I lived in the East Village for 30 years. I met my husband at a club there and did my internship/residency there. My apartment was like yours with a lot of light and I saw the Empire State, Chrysler buildings as well as the WWC's from my top floor walk-up. When I first moved there in 1991, the community was so small that people would say, "Yeah, you're the new girl in town" lol. Paid $1800 for a one bedroom in the end before Jared Kushner bought us out and turned the units into dormitories for young Wall Streeters in 2011. Still worked in the EV until the pandemic. Now I'm a country girl within striking distance of NYC and Dual Spice Shop on First Ave... one of my favorite haunts. Thanks for a glimpse of your lovely life!
Elena - you have carved out such a beautiful life for yourself!! Being in your twenties, living in NYC, in the East Village no less in a gorgeous apt w/laundry!! Halleluiah! I have seen many of your videos here on YT & have always enjoyed your content. Love design, decor & seeing how people arrange their homes. So much fun!! It was so special getting to see where you live! I am in my fifties & live 25 mins outside of the city - pretty much my whole life. And though I never lived in NYC - it's always been a simple train ride away which I have always appreciated. Many of my friends lived in NYC in their twenties while still single & no kids & have all been so thankful for the opportunity...which was a plus for me cuz I always had a place to stay over! I wish you good health & fun as you continue your wonderful career & journey enjoying all that NYC has to offer!!
Akira is actually a movie and u should watch it because it’s really good and blew my mind. You definitely don’t need to be into anime to watch it! It’s a cult classic and was very revolutionary to the point it inspired a whole wave of cyberpunk/sci fi media (even in America). Even if you’re not into that kind of stuff, it’s an excellent movie and probably one of the best to come out of Japan (warning, it is very intense so be in the right mindset to watch it) 🥰
Few things .. 1. Would love to see your book collection plz plz I've been waiting for it for so long .. 2. Would love a reel or short video on your perfume collection. 3. Maybe you can start a series of your fav cafes , places etc etc of East Village and Newyork..it would be really cool and helpful. 4. I've asked this before plz share the area and rent situation etc of Sage ,your sister because like her I'm also moving to Newyork and really like the area she lives in ..plz it would be really helpful...like the expenses, things to consider before moving there ❤
I don't know about everyone else, but I would love a book recommendation video! (especially one that highlights non-western authors or maybe just lesser known authors that don't normally get a platform)

Have you ever been to Melbourne, Australia? It’s where I’m from and not saying it’s anywhere comparable but I feel like in a way it’s Australia’s New York. It’s so cultural, and beautiful and unique in its own right and similar in the way one night you could be at the theatre and the next you’re at some secret underground bar or club. I love it so much. You should visit one day! xx
$3,000 for her half of the apartment is pretty standard if you want to live in Manhattan. There are probably 1.5 million people paying $3000 rent in Manhattan.
I miss my old apt in the EV then had to leave and head toward the UES after our COVID deal was up. Honestly it's crazy how much apartments in the area are going for now :/
Your apartment is so clean and cute! It was nice to see your place after watching your channel and seeing so many others. And a nice surprise to find that your a tall girly like me! Go off 6'1 sis!! I would've never guessed. Also -- you should definitely check out Akira, its a little freaky but definitely a gorgeously designed and animated film. Keep doing your fly thing Elena :))

I earned an MA in Anthropology and we don't get paid enough to live in those kinds of apartments. damn $6,000 is insane
it is
Not in the Manhattan market for a 2BR it's not. There's a lot of people here that can easily afford to pay their $3000 share of that quite easily.

This is insane to me as someone who pays 850 per person (1700 total) in Chicago
