    Thanks for the video Calhoun. I also bought the Diff. case but the hood broke off in a few days. I still have it today with the iPhone 4. I liked the good solid 1.4 " screw sockets on the side and bottom. Pity they no longer make them for later iPhones. I would buy one tomorrow . I hope Diff is looking at the video and my comment. Have a nice day.

      Yes the DiffCase “hood” hinge was not great, but the idea was and it’s too bad they didn’t revise it and continue making them. And you’re right about the built-in tripod mount, that was very nice!

    I've been SEARCHING for something like this for a long about 6 months how! Only to discover your video and this product. You see on my aviation Tiktok channel I film outdoors in Arizona alot especially on the ramp where I work. Our sun is intense and makes filming the planes taking off and landing hard to see the screen alot of the times. Plus the heat on the screen, the cell phone reduces the brightness. So I just ordered one for my Samsung S22 Ultra and hope, hope this works.

      Good deal! Hope it works for you. I’ve found it useful in those bright shooting scenarios. I also turn my screen brightness up to help see the screen better in bright sun.

    I use HoodMan shields on my iPads, and bought something similar, but had to 'adjust' it for gimbal & drone use, but bought this one, as it might be a tad better...

      Yeah have tried several in the past that don’t work well. Nice to have one specifically designed for this.

    Cool idea! That gap in along the top seems like something they should update asap.

      It’s not super noticeable except using a tripod mount and if you move the phone around too much, otherwise it’s a pretty decent fit TBH. But certainly a V2 will have updates in the future.

    Hey! Love your videos and have your course bookmarked to complete end of year I hope. I'm wondering if you have any videos for filming action videos outdoors (either improving filming or post production). Or if you do or know people who do consults to help improve video quality? It's primarily fitness videos for our clients in app and via social media. I'm struggling to get good lighting without a bunch of equipment outside and not really knowing much about post production editing

      Thanks for watching! I don’t really have any outdoor related stuff per se other than my videos on the importance of using ND filters in bright light - that can make a big difference.
      Lighting outdoors is often done by simply using large diffusion silks to soften the sunlight or even shooting in the shade to have soft, even light. But of course it really just depends on what you’re trying to shoot and your budget. Then you could use smaller artificial lighting as accents or fill lights, if needed. Also using reflectors outside can be a good affordable way to go.
      You might look up Jeven Dovey on RUclips too as he does a lot of fitness and outdoor adventure style videos. Best of luck!

      @@iphoneographers thanks so much for the detailed reply. Super helpful. Your course would still be helpful regardless, right? And up to date for new phones?

    • @iphoneographers
      @iphoneographers  2 года назад +1

      Yes, I assume you mean the Smartphone Cinematography 101 course? It’s a great course to learn the basics of shooting & lighting that applies to not only smartphones, but traditional cameras too. It also covers a lot of the technical aspects of smartphone video that is different than traditional cameras. And there are a few sections on how to shoot outside with natural light and also reflectors.
      All the courses are routinely updated, but the main point on the smartphone cinematography course is it doesn’t matter what kind of phone you’re using because all the different concepts apply regardless of device. Some new tech is a little bit different, but those are discussed separately.
      And the same thing goes for the Filmic Pro course, etc. Hope that helps!

      Have not tried it yet, but it’s lightweight and should work no problem (depending on the gimbal). Have heard others say it works.

      It’s actually $35. 😁 But in all seriousness, it’s worth it if you use it a lot. Otherwise, sure you can definitely get some cardboard or some black wrap/foil and make your own.
