Finally! A tour that shows the cultural diversity of Manhattan and realistic small/outdated apt. Thank you for including the history of Morningside, it’s so important to the area especially as more and more of the locals have been pushed up and out of Manhattan all together (first up to Washington Heights/Inwood, then to the Bronx).
This is actually a Columbia sublet apartment. I live in one of those , they are priced at a lower price as compared to similar apartments in Morningside heights!
I couldn’t figure out why it was so cheap for the size because you absolutely cannot get an apartment that big in the upper west side for less than $3000/month. That makes much more sense!
Elena, your videos always brighten my day! That apartment tour was amazing-seriously, major heart eyes! 😍 Thanks for spreading joy. Happy Holidays to you and everyone here! Wishing you all the magic of the season and beyond! 🌟🎄💖
Sounds like Columbia students are trying real hard to extend the border and be from the UWS 🙄😂 Appreciate you trying to give history but I’m surprised it’s off. Upper West Side ends at 110th (even just few years ago most considered it 96th but now Manhattan Valley is clearly included in Upper West). Morningside Heights is Harlem. Not surprised Columbia students aren’t claiming that though 😁
That price for that flat is absolutely stunning right noW.Upper west side?.Everything is more expensive there and probably smaller apartments are way more expensive than that one.I really liked it.
you acknowledge the former legacy residents as Black and brown folks and the rampant gentrification of this neighborhood but still fall into the trap of calling it the "upper west side" smh. (it's HARLEM). it should also be noted the Columbia University is the largest private landowner in NYC with about 4 BILLION in real estate holdings, and they pay almost ZERO property tax.
and once again the university is on the wrong side of history, allowing/facilitating state violence against their students for speech. It's crazy how history repeats itself, once again the same types of people are wagging their fingers at the students who are somehow both "lazy bums" and "crazed, violent thugs", somehow ineffective at the same time they are too dangerous to be left alone.
@@ElenaTaberyeah we even went to the park she described a lot lol …. My dog also met his first back yard chickens in this neighbourhood (a place next to Columbia had them in their backyard lol)
I ADORE this series! But does anyone else feel like the audio sounds a little bit like it’s underwater? Not sure if it’s just the mic cuz other RUclips videos are crisp on my end? Anyways - love the vid!💓
Oh shit. As a kid, I wanted to be a National Geographic explorer too (well, specifically a naturalist, as they featured a lot of those). Unfortunately, when I was an adult in college my parents sneakily decided to get rid of our formidable collection of NG magazines. Protect yours!
amazing home in manhattan ..amazing too your nomadic digital videos in french chateau and that palazzo in sicily slow life in sardinia ..so many homes ..thanks for these videos..and so intelligent ideas
love this content ! I living in west side LA next to a beach . its peaceful but iam craving this city vibes , living in high building like I used to in Sai Gon Viet Nam !
You look gorgeous. I mean your eyes and the top you are wearing just matches perfectly the blur in the background makes you focus damn you are too good
Huh? Before Columbia, Morningside Heights was largely undeveloped. The University did set off a wave of construction of other institutions, churches, and largely middle- and upper-middle-class residential buildings, almost exclusively for White tenants. Only by the 1960s (70 years after the University arrived), were there substantial numbers of Latinos and African Americans in the blocks west of Morningside Park (to the east was Harlem, another story) and when Columbia conspired with the Rockefellers on an urban renewal scheme to displace them.
*Morning side heights is NOT THE UPPER WEST SIDE. Actually it’s Harlem. Harlem starts at 110th on the West side. Yes she lives around Columbia University and Black people*
It's monthly. But she said it's owned by Columbia University so she must be getting a subsidized rent as a grad student. Otherwise, that apartment would be renting for a lot more.
Cuz they're transplants not New Yorkers. It would be nice to see actual native New Yorkers on this channel, but she might not have those in her bubble, I mean circle.
What?? If it’s $2100 split between two people it is NOT a $2100 apartment. That is so misleading 😂 THIS APARTMENT RENTS FOR $4200 A MONTH!!! That’s disgusting

I love how lived in and real this apartment feels. It’s not perfectly polished, and that makes it all the more welcoming and homey ❤
BTW "Morningside Heights"IS HARLEM Harlem is 110th Street to 155th Street River to River. Nice place though
Love this series of yours..please never stop making these apartment tours❤😊

That's a beautiful apartment. All the foliage outside the window adds peace to a go-go-go city
Morningside Heights is a great neighborhood! But it is not the Upper West Side, UWS ends at 110.
Or, at W 96th Street.
It is Harlem.
no - it would be Morningside Heights, which is where Columbia is located. Harlem begins East of Morningside Park@@thefoolknowsall5260
@@brigitteleafbarnes1441that’s a bit outdated I believe
Wow that giant mirror opens up the space so much
Misleading: she clearly has student housing. The rent is easily double that, but Columbia owns almost all the real estate in Morningside
I guarantee with certainty you will not find an apartment in this neighborhood at that price publicly listed for rent. Guaranteed

If this apt was decoted with really cool pieces, it would be beautiful.
You had me at the dog flopped on the bed lol and this is the area where I used to live when in NYC for a fellowship with my dog … so fun
Aw no way!

Morningside Heights is in Harlem.
Lol I just moved from Paris to NYC (I’m in Morningside Heights) working next to Columbia. Did you leave Paris?
So is it $2100 total, or $4200?
Would like to talk about some real estate content creation.

Great rate of $2100 for one bedroom. Ok. Owned by Columbia University 👍

Hay. If you search Hay purple stripe duvet you’ll find it!
I’m surprised it doesn’t cost more actually

monthly

So youtubers make more money than models, because you belong in the show business.
i thought you were going to show us an apt..........duh
Who did the natives take the land from? You started this......
I’m sorry your PhD is a 9-5? How did you get so lucky… my lab dept would laugh. We work more than that.
She's Chinese. Her parents must be loaded back in China.
Why doesn't anybody from New York have a New York accent? 🤔
Cuz they're transplants not New Yorkers. It would be nice to see actual native New Yorkers on this channel, but she might not have those in her bubble, I mean circle.

$2100 split between 2 people means they pay 1050 each...
The most boring apartment I've ever seen.
