In my opinion, Ashley is very limited in her style.. she wants to dress every guy the same. Not everyone and not every occasion is good for her sharp/business casual outfit advise.
I try to take any aesthetic advice with a grain of salt because they each only provide one perspective-and who is to say theirs is the only correct one?
That is very true however she does dress celebrities that at appears to be what their default uniform at the moment. So it's not exactly unexpected. It also does help that her chosen range for the video don't exactly deviate too far from that type of style. Making anything that's "wrong" seem far bigger than it really is, like single small scratch on a new polished car.

@@youreannoying oh no, it's more on the affordability of a good quality leather jacket. We love them, way more than cheap made Levi's denim jackets (modern ones), but leather jackets are timeless and not something related to age. In fact, a man buying things during his 40s should be recognized as a man who finally has the money to afford whatever he wants and nobody should talk smack about them
@@thepirateking1178 I really don't know why everyone acts like this side of men's fashion is the end all be all look that you have to go for, it's so boring. @@samgray4566 exactly. I feel like people think good fashion equals look like a cookie cutter boy scout who your boomer parents would approve of. Where is the edge?
I agree but I think the style and fit of a jacket can skew young/juvenile or mature/sophisticated. His jacket is definitely one that screams early 20s to me.
@@blerksnarfgut7332 That's marketing nonsense. Look at Gen Z wearing 90s fits nowadays, when less than a couple years ago, they were considered mom or dad style aesthetics. Wear whatever you like. People that try and shame you and claim that you're trying to recapture whatever youth is spewing brainwashed, judgmental, double-digit IQ drivel, and have nothing better to contribute to the world than that.
@@12801270able Of course ppl can and should wear whatever they want. I personally feel, though, certain garments and styles of clothing lend themselves better to certain age groups. It's probably just societal conditioning informing my feelings but seeing a fitted leather jacket on a 50 year old man for example, to me, always reads more as a desperate attempt to cling to youth (no matter how good the man may look or feel in it). But to each their own and everyone has the right to express themselves as they see fit.
@@blerksnarfgut7332 If people believe the only reason an older man is wearing a leather jacket is to cling onto youth, then it says more about the people than it does the man in question. There are many other reasons as to why that could be the case, so why must it be the negative, shaming, insecurity version? A fitted leather jacket on someone like Jared Leto and Keanu Reeves looks more at home than a non fitted leather jacket. Furthermore, fitted leather jackets simply look sleeker and sharper than their baggy variants. Body shape for this kind of style is more important than age. Age should be a nonfactor here. Only reason is because people have these propagandized ideas of what x age range of people should be like with how they act, dress, behave, live life, whatever. Screw that. Life is short.
I agree. I've seen comments which absolutely changed their mindset on leather jackets and wanted to throw them away. They still haven't realised that we mostly dress for ourselves to feel good & confident. Not much for others. If one feels they look good in a fit, then they look good in that fit. We dress to feel good about ourselves and be confident
Ok. I see what youre trying to say. That also made me think, how do we dress in todays time and still look clean and up to date? Do you know any channels that has that?
True. I occasionally hate watch her videos when they pop up in my recommended. She just has this condescending nature with everything and a really bland sense of style. It's no wonder mainstream men's fashion is so boring when people like this are the ones styling celebrities
Nothing wrong with alpha wearing a leather jacket. Saying he can’t cos his age is a bit ridiculous, a good classy leather jacket is timeless. Also older men can get away with nicely faded jeans too, but I agree alpha’s are wayyy overly bleached but I say each to their own (well maybe). Other than that I agree with pretty much everything else, good vid Ashley
Tim is one of my favourites. Even though I don’t feel like I could pull off a lot of his looks(the baggy, comfort chic trend), I really admire his ability to put outfits together.
Same he looks awesome in his style it fits him well, what I really learn from bis channel is to dress for your body, your style and don't be afraid to experiment and truthfully not follow these RUclipsrs where it's all about looking as plain as possible and like everyone else
The problem with “fashion” is that people follow trends and do things that they feel are hip, up to date and accepted by others. Wheat what you want to wear regardless. Don’t let people dress you and dictate what you need to look like. I’ve always followed my own style and it has never affected in in any way. Matter of fact I’ve gotten compliments as a result. Be original and f### every else’s opinions.
I used to do this ("wear what you want to wear"), and it didn't work out for me. I used to get compliments for doing that when I was in high school and college, but as I got older I would get less compliments, and soon people thought that I was much younger than I actually was, partly because I dressed immature for my age. A lot of people probably thought I dressed terribly but didn't have the mean spirit to tell me (so just because you get a few compliments, that doesn't mean you aren't looking silly to most other people). I thought I was wearing what I wanted to wear, but I was never really happy with my outfits and wardrobe. I looked and felt immature. It was only after I started doing research and looking into fashion norms that I was able to chose the style that suited me best. I find it similar to writing music (or creating any art, for that matter). My piano teacher once told me that you can throw the notes you like on a sheet of paper all you want, with no experience, but it will sound terrible and amateurish. The great composers of the past first learned basic music theory until they became experts. They understood the rules and how to abide by them, so that they could intelligently and stylishly BREAK THEM and thus create their own styles of music. Same goes for painters like Picasso. His early work was very traditional, identical to all the other painters of that era. Once he acquired all the skills and knowledge, he broke the mold in a way that was notably intentional. Same goes for most poets and writers. They learned how to write a standard poem/essay/story before they were able to break the rules intelligently. Great writers even break grammar rules for added effect, but they must learn those grammar rules first in order to achieve that effect. Likewise, if you really want to have a style that you will truly appreciate, then I highly recommend learning the basics of style. You aren't obligated to exhibit any of the basics in your outfits, but I guarantee that once you see what is available and expected in terms of outfits, and have those pieces of knowledge at your disposal, you will be able to choose or create a style that not only you will appreciate more but that others will appreciate more as well. This is especially important in professional settings, and in places where you need to look respectable. You won't always be able to wear what you want. In some settings, you will lose a ton of respect for dressing recklessly. I learned the basics of fashion via this channel in particular. I don't blindly do everything that Ashley recommends, but I apply the tips that I agree with. My style has drastically improved and matured as a result, to the point that I have hooked up with and dated people in the fashion industry (girls who were definitely judging me based on my outfits), while not being a try-hard or sacrificing my own tastes. I never ever wear anything that I don't like. In fact, my style is super plain, laid back, and inexpensive, but others like it and I couldn't be happier with it myself. I'm definitely happier with my style now than I was when I aimlessly wore whatever I wanted to. As Ashley says, you don't need to worry about the latest trend or hot items. Learn what outfits, looks, and pieces of clothing are TIMELESS and will always be respected. Learn them once, and then you can move on with your life and never have to worry much about fashion ever again. I haven't watched videos like this in ages. I just invested a few weeks/months learning as much of the basics as I could in 2016-2017, and then I applied the lessons and moved on. That knowledge has made all the difference, and continues to do so, 5-6 years later. Sorry that was a rant, but I just wanted to put my two cents out there, in appreciation for this channel. Watching this video brought back good memories.
@@asR2424 Obviously 😂 all clothing is subjective. No item of clothing is objectively right or wrong, it's all based on preference (even if the masses go for a trend, it doesn't make that trend objectively correct). Your comment is so strange.
I think he looked great too, people are just bizarre. Being so judgmental of the fabrics other people drape themselves in is SO strange. There is no right or wrong, there is only what feels right to each individual.
I get so frustrated, when fashion people make statements like “this outfit is just way too young for him” “midlife crises” and others. A leather jacket is not too young for someone haha.
Honestly I don’t know why she’s regarded so highly, most of her criticisms in this video were too harsh making her seem like a really restrictive stylist. Not at all how people in 2022 feel about dressing. I would appreciate a lot of “misfitting” styles these days, it’s ok to have a bit of a mismatch on purpose, adds some pleasant surprise and gives people an impression that you’re either adventurous or too confident to care. Which is quite attractive.
The country needs more people like her. The countries standard for socially acceptable dress attire has completely gotten out of hand. Nothing wrong with wheeling it in.
Agree with everything apart from the ageism towards alpha men. He can dress however he wants and if he wants to dress like that at 60, he’s more than welcome to and would look just fine doing it. We need to stop these stereo types of what people should wear at what age. This would go along way in peoples mental health & also for sustainability, there’s no point telling people a jacket would last a lifetime and then criticising them if they do decide to wear it for a lifetime.
@@robertelee4135 even if your extreme oversimplification is true, which I seriously doubt is the sole contributor of a multifaceted problem; living in a world full of judgements doesn’t help. So I fail to even recognise what your point is?
He is free to do whatever he likes, of course. But every person's individual attributes like: age, body type, height and skin tone should be taken into account if they want to present themselves in a particular way via their appearance. Each one of those things can be turned int some "-ism" if you want to go to the extreme ends of it. That's just not realistic or helpful, though.
@@MensFashioner I agree with your points and you are a professional that I really do value the opinion of (as I’ve been a sub for quite some time). Would you agree however that the way people should dress are social constructs of that particular region or ideology? And if those social constructs do more harm than good then shouldn’t we try and break those constructs for more healthier ones? That’s all I’m saying. You know there was a time where women wearing jeans or wearing trainers was regarded negatively, we changed that perception so why can’t we change this one?
And that’s why you shouldn’t let anyone tell you what to wear as long as you like it. Especially this girl, I disagree with 99.999% of what comes out of her mouth.
My guy. My brother. We dress for ourselves; In fashion there are NO rules. Never mind this girl and keep dressing how you like. Also Leather Jackets have no age group which suits them; like i've seen 67 year olds rock it. Just keep dressing like who you are as a person. Good luck.
It kinda hurts to see Tim thrown in with those guys in the thumbnail. His approach has always been much more positive, creative and fashion forward than anything on those men's fashion channels (I'd have to say this one as well, sorry).

at the end of the day, wearing nice clothes is an art. i am an Architect and in the design world, one of the basics is "what is beautiful for you might not be beautiful for me. in design theory, it is a big no no if you use the word to explain to the client the phrase "because it looks beautiful". Yeah...I wore black leather jackets in my 20's, 30's, 40's, 50's...and it isnt stopping until I cant climb onto a motorcycle anymore. Some guys can't wear certain things at any age, it's just part of one's personality.
I agree with others on the leather jacket. The style of it makes a huge difference. DIsagreed with her on Aaron's jacket. It's on the conservative side aka has a traditional collar, minimal zippers, and classic black color.
Now, I don't mean to start a whole debate about this, it's just something I casually noticed. She keeps saying "he's on the shorter side," while almost grimacing sort of. It's like she's trying to point it out while being nice about it. However, with Jose she just straight up says "he's tall." With people trying to reassure men that no one cares about whether you're short or tall, this shows that (some) people do care and believe it is not something you should highlight with your outfits. It's probably unhealthy to tell someone it's ok to be short and then try to get them to make themselves appear taller. I'm not saying the tips are bad! I just think it was a small detail that implicitly said a lot about how we think of short men.
I used to be really into these channels in middle school and tbh I think it’s more important to wear what you think looks cool instead of this super heavy business casual style as a young guy.

Imagine rocking a YSL leather jacket and first thing people think is “mid life crisis”.. 😂 I can assure you no one thinks this. Regardless of age, seriously even bringing up age in fashion is absurd. Let people have fun 😂
Funny thing is in my twenties I always thought leather jackets were for guys in their thirties and forties aka the ones who could afford a quality one. It’s bizarre to hear forties is too old.
She said “he is on the shorter side” so many times, she really did our bro bad. How tall is she anyways? Hating leather jacket? So many questions. She better style herself first. That nude color sweater is really ugly and doesnt match with her skin, seems so tasteless and lame.
Hey man, she’s just giving constructive criticism. No need to take it personally.Clothes should fit the body type, if you’re short that’s alright, let the clothes do the work and complement your body. I understand it can be hard when we hear a woman saying it, this is her job so there’s no need to take it personally and insult her appearance. Anyways, have a good man. 🙏
There is inherent value in fashion advice coming from someone that has made a career out of assisting those in the public eye faultlessly present themselves. If you are similarly invested in these things based upon career advancement, mingling with successful people, to attract the notice of potential dates, or for your own self confidence, those are all legitimate reasons for style self improvement. But at the end of the day, it’s still a facade and window dressing. Who is inside the clothes, is still more attractive than whether your watch strap is the correct colour. There is always room for personal style, and visually, it’s a lot more interesting than a perfect, but sterile look. Whatever you do, be yourself. The taste of the people you meet any given day for the most part aren’t going to critique your look like a professional stylist. In the modern world, if you’re putting any extra effort into presenting yourself well’ your’re leagues ahead of the fast fashion, athleisure crowd.
Agreed with everything you said except for AlphaM's fit 3. I think the grey jeans work really well here (except for that 1 spot on his right thigh although that doesn't look like part of the garment itself). It provides a bit more of a rugged look which pairs well with the camo pattern. A black pair of jeans will also blend too much into the cuff and hem of the jacket since those are a pitch black colour. The grey jeans also really highlight texture, and having a less notable texture with black jeans would probably make him look too shiny due to the texture of the jacket and boots.
I think older men can wear leather jackets. I’m 63 and I wear a biker jacket with a grey hoodie. I often get complimented on how stylish it looks. I think the leather jacket is timeless.
Great vid. When you spotted the black strap watch with AlphaM, it hit me how good women are at spotting details in clothes like that, so you got me on alert! Please do more like this

I appreciate Alex critique but at the same time it’s her perspective, her opinion and not facts. Nothing is wrong with a man getting a perspective from a woman who is a stylist but you as a man have to figure out what works for you as well…that’s key! Plus you can listen to all the RUclips gurus you want but you wearing or buying something they tell you to get but your not confident or comfortable in it just defeats the purpose 🤷♂️. And if your not comfortable or confident then no woman will pay you attention anyway
I dress to feel well. As long as I feel clean and sharp, I really don't have any worries. Looking good comes secondary to me, and it usually takes care of itself anyways. I usually dress myself in a room with no mirrors. Then, I go into a room with one and simply see if there are any problem areas I need to check up on.
I mean.. suede is exceptionally impractical. Leather should be perfectly acceptable for any age, maybe different style or colour, but still - leather is universal
Ashley, I respect your opinion and you do bring up some good points. Hell, I agree with some of what you said. However, you also said something really important. “TO EACH THEIR OWN!”
The reason for the big zipper strap is that it’s a pilot’s jacket, that strap is the kind of strap that you use to pull to takeout covers that proctect parts of an aircraft usually a fighter jet when he is parking before or after a mission or training.
Always good to have a qualified female perspective. Btw, I’m 50 and have always taken care of myself. I’ve earned the right to still sport a leather jacket!!! 😀
I bought my first leather jacket 30 yrs ago and now that I'm older, I still rock it because it's a 30 yr old leather jacket. Being an older guy I do dress more of a classic style and not in skinny jeans and distressed denim, but I'm retired so I don't need to dress up a lot.

I’ve always heard the comments on blending colors to elongate proportions and I think it’s one of the most overhyped/tried things. Sure it looks fine in pictures but there’s no time where I’m wearing all black (for example) and standing next to my friends that I don’t look like my short self lol
Ashley somehow sees less variety in menswear than Sven Raphael Schneider. And we all know he would wear a morning coat ensemble for fetching some groceries.
Hi Ashley, I followed your advise where the other day, I ended up browsing through a clothing store and found pants that were really good priced (bargain actually) and decided to buy a few. They're pants that I don't normally wear but for the price, I told myself "Why Not?". So one of the pants were light gray patterned slim fit joggers, yes joggers. It was a little long so I've decided to take off the garter, hemmed it just enough so my ankle will show. Once ironed, I wore it and paired it with a light coloured sneakers and black fitted t-shirt. I then went to visit my teenage daughters and son. When my stylish teenage daughter saw me, she said "you look nice". I don't know about others but to be complemented by your daughter on how you look is one of the best feelings in the world. We went grocery shopping and I felt she was proud to be walking side by side with me. The cost of the pants? $5 Australian Dollars. Next day I wore another pair I bought (Cost a little more at $10 😀), light brown patterned skinny chinos (another statement piece) and paired it with fitted navy t-shirt and black sneakers (white bottom). I also folded the pants' bottom this time to make it look more casual again showing the ankle. I met with a friend for coffee and when he saw me, he said "Hello fancy pants". He's never seen me wear pants like this. While having coffee, there were a bunch younger looking people and one girl keeps glancing our way. I noticed she was wearing something casual but stylish and most of her friends were wearing clothes you normally wear at home. Maybe she was thinking "I wish my (male) friends would dress up like that stylish dad over there". Lol.
Is there something wrong with being short? Why is every tied to appearing taller than you are. It’s like trying to hide your small gut because having a six pack is why we all should aim for.
Thanks Ashley for respectfully pointing stuff out from other men's fashion stylists perspectives. I normally experiment most of the time with Alpha M's advice, which most of the time kind of gets positive feedback from women that I interact with, but still you bring up good points. It's great to hear tips from other people like you as well. I will ensure to add your advice to my fashion ideas as well. Thanks for bringing this up.
The essence of her fashion tips: stick with monochrome color palettes and being short is the worst thing possible. Some points like clean lines are compelling but ultimately she is inconsistent with how she defines “put together” and a fancy trucker. It seems that a trucker jacket saves all wardrobes! Just odd suggestions.
Would be interesting seeing some of your celebrity’s dressed by you. Because of course being a celebrity means you have enough money to buy whatever you need for an outfit now being the average person with limited resources is very different .
I like Ashley's suggestions! She does a good job of explaining the why behind her suggestions. She tends to be more classic, and timeless with her suggestions, which I appreciate. Good Job!
beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this was really good because you explain exactly what you like or not and how you would fix it - that provides insight into your styling preferences which I feel align well with mine!
jackets are a real big thing to hold your overall style together. I've seen enough 'these are the 7 jackets you need to own' videos to know that I personally should stay away from bomber and leather jackets - they just don't work and I've asked women in my life I trust on this and they agree. it took an eternity but i eventually settled on a barber jacket for the autumn weather. I have winter jackets under control but the less cold weather is not appropriate for a winter coat. I mean you are free to wear a leather jacket because it's what you are feeling but in most cases for a lot of us 9-5 office job people watching the videos, it's going to look out of place

Appreciate your fashion knowledge!
I don't mind seude jackets, I like trucker jackets as well but I'm only 31 but I prefer to rock leather, even with my boots. Just the way some of us men feel when we wear leather, we feel confident. I think it's every person's opinion, I don't think leather jackets will ever go out of style, I believe some outfits never go out of style, they're timeless. I will have a variety of jackets in my closet when I'm 40 but pretty sure I'll still have a leather jacket for Fall time, I just love jackets in general. I'm finally finding my taste in style. I have a few leather jackets in my closet but I prefer to wear my brown one over black, I just prefer brown with leather over black.
Your "thing" with Aaron's "midlife crisis" is just dumb in my opinion. What if he simply likes those kinds of clothes? What if he feels like that's his style? Assuming someone has a "midlife crisis" simply based on the clothes he wears is ignorant.

@@blerksnarfgut7332 That's marketing nonsense. Look at Gen Z wearing 90s fits nowadays, when less than a couple years ago, they were considered mom or dad style aesthetics.

Tim is one of my favourites. Even though I don’t feel like I could pull off a lot of his looks(the baggy, comfort chic trend), I really admire his ability to put outfits together.
Have a look at Harry Haas' channel. Same clean aesthetics just slimmer and trimmer fits.
Wear

The most important thing when a man style himself is confidence and a eye to see if u look good or not in the mirror . That’s about it
I agree with others on the leather jacket.
However, with Jose she just straight up says "he's tall."
With people trying to reassure men that no one cares about whether you're short or tall, this shows that (some) people do care and believe it is not something you should highlight with your outfits.

The men's style personalities that consistently dress like they're ready to go to work are Sven Raphael Schneider, Jeff(Style OG) and Antonio (RMRS).
I think those don't need reviewed. Definitely appropriate wear in those guys. Three styles but we'll done. These guys reviewed are more trendy

Now we know why so many male celebrities look like they share a closet.
Where can I find the boots like at 14:37? Those look great.
I must say having you review outfits and provide insight is very helpful!
Good Job!
8:37 Does somebody know what is this youtuber's name?????
I've finding him but i don't find him.
Thanks.
The dislike ratio is high with this one. The insecure men are mad that a woman knows more about men's fashion than they do.
beauty is in the eye of the beholder and this was really good because you explain exactly what you like or not and how you would fix it - that provides insight into your styling preferences which I feel align well with mine!
Part two is a must. Try these youtuders

You really have a thing about leather jackets for men over 40
I just have a thing for making men look their best. Most men can’t or don’t know how to pull off a leather jacket, including influencers.
@@MensFashioner :)
@@MensFashioner I wear a potato sack with a rope tied around the waist as a belt.
jackets are a real big thing to hold your overall style together.
Erin Merino having a mid life crisis? Did you notice the title? Alpha. Not beta. His clothes match his energy and his attitude. We should all be so lucky to have this guy's drive. Being a beta or sigma or deep and complex individual may be your thing. Go for it. Merino shows us it's still okay to be an old fashioned manly man, while addressing real issues men face today. And yes, he laughs at himself and has a good time doing it. He's entertaining to watch and I learn new things from him.
I iam completely by your side. Classical style is way better Than short term fashion. I am getting 30 next year and my wardrobe is so much better. You are a piece of the puzzle. Thank you
I had to watch this video and subscribe right away I needed this
Self proclaimed celebrity stylist
What do you think about ONE DAPPER STREET?
Hi, please stop judging. Your opinion doesn’t mean anything
I don't agree with everything you say, but I have learned a lot from you. We appreciate you! 💯
In Aaron's second outfit pic, he's wearing a gold Rolex Yacht Master on an oyster flex bracelet, which is essentially just black silicon. In person it's pretty neutral looking despite being black
Just because you're a celebrity stylist that doesn't mean you know how to style people the right way or rate someone's outfits cause a lot of celebrities have terrible and aweful styles, i can't even imagine what their stylists were thinking about when they styled them
TRUE
You have a preference/bias for clean styles, and as a man that apeal to me occasionally, but not as much as other styles aomething more adventurous or outdoorsy. I like the style of Carl Murawski for example which I bet you won't like.
Thank for your styling tips. I’ve been following all of the included RUclipsrs without realizing the small mistakes they’re making. I’m a fan of Tim Desaint because I have a similar body type and build. And I’m happy that he almost went 3 for 3. You mentioned that a younger man can get away with wearing hoodies and sweatpants. Would you consider brands like Fear of God worn by guys in their 40’s to be seen as a mid life crisis? Jerry Lorenzo looks great but that’s his style, however, he’s in his 40’s. Appreciate your fashion knowledge!
I love Tim‘s Outfits. He’s one of my favorite RUclipsrs
Wear whatever makes u feel comfortable
Your "thing" with Aaron's "midlife crisis" is just dumb in my opinion. What if he simply likes those kinds of clothes? What if he feels like that's his style? Assuming someone has a "midlife crisis" simply based on the clothes he wears is ignorant.
If fashion is art... and art is subjective....then everything on this list should be valid right?
no
All your ideas are centered around a base aesthetic that not all men will fall in line with. Also who wants to dress like celebrities, considering your career, they don’t even dress themselves. Wear what u want boys
his the alpha of dressing I had 0 girls before him with the style and confidence he thought me the women come to me I slay to him his a absolute legend😎
