as long is sunny jejeje.
That was the most creative audio test/sponsor mix. I love it
The explanations are very good, however the Osmo Action 5 does not have a hindsight recording mode, where you can capture 30 seconds before the event, only the Ace and Go Pro have this feature, and after using it you will never miss a scene
So I’m not biased and nothing I say will be fair and that means the DJI is the clear winner 😂
But objectively, the Ace pro looked pretty good.
Go ahead and tell me the Ace Pro 2 is about to be released without telling me you already have one 🤣 looking forward to that footage
3:18 Each action camera has its own advantages and disadvantages for each brand. just like a cell phone.
Judging from the video results, I chose DJI Action 5 Pro.🎉👌
What I like about the DJI Action 5 pro is that it is an action camera that has internal storage.
For someone’s first action camera which one is the best for ease of use?
For me is the Ace Pro. But I have to say that under water the GoPro is way better. Im just gonna patiently wait for the low light test because it's a major deal
Low light test is up now!
For me it wans't hard to guess all the cameras on the First Guess Set = Sunny weather (4k and good monitor)
- The GoPro 13 consistently delivered the high contrast, bright and sharp image with lots of details.
I got an Action 5. honestly, gopro have better image quality with more details in this video. Hope dji will fix the bitrate issue in future update.
I think the colors of the GoPro are better and it has a lot of detail. For me, where it fails is in low light and with the battery.
The GoPro Hero 13 and DJI Action 5 def have the better picture quality. I kept getting the two mixed up. All great cameras. I really with DJI's magnetic mount could go either way like the GoPro. Also, I wish my DJI Gen 1's could connect to the Action 5 Pro. ha
GoPro best under water, DJi has the best mic but Insta better everywhere else. And I’m pretty sure it will win the low light. Love your content.
I picked the Insta about 60% of the time as my most liked image and the GoPro the other 40%. Didn’t once pick the DJI.
Interesting data!
They lost my trust unfortunately in the recent years
I’ll only look at DJI and Insta at this point.
Ace Pro footy has a lot less of that digital crunch. not sure if that's just a settings/sharpness thing, but it's so much easier to watch
After watched from start to finish. ACE PRO is no doubt a winner. I heve GPro Hero 11 and insta 360 X3.
For me it’s the Insts360 Ace Pro. The colours are more vibrant.
I'm hearing that a lot!
I like the DJI most. Underwater videos I preferred the GoPro.
I assume lowlight and all the features, DJI would take it for me.
I think the HeroActionAce was the best.
For vlogging face center, the GP13 is just so much sharper. 👍🏼
I really wish the youtube camera reviewers would make it clear if they are sponsored or even gifted the camera, it makes a difference if we can believe what you are saying.
If you watch this channel long enough, you'll realize it doesn't👍
GoPro far way better underwater, but I prefer ace pro on another scene
The audio between gopro and ace pro kinda sound similiar and when switch to DJI I feel the sound transition
Worth to wait for Insta360 release the AcePro2, maybe
For you whats the better camera now?.
They all looked good at times, too close to call. Great testing, thanks for sharing.
if you are going surfing or action sports go to gopro if just vlogging at land or forest go action 5
I think GoPro is super sharp, and AcePro is a bit blur, thank you so much for the test.
The Ace pro only focuses from about 0.5 meters, so at close range the focus is worse.
"Précision des couleurs" pour la Ace Pro : c'est une blague 🤣🤣🤣
I think the DJI an insta360 are pretty close, the only one I could call somewhat consistently was go pro because it usually looked the worst of the 3 and had the least dynamic range.
Mostly Dji 5, more natural colours, better white balance and more dark tones, difference in 1:53 is epic !
If the DJI had the detail capture of the GoPro it would be the winner for me.
I'm curious how insta360 will improve the Ace Pro. Also, what are your thoughts of the DJI bitrate conversation? Do you feel like there is some credit to the concern about it?
I'm still at 2:08 but the sharpening applied to the DJI Action 5 Pro ruins its image IMO (I wish it was turned down for the comparison)
dji colors are kind of trash in my opinion… i experience this in low light drone stuff. i feel like overall, the insta ace really held up… there were a few shots w the go pro where exposure was off or colors didn’t sit right - maybe they’re more “accurate” but at times i like the warm look of the ace. i either picked the ace or gopro, don’t think i picked the dji one time
I think I'm done with GoPro... love the other two cameras, DJI for underwater, close focus... Insta360 for low light
GoPro 13 with anmorphic lens ❤❤❤
03:55 il y a une erreur : la 3ème c'est la GoPro !
La science des couleurs de GoPro permet à la GoPro de rester loin devant ses deux concurrentes.
I was surprised how well the GoPro did underwater.
