Alex Murdaugh's Testimony Shakes Up Family Murders Trial as Defense Rests Their Case

  • The last witness Alex Murdaugh's defense team called to the stand was the disgraced lawyer himself, who testified about various allegations made against him in previous weeks of his family murders trial. Murdaugh confessed he stole money from numerous victims and lied to dozens of people who trusted him the most. The disbarred South Carolina attorney told to jury his timeline from the night his wife and son were murdered, doubling down on his innocence in the killings. The Law&Crime Daily team has the latest on this high-profile trial.

@Always Right, I totally disagree. Alex was focused on the boat incident & knew the outcome was prison time for Paul. He would rather have Paul be dead than go to prison and taint the family name. That was his motive to “spare” Paul by killing him. He had asked Maggie to sign over the Mozelle property which she had 100% ownership of and the Edisto Island property which she owned with Alex. Alex thought if he paid back all his debts that he would not have to serve a prison term, maybe probation or light sentence. I’ve known of folks who have embezzled & this was the outcome. Thereby he would again preserve the Murdaugh name. He killed Maggie to obtain 100% control of these properties. He was in an “inward rage” (he is adept at showing his emotions) after being confronted that day of his financial crimes by his law firm. Alex is unable to love his family because he is a narcissist. He killed his wife and son for his own benefit.

I’ve always felt he’s guilty because he lied about being at the kennels. But then he gave his REASON for why he lied, and now I’m certain he’s guilty, because the realization hit me that he didn’t just lie- he knew the exact TIME to lie about. From day ONE he lied about that very small timeframe at the kennels, but didn’t lie about going to his mom’s. If he’s truly innocent, then all he would know is that the murders happened sometime between 8:45 (when he supposedly left the kennels) and 10:07 (when he discovered the bodies). How did he know he had to lie about the timeframe of 8:45 - 9:06 (when he left for his mom’s)? If he was innocent he wouldn’t know the time of death, so it could’ve been as late as 10:00. And yet he only lied about his whereabouts for that little timeframe that we know to very likely be the time of the murders- because he already knew that’s when they occurred.

The personal injury lawyers typically do not charge for their service ... unless they win.
Then they take between 30 to 40% of the settlement.
Therefore the lawyers will not take a case unless it is sound, because if they lose they get no fees and pay for all expenses.

eddie phillips, I saw a video stating that the defense lawyers are staying at a luxury hotel/wedding venue that charges $20,000 a night. If they stay a month, that will blow through HarPOOTlian's $600,000 fee from Alex. That shows HarPOOTlian is already a multimillionaire who doesn't even need the money. He's a career politician who's been around longer than dinosaurs.

It's not the lie itself that's important, it's the TIMING of the lie......
How would he know what TIME to lie about unless he was complicit?? He said he was not at the kennel during the exact time of the murders, but HOW DID HE KNOW to lie about that specific time??
I'm not convinced that he actually pulled the trigger, but he was there and he is 100% the reason they were murdered.

He seemed big on the whole two shooter theory early on. Look what “they” did, “they” did him so bad..
how could he come to the conclusion so quick that there were two shooters just because two people were shot.
Also he may have shot them from the golf cart. That may explain the height of the shooter (according to the defense expert) Might also explain the mark on Maggies leg. Just a thought.
Regardless, theres no doubt he did it. He’s a disgusting POS.

This man has changed a story so many times if you go back and look at the video of him when he calls 911 there are times that he pauses as if there’s someone in the background as he’s trying to collect and make his story believable but it comes across so not Believable. Even the timeline there is no way that man went to see his mother and make it back that quick there’s just no way there’s no way. Sitting in the car no tears whatsoever greeting people as they came to the site I’ve sat here watching going how can anyone in that jury believe this man! The only time you saw a real tears with this man I believe and forgive me if I’m wrong but when he knows he’s been caught do I believe maybe there’s some remorse maybe a little because how could you not

Exactly. If he was truly innocent there is no reason to lie. He even told the maid to clean the house just as his wife liked it. It’s so weird. It’s either he killed his wife and son or he knows exactly who did it. He’s sorry he got caught. He was able to steal money from people who desperately needed it for his selfish reasons, what makes you think he can’t commit murder for his own selfish reasons. I hope justice will be served.
