The one thing I take from Ashley and everyone else is Fit. I thought I bought nice clothes and considered myself to have some style but never really looked right. I'd try on clothes in shops and would always opt up a size (for comfort, I thought). Don't do it, if you are an M, buy an M you will not look back. Confidence is KING and wearing the right size, gives you confidence and compliments.
I love your channel!! Fashion is something that I'm very passionate about. My mother was a very stylish woman. She taught me everything I know about fashion. Thank you for your advice. I appreciate you 💛💗
I always wear tailored suits, but have had a job change and have been needing a refresh on my non-suit wardrobe, which I haven’t worn in years now. I have a great barber who keeps my hair and beard tight, but probably need to refresh some jeans, get some nice pairs of boots resoled and finished, and throw on an accessory or two after my breakup six months ago. Thanks for the refreshed guidelines here.
As a straight man, has any other men felt like women might see you as gay if you dress too well? Accessories. Color matching, layering, ect? I have heard many women say just that about other men. Isn't that what we are trying to avoid? What are your thoughts?
I'm not a man, but I do appreciate a well dressed man. Dress shirt, sweater, nice watch, jeans, and shoes...5 o'clock shadow facial hair...um. Even if they are more into a country style. White t-shirt with a plaid, nice jeans, boots and a cowboy hat at a nice country western bar. Maybe, that is just me. 💁♀️
I feel the same thing so I try to dress well while also avoiding to over do it. I stay minimal with my options and don't go beyond a specific colour palette while also having enough options to choose from and layer my clothes too. That being said, men have always tried to dress as elegantly as possible- just look at some pictures of portraits from the last few centuries (19th, 20th, etc.) If we take those as examples then the only way you might fall under the category of an 'excessively dressed' man is when you try to change how your face looks (a broad classification for that would be 'make-up'). I feel like the way to avoid looking like you are seeking attention or rather a bit feminine is by confining the definition of dressing to clothes and a few accessories only- that's what I do though. Here are my two cents on it
Yeah I agree with you. I have been in bars sitting close enough to a group of women and random dudes come in and I overhear some of them saying he dress like he gay and the dude would have on a camel hair or corduroy sport coat on. I don’t know man. Then I have heard women say they like a man that wears sport coats/blazers and knows how to coordinate colors. Women are some strange creatures. I’ve been on this earth for 40+ years and still can’t figure them out to a large degree.
Happened to me, for example, my friend’s mom said she thought I was gay because of how I dressed. She even stated that it was too good. Due to that, I rarely wear my earrings, rings and bracelets anymore.
@@ORIGINALDaveB I don't disagree with that but you gave a point that has nothing to do with my statement. What does her confidence have to do with someone being absent from screen? The dig on Teige wasn't necessary. It felt off brand for you, Ashlee. However, I did appreciate the intentional smattering of humor throughout this video.
Agree with all of it but somehow I find a bomber off-putting. It's usually puffy at the waist and the sleeves. I always find a trucker jacket far more versatile and pleasing in its cut and silhouette. Also, I always prefer a collar on my jackets. Think that's more mature and elegant than round neck collars.
Hey Ashley- I need to up my style- I am an executive at a big Silicon Valley tech firm and most of my life I have just sort of been the jeans and Tshirt guy that is more comfortable working in the yard ot my little auto shop I have at the house. I would say basically a biker look but clean biker. How do I find a stylist here in Silicon Valley and what is the process? I got a stylist for my partner in London- She is a London lawyer and always VERY stylish but sort of biker girl on the weekends. When she gets dressed up in the nice stuff the stylist got her she is unstoppable. Literally the gal every man stares at when we are in a place like Sketch the 3 michelin star place in London. Her stylist did a great job but it was a bit too involved for me. Oh and I am a big guy 6'4 245. Think semi shaved Yeti.
This has reallly helped me I love dressing masculine but I don’t want to look like I’m in college anymore. Do I have to tailor everything? Yes🤣 but it’s well worth it for a classic well firing look.🙌🏻

I vibe with this funny I always wear layers because I heat up and get cold easily. Only issue I have is with the distressed jeans. They can help keep you cool and balanced with a blazer and button up. I do make music and play shows as well as a Ramones fan. XD
I'm actually really proud of myself after watching some of these videos lol My bombers are a secret weapon The Black and Navy are obvious favorites but i love the Green one I have It's a more earthy green almost a military color.

Hey ! Thanks a lot for the information but I still can't figure out my face shape . I need a little help : My measurements are :- Forehead - 7.5 Cheekbone - 6 Jawline - 10 Facelength - 7.25 Please help me !!
Buget tip let's say you're about to throw out those scuffed up dress shoes. when I was in the ARMY back in the day our Sargent showed us a little trick. Before you throw away those well worn-out boots. You can get a little life out of them and look REALLY good for about 6 more months. The trick is to lightly spray paint them. yes! you heard that right!!! Let's say you got some well warn out/ badly scuffed on the outside of the shoes. You can breathe a little life into them by spray painting them glossy or matte in the closest color the shoe is. IT works I passed SO may boot inspections. it looks like you put a LOT of care into a very well worn-out pair of shoes. They look like they are spit shined WAY better than if you bought them new. Remember your about to throw them out!! what do you have to loose. it worked for me for about 6 more months!!! You don't want to put a heavy coat down; you just want to lightly dust them with spray paint just enough to cover up those scuffs and shine.
Well, I guess I'll have to dust off my old "bomber jacket." Do I get extra points for USN stitched on the inside flap and a FCN (Federal Contract Number) on the label? How sexy is that?
Can you imagine if a man made the same video talking about women's fashion while saying what men like women to wear every 2nd sentence. I think you should try to dress nice for yourself, feel confident and the rest will come naturally.
Only thing I disagree with is ripped jeans. I mean of course not heavily destroyed but distressed have been in style for decades and I think they'll always be in style for people under 30
Watching this now as someone who has been wearing black only for a few years now......yeah that feels kinda overwhelming. (Like black jeans, t-shirts, shirts, shoes and jackets🤦🏻)
