It's a lot more difficult than you think, with non-linear plugins. I stop even do that with feedback compressors, because level matching is useless, i do by ear.
I've been using these plugins since the day they came out and they're now the only plugins I use! The Waves VEQ's and CLA76's can't hold a candle to the sound of the VMR modules! I don't know if they sound more like the vintage units (because I've never used the real hardware)… but VMR sounds better than Waves! It adds so much character and life to my mixes! Even my wife (who is not an audio person at all) has noticed that my mixes sound more "like something you'd hear on the radio". Keep the updates coming! ***REQUEST*** The Level module was a fantastic addition!!! Would love to see either a Blue 1176, API or Pultec style eq next!
Great video and this stuff sounds great. It would be helpful if you would show the 'After' sound again after you show the 'Before' sound so we don't have to rewind the video to hear the difference a 2nd time.
Slate Digital makes fantastic plugins. If you are comparing them against Ozone, T-Racks, Waves, Slate Digital is on par in sound quality and in many cases exceeds. It's a competitive market and I work in a studio that uses a wide range of software for mixdown, mastering and processing and I was really blown away by how great this bundle sounds. And like the video says - what I love about them is that they are not CPU intensive at all. Which is a huge bonus. Especially for those at home who do not have uber powerful computers and still need to get the job done. The programmers they have working for them are probably at the top of their game for sure.
I mix for a living and trust me, regarding analogue modelling, izotope, waves, and certainly T-racks are all way off the mark. I even stopped using $8000 worth of UAD since I got the VMR. Slate have not only nailed the sound, but the workflow too. (massive bonus for those of us against the clock frequently)
BuzzaB77 I kinda am calling bullshit....UAD makes the best. and you have almost all 91 UAD plugs???? These are only 12 plugins ....and they have far less parameters...what makes slate so fabulous? serious inquiry
I recently got the virtual rack and Holy Grail of JESUS!!! what have i been missing out on?? no joke, this sounds wildly good and so much can be achieved with just this this plugin regardless of genre. Im just super impressed just TAKE MY MONEY already lmao 😂😂
@@nickr3526 imagine how i almost fainted when i saw the prices on top of having to purchase additional hardware...no ma'am......you might as well just invest in actual analog gear
So sick! I love everything that they make! Slate Digital is the future of audio engineering! Funny too, that now Waves has hopped on the subscriptions because of these guys haha! But there's no way I'd make the switch back, to be honest - Slate is just too great! :)
This dude is f***ing smart. I usually despise the pricing/marketing manipulation and vast misleading information in the world of audio, but shit, I'm buying this next $-go-round. Really love the collapsing/rack interfacing.
I have two SSL modeled EQ but none of them works for me. It's just.. I can't shape the sound. So I never use them again. Then I've tried this demo. Then I realized that I can do it! It works the way what I wanted. So I try to compare other EQ and you know what? Only VMR works for me. I don't know what is wrong with me. It is really weird.
Is Slate Digital is going to make something with high end quality something never existed before, some new instruments never existed befor beside another eq,compressor?!! P.s. There were so interesting things i saw in my dreams!!!
Any battery sampled like kontakt, additive drum etc. sounds better without equalization than what you made us feel. Easy to boycott the sound and then make it feel little more than improved
I really want to know if you can have just an ilok account and still use these? II really like this package because I want to change some of my mixing tools
+Ave Mcree (CeeMurda DaBasedgod) If you haven´t bought it yet i recommend you do! Wait for it this Friday for maybe a deal! And yes, just one ilok but you need the physical ilok!
Francis Larsson I figure the deal will be $99 for this like the mcdsp package but still having to order a dongle is a bit tedious. Especially seeing that uvi does ilok without the dongle.
Pretty sure I'm in. Have you seen the prices on Apollo's plug ins? What my ears are hearing is very impressive. Do you have tape emulations like Studer and Ampex?
Can you delete the vmr installer wizard after the plug ins are installed or will deleting that also delete the plugins? It’s talking a 1.7gb storage and it says it’s the installer?
I'm doing the pay by month bundle. Now, reading the manual, am I understanding correctly that the console models for the channel buss and the mix buss (as accessed by the rotary control) don't work in the basic bundle? That would crystal-clarify why there's no discernable difference between the "console models". I just thought I didn't hear any difference because I'm not a ponytail hippy.
take care you are thinking of signing the digital slater, their support is not good, I signed for a year and is giving out expired, I contacted the support but they do not respond.
So I'm pretty green with audio recording. It seems that some EQs on here you can only fine tune an exact frequency for that "band" (probably wrong term) but you can't set a bandwidth. Others you can set a bandwidth.. is this correct? Am I missing something?
Eric Kleihege - the bandwidth control you're speaking of is called the "Q", and it is a function available on the SSL sim EQ .. The FG-N is a Neve sim, and that EQ was meant for more "broad strokes" of EQ boost or cut, as was (is) the original. If you're looking for extreme fine tuning, more of a forensic repair type of EQ, look to EQs such as Fabfilter, or even the stock parametric EQ in your DAW platform. These Slate EQs are designed to model older, classic analog pieces, which are usually more "musical" sounding because they also impart subtle harmonic distortion and longer decay times, (although the SSL is "faster" than the Neve but still longer than the typical digitaL EQ) and they have their own added vibe and sonic character - it's not that you can't use them for detail, but for very fine adjustment and detail work, they're probably not the "best" choice, but ....they have the advantage of imparting the color and vibe of the analog pieces they were designed to simulate, and forensic style EQs don't offer that, they are mostly transparent in their tone. ;)
Qualsiasi batteria campionata tipo kontakt, additive drum ecc suona meglio senza equalizzazione di quello che ci fatto sentire tu.Facile boicottare il suono per poi farlo sentire poco più che migliorato.
When you compare before and after , please keep both signals at the same volume level .
It's a lot more difficult than you think, with non-linear plugins.

Very misleading.
I hope This company keeps this up and doesn't get greedy. No More Waves For Me.......
$9.99. All the plugins, sample packs, and mix templates you can eat 🍔
My go to plugin for absolutely EVERYTHING! Just unbelievable!
I've been using these plugins since the day they came out and they're now the only plugins I use! The Waves VEQ's and CLA76's can't hold a candle to the sound of the VMR modules! Thanks Steven for helping out us little guys!
The added workflow simplicity is a great feature and I love how natural the sound is! Keep up the great work SLATE digital!

one of the main points for me lately is the low latency and low CPU usage, no matter how many units i pack into it.
Slate, you are great !

8:18 OOOH BURNNNNN! Take THAT, UAD!
ONLY THE BEGINNING ! (POWER) :D
UAD has the audacity to charge you $400 for 2 plugins ontop of requiring their interface to use lmfao

I love your Explaination
Instabuy! Congratz for the quality and praticity.
Sounds unreal!!
No all buttons in mode for the 116? Still the 20:1 sounded awesome for smashing and the vocals sounded great through it.

well it depends what those 2 model eq are. it might be possible that the two u mentionned and SLate's are of totally different SSL EQ model of
Rellay nice! Hes reading his text :-)
Yes-sir, Slate!
sweet! maybe one day if someone buys a track or two!
Very affordable too! :-)

to soften the piano sound. Which parts should be arranged on the Virtual Mix Rack.

Is the CPU efficiency claim true? How do these plugins compare with Waves, or Ik Multimedia T-racks plugins in terms of CPU efficiency?

Love this. Is there a way you can do a video for hip hop/rap vocals and music using this setup?

Can you delete the vmr installer wizard after the plug ins are installed or will deleting that also delete the plugins? It’s talking a 1.7gb storage and it says it’s the installer?
So you have to use it as an independent plug-in insert on every track? It seems like it's gonna torture my PC... (3.10GHz QC, 8 GB RAM)

Nice!!!
Finally! Yay!
Daaaamn that is good yo
Does the VMR come with the everything bundle, or is it sold separately?

I have this but dont know how to use it 🤷🏿♂️ im here 10 years laterb
We just released a new VMR video which details how to use this! This should help explain it better.
yeah, but why do I have to have a physical iLok key to activate it?
love
how does a plugin not add latency ??
*****
lol nawh, they all add ;atency but some less than others, so i'm guessing something like under 1ms
I can't tell, is the revival and trimmer included in this package?
You probably already know by now but yes Revival and trimmer are free.
And now Monster too!!
great
Any one know how to install w/o a dongle? 🤷🏾♂️
Which Touchscreen do you use for your PC ?
it's his own product called Raven. alot of daws don't react well to touch screen yet so he has made custom solutions
not convinced enough , would it subsitute a real compressor ?
are you still talking about touchscreens?
no real ones, i have not decided yet what i should buy exactly
are you an engineer professionally or a hobbyist?
Is this for PC too or only for MAC?
PC too, or at least I hope so as I'm a PC user and I just bought a crap load of stuff from Slate. LOL. No, I'm sure it's PC also.
Is this working on Logic Pro X?
Yes
possibilities are insane ....
Hardly any money left in MUZBIZ
there's more money ever than in history currently being spent on music, your probably referring to the old business model of record sales.
Not at all, because I know nothing about that the ( biz )
