    #1-EP '83
    #2-THE WARNING '84
    #3-RAGE FOR ORDER '86
    #4-OPERATION: MINDCRIME '88
    #5-EMPIRE '90
    #6PROMISED LAND '94
(thats the 'essential' Queensryche anyway (and i would include half of 'tribe '03 and OP:m.c.2 in that too) )
if you have the EP, you will know why the warning should be their 2nd album, not their 1st.

They are SO good live! Geoff is just untouchable!
The whole band is a rare blend of talents which has produced the most evocative music ever!
This sounds like it could be a love song, but, like you mentioned, it's more about the surveillance satellite, I think. It looks like a star from Earth, but it's an eye in the sky. But, it's up to each person's interpretation. This live version is actually quite close to the album's sound. And great twin guitar solo from Chris and Michael!
From the same Unplugged session, "The Killing Words" is about love gone wrong. Right after the guitar solo, Geoff sings an altered version of what was on the studio album, and it's even better!
So much good QR music ahead of you...
The next song I'd recommend from this album would be "Walk in the Shadows" (subtly about vampires).
And "Screaming in Digital" for the computer dystopian vibe. Great reaction and thoughts!

Geoff Tate was THE greatest rock singer ever......amazing range and control, almost effortless.

They did a cover song called GONNA GET CLOSE TO YOU...a song about a stalker...originally originally done by Delbello...it's on mine (and Geoff's) favorite Queensryche album...RAGE FOR ORDER. I should say Operation: Mindcrime is my favorite but, Rage for Order just barely beats it out...thankfully I can have both...

Queensryche (with Geoff) had once covered Scarborough Fair by Simon and Garfunkel

I came to the comments to recommend Queensryche's version Scarborough Fair. You should listen to the official release though and not the Unplugged live (unless you want to hear it after).

@@alan-reacts65 They played it on this unplugged performance, and the studio version needs to be heard too, it was recorded int he same sessions as the Rage for Order album, and not all acoustic.

Actually this version is very similar to the alb version. The album version has an atmosphere that just envelopes you but makes you feel uneasy and longing.
The next song off of Rage For Order that you should listen too? OMG where to begin?? Walk In the Shadows or Gonna Get Close To You or London or Neue Regel or Screaming In Digital or The Killing Words or I Dream In Infrared...or just the entire album? It was ahead of it's time and I think the band never sounded better than on Rage For Order.

Alan you must do a reaction to Queensryche's masterpiece, Take Hold of the Flame. Specifically the live performance in Tokyo from 1984. This particular performance is outstanding, the entire band is flawless. Geoff Tate singing that song is unreal. Please check it out.

Geoff Tate doing a Yes song ONLY if with Squire, White, Howe and Wakeman, and only if invited...tee-hee. Just feel so hard to get Jon's timbre. Love these hometown boys too! Seen often. Bellevue/Redmond gents, Mindcrime a desert island album for sure! Thanks Alan!

I know this is a year late but to answer your question on if the Ryche ever did covers,
They did a whole cover album called TAKE COVER & a b-side metal version of SCARBOROUGH FAIR (also a slow and beautiful version of the same in this MTV unplugged set).

This is not going to be a popular opinion: Queensryche never really "did it" for me. Sure, they are wildly skilled musicians blah blah blah, but they never CONNECTED with me emotionally. They are missing a necessary warmth; the songs hang and sparkle, perfectly structured sound sculptures, but there is no corner to peel up and inhabit. They seem to be a band whom you intellectually consider, instead of enjoying in your gut. I go to Coheed & Cambria for prog-metal you can FEEL, as well as hear. Thank you for another great reaction video, Alan! Keep up the good work, and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Don’t be hateful or abuse.. you my friend have supported me 100% .. 😊😊👍 oh btw look out fur Screaming trees next week 🎧

This album was heavily influenced by future dystopian scifi, Anne Rice , and cold war realities of the 80s. All these themes permeate throughout the album.
This album is my favorite album by Queensryche and was the natural stepping stone to Operation Mindcrime. It beats out Mindcrime for me because it was Geoff's greatest album vocally. His FULL range is on display. Previous albums hinted at it ,and later albums, the cigarette smoking ( insane that he'd smoke right?) took his most upper range. Still a stellar singer , but the high range was never the same.....

I’ve reacted to 4 songs from Mindcrime , so I’m looking forward to completing that album and this album .. he smoked he lived his life ( I guess you could say it’s insane ? ) but who am I to say 😎 thank you for such illuminating insight 😊
