I was in Walmart looking at their clearance section, there was 2l of juice on for $.54, in Canada, unheard of, anyways this man walked past me and was complaining about the price of groceries, I pointed out the clearance he says “what’s wrong with it?” I said “nothing, it expires tomorrow.” He started freaking out saying he wasn’t eating expired food. Some people can’t be helped, keep complaining then.

To the woman cooking for one:. I've been able to downsize my portions to 4 servings. I'll eat one serving, put the other in the fridge to eat a couple of days latter on and freeze two servings. After awhile, I have a nice freezer stash of cooked meals then I won't have to cook for a week. Good luck with this and I'm so very sorry for your loss.

Usually when people talk about poor quality food…they are talking about commercial processed foods that are usually sold as loss leaders. I try to balance those foods by adding fruits and veggies bought on sale that week. People just need to do the best they can with what they have available to them 💗

Apparently, in Canada, we are supposed to be having a turkey shortage, and the prices are going up. We already pay 2.89 cents a pound now!!!! Guess we will be raising a few of our own turkeys and meat chickens next year. Raised a beef this year, he's due to be butchered any day now. Thankfully we have almost 4 acres, to raise things on.

Everyone I am a Hospitalist physician and while probably 90%of the population does not have to watch their salt intake, anyone with CHF, CKD stage 3 or worse or cirrhosis of the liver will potentially wind up in the hospital with fluid overload syndromes if they don’t watch their salt. Conversely, I have taken care of people with hyponatremia or low salt problems as well. Medically there are a lot of causes for this but in our country it is not due to a true salt deficiency unless they have a few very rare conditions but a hormonal imbalance called SIADH is fairly common which makes a person hold on to fluid dropping their salt concentration not their true salt content in their body. A lot of things can cause this including the above medical conditions already listed, cancer, thyroid, adrenal gland problems and many medications. Salt tabs may be prescribed to try and counteract the excess water the body is holding on to. Unless you cook everything from scratch almost no one has a true salt deficiency in the US if you eat anything canned, packaged or processed. Please talk to your doctor if you have one of the above conditions before you go on a SALTPALOOZA.

Hi, for some odd reason, we can buy Online 5# cornmeal store brand and have it delivered opposed to finding it in the store, which is weird as it's store brand, but IF you see cornmeal store brand 5# bags for under 3 dollars buy them. Masa is also a great corn meal product and being nixtamalated is healthier for you as the corn is broken down by the liming process, and watch your brands but Masa is 2 kilo's or 4 an some Lbs and that's a good price, it's easy to make your own corn tortilla's with this too. if you don't have a tamal press just use common sense and press between the thick plastic ziplock bag, (taken apart) and use wood block big enough to make a 4 to 6 inch tortilla. then bake on the skillet. easy peasy.

It’s not the salt, it’s the the salt with the bad additives in it. Although like Tawra and Jill said iodine is good for you. Just read the ingredients, don’t trust the front of the label. Iodized salt is not always just salt and iodine. Neither is the one that says plain salt. Sodium dioxide is often added to it. It is basically sand/granulated glass that will cause irritation and inflammation in your body which literally is what causes the strokes and heart attacks. Salt is fine it’s the ones with sodium dioxide that is the bad one. Just read the ingredients. I hope this helps you and others out there.

My mentally handicapped brother is 76 never ate healthy in his life cause he is picky so you can live dispite what you eat into your 70s to 80s. Just kills me how everyone wants to judge you by what you eat compared to how they eat. I see healthy eaters gone in their 30s 40s and 50s and us others still😅 here

Oo jumping jacks. My kids pediatrician said that doing somw jumping jacks every day can help with bone desisty. There was some exercise thing they did with nurses where half of the group added in jumping jacks I feel like it wasn't even a lot like 15 or something like that.... Sorry I can't remember the exact number. Both groups did walking i think for the excerising but the group that did the kunping jacks too saw an increase in bone density at the end of the study 6 months later. Moral of the story do some daily jumping jacks for fun. Especially women since bone density in usually an issue as we age. 😊 I keep forgetting. I should put a sign up. 😂

If anyone is interested they can Google jumping jacks and bone density and it probably comes up with the study in there somewhere. It said 10-20. 😊

There’s lots of cheap, processed foods I don’t normally eat. In the practice of stockpiling food over the last year and a half for my non-perishables, I decided to stick with varieties of food I already eat and got to the point where instead of buying a kitchen full of food I was out if, having instead the luxury to buy mostly sale items of what I want for later. For example, I focused heavily on jarred foods. Olives, sub dried tomatoes, sauerkraut and other fermented foods, capers, chopped garlic, high quality jams, artichokes, etc. I figure if I focus on foods I normally do eat I will have less waste on tossing what I don’t normally eat. I have a few oddballs for dietary variety.
I don’t buy the store brand butter. I’ve been buying organic, Amish, and better brands when they are on sale, and freezing extras. Same with dark chocolate bars. I buy extras on sale and freeze half of them. Gluten free or high protein flat bread or tortillas- one sale, I freeze them flat, and place them strategically in the freezer.
The day after Christmas I hit the Walmart after Christmas sales. Bought extra lights, but only a few I foresee needing.
I also buy from Trader Joe’s and stock up because they are determined to have manageable prices. I use my earned coupons from CVS and get the $6 off $40 in items like Tide on sale.
And I always check clearance. Seems like nobody likes pumpkin lattes. Well, for 75% off, I like them, and I grabbed 36 cans.

So, the end result has been I have way less food going into the compost. That’s also money saved. I also buy way fewer frozen meals.

I love your longer videos. I received some Bluetooth ear phones for my birthday and now I'm not tethered to my kindle and can listen to you all while doing my chores. I agree that between the freezer and a storage area for stockpile, I rarely pay full price for anything any more. Thank you so much for the free e-book version of vol. 1. I am still going to grab your print book when I can. ❤

In my country it's the same, cheapest sale prices for chicken thighs in USD $1.30 a pound, chicken breast $2.80, whole chickens $1.93 a pound, and turkey is $4.20 a pound. I just follow the tips the best I can with the best prices for my area, and I never buy turkey! Grapes are always outrageous too..about $2.80 a pound, so I rarely buy them either.
