Nice job, very informative 👍
You were using a socket to push that Loctite into the seal... lol break down and get the little dispenser, it's nice! TY for the video.
Very nice DIY Frank. Most tuned( 20+ psi) n54's blow the front and rear seal out very early. An oil filler cap breather can prevent this. Dutch regards, Nico.
@Marzipan Jones isn’t there too much crankcase pressure in the first place, I thought it was a good idea to use a breather filter to relieve some of that excess pressure?
Nicely done
Thanks for the video. Really practical method without fancy $200+ "BMW seal intallation special tools"
You’re welcome
What did you use to degrease the areas where the sealant primer is applied? I tried brake cleaner and I can't get my primer to dry, waited an hour and still no joy, any tips are extremely welcomed. Thank you very much.
Nice video and thanks for posting...How far do you drive it in? Until it bottoms out or until flush with the surrounding engine block area?
Yup, until it’s flush with the block! Once it’s flush, you can use the specified RTV
Hii ! Does the main seal have to go deep in there or just knock it in by the line ?
Thanks for vid btw !
Where can I get those plastic adapter pieces? They didn't come with my seal.
They came with the kit I bought on fcp euro
@@Garageaholic I don't think they sell them that way anymore, I ordered one and none of that came with it, just the gasket, I emailed them and the response I got was, only the gasket comes in the box, guess I don't luck out.
How much is it suppose to stick out?
Must be flush.
can i just use the red silicone (head gasket sealer) to seal it?
Yeah wondering how important this is lol. Can’t find it in Canada easily and it’s not cheap
Honestly, you know how BMW has a special recommended sealant. The properties with this is that it is high temp, oil resistant, and seals the tiny crevices that normal RTV won’t. It’s a gamble, but imho a low risk gamble if you use standard gasket maker.
Link for primer and sealer crap?
It’s in the description
Toyota FIPG Oil Pan gasket maker sealant is the sh*t for this application, or any other...have you seen any modern TOYOTA engines as far oil leaks go ? None...Lol.
I did this without the primer and just rammed it in. It now leaks pretty badly. So do this RIGHT the first time or you WILL REGRET it.
Thanks for that feedback!!! You’re right!
