  • Homestead Renovation 🪓 Saved $5000 Clearing Property Lines Ourselves.
🔴 Homestead Renovation Begins 🌳 Cutting Down A Huge Maple Tree • Homestead Renovation B...
Our new homestead property had been neglected and was overgrown. We brought our a few companies to bid out clearing our fence lines and taking down a couple trees.
The cheapest quote was for $8500. No wonder these properties become unkept and overgrown. That price is ridiculous.
I contracted out only one thing. The removal of a huge maple tree that was too close to our house came in at $3000. That is a difference of $5500 we saved by putting in a little time and elbow grease.

That's a lot of dosh saved there Stan and a cracking job done, and it's all coming along nicely now. That's alot of land you have, are you planning on putting up any wooden fence lines at all, or are you leaving it all open?
    Stay Safe,

I like the open feel of the property. So unless one of my neighbors annoys me with something I'll probably just leave the view open.

We lived in central Florida for almost 20 years before we moved to north Florida this year.

So what do you think? Was all that work worth saving $5000? What would you have done?

Doing yourself is always better than paying someone. The thing is when you take on a new project you may need to spend money to save money.
I think you said it was 3k to take down Steve? Maybe that was good to pay them to do because of the size of the tree.
Everything else is a good excuse to buy new tools or rent machinery.
Maybe some low boardwalks are in order since your yard is swampy often.

With your skills I'd have taken on Steve as well.

Maybe should have kept Steve, build a workshop then sawmilled some nice aged maple. Got tired watching you work!
